The fact that he refunded all but $1756.83 tells you that's over a 300% markup on this crap. They'll teach you a system of ripping off their customers to be sure.
I guarantee you that they're from Israel. They're all over mall kiosks too
Did they show an itemized bill for all the devices he refunded & creams he didn't? Curious if I missed a part.
If you go to websites like Gilt, you will see some cosmetics discounted by 99% (priced at $4,000 but, for limited time only, the price is $39.99!)-and they are still making money. So, the markup is north of 9900%.
The fact that she remembers much of what happened, being shown different techniques, given champagne, an inordinate amount of time lapsed then the pushed her out the door with merchandise. My mother-in-law developed alzheimer's age 88 and first thing her son did was remove her cards and cheque book.
She was getting calls, messages and emails from all and sundry with demands fo payment of unwanted goods which never arrived anyway. A text arrived from "Amazon" supposedly seeking £2,500 for a TV that had not been returned along with several similar scams and of course she kept answering junk calls like that.
Finally removed the phone but she would still get upset about not having paid and feared arrest.
Son also stopped all of her charity donations including world hunger, water, children's education, donkeys, bears, lions etc which was costing her £95 a month.
One well known charity which had always been close to her heart, actually sent her a letter requesting she increase her already substantial donations as inflation had reduced them.

So because she has early onset of alzheimers she has to be locked up. You are both pathetic. You can live for months with early onset of either alzheimers or dementor and still function 95% of the time. It’s just sad that there are people out there who will take full advantage of people like this woman.
Something like this happened to my Dad at the shopping mall years ago while I was in hospital one of them skincare stalls hooked my Dad and they tricked him in to believing the product would help with my scars after my surgery. He bought 3 different skin care products for over $160 AUS and because of what they were they would not take them back as they are creams and once the items have left the mall there is no refund. I never told him that he had been scammed. I cannot use skin products due to allergies to most of the ones on the market. Once he had forgotten about them I gave them to a friend who could use them.
He does not have cards in his wallet that are active now, I make sure he has cash in his wallet and that stops him from spending. He does not drive when on his own, but nor do I keep him house bound, thankfully I live in a small village, one thing here is they are a dementia and alzheimers friendly town, If he shows up in town looking lost I get a phone call and they make him happy with a cup of tea while a drive in and pick him up as if we had planed it that way.
I hope when your time comes with this infliction your family don’t treat you as a prisoner in your own home but treat you with respect and have informed those around you to ring them so they can do the same thing I do with my Dad, allow him the freedom but with an invisible leash so that he can be brought home with dignity.

Don't consumer laws in California give people the right to return products within a given timeframe?
the exemption is if they have a sign posted by the register that says all sales final or no refunds but there must be signage visible by the register where someone making a purchase would be able to see it. it’s can’t just be written on the receipt only because you get that after the transaction has been done so no warning
And even then it’s still a civil case requiring going to court.
Always pay with credit card not debit, there are no charge backs on debit!
Zero personal accountability here. How would the salesman know she has Dementia? She can remember everything, but can't remember the purchase. Why hasn't the husband capped her credit card daily limit if she has dementia so badly??

