I think the first instinct is to somehow take advantage of whatever situation and drain it off all opportunities. Then when they've sucked every last drop of "what can I/we get out of this", then we'll get what we should have had in this first place. Which is knowledge of what is going on, on our planet, that can effect every one of our lives. But not before the technology and info can be chiseled apart bit by bit and sold off for billions over a period of potentially decades if not more.

It already doesn't really reveal foot prints very well even when made, and since they don't know how long it was out there before they found it, means any physical evidence would be long gone by natural weathering. Take into account what the other guy said, that this one is almost identical to the one found in Utah that was made by an "artist" and then lugged out into that ravine where even he said it was months before it was found, and you'll see that the facts and logic point to a terrestrial origin and not an extraterrestrial one. Only the truly disconnected see something like this and immediately jump to the "aliens" explanation, and it's just proof of their lack of cognitive deficiency.
