A few viewers have asked how you can just wash off sunscreen with water as Dr Frey suggested she does. I emailed her to ask about it and have included her response below : ) Dr Frey said: Your viewers asked a great question. Topical skincare products do not build up on the skin. The cells on the skin surface are in a constant state of desquamation. In addition, sunscreen application, assuming the person applied the product liberally, has only been shown to last 6 - 8 hours, based on science. (This doesn't include if the person wearing it is sweating, swimming or wiping it off during sport in which case it lasts for a much shorter period of time, probably less than 2 hours.) With that being said, most people apply their sunscreen in the morning. The majority of folks don't reapply. Those who do reapply, usually do so midday. Since the sunscreen only remains on the skin surface for 8 hours, a nightitme facial wash with water at bedtime is all that I recommend. And I have no scientific proof that washing just with water is even necessary. I never use a cleanser and I apply sunscreen every morning and most afternoons. If an individual wishes to wash their face with a soap-free cleanser in the evening to remove the dirt, oil, sebum, and every bit of any topical product they had applied that day, that's fine. But there is no scientific proof that it 's necessary. Keep in mind they will also be removing the vital lipids and proteins that are necessary to keep the skin hydrated. Unfortunately, cleansers are drying. They are designed to remove things and they don't discriminate. They remove the unwanted and wanted particles on the skin. Hope this answers your question.
Actually, it’s still does not. I do reapply sunscreen, true it is mid day when I do so, but it definitely is still on my skin at the end of the day. I can see it on my washcloth when I wash my face. And water is definitely not enough to get it off. I feel like if I did not take it off completely that it would be unhealthy to leave it on my skin. It definitely does not absorb into the skin. It lays on the top of the skin. I use natural mineral sunscreen. I use the tinted version on my face. I use the untinted for my neck and décolleté. Neither product comes off without soap. Thank you very much for the reply, though. I was definitely curious what would be said.
@Mary Faulkner What about burns leading, potentially, to skin cancer? I agree that sunlight can help some ppl with depression. While being out in the sunshine is naturally uplifting, I understand it is the sunlight entering the eyes where receptors help the brain make chemicals (hormones?) that are necessary to combat depression. I’m not medically trained, but I think Andrew Huberman has a video on the connection. That said, I believe limited sun exposure W/O sunscreen is reasonable barring sunburns.
I actually use sunscreen OBSESSIVELY, especially after my dermatologist attributed my fairly young-looking skin to my diligent sunscreen use. I really don’t mess around. So, for me, there IS a SERIOUS build-up on my skin after 6-8, .5 teaspoon applications of tinted, mineral-based sunscreen by the end of the day! It’s to the point where it’s a chore getting it off and I even end up just leaving some of it on me as a result. Oh well. Can it really hurt? I don’t know. I am going to try different products to help remove it, as I think leaving it on can block other actives like a tretinoin product from getting fully absorbed into the skin. Aside from that, the skin has to BREATHE. I got the sunscreen application routine pretty much down. It’s the sunscreen REMOVAL that I don’t yet have down. I mean, it’s a mess - it’s all in my ears, behind my ears and even in my hairline. I can see why people do not use enough sunscreen often enough!
I been using Tretinoin for 5 years and I can honestly say i look younger at 58 than when i was 48..it's taken years off my face, I've never had any adverse reactions including peeling but, I'm an exception to the rule. That being said, i used retinol prior to Retin A, and also had great results but, know your ingredients and sunscreen diligently. Great interview Claire 😊
She makes a lot of good points about taking a more holistic approach to skincare. One point I disagree with-I do think it’s important to use cleanser if you’re using sunscreen daily.
My sunscreen is definitely still visible on my face since I apply twice a day. I cannot go to sleep with all of that on there! I do a double cleanse and that doesn’t dry out my skin at all. I do use mostly mineral sunscreens so it is easy to see on my face.
My friends has ONLY used water and sunscreen on her face for over sixty years and she is gorgeous. My grandmothers used Ponds cold cream tissued off at night and a cold water splash in the morning. They all looked beautiful. I have travelled third world countries where the women do not have skin care routines and do not eat processed foods. Again- they look beautiful.
I discovered Pond's Cold Cream wayyyy back in the early 70's (I'm 68). I would smear it all over my eyes to melt my waterproof mascara; I'd wipe it off after an hour, and noticed over the years it was great for eye wrinkles. I'd wake up in the morning and my skin was soft and plumped. Now that I'm nearly 70 and my skin has become drier, I put it all over my face and neck at night, and by morning it's soft. People always tell me I look very young for my age too.
I’ve only used water and made my own creams ( Shea, coconut, rose hips etc) for years. No face make up. I’ve been careful about sun exposure more often than not. I only smoked very little till the age of 32 and I quit. My 67 yo skin looks like crap. I’m sorry I didn’t take a more aggressive approach to skin care earlier.
I have simplified too. Just kept the micellar water to take off eye makeup. Then sunscreen in the day, and Cerave cream at night. That's it. I am 74, and have skin as good as my mother had who only put on Ponds cream every day and looked great. Celtic skin.
I love this Dr. She is absolutely spot on. I quit working in high end/prestige beauty because of all the bs playing on consumers insecurities to make $. I now work in a drugstore selling inexpensive skincare. And I can tell you from my own experience that I saw better results with these products than with the pricey ones. I dont know how I feel about not using a cleanser as I have to with the make up I wear. I do tell all my customers that if you're not going to wear sunscreen than you're just wasting your money on other skincare. Love this video/interview.
I’ve used tretinoin for 10 yrs. I think probably most people can’t push pass the beginning of using tretinoin because of irritation and flacking of the skin. Takes time and determination to adjust to it, but when the results begin to happen it is well worth it. My skin is thick, pores don’t exist and not one age spot on my face and neck.
tretinoin is amazing it takes the dead skin off fabulously. I used it very sparingly around my eyes and I don't have deep eye wrinkles now and I'm in my 70's. I think if you mix it with moisturizer it's less harsh.I started using it in my teens because I had bad acne.Very pricey in a tube now.
So true 😂. I would be in my office meeting coworkers and just by talking and moving my face muscles my face would peel lol. I stuck through it 8 years later, I alternate between Differin which is a lot cheaper and over the counter.
Sorry, I do not agree with her about the results of using tretinoin! I agree about the sunscreen but I have used Tretinoin at the strongest dose for 20 years, and I truly believe it has kept my skin in great condition. Always receive compliments on my skin even at my upward age🙂
I definitely think there's a percentage of the population for whom tretinoin works brilliantly long-term. I have no doubt about that. But it doesn't work so well for every skin type - some just can't tolerate it.
