Before I even watch this video I want to say thanks! I know I might be late here but it’s crazy how there’s a lack of such content online. I’ve graduated with Master, had several great roles in management, worked around the world, yet this lack of confidence is destroying me! Every time I start a new job I get anxious to not meet KPIs, I always think I’m under qualified for the role, and that Ive been hired out of luck! I often realise that most people in their jobs have little experience or knowledge yet they are respected and make themselves look smart and important because they are confident! I wish everyone to overcome this issue, I think the best way is to step out for a sec and remember we’re not defined by our job.
Thank you so much for reaching out and sharing. Believe it not, this is a common "story" many people tell themselves. You aren't alone in this. So many great achievers secretly fear they'll be found out as a fraud in what they do. Head over to my website and download my free ebook. I think you'll get a lot out of it. Here's a link: www.socialconfidencecenter.com/products/5-steps-to-unleash-your-inner-confidence/ Let me know what you think!
You said it well sir I struggled for year in my job role. Our jobs do not define us.
I'm so fucking happy your alive
Me too! :)
Your confidence ,makes you so attractive. Like a magnet
#TRUTH
Wow, that's so true, i always worry about keeping my job, not making mistakes and not getting fired. That s what gives me anxiety, everything you said is so on point
Watching this as a 16 year old with a new job in retail. I feel so awkward but this helped with the mindset
That's so great to hear!
Hi Dr. Aziz,
Thank you massively. This is truly gold!
I suffer from authority anxiety and is just my experience at work!
The idea of slavery is spot on, though I have never heard it expressed in that way before.
I have felt enslaved (so trapped) in those three areas of my life in terms of what I _must_ do:
1 - Culture/Society.
2 - Law.
3 - The Employer, the line manager, the boss.
It’s where I _must_ be the man of the highest calibre, yes that 100% perfection, that Superman that you mention, especially for women, and that I _must submit to authority!_
The notion of losing everything - job, woman, home, life - has been my lifelong fear (it’s a good job that I live singly at the moment!).
It’s interesting that my primary title, and most poignant title, that I have felt most a slave, is “gentleman”, which goes along with Superman, Spartacus, James Bond, etc. I am being a slave or 'slave' to the culture.
So when in Rome, I _must_ do as the Romans do, (I have called it the ‘Rome cage’) and If I don't ...... AAAARRRRGGGGHHHH! 😬😲☹🤐
I am living that dream at work, that of draughtsperson, and have done since 1987 and have fought through my fears in all that time!
Now, I need to find the confidence that _I_ want, and _not_ the confidence that I am told to have, tell those ‘tellers’ to ‘do one’, and not to rely on the ‘authority’ to ‘approval’, a kind of ‘Please sir, am I doing this right?’
Goodbye ‘Eeyore’ and hello ‘Tigger’! 🐯
This is so on point! I may share this perspective with my company to help management understand the mental health of their employees✊🏾
Awesome!
This helped me with my anxiety. Thx
That's so awesome to hear!
A woman here. I've been watching a few of your videos every once in a while and trying to slowly shift my mindset!
My daughter showed me your videos, and oh man, do they hit home. I am the biggest ass kisser in a social setting especially at jobs. I smile constantly, worry obsessively about what I say, how I act.. will everyone like me. I would say "good morning" to everyone at work, every single morning, first. Starting new jobs, I would put my hand out to introduce myself to each and every worker there. They'd look at me like I was from another planet. I would always tell myself, "do not say hello first, let them acknowledge you one time," but I would always give in and say hello because it felt so awkward to not acknowledge them.. though I wondered why they didn't seem to care if they greeted me. I hated the awkward silences if alone with someone. I would ask them about their lives, how they're doing, how they're kids are.. etc.. And, never ever did anyone ask about my life. I would leave work, say bye to everyone every single time I left, and one day I remember I told myself, "Do not say bye to these people." They watched me clock out, and leave and no one acknoweldged me leaving. It was very hard to not say "have a good night, see ya later" but I didn't. It felt good on one hand, but also an isolation that was uncomfortable. I have noticed that the more nice I am to co-workers, the more they seem to dislike me. So, watching your videos has helped me see what I'm doing wrong, and is helping me change my ways. I have felt alone in my awkwardness and anxiety my whole life.. never feeling like I fit in. I appreciate your videos.
hey Kim, you and I share the same feeling and way of life. I am a guy and probably way younger than you but the feeling I am having exactly matches yours. I am tired of being this all good guy. I am reading about other people and their way of life and now i don't think i am alone out there. I am learning to be better and I hope you will be better too. Cheers !!!
Kim Walker Hi, me too, Everyone at work is ignorant, I would be the one to say hi, receiving no acknowledgement, I thought why should I change to suit them ,so now I talk if they do first, people only like talking about themselves..x.