Once someone called them and advocated for her to the staff that she didn't want to purchase those items before you charges a customer, than fraud charges should have been filed in court. Sophie don't need a credit card when she leave the house alone..give her an ID and a phone that's it!
it was a debit card - worse.
WTF???? He's charging a restock fee for products that he provided from his own inventory that very day? Restock fees are charged when an item is ordered into a store as a special order and returned, that is not a stock item. A restock charge might be charged if a customer returns an item without a receipt. This guy is a criminal. I hope that her family pursues civil charges to get the rest of this woman's money refunded. I'm certain that the publicity from this news report will have a negative impact on his business. No defamation from the news station. Only facts reported. NO WAY a woman with all of her mind intact would purchase $7,400 of skincare products on a whim. They saw her as a mark and took advantage of her. If the guy running this place had any common sense, he would have taken the unopened products back and refunded her 100%. That day. IMMEDIATELY! I'm looking forward to the follow-up report where this guys' business is shut down for good.
That’s not true. Restock fees are retail dependent and have different rules
That’s the same brand I got coerced into buying on my cruise smdh. You go for a massage and they do a “complimentary” eye treatment, then they aggressively try to sell it to you. There must be some kind of crazy commission for selling this.
small claims court for the last $1,700
Shyster through and through
She sure is.
This happened to an elderly lady we worked with on consumer complaints and filed a report with the AG's office same type of business on skin care products. The elderly woman was tricked and was later told that this particular store was notorious for scamming people especially elderly folks.
That happened to my late stage Alzheimer’s patient here in palm desert for 10 thousand plus he ran the card twice.refused to give it back, this is a common practice
The bright side is she knew one person on the street that helped her immediately. A good neighbor.
“It wasn’t a crime” 🙄 Actually it is, it’s called elder abuse. Just another 👮 proving once again they don’t know the laws they’re supposed to enforce.
Hey! It's tough being a cop! Those donuts won't eat themselves, you know!
I have experienced pressure tactics from salespeople before, and it's likely that they use these tactics on many people, not just older women.
Well arm chair cop, if you knew California law then you would know that elder abuse only applies to victims who are 65 and older. Try again. 🙄
@@AutumnRamsey-wu6dn Exactly! Street cops cannot arrest people on the spot based on an apparent financial dispute between customers and store staff (no matter how old the customers are). Something like this would need to be brought to the attention of a detective who would bring it to the attention of a prosecutor. The prosecutor is the one who decides how a case like this would be handled That's generally how financial crimes are handled.
She is not that old. And she gave them her debit card. Her family's fault too for letting her go unrestrained.
I had to pause this video halfway through because it hits home way too hard! I was my mother’s caregiver as she was going through her journey with Alzheimer’s. When it was first starting I still wanted her to feel as if she had her independence but I also wanted to make sure she was safe so I was her shadow everywhere she went. It was so heartbreaking watching how shop clerks would realize that mom had dementia and would try to take advantage of the situation. Everything from shorting her change to asking her for her checkbook so they could fill out the cost. They didn’t realize I was watching over her because I would pretend to be just another customer in line behind her.
Wow
I think her friends know something's not right with her.
Perhaps her husband should either hold onto her cards or allow her to have a debit card with only a certain amount on it. I did this for my grandma and it kept her from QVC-related foreclosure.
Thank you for exposing this heartless business and owner! Elderly and disabled people should not have to worry about getting abused that way, if laws were broken there should be consequences, if no laws were broken we need new laws!!!She called someone for help-the sales person knew it was robbing a vulnerable person! This is like when a store shortchanged a disabled student because they realized they could get away with it. Reprehensible and shoppers take note!Abusive stores do not deserve any business.
LOL. They've already started the review bombing.
Karma....
Good😂
Yes!!
i don't agree when people purposely leave bad reviews just because they saw something on tv. it's cancel culture at its worst. you never shopped there, yet you leave a bad review. the goal is not to leave a real review; the goal is to ruin them. tbh, it's kinda scary how vengeful people are, for something that doesn't even involve them. they almost get a high from it.
if they are so bad, let them ruin the business themselves. let actual customers leave real reviews
@@anythingandeverythingABCLife *No, his business awful, and he deserves to be canceled and deported!*
She is right. This man and his shop are predators.
Same thing just happened in Houston at Katy Mills Mall. A 79 year old was charged around $ 9,000 for skin care after employees treated her like best a friend, lunch etc. Later they found additional charges for almost $91,000 to her debit card!!! Seems like the same MO. Venofye /Royal Bee is the company.
Wait! They charged her a restocking fee, and also put her on a buy now/ pay later plan.. thats wild
Don't spend any money on that business. The place is dangerous 😢 They don't care about you, the customer 😢 Stay away.
“You took advantage of a patient” she’s not a patient of anywhere.HER OWN FRIENDS still don’t know her condition, as she said at the beginning.
So she can hide from people who have known her for years, at the same time let’s all assume total strangers immediately can tell and use it to their advantage.
If her condition is this serious, WHY is she out alone like this?!
There’s also a strange totally clear detailed account of her being forced to take these products…. Minus the part where she handed over a credit card and signed the receipt.
Then she walks outta there with like 6 bags in hand! Brings it all home.
She spent too much, husband got angry at her, she managed to get a refund from a place that told her “no refunds” when she bought it.
And stayed anonymous for this - she wins, no consequences!
Agreed
Thank you to the news team for helping.
That store is a scam.
NEVER NEVER buy with a debit card - you are using your money. Buy with a CREDIT card - its the bank's money and they will reverse the charges instantly.
Remember this is a lady with dementia. She doesn't even know how they gotten her debit card. In her reduced capacity, I won't be surprised if these crooks took out the card from her bag themselves!! Thieves!!!
This woman only needs to travel with credit card. She wasn't thinking straight. I feel so bad for her.
It is your money, the credit card has different rules than the debit. It isn't the Banks money 😂 it's yours
@@susannpatton2893 no, it's not your money. you're borrowing from the bank, and paying it back. that doesn't mean it's yours
I totally agree but since she used a debit card, that means she had to punch in her PIN code for the transaction. Did he ask her and she had forgotten?
Thank you for exposing these consciencless predators.
This makes me so sad. My dad died after four years with dementia.