@The Honest Channel Yes there certainly are people who can't tolerate it but I believe she is saying that for those who can tolerate Retin A is not making a difference and that sunscreen is what works. I think using both is the golden ticket. She seems to be dismissing the benefits of Tretinoin. Not many dermatologists would agree with her.
Thank you for this very informative video. What was omitted, however, and what generally is omitted in the many conversations about the pros and cons of tretenoin use, is that one can use non prescription versions of retinoids (retinol, for example, found in many relatively inexpensive products) which, although they take considerably longer for notable effects, can really help (in my experience, at least) with the fine lines and lack of skin elasticity inherent in aging, with significantly fewer side effects. I am 73 years old and have used sunscreen on my face and neck 365 days a year for more than 30 years. I briefly tried retin A in my late 40s but stopped because of impatience with redness and dryness. My skin remained very youthful in appearance with just daily SPF and moisturizers as needed, but I did notice some fine lines 5 -6 years ago and decided to add retinol at first daily and now 4-5 times a week. The lines vanished over a one year period and, in all honesty, my skin continues to look remarkably young. It does not appear that my facial skin has aged at all in 5 years.I suspect retinoid products may do a better job moderating change for people without severe signs of aging than in correcting deep wrinkles and significant aging, but I don't know if studies have looked at that specifically. Just my thoughts, but I am also an MD and have done some study review.
Good point and it is one that is made by Dr Qian Xu who has appeared on my channel a few times. Her protocol is to start off with tretinoin and then step down to a higher strength retinol.
@Dolores Leonard. You have done exactly what I have done for 40 years. I discovered sunscreen in 1980 and can quite categorically say I have never gone a day without using it on my face. I am 70 and my skin is line free. I have an 11 between my eyebrow but everything else is good. I have used Retin A on and off since 1989, sometimes going for years without but the last 5 (like yourself) 4 or 5 times a week. The best I have found by a mile is the L'Oreal Pure Retinol Serum. It's amazing. The last few months I have also been using Adipeau as I noticed small indentations in the centre of my cheeks. The Adipeau is filling these out. It does seem quite remarkable. But the only thing I would keep of choice is the SPF 50. That is the Holy Grail. Every day all the way!
@@acechadwick Try a silicone patch at night on the 11. I think they help train your facial muscles also, not to over emote, during the day. Another little trick I found is the inexpensive plastic "retainer" on cheap whitening products. It gives definition back to the area surrounding the mouth! Tho whitening effects are dubious lol.
I loved this program and could not admire and respect Dr. Frey more; she is a true scientist with integrity. I appreciate Dr. Frey's discipline, no nonsense approach and honesty.
I mostly wash with water, I have dry skin so I press in some olive oil. I use sunscreen but the damage was done when I was young because we didn't have sunscreen. I am retired so I don't wear makeup everyday. I've been down the skin care rabbit hole. There was a time I used 5 different products to cleanse, tone, serum moisturize ect. My skin is actually much better now. I believe women have been bamboozled by the cosmetic industry.
This was so interesting, Clare! While I agree that sunscreen protects against photoaging, what about those of us who did not have effective sunscreens in our childhood? I played outside year 'round, got burned in the summer frequently, and have wrinkly spotty skin to show for it. I started using weak SPF when they became available, so since my 30s I've been religious about SPF. I'm so confused now if there is anything I can do to make it look better at 75. Regarding cleansing, if we use a lot of mineral SPF and water-resistant SPF, don't we have to use a cleanser to get it off? Or, are we supposed to just build up layers and layers of SPF over the years? What about using oil to break up water-resistant SPF and tinted SPF-- is that out the window, too? Oh so many questions! I bought her book. Thank you for searching for interesting people to interview!!!
Glad you found the interview interesting. I should have asked her which sunscreen she uses and if she just washes it off with water. I will email her with the question though!
@@thehonestchannel Hey Claire, I Love your channel! Would you possibly review mineral sunscreens from companies that are ONLY Cruelty Free please? And maybe some from lesser known, small businesses. And also one's that don't have ANY crap ingredients like methyl/propyl/ parabens, or silicone? And maybe recommendations of one's best for day-to-day, limited sun exposure, & other's more suited to for a long day of sun exposure? I find it Really disheartening that MANY, if not MOST beauty vloggers review makeup & skincare products that aren't cruelty free, yet have pets, that apparently they love; there is this disconnect to the pain & suffering of animals that are so CRUELY used in the testing of these products. The ONLY beauty vlogger that I am aware of that has Banned reviewing ANY Non-Cruelty free product is Elle Leary. If EVERY beauty influencer banned together & Flat out Refused to review Any Non-Cruelty Free product, the industry would be FORCED to change, & change Quickly! This day & age they absolutely rely on beauty influencers to sell their products. If EVERY influencer was made to watch a video on the HEINOUS ABUSE these animals suffer, I don't think that ANYONE would be able to live with their conscience knowing that they were helping to aid & abett this Torturous Cruelty! It's pretty interesting that your guest points to more evidence about how there is really no True scientific evidence that confirms that Tretinoin is actually the "Gold Standard". "Someone" made that up apparently, & everyone has bought it, hook, line, & sinker! I would however, like to know more about the efficacy a Phyto Retinol, like backuchiol. I just don't understand how plain water is supposed to fully take off makeup & sunscreen!? That, I don't buy...but if it works for her, then great.
@@thehonestchannel Yes, please! That was my nr 1 question too. I understand a lot of people do use micellar water to remove their sunscreen but is regular water after that enough? I also use jojoba oil at night over my moisturizer which really helped my dehydrated skin, I am not sure if simply water will get rid of the leftover oil on the skin in the morning. It would be very helpful what her answer is on this topic!
@@CherylBerryl I hear you Cheryl. I mentioned at the end of the video the vegan mineral sunscreen I'm currently using by Versed. I think it's excellent.
This doctor is 100% correct! I worked for The Journal of Drugs in Dermatology and know some of the best derms in the world. MANY use very little on their skin aside from sunscreen. They understand that the skin's microbiome and Ph is self regulating and, aside from inflammatory conditions, should not be disturbed. I have been told many times by derms that they would never advise their skincare routine to their patients. Most simply use an oil to cleanse and sunscreen. I always found this comment strange.
I’m a Tretinoin (rx) fan girl. It reversed all the lines & discoloration from using tanning beds & sunbathing since my early 50s. Am 60 now and I credit careful use of tret for my youthful-again complexion- plus ceasing tanning & faithful application of LRP sunscreens- 40 SPF or higher. I do need gentle cleansers twice a day since I STILL have oily skin…otherwise my skin breaks out. At 60 ugh.