Thank you for sharing this. Check out a newer video of mine expanding on being less nice (more selfish): ua-cam.com/video/4rPCuz2p4RQ/v-deo.html And, this topic is so important, I wrote an entire book dedicated to it! See it here: www.NotNiceBook.com
Your message about being able to face the fear of being fired could be applied to many different fears. I freeze when I encounter issues that other ppl seem to have no problem with. I recently noticed that the door on my dishwasher was leaking and it totally disabed me for the day. I felt this anxiety because I didn't know what to do. Its like I always need someone to provide advice or help me. I have no trust in my own capabilities.I need to just sit with that feeling and send it love. Then, think through some solutions. You're awesome, Dr. Aziz.
Thank you so much, keep up the good work!
Love the suggestion to exercise self compassion. That is a good piece of advice as we tend to be our worst critics and not give ourselves grace. This was a very helpful video and you are great at this.

Glad it was helpful!
Ive got huge problems with perfectionism thinking i wont be able to get a well paid job after my Masters. (Sounds totally dumb, I know). Love that you mention this! I'm clearly too tough on myself!
Relax and feel the love!
I appreciate this video and the perspective you have given me!
Glad it was helpful!
Brilliant....appreciate it
You bet!
This was a great video! Thanks a lot
You're very welcome!
Wow. This was extremely helpful and beneficial. Thank you Sir.
I'm so glad to hear that!
Great advice. I didn't do this too much. Freaked out at work. Need to let go. Need some passion think it might be a career change feel out of sorts and unhappy. Need to look at this situation another way.
Great video and great advice about being strategic when finding something one's passionate about. I obviously can't quit my job (I am actually kind of eye something in a different dept) and spend all my hours preparing for something else, but I can carve out time to learn things on my own and build my skill set. I think people are afraid of risk (I was, or am) so it's important to know that we don't have to take drastic measures to find something that's more fulfilling.
Great advice
Thank you!
Dang. U r really good. Thanks brother
You're welcome!
Really great video.
Thank you!
Thanks .. this is really good .. my situation
Really the best video I have seen .. thanks a lot
You’re welcome 😊
I'm so glad I found this video. I work in consulting and I've been upset that I'm not getting enough billable time because the owner doesn't trust me. I got written up (on my day off, over the Holidays) for failing at a task that is outside of my job description and they knew was beyond my expertise - I don't think ahead enough, I don't seek help when needed. Then a client gives poor directions that I mis-understand and then when it's not what they expect they complain to me and cc my boss and I just feel like they don't trust me and the self-esteem spiral starts. Doubt creeps into my mind - am I really good enough for this? How do people get to the top of their careers and never make mistakes?
Everyone makes mistakes. One of the best approaches is making sure everyone's expectations are clear before you ever start any task.
I'm lucky that i've found you. Thank you Dr.
Winner of a video, been searching for "need help with confidence" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Have you heard people talk about - Hanhristian Ganuhammad Blueprint - (just google it ) ? Ive heard some incredible things about it and my brother in law got amazing success with it.
This was great, thanks, I've been looking for "books to increase self confidence" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Have you ever come across - Hanhristian Ganuhammad Blueprint - (Have a quick look on google cant remember the place now ) ? Ive heard some decent things about it and my colleague got great results with it.
The brain is a double edged sword.
❤️
I'm about to turn 14. I mainly plan agh was in life. I'm preparing to apply and get a job at chick fil a's. I've heard it's a great job for a young person and a handful of people a couple of grades above said it was great. Since I'm 14, confidence is huge, I have to prove EVEN MORE that I can get this job and not screw up. Great video and do you have any tips for me?
+Twolf Be willing to ask for help and clarification. Ask for help until you learn all the tasks (instead of thinking you should know everything instantly). Most importantly - get in there and test yourself! You got this.
thank you so much! I can't wait!
I came because you looked like Ray Liotta in the thumbnail. I'll go now.
Awesome!
If you want to be confident please be yourself
That is certainly part of it.
Yas im gonna pick your brains i mean binge on your vids
Ready...GO! :)
I know your program was designed for men but as a women I need your advise too! Do you have any programs specifically designed for women?
I need help building confidence in many areas...tired if being a door mate and people pleaser. It's so hard to break.
Hi Freda,
Yes to building your confidence! Currently, I don't have any programs designed specifically for women (that's coming next year).
In the meantime, my book provides guidance for both men and women. I think it can really help you on your path! Check it out here: www.amazon.com/The-Solution-To-Social-Anxiety-ebook/dp/B00F5IU5CU
I am not a man but this applies to me.
Can you put a video about how to give a speech in front of people with confidence and how this reflection can pass to other people to give an impressive impact ?
I have several videos on this on my channel and a quick search will turn them up for you.
Really sweet to find your video..............but I have a problem..I'm a teacher and all my colleagues are younger than me and I'm like being bullied by some of them for all the time.Need help.
monalisa haque Ugh, bullying sucks. I will record a video about how to deal with it!
You are a sweet heart
monalisa haque - Bullying is against humanity, you need to fight for it
My biggest problem is, I always have this mindset that someone is always watching me ...
All the time? Just in public?
OMG!! Thank you Sir.
Always, it's even affecting my job seriously, I use 95% of my energy battling myself nw am even worried maybe it could affect my brain
im irrational and crazy
Well...we all have to start somewhere.
