Odd protocol having the suspect step out of their vehicle before running their license. They would have learned he was a felon then handled it more safely and cautiously. Glad officers are ok but took unnecessary risk.
Scanners mounted in newer police vehicles can automatically run license plates and alert the officers for Code 37s (stolen), BOLs and the criminal status of the RO (Registered Owner). Probably got a hit on the plate, officers were just confirming the ID of the occupant.

I cant imagine why anyone would want to be a cop
Everybody not scared some people actual have GUTS thats what makes life balance and makes everybody different this is thrilling to some people the excitement and the rush. You're gonna die anyway so why live life scared and fearful?
More than 65 Boston police officers made over 325k in 2023. The highest earner among them was a Lt. that made 433k, 33k more than the president of the United States. Police officer doesn’t even make the top 20 list for most dangerous job.
@@CashNYCso in your opinion kidnapping people n stealing their stuff for victimless " crimes " ( not even real crimes ) takes guts?? To harass the public it takes guts?.
.It takes human trash . U have to be a piece of trash to EVER arrest somebody for a victimless offense. Traffic , drugs ... Anything a man possesses ... is his. ...cops f with people who are living already hard enough lives and they need mental help not to be treated like amimals and thrown in cages. That's why the last century of policing hasn't worked. They can't keep drugs out of their 5 acre prison properties n you think they will be able to keep them off the streets?? If there was any good cops. There wouldn't be bad cops. You cant have five good cops stand around while bad cops are arresting somebody who should jus be sent home instead of kidnapped

Nah, its California, where no one goes to prison!
Nope why do you think he was out in the first place?
A female officer should never handle a male suspect alone. She can easily be overpowered.
thank you for your service officers
I am sorry. Women police officers are not physically made to fight off male suspects.
Don't be sorry for telling the truth.
Exactly. This situation was more dangerous because of the female office. She literally needed to be saved.
I know a lot of male Officers who's ass would need saving in this situation.
Absolutely, this is no place for a woman.
They put their partners lives in jeopardy and also put more work on their male partners because the male always has to do the physical part of the job since the woman can’t. It’s total bs.. If you’re a female officer with any respect for your partner you should quit.
Right or wrong, profiling people is a self preservation technique.
Yeah prejudice is a human survival mechanism. I'm an Anthropologist/Archaeologist so I'm saying that with authority. What isn't okay is profiling someone as a means to start an interaction with them or cause harm to them in some shape or form. That would be wrong.
Yes, and racism is just race-realism from recognizing patterns. Educated people with awareness know who the problem people are.
Everyone profiles, the people who say they don't are either lying or blissfully ignorant.
Yeah but they aren’t profiling their own people. 👀

Since when is it illegal to attack a police officer in the republic of California? Those cops will be lucky to stay out of prison.
Criminals don't follow LAWS.
That friendly banter raised all of the cops flags. One look at this guys eyes told him everything he needed to know.
??? Then why did he leave the female cop unattended?
Never leave a female cop unatended they are a liability @@Nobddy
It seems like he handed her off to him before escaping (the confrontation he sensed) to his computer indirectly hoping for the best and not immediately expecting the worst@@Nobddy. He was so sure of his instinct (that that man was desperate enough to eventually start wrestling with and contemplating deadly force). It scared and adrenalized the cop so much that a last ditch and lucky accidental head shot from the side was all he could manage, and he still missed (but did its job). Or not.
he failed the heart check from a very dangerous man. that fight was going to the gun from the get go, the guy just hesitated long enough to be sure when the powder keg of adrenaline and fear took over all rational and logical thought. fight, flight, or freeze. the cop flew, the man froze before fighting. not sure what the lady kept felt when she felt that gun and heard him say "that's my gun" but the awkward situation was all up in their amygdala's before it was too late. crazy stuff. the cops and the convict are lucky to be alive. best case scenario right there. other than the lady cop letting him have a gun during the interrogation.
was the suspect identified correctly? if so, what were his charges and consequences? what in his head made him think the cops wouldn't overreact when they eventually found his gun? he said it calmly enough, but it could've been interpreted as a lethal threat if the energy was wrong. i'd be curious to know what went through his and the lady cops heads during the discovery of that gun. did he conceal to buy time for good or bad? did she try to take it from him? did they _fight_ for it? once that fight starts, not one of the three is gonna be able to discuss the subtle gray areas of that interaction in the moment. tough case for even the Highest of Courts. hindsight is 20/20, the guy had a case for either naiveté or innocence until the charge of being an armed felon could be calmly processed. weird case.