Steroids do thin the skin. Exfoliation isn’t a good idea. Sunscreen is absolutely necessary. Stress is terrible for the skin and sugar should be avoided. But you DO need to wash your damn face. Do it with a cream cleanser if necessary but you need to wash your face! If you don’t get the crap off then you can’t get the good stuff in. And tret does have the studies for anti-ageing. And it isn’t a ‘trivial’ issue…
I know I’m a little late with my comment. This was a fantastic video. Very informative. I would love to get Dr. Frey’s opinion about skin supplements like OneSkin and DNA recovery like Photozyme MD. And all of the other products that the beauty industry is shoving down our throats. I hope she comes back. I love your channel, and I am a subscriber.
Dear Clare - I couldn't love this interview and/or subject any more! 100% on point! I think it is so imperative to truly understand that ultimately skin health is part of whole body health. And much like you and Dr. Frey touched on, the saying "you are what you eat" most definitely applies to skin as well!! I know personally, my skin is infinitely better when I skip sugar for a couple of days. I will never understand how people take a drug (steroids) for a side effect from another drug (tretinoin). But I think that speaks volumes to the marketing power of pharma. And understanding that inflamation is the number one cause of skin aging, why would anyone do this to their skin? Sun damage also is simply inflammation caused by the sun. That is why sun protection is so important. I am now 54, and went on this journey about two years ago. I think I mentioned to you on another one of your posts about Dr. Julia Hunter, and her "whole"istic approach. Her philosophy and attitude towards skincare and marketing is exactly this! All about tested, clean, healthy and healthful ingredients. About treating the body as a whole, including nutrition and excercise, as well as mental health and stress relief! I was such a skincare junkie, always on the hunt for the next great 'IT' product. About a year ago, over a few days I binge watched her YT channel, all her videos that speak of the relation of our diet to our skin, the harmful ingredients in many high priced, and also many so called 'clean' brands. Just submerged myself in exactly this subject. ... For the past year, I have used her products exclusively, and my skin has never looked or felt better. I do also use Truth Treatments 5% Retinol serum twice a week. I would love for you to take the "sunscreen" subject a little further. There has been quite a bit of recent (or recently published) research of especially chemical sunscreens being more damaging than beneficial. I personally have only used physical suncreens for the past two years, and would never put a chemical on my skin ever again. One step further would be the research that it is because of our diet that we even need sunscreen in the first place. The additives in our food that make us susceptible, and that centuries ago people did not need sunscreen, because the food was so rich in antioxidants, minerals and vitamins. ... Truly mind blowing when you start down the rabbit hole :) Dr. Hunter actually also mentions some of the brands that are listed on Dr. Frey's site as having some toxic ingredients. So that would be a whole other video. Thank you for providing actually valuable content! I think we all need to realize what a privilege aging HEALTHFULLY is. Our skin is our largest organ, and it is imperative that we feed it with care.
@@SleeplessinOC I don’t use sunscreen every day - and that’s a whole other discussion about researching the sunscreen debate. When I do, I use Plumscreen fro Le Prunier. Some of the zinc and titanium in some physical sunscreens can also be harmful. Plumscreen is the only thing other than home made that I will use. Truth Treatments also has an excellent ZnO Block. It doesn’t say that it’s a ‘sunblock’, but that’s what it is. Hope this helps. Best of luck
Claire, your skin does look amazing! I finally gave up on Tretinoin a few months ago, after trying off and on for 30+ years...my skin looks better than ever now.
Very very interesting! Thank you for lifting the heavy load from our shoulders . Honestly my grandmother never used anything on her face apart from an olive oil home made soap ( very Lebanese )and she was glowing till the last minute of her life .
Same wih my Greek aunty, Her skin was divine even in her 80s. I haven't been too fussy either, until recently when everything has become a fad. Although always tried to use moisturisers without chemicals which brings me to the subject of sunscreens, don't most of them have yukky chemicals inside? I've just started with sunscreen and just turned 60. But told I look late 40s. In Asia we cant get tretinoin so I use a French brand A313. No irritation whatsoever. I think it's another kind of retinol which is much more gentle and doesn't make my skin sag like the harsh one from boots, No. 7.
Thank you Clare, another take on aging, I find it informative and I'm glad I found you. I'm almost 58 and I've been using spf every day for about 10 years now, before that only on holidays. But eventually I got the "message" and raised my 24 year old daughter with spf every day. My pick is LaRochePosey anthelios 50+ uv mune 400.
Thanks Marleen. I've known for years that it's important but I think I'm only just beginning to realise just how important it is - and what a massive difference it can make when it comes to anti-aging for our skin. You've done the right thing by raising your daughter to wear it daily. Wish I had used it when I was younger.
I appreciate your bringing her to us, but I'm going to take my own advice on this one. I'm 56 and always mistaken for younger than that and can definitely see the difference even 0.025 tretinoin makes in my skin. It is definitely smoother with less blotchiness, and I get hardly any flaking so long as I use a moisturizer over it that is made for dry skin. I may only do it for a year, since I understand you get maximum effect in about that time, but may decide to just keep going since the only downside is not being able to use an even stronger active like glycolic acid those nights I use tret. I have a feeling this doc wouldn't want us using the acids either, so no way to get ahead there. But yes, most of the youthfulness I display now comes from many years of avoiding most sun damage. You can definitely see the spots on my skin where I wasn't doing a good job due to how straw hats were rubbing off the sunscreen without providing complete coverage to that area. It's just that going forward, I'm at an age where more is needed for repair, not just prevention. And I definitely notice that I get clogged pores, bumps, and blackheads if I don't wash with a facial cleanser at least once a day to get off the grime and products from the day. I can at least appreciate her minimalist stance though, being sure to ask ourselves what's actually making a difference for us and focusing just on that. I'm finding more and more things that make a difference these days, based on having enough damage to see improvements being made. I tried a new product combo this weekend that blew me away. It was one sent to me for free with a Medicube device I bought. I now don't want to ever be without that combo, which completely eliminated my forehead wrinkles overnight. Not permanently, but I'd never seen where you do something one day then wake up the next day with absolutely smooth skin where it used to be a bit crepey. I give this as an example to say, let the games continue.
Fortunately, I've had great results with Tretinoin. I'm 55 yo and have no wrinkles or age spots on my face, neck, chest, hands, or arms. A little bit is all it takes with a fragrance-free moisturizer and of course daily SPF.
