Hello ! Just discovered your chanel which is very clear and easy to understand. I have dilated pores and i just ordered some of THE ORDINARY products you advise so I can try your routine. Although, I have 2 questions left : 1. At which step of the routine shall I apply an eye-cream and what would it be (reference?)? 2. It seems that since a few months, you have stopped all products on your face and tried to change your alimentation. Do you have a video that explains how did you know what specific food you were intolerant to or what food caused you sincare damages ? Thank U for your wonderful work !
Hey! :) Thank you! Use your eye cream either before or after cream-based products. No, I have not yet started making videos about it, as I'm still conducting the experiment. I'm currently trying to reintroduce some foods into my diet that I initially thought were causing issues. However, I hope to start recording videos soon to explain what I did, etc. Basically, I just eat real and whole foods (without an ingredients list), no processed food, sugary drinks, or foods (except for whole fruits - but not a lot). I cut out wheat-based products and peppers (bell peppers, chili, etc.) mainly because they cause pain in my body.
Hi Melissa, thank you so much! I’ve been looking for advice like this for so long, you are an angel for sharing your knowledge. I was wondering, my skin gets easily irritated when I wash twice a day. After having cystic acne I found that only washing once a day (in the morning) worked for me best, however if I begin using hyaluronic acid and niacinamide together do I have to wash it off at the end of the day and reapply? As I’m scared it will cause breakouts.
Hey! :) Glad to hear that it was helpful! :) If washing your face once daily works well for you, keep doing this! You can use TO serums once or twice per day. So, apply them in the morning if you usually wash your face in the evening - or do it the other way around, depending on when you wash your face.
Hi melissa, thank u so much for the routines shared💞, can I ask for advices? I have a cleanser from garnier (the pure active gel) and the niacinamide and the salicylic acid and moistruizer from the ordinary, how do u think i can manage to make them work in a consistent routine? Should i implement something? (I have normal to oily skin, some enlarged pores on my cheeks and pores on my nome with sebaceous filaments) Thank u for sharing your knowledge💞
Hello Sara, You can use them one after the other just as I demonstrated in this video. Clean face apply Salicylic Acid apply Niacinamide apply Moisturizer Technically you can do it daily, however the Salicylic Acid sometimes causes issues if that is the case use it less often.

For acne scars, you do not necessarily need to do anything; if they are only dark spots, they will fade on their own over time. Or do you have physical acne scars like "ice pick scars"? 🤔
Would you recommend this over your old ordinary routine for black heads (niacinamide, squalene, etc)? I'm a guy with combination skin. Thank you so much for your videos!
Hey! :) Use Amino Acids + Buffet in the AM Lactic Acid + Amino Acids in the PM (as demonstrated in the video). See here: How to use The Ordinary Lactic Acid 5% or 10% + HA: ua-cam.com/video/xbHTGI7XQ1k/v-deo.html
Hi!! Thank you for your work 🥺, may I ask you an advice? I have oily skin and big pores. In my PM routine I use CeraVe foaming cleanser, a toner for combination skin, and hyaluronic acid 2% + B5 (the one from "The Ordinary"). I wanted to add a retinol serum before hyaluronic acid, but I don't know if it's the right choice. What do you think?
Hey! :) Since you're using The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid, you would use it before applying your Retinol. Also, the formulation of your Retinol matters. The Ordinary Retinols are quite oily...therefore I recommend going for CeraVe, Geek & Gorgeous, La Roche Posay, or Paula's Choice Retinol formulations instead.
Hi Melissa, Diva!! I noticed that in the most recent videos the moisturizer is not being recommended (oily skin, after retinol or after acid) to avoid clogging the pores, I have CeraVe PM and The Ordinary, before, I thought that I always had to use it, "to avoid becoming dehydrated and producing more oil", I'm confused kkkk, is there any other video talking more about this subject please?
From my experience it is not about becoming dehydrated and producing more oil. You will not solve the oil problem with a moisturizer since if your skin has enough oil, adding more is not a good idea; I mean, it looks different because you hide it 😉. It is more about finding a suitable formulation, serum, gel, or traditional moisturizer and seeing what works best (still it will not solve the problem). Still, for me, it is really about not applying one at all; whenever I do this, it makes my skin worse. If severe dryness occurs (e.g., with retinol or retinoid), I just skip it for a couple of days and do not use anything that works best for me. It is a very strong narrative. And since the major companies and patient influencers sell moisturizers or are affiliated with them, you will have a tough time telling people something different.
@@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet thank you so much for such a complete answer, giving me your opinion and sharing your experience, I'm gonna try this approach!
I suggest using it at different times/days; it can become very irritating over time. (I tried it myself with retinol 0,3% and 20% Azelaic Acid, after a couple of weeks, I looked like a tomato 😉)
Hi Melissa. I bought ordinary Azelaic acid suspension 10%, Natural Moisturiserizing factors-HA and retinol 0.5% in squalene. Please kindly advise me how and when i should use them. I have an aging skin

@@DABADDESTBARB Therefore, I asked about mixing because some people refer to 'layering' instead of actually mixing the products. If you mix them and only use a smaller amount of each, it can work. However, as explained in the video, sensitivity occurs when you layer them multiple times consecutively. This results in using a larger amount of both acids, making the skin sensitive over time. The best approach would be to alternate them in your evening skincare routine daily, while giving your skin a rest day or two per week.
hey i've been using the ordinary lactic acid 5% for a couple months now and it's working very well for me (i only use it like 2-3 times a week), i bought the ordinary vitamin c suspension 23% + ha spheres 2% to brighten and even my skin, i also read that vitamin c is supposed to be good for dark shadows under the eyes, can i use them together? if so, how often and when? also can you recommend any sun protection in spray form?
No, that is not true. But also, that formulation is very potent, and therefore I recommend not using it too close to the eyes, as it often leads to stinging or burning. Technically you can use it after lactic acid, but combining them may irritate the skin over time, so it is best to use it on the days when not using the lactic acid. Edit: And sadly not. I like NIOD 30, so far I have not found anything better 😉

@@mahnoorarshad7945 I recommend analyzing your skin to figure out what's triggering your acne. I do this too, and I've figured out that when I'm eating something that my gut can not digest - it gets inflamed - and the day after, I get acne on my forehead. Use either a 2% Salicylic Acid Cleanser or a 4% Benzoyl Peroxide Cleanser in the AM - followed by a hydrating toner, serum, or very lightweight moisturizer + SPF. As for the evening, use a regular cleanser (for normal to oily skin) and Differin Gel (Adapalene).

Hey! :) For how long have you been using CeraVe's Blemish Control cleanser? Has it helped you with your whiteheads? Do you have oily skin? Open pores can simply be inherited due to genetics, and in that case, it is not possible to reduce their size. However, if the appearance of enlarged pores is caused by excess oil production, using oil-regulating products can make a visible difference. But it's important to note that the size of the pores themselves will not change, only their appearance.

Hey! :) The combination of Salicylic Acid, (Optional - Hyaluronic Acid and Niacinamide) and Retinol is something that you can try. I would even argue, start only with Salicylic Acid and Retinol, then see how it goes before thinking of adding HA and Niacinamide. This way you won't overwhelm your skin.