@@gracekane7807 I use either .05 or .1 once or twice a day. I've built up to it after years of use. In the winter, the only flaking I have is around the nose...so I apply another coat of lotion and Aquaphor before bed (Also around the corners of mouth and eyes).
Same here Wendy. I use 0.1% tretinoin nightly and it has considerably thickened my skin. I always wear sunscreen and still use other actives here and there, but nothing else has achieved what tretinoin has.
I live in high altitude, thus drier skin. I use water along with organic witch hazel. I do exfoliate twice a week. I do use essential oils to moisture my skin. Our skin, being largest organ requires good nutrition, sleep, less stress. I prefer zinc in protection. I avoid the chemicals, which are included in many suncare products.
Does this doctor know that the base of all sunscreen is a moisturizer. Most sunscreens are very toxic. She sounds a little crazy. She’s not selling anything but she’s selling a book. I don’t know much 78-year-old woman from West Virginia never used any high-end productsAnd always always always avoided sunscreen.
Please correct me if I'm wrong but I haven't seen any studies that have shown harmful effects of sunscreen in humans. Meanwhile the incidence of preventable skin cancer continues to increase year on year.
I wash my hands with soap/cleanser. Why wouldn't I do the same with my face? I use a mild cleanser to remove dirt, pollution, etc. I guess she never rode the subway in New York.
Thanks Clare, that was just what I needed to hear. I have had persistent perioral dermatitis and I decided to try leaving my skin alone. I haven’t cleansed or put anything on my face for two days and my skin is looking so much better! The amount of products out there is overwhelming and I have shifted my focus to sleep, exercise, diet and stress management. I agree with Dr Frey about laughter ❤😂
❤️Wow…her take on Tret is so much better than that abrasive guy‼️…she has such a great message…and doesn’t sell anything, so I’ll listen to her. Love her take on marketing, chemicals etc. Went to her website…wonderful ‼️
That's the same thing everyone else (derms and beauticians) says. I wonder why the only brands of face cleansers on her website are Neutrogena, Cetaphil, Dove, Vanicream and Aveeno?!🤔🙄🤭🤫 I don't like any of those 😅
Another video spreading false information and misleading medical information. It’s time these youtubers are held accountable for allowing doctors to say things without providing any medical literature to prove their theories and claims.
Excuse me? Everything stated by this doctor and others on this channel can be clearly evidenced. I would like you to point to anything here or in my previous videos that cannot be substantiated? Just because you don't agree with the views expressed does not mean it's false information.
That was really interesting. European women (and French women in particular) don't mess round with their skin as much as women the US and UK. They believe in leaving it to do its own thing, only usiga few simple products and not constantly touching their face. I only cleanse my face in the evening and just splash it with water in the morning. I don't see why I need to - I only just cleansed it and then went to sleep! I'e always been amazed at how literally everyone's grandma when I was young had amazing, soft skin despite rarely using sunscreen - which wasn't rally a "thing" until the 90's. They all seemed to just use Astral cream!
Until I turned 50 I never used anything except water and moisturiser on my face, I was lucky, I always had great skin without any issues. But like you I was an avid sun worshiped and started to see sun damage appearing here and there. Since the menopause I’ve noticed a massive deterioration in the look and feel of my skin so I’ve gradually introduced a thorough regime. My skin looks and feels sooo much better now I’m in my late 50’s than it did 5 years ago. So I agree somewhat with your guest’s viewpoint but I do think it all changes around menopause and we ignore it at our peril!
Always intrigued by controversial ideas…but I’m not sure I can get behind not washing off sunscreen. Curious about her thoughts on oil/balm cleansers. Also extremely disappointed in her website, only a few drug store brands represented…it looks like a Neutrogena sponsorship 😕. BUT, I am such a fan of this channel, you are doing amazing work, even if I don’t agree with what I hear I am grateful for hearing it!!! I appreciate you so much!!!!!!
I agree about the Drs website. Not much info and not many products. I think it all comes down to using what works for you and your skin. Its definitely not a one size fit all thing.
Some people only hear what they want to hear. A product does NOT need to be expensive to provide the necessary benefits. But if spending lots of money on a product that doesn’t provide any more benefit makes you feel better then go for it.
I love Tretinoin and I love sunscreen. My favourite sunscreen is Mad about Skin spf 50. Can be purchased in the UK online. Thanks for a very interesting video.
Wow, mind blown. Its like telling a 5 year old there is not Santa, Easter Bunny, and Tooth Fairy. It is making me rethink everything I have believed about skincare. Great interview. I dont see anyone else on UA-cam tackling this issue. Women are victims of the fashion, make-up, and skincare industry for sure.
You know she's right about sunscreen 110%. My skin never looked better until I started using a quality sunscreen 46 spf. Skin care has become a business pure and simple.
I listened to a Korean woman who said Koreans don't go crazy with tretinoin like Westerners and they most don't use it. I'm in Asia and we can't get tretinoin, so I use A313, retinaldahyde, a French brand which is not irritating and is gentle. I tried the boots one but it made my skin sag and too strong I think. I don't buy cleanser and just use a healthy, non chemical soap. I've only just started to use sunscreen, but most of them have chemicals. All the products Dr Frey stated seems to have chemicals which I'm not keen on, but she does make good points. Everything has become a fad and every woman is now freaking over sun, I don't think that's healthy either, it gives us vit D and is a source from mother nature. People don't believe my age but am also young at heart, difficult to tell myself. However my Greek aunt had beautiful skin, even in her 80s, she didn't put anything on her skin but ate lots of olive oil and delicious Greek food..
@@thehonestchannel yes it's very healthy and balanced. I miss it very much, as don't get alot of it here. In the Uk, London at least you get, some really good Cypriot Greek food.
Sunscreen no matter whether its mineral or chemical, when used on my face, it makes my eyes nearly jump out of their sockets. Also, what do you use when the damage is already done?
Gill what works for me is: Take the sunscreen up to the bone under the eye socket and then I use Burt Bees 40% zinc diaper cream (which doesn't sting around the eyes). It's a phenomenal sunblock but it does leave a white cast. However I then put make up on top and you can''t see it.
This is so sensible. I just started watching skincare videos and they all seem like salespeople to me. No one mentions all the ingredients. I mix olive oil and sugar and only use that on face and body to cleans, never soaps. I experimented with oils and found some I love: apricot oil, jojoba, coconut, cocobutter, etc. No fancy concoctions with chemicals for me. Common sence.
I have heard that Bakuchiol and also rose hip seed oil have similar benefits as retinoids without any irritation. Does anyone know if this is true? If sunscreen is applied to the hands, does it need to be reapplied every time you wash your hands? What are some good sunscreens? Can anyone recommend?
Don't smoke, drink alcohol in extreme moderation, don't use recreational drugs and most importantly, don't lay out in the sun. If you must lay out, use sunscreen..... ALL over.
I am 55 and I’m mistaken constantly for 40 . I have hardly ever washed my face with cleansers. I’ve sometimes used oils to clean or a mud mask when I know I’ve used non water soluble product. I eat really well , intermittent fast and work out. My favorite skin product that has actually visibly done something is Adipeau and my favorite product I trust is helping is SPF . I never used it when I was younger but I believe it’s never too late to start and it will all make a difference. Side note : I look younger now than I did in my 40s . Your channel is amazing and I love that you find amazing experts that bring out their truths even though it may go against the grain. How else are we to continue progressing?
I wasn't blessed with good aging genes, and I can say the Adipeau is the only (non SPF) product that's made any improvement. It's a really great product that I would never have known about, if not for Clare/Honest Channel. 😊
My sister is 47, I am 45...she has never ever looked after her skin...never...not even a sunscreen...no sun glasses.....nothing at all..........I think her skin is better than mine....I have always looked after mine....but yeah....I feel her skin is aging better....interesting....
Ask women that have been cycling tretinoin for over twenty years I bet you will find almost all look a decade younger, that’s ME! (Don’t bash tretinoin just bc ppl don’t know how to cycle it properly)
This was SO illuminating! I tried Tret for several years off and on, and it only disrupted my skin and caused worse hyperpigmentation and sensitivity. I’m now trying to correct issues I didn’t have before starting. Thank you for this interview🙂.
Hello Clare from Illinois, U.S.A. I'm a new subscriber who has been using various sunscreens for 49 years. When I was twenty, I read an article in one of my mother's magazines that described the discovery about daily sunscreen use as an aging preventative. I'm now 69 and people are shocked when they find out how old I am. In the 70's, all I had was Coppertone SPF 4, so I used that on my face every morning under my makeup. I have used Eucerin Daily sunscreen lotion, SPF 30, for years. It is the only thing I put on my face in the morning under my makeup, mostly due to its non-irritating, lightweight and silky texture. The real key to choosing products is how they make your skin feel. We need things that we will happily and consitently use.
So I'm 51, I've been using sunscreen everyday, for decades and only using water to clean my face and exfoliate with a wash cloth in the shower. Just recently I started thinking because I'm getting older I need to do what "mature" women do and get on a cleanser/anti aging product skin care routing even though I'm constantly getting told I do not look my age. Then I find this video and discover I'm doing it right after all! My instincts have always told me we didn't need much for the skin. I will say I have neglected my hands when it comes to sunscreen so I will do better in between washings. Just saved me a ton of money lol.
I wear SPF fingerless gloves, as reapplication of sunscreen to the hands is a mess, plus hand washing makes it harder to keep hands protected by sunscreen alone.
I use sunscreen directly on my skin due to the climate I live in. It's hot and humid. I use a mild retinol cream (Neutrogena) at night. I do use a cleanser. I'm 75 and my skin is fine.
I have used it for several years. No one believes I’m the age I am. My skin is beautiful and I have very few wrinkles. That is important to me. There are ways to get your skin used to it. I do agree like anything else that you succeed at you need to be consistent. If aging gracefully is sitting back and doing nothing for your health and well-being…… that’s not me.
I use baby wipes to clean my make up off, but I use soap and water in the morning. I have used Oil Of Olay all my life since sixteen and today at 85 years old I do not have wrinkles on my face.
I am a man, and have had an interesting healing journey. Always with as natural an approach as I could find, healing causes and starting inside. That said, my skin has improved the most dramatically as I have healed my gut and blood-brain barrier with L-glutamine, as well as eliminating intake of processed sugar and processed foods in general. I have healed a lifelong autoimmune condition that I only discovered was just that about a year ago after watching a friend fully heal from lifelong eczema in about a year using this general protocol. Her skin went from being very abrasive in places to baby soft after that year. What I am trying to say is that we can do all we want to topically and lifestyle (exercising, avoiding smoking), but if we have any repair needed in the gut lining, it WILL show up on the skin. I am 55 now, gut healed and skin getting softer and tighter all the time! Hydration has helped, as well, and I also use a little creatine and find this also has had a big impact on my hydration and skin. I hope this helps over and above the information in the video, which was refreshing to hear! : )
@@rosamejia9295 Since it was the gut lining, L-Glutamine is THE thing I took, as it's main job is to build the stomach lining (my skin got softer on the outside, too!). While doing this, I also completely cut out processed sugars and foods for a few months. I have since eaten a bit, here and there, though I find I don't even want to any more. Hope this helps!
I am not outside on the everyday basis and I do now walk outside in the sun. Sunscreen is a MEDICATION and the long term effects of it applications everyday is yet to be discovered as it penetrates every cell of the body and is found even in breast milk. So I do not consider it to be a reasonable approach if you are actually not even outside. Sure, applying sunscreen, especially good one, helps the skin, as it is basically a moisturizer with added medication for UV protection. The same will happen if you just apply plain good moisturizer every day…
The doctor has good points. I see improvement using tret because maybe I have problems more than just for anti aging benefit to begin with. And don't forget the genetic part. For those blessed people, they can go minimalist. It does not really apply to me. I was minimalist for more than 20 years enough to see the damage and seek help from skincare products.
I haven’t found a sunscreen that my facial skin will tolerate daily. Currently, Skin1004 Madagascar Centella Air-fit Suncream Light SPF 30 PA++++ and Vanicream Facial Moisturizer Broad Spectrum SPF 30 are the two I can successfully alternate. If I use a water resistant sunscreen, I have to use a cleanser to remove it. If I don’t, my skin starts having a rash. Also, after months of using nothing more than tap water on my face and watching my skin age quickly, I returned to using skincare products and watched my skin look healthier and less obviously wrinkled. My already sensitive skin became more sensitive using just water, too. Obviously, her method doesn’t work for me and may not for those of us with dry and/or sensitive skin.
You will always find that one doctor that goes against the general consensus and will give personal opinions about stuff: immunologists against the covid vaccine, dermatologists debunking skincare etc. The important message is: do what makes you feel good.
I wouldn’t feature someone anti vaccine but I do try to feature a range of opinions from interesting and well versed specialists. Basically I talk to people who interest me.
@@thehonestchannel i looked up Dr. Faye and she has 0 publications or peer reviewed research, which is very rare for a specialist even in dermatologist. I hope you are not just cherry picking “specialists” anti-retin-A, while I am understanding it did not work for you I can ensure the published data confirming its efficacy are phenomenal.
@@skinme2340 She’s a published author and a highly experienced dermatologist. I interviewed another highly experienced derm and published author recently on the channel who is an advocate of tretinoin. That’s what I mean by a range of views.
@@thehonestchannel she is author of a book (not peer reviewed publication with data, insight or anything related to science findings) that insinuates skincare is basically BS, in my personal opinion she is not an expert and not a relevant source. I apologize if I haven’t looked at previous videos, but I watched the one with Dr. Galanin, not a doctor or a scientist either. I think you want to do something good here, opening a discussion and have an open mind, I am just not sure about the reputable sources you are inviting and presenting. I also want to say thank you for sharing all this content and of course your time. I am a scientist with a passion for skincare, I can’t tolerate irrelevant doctors discrediting years and years of publications.
@@skinme2340 I can't agree that they're irrelevant. Each person I interview on this channel comes with a proven track record- in Ivan's case as a pharmaceutical research and development strategist. But I will say I am always open to suggestions of interesting scientists, clinicians and specialists to interview on this channel so please feel free to suggest some - and thank you for watching! I appreciate it.
Thank you for these interviews and for your investigative work, Clare. This is my favorite skincare channel (and there are a lot to choose from). Please keep the good and varied information coming. I’m a big fan.
If she doesn't cleanse then how does she feel about chemical exfoliation and peels? I agree that most people are probably washing their faces too frequently and with too harsh of cleansers, but as long as you're using a gentle cleanser with moisturizing ingredients you're not doing your skin a disservice at all. On another note she probably has hella eye mites feasting on mascara residue that definitely does not come off with just water alone
I have used trenoin for 5 years. It completely changed my skin and took wrinkles away from my face. It took about ten months to get used to I started with a very low dose and I'm only at .50 , but it's done the trick for me 19:35
@TheHonestChannel I'm so grateful for the simple yet wonderful information. I've been buying expensive creams etc. Just sunscreen and a simple moisturizer sound so freeing. I'll probably keep using the tretinoin because I'm probably the 10% it works for. Bless you for helping us !
I’m 62 and my skin looks pretty good for my age. It was not always the case. I had acne as a teenager, back in those days the dermatologists used to break the pimples, therefore many scars. I used Clinique for over thirty five years and then one year I had major eczema on my eyelids and under eye. I heard about CeraVe and tried it’s products. The only product that healed my severe eczema. I use Elta sunscreen too. No creams for wrinkles etc. my facial skin has calmed down and looks pretty good. It looks like when I simplified my routine my skin thanked me. I also take vitamins that I need. ❤️
I enjoyed this interview..some good points made-especially sunscreen! No need to fix if you don’t do damage!! Different topic.. a few videos back you mentioned what collagen supplement you used and I don’t remember which video! I’m really enjoying the one I am using, especially because it has zero taste and is easy to add into coffee. Would you mind sharing which one you are using and if it has a flavor. I’m so happy with the changes I’m seeing with it…and look forward to any help getting something possibly better! Thanks ..really enjoy your channel!!🎉
Glad you enjoyed the interview. I'm using Codeage Multi Collagen Peptides powder. It does have a slight taste because it isn't flavored but I can't taste it if I stir it into coffee or into Greek or natural coconut yoghurt with my breakfast. I'm planning to do a video about collagen powders in the next couple of weeks.
@@keinohrtini 2 weeks I noticed my knee no longer hurt when doing my daily walk and I have now stopped using a sleeve on that knee for stability. My skin was less dry and refreshed looking after a month…same for my nails and hair which grows like a weed after 2 months. I’m now 4 months in and my energy and mood have greatly improved. Being older, the increased protein reminds me to be more aware of my intake and that helps my muscle strength. I will not be without it. I would say a few weeks to start seeing changes… I feel it is worth every penny I spend. (PS..I also gave up ALL added sugar and refined foods and no alcohol. I think that helps with getting rid of puffiness and dehydration. I am almost a year with those changes which I think helps too)
@@Barb6106 thank you for sharing! I only recently found a way to consume collagen without the taste. I am not a coffee drinker and only now I realized I can dissolve it in tea too! 😂
it seems like mineral sunscreens always leave a cast and chemical sunscreens make my skin greasy. plus a lot of us want to decrease age spots. too late to prevent them. or treat fine lines , not prevent them. again too late. i guess i almost feel like its too late for sunscreen for me!
My skin has NEVER liked sunscreen. I don’t know why. I’m allergic to many things. Always felt an annoying film. Plus my skin is oily (less oily now) so it would feel very oily under the sunscreen. Also, being in the hot, humid southern USA, I’d sweat it off quickly. What sunscreens do y’all use? Preferably Cruelty Free products.
I’ve never used retinol & I never will. I didn’t like the thought it could cause a sensitivity to the sun. I’ve never used a cleanser, just water, which is great to hear it isn’t required. My mum used to use water to cleanse too. I believed I didn’t require it, because I’ve never used foundation. Plus I’m a bit lazy! I have some wrinkles but loved the sun too much to avoid it (no sunscreen). Last year I decided not to expose my skin to the sun, as my neck has laxity. I take supplements & eat healthy food. I do look a lot younger than my soon to be 60 years!
Fabulous interview. We need to start loving how healthy ageing naturally looks. I think a healthy, confident, ageing lady is more beautiful than someone lacking confidence and obviously had loads of work and looks stretched and lifted. Natural is perfectly beautiful! And the interviewer is beautiful at 50! Thank you….your channel is amazing!
Thank you so much for always bringing great content. I would really like a conversation around the connection between chemical sunscreen and hormonal health. I am a sunscreen user - I am finding it hard to find a good mineral one but dabble in both types - and I am wondering when it comes to our hormones, if the benefits far outweigh the disadvantages in this regard.
@@thehonestchannel It gets pretty confusing with conflicting information available but it’s a really important topic (even unsexier than just talking about the benefits of sunscreen) that doesn’t receive enough attention. So thank you and I look forward to it.
I have been using Tretinion for two years daily for acne. My skin is not inflamed by it. It has not improved my lines. I still get acne too but it helps. I wear 50+ sunscreen everyday.
Clare, great interview. I have been looking at all my products and thinking this is too much. Lol I have stopped buying expensive ones cause honesty I haven't noticed any difference. Lol
Annie, so glad you enjoyed the interview. Clare is quite the professional and makes it very easy. Let me assure you, after testing products for many years, there is no correlation between the cost of a cosmetic moisturizer and well it works. Stay well!
I tried using Neutrogena Sheer Zinc Face Dry-Touch Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 50 For Sensitive Skin and broke out horribly from it! After carefully reviewing the ingredients, I discovered that the product (like Aveeno) contains Oat (flour). Oats that aren't produced, packaged, and farmed in a certified gluten-free location will place people with coeliac disease at risk for a reaction, even if only applied topically. Live and learn. I now use La Roche-Posay, and it is brilliant!
Can you tell me which LaRoche Posey sunscreen you use? Dr. Frey mentions Anthelios melt in sunscreen SPF 60. Never tried LRP, but see they are reasonably priced at drugstore. Thanks
She didn't mention elderly ppl who tend to have dry skin. What kind of skin do you have? Sunscreen tends to dry my skin too. I have a very hard keeping my skin dehydrated!
Great video Clare, very interesting. I use Dr. Denese tinted day cream spf 40. It's very nice and blends in with your skin tone and is very emollient too. Dr. Denese has very nice products for both anti aging and just regular simple maintenance. Another product I liked was the Vichy brand. Easy to get in CVS and has nice results. Thank you for clearing up some of the mystery surrounding skin care. 🙏💕
I use sunscreen everyday,I have not always been diligent as it’s taken a lot of product testing before I found a brand that I could wear every day as part of my skin care routine. I use Tizo sunscreen, I work in a very dehydrating environment as a flight attendant and this keeps my skin looking hydrated. I have to ensure that when I’m flying I avoid products with hyaluronic acid as there’s no water to pull from in my environment. HA definitely makes my skin look dehydrated at work.
A few viewers have asked how you can just wash off sunscreen with water as Dr Frey suggested she does. I emailed her to ask about it and have included her response below : )
Dr Frey said: Your viewers asked a great question.
I think the doctor left out the use of a mechanical aid like a facecloth or sponge. I doubt she meant just splashing water on your face?
Great answer on “good old sunshine” :)
Me too. Totally works.
She makes a lot of good points about taking a more holistic approach to skincare. One point I disagree with-I do think it’s important to use cleanser if you’re using sunscreen daily.
I agree as many sunscreen filters are oil soluble and sunscreens in general are emulsions. Lukewarm water is not enough for me to get it off fully.
Me too.
My sunscreen is definitely still visible on my face since I apply twice a day. I cannot go to sleep with all of that on there! I do a double cleanse and that doesn’t dry out my skin at all. I do use mostly mineral sunscreens so it is easy to see on my face.
Especially mineral sunscreen. There is residue even after washing.
And also if we live in a really metropolitan area. Lots of city toxins floating around that I don't want to leave on my skin.
@Karen Tralies When I was young I did have oily skin, and only used Pond's Cold Cream around my eyes. Now that I'm nearly 70 though, my skin is drier.
They have lots of sunshine and good natural food, colder climates obviously don’t have that
I have simplified too.
Thank you Michelle
What is the best sunscreen to use?
I’ve used tretinoin for 10 yrs. I think probably most people can’t push pass the beginning of using tretinoin because of irritation and flacking of the skin. Takes time and determination to adjust to it, but when the results begin to happen it is well worth it. My skin is thick, pores don’t exist and not one age spot on my face and neck.
It took me 2 years to adjust to trentinoin. My chin, lips and tip of my nose was red and peeling in parts on most days for 2 years. It was so worth it.
tretinoin is amazing it takes the dead skin off fabulously.
Yes.. It took my skin 2 years to finally see the results WITHOUT the drying and flaking... So glad I HUNG IN THERE!!!👍🏻
Sorry, I do not agree with her about the results of using tretinoin!
@@gabbys7719she denies the data and thousands other dermatologists.. interesting
@SoundofSilence Ooh good one! Thank you. How long do you keep the retainer in? I love tips like this!

Thanks for sharing your experience!

Hey Claire, I Love your channel!
This doctor is 100% correct! I worked for The Journal of Drugs in Dermatology and know some of the best derms in the world. MANY use very little on their skin aside from sunscreen. They understand that the skin's microbiome and Ph is self regulating and, aside from inflammatory conditions, should not be disturbed. I have been told many times by derms that they would never advise their skincare routine to their patients. Most simply use an oil to cleanse and sunscreen. I always found this comment strange.
Very interesting!

You are very welcome. Thank you for you kind words.
At 60 ugh.
Glad somebody finds tretinoin cream beneficial
My girlfriend is 58 and only uses sunscreen! She looks 20 years younger! Amazing
Thanks for sharing your views!
This was excellent!! Definitely going to pick up the book and check out the site. Thank You so much.
Thank you Tina.
Thanks for another brilliant interview. You look fantastic!!!

The additives in our food that make us susceptible, and that centuries ago people did not need sunscreen, because the food was so rich in antioxidants, minerals and vitamins. ... Truly mind blowing when you start down the rabbit hole :)
Dr.
I'll definitely look into sunscreen more closely and do a video on it because a lot of people are asking about chemicals in sunscreens etc.
Which physical sunscreen do you use ? I just can’t deal with the white cast that seems impossible to fully work into the skin .
Thanks Dana! Great to hear your skin is happy : )
Very very interesting! Thank you for lifting the heavy load from our shoulders . Honestly my grandmother never used anything on her face apart from an olive oil home made soap ( very Lebanese )and she was glowing till the last minute of her life .
🔆 I just love it
Same wih my Greek aunty, Her skin was divine even in her 80s. 7.
What is the brand name of the French product you use?
@@esthermccormack A313
Thank you Clare, another take on aging, I find it informative and I'm glad I found you.
Hope your Vit D levels are ok

@@valerie4975 Unless you put sunscreen on every corner of your skin including the scalp, she should be fine 😊
Love this! ❤ So interesting. Thanks, Claire!
Glad you enjoyed it!
So intriguing! Would you mind sharing the name of these products? Are they for sale to the general public? Thank you! ☺️
I hear you, and I don't think I could cut back that much on skincare either - I enjoy it too much!
@@stephanieilluzzi7355buy the medicube device or check their website. 😅
Fortunately, I've had great results with Tretinoin. I'm 55 yo and have no wrinkles or age spots on my face, neck, chest, hands, or arms. A little bit is all it takes with a fragrance-free moisturizer and of course daily SPF.
Good to hear it's working for you. There are definitely a group of people for whom tret seems to work brilliantly.
Can I ask how often you use ..I'm using .025 twice a week and any more often has a terrible flaking effect
@@josie4peace so you use Tretinoin once or twice a day? Or once or twice a week at night?
I live in high altitude, thus drier skin. I use water along with organic witch hazel. I do exfoliate twice a week. I do use essential oils to moisture my skin. Our skin, being largest organ requires good nutrition, sleep, less stress. I prefer zinc in protection. I avoid the chemicals, which are included in many suncare products.
This was eye opening sadly I've been anti sun screen but no more
Glad you found it helpful.
Another very interesting interview!
Sunscreen has been proven to protect skin, the sun is a proven carcinogen.
I love the conversation!! And your sense of humor, ladies! Thx!
@lindsayfarquharson, you say you haven't cleansed or put anything on your face for two days but did you wash it with soap and water , explain please.
I take borage gummies! Got hair & skin Nordic naturals
Been using retin A for 10 years. I’m 78. Look 60.
❤️Wow…her take on Tret is so much better than that abrasive guy‼️…she has such a great message…and doesn’t sell anything, so I’ll listen to her. Love her take on marketing, chemicals etc. Went to her website…wonderful ‼️
Thank you so much!
She is correct. The marketing around skincare has become outrageously ridiculous. Sunscreen is the answer to beautiful skin.
That's the same thing everyone else (derms and beauticians) says.
I wonder why the only brands of face cleansers on her website are Neutrogena, Cetaphil, Dove, Vanicream and Aveeno?!🤔🙄🤭🤫
I don't like any of those 😅
Another video spreading false information and misleading medical information.
I appreciate that, thank you. Life would be boring if we all said and did the same thing. ❤️
I’d like to hear her thoughts on eczema. Both adult and baby
Just using water to clean your face will give you horrendous blackheads on your nose in particular, if your skin is oily.
I love Tretinoin and I love sunscreen. My favourite sunscreen is Mad about Skin spf 50. Can be purchased in the UK online. Thanks for a very interesting video.
Great to hear - thank you!
Another amazing interview…thank you
Thank you!
Just about to run the first of a two-part conversation with a skin microbiome expert this weekend which is even more mind-blowing!
You know she's right about sunscreen 110%. My skin never looked better until I started using a quality sunscreen 46 spf. Skin care has become a business pure and simple.
❤️❤️
Sunscreen does nothing but give me acne.😢
Which brand do you use? I'm always looking to find good quality sunscreen.
Elta MD mineral clear is my favorite
Thanks for sharing your experience. The Greek diet seems to be where it’s at in terms of healthy living!
Glad you enjoy the channel and thank you for your support!! Thanks too for sharing what works for you 🥰
It's great that you have good genes. However it doesn't prove that anti aging products don't work.
Great interview! Looking forward to exploring the website! Thank you both!
Thank you Jill
This was SO illuminating! I tried Tret for several years off and on, and it only disrupted my skin and caused worse hyperpigmentation and sensitivity. I’m now trying to correct issues I didn’t have before starting. Thank you for this interview🙂.
Thanks ladies for the info.
Glad you found it helpful! I too need to start applying sunscreen to the back of my hands!
I truly love your channel. Keep doing the best work ❤️
Babyganics is the only sunscreen I use. Have used it for 10 years. It works very well as a primer under my foundation.
I love that one too.
Good old Olay!
Nivea (blue metal original) is the best moisturizer. Cost $1 and is proven better than the most expensive anti-aging in a Swedish program.
You guys don’t even get the original one if you’re buying it in the States. it’s a different formula
This reinforces my idea that staying at a low-potency retinoid is better, for me, than trying to ramp up the chain.
Thanks for sharing this and I’m really pleased to hear you’re feeling better.
What did you use to cure your gut.
Great interview. Thank you. I love dr. Fry’s attitude and her skin is amazing!
Thanks Kathy!
Thank you for your kind sentiments Kathy.
How do you get sunscreen off with water?
I emailed Dr Frey re that so I'll pin her reply in the comments.
Thanks for sharing your experience.

I’m so happy with the changes I’m seeing with it…and look forward to any help getting something possibly better! Thanks ..really enjoy your channel!!🎉
how long have you been using your collagen before you saw changes?
Glad you enjoyed the interview. I'm using Codeage Multi Collagen Peptides powder. It does have a slight taste because it isn't flavored but I can't taste it if I stir it into coffee or into Greek or natural coconut yoghurt with my breakfast. I'm planning to do a video about collagen powders in the next couple of weeks.

@@keinohrtini hooray! Anything to get it in…adding to protein drink works well too.
I hope you are doing well with it!
it seems like mineral sunscreens always leave a cast and chemical sunscreens make my skin greasy. plus a lot of us want to decrease age spots. too late to prevent them. or treat fine lines , not prevent them. again too late. i guess i almost feel like its too late for sunscreen for me!
Does Dr Frey have a UA-cam account ? or somewhere to follow her ? Thank you !!
Absolutely LOVED this interview, Dr Frey is fabulous as are you Claire for bringing these experts to UA-cam ❤❤❤
Thank you!
Thank you Linda
Fabulous interview. We need to start loving how healthy ageing naturally looks. I think a healthy, confident, ageing lady is more beautiful than someone lacking confidence and obviously had loads of work and looks stretched and lifted. Natural is perfectly beautiful!
And the interviewer is beautiful at 50! Thank you….your channel is amazing!
🥰
Thank you so much for always bringing great content. I would really like a conversation around the connection between chemical sunscreen and hormonal health. I am a sunscreen user - I am finding it hard to find a good mineral one but dabble in both types - and I am wondering when it comes to our hormones, if the benefits far outweigh the disadvantages in this regard.
I will look more closely into chemicals in sunscreen and do a video.
@@thehonestchannel It gets pretty confusing with conflicting information available but it’s a really important topic (even unsexier than just talking about the benefits of sunscreen) that doesn’t receive enough attention. So thank you and I look forward to it.
Malin & Goetz has a lovely non tinted physical sunscreen
I have been using Tretinion for two years daily for acne. My skin is not inflamed by it. It has not improved my lines. I still get acne too but it helps. I wear 50+ sunscreen everyday.
Clare, great interview. I have been looking at all my products and thinking this is too much. Lol I have stopped buying expensive ones cause honesty I haven't noticed any difference. Lol
I hear you!
Annie, so glad you enjoyed the interview. Clare is quite the professional and makes it very easy. Let me assure you, after testing products for many years, there is no correlation between the cost of a cosmetic moisturizer and well it works. Stay well!
I love your channel! Subscribed.
Welcome - and thank you!
Thanks for sharing your experience!
That's really interesting, thanks for the tip Christine!
am a flight attendant too from Malaysia.gonna try Tizo.thanks Christine❤
@@kironsidhu1615 oh great! Hope Tizo works for you! Happy flying and safe travels 🛫 I just got home (Canada) from a flight 😊
