AWESOME video Andrew, and I think that by you taking the time and trouble to put this video together you've possibly solved the problem I'm having with the "persistant WLOD" PS4 board I spoke to you about a little while ago, so, many many thanks mate, and keep up the good work! (",)
I now have the exact same issue with a SP4 here, bad resistor and I think the encoder IC is also dead. This is my first one with this issue. And as always, great video!
Is there any chance that just the HDMI port is bad if I don't see any bent pins inside the connector, and all the pins soldered to the motherboard look good?

Great video very helpful. I am reading OL on my pin 13 resistor as well. I really wished I knew the value of it though because I don't have a ps4 parts board. I have some old ps3 parts I hope I can find one on?
Could a bad encoder IC cause that resistor to be OL in diode mode? I've got a PS4 here with these exact symptoms. Resistor reads OL, and I tried replacing it with a donor but still reading OL. I already replaced the encoder IC, but I suspect it may be a defective chip since the resistor is still OL. Either way I'm going to try replacing the IC again, but I just wanted to get an idea if I'm on the right track with that resistor. If a bad ic could pull it down (or up? You know what I mean), that would be useful to know for future diagnostics.

Hi. 650 ohm resistor is the one that would have to be? or what is the real value of sony. I have the same error on my PS4 and also ordered the HDMI driver. Greetings.
Hey... love your vids. ..Im having an issue with that resistor @ 10:45 in your video. I get a reading of 1.033 even when i put the Positive probe on the left of the resistor and vise-versa. What could be the issue? Help Please
Hi Andrew I was wondering if u could please give me some advice? I have a ps4 with the white light. Just below the hdmi port on the left side there are two resistors. The closer one to the hdmi port has blown off and a previous repairer has bridge them. Firstly would that work? Secondly if not do you know the value of it many thanks lee.
You seem like something that might be able to understand my issue. I recently bought a secondhand PS4, it was said to be working perfectly so I assume it was working that way until I received it. My first boot of the console I was greeted with a constant pulsing blue light, I assumed it was a HDMI cable fault or even my monitor I was using, I swapped with others. After a few reboots I did get the console to work on my monitor so I ruled out that as the issue. So while it was working, I played with a few things and opened a game. Then back came the pulsing blue light. After a few more tries again, I finally got the console to boot normally. I changed a few settings, accounts and so on, then tried to enter the Playstation Store, then back came the Blue Pulsing. After that, it wouldn't start up at all. I have tried many different methods none seem to work or offer any solution. So if you have an answer it would be great appreciated
Pull the hard drive and see if it starts to the 'cannot start PS4' message consistently. If it does, replace the disk. If not then it sounds like APU issues. Possibly one of the rare occasions where a reball will most likely fix the constant pulsing blue light. Cheers.
Hi Andrew i have changed the hdmi ic and the resistor butt still no 1.070 v what you are measuring is there anything else that i have to check can you give some advice the port is new all the pins are good still having wlod

Hello thanks for all your great videos I have an issue after replacing the hdmi port and encoder i get OL on my multimeter with probes in both directions even after removing the encoder again I tried replacing the resistor I pulled from a donor board that had a 1v reading and when I replaced it behind the diode I got OL reading with the replacement resistor and suggestions why I still get that reading any advice would be greatly appreciated
The continuity test that produces an audible tone requires the resistance to be lower than a certain value, about 20 ohms and that resistor after / before the diode has 26,7k ohms, so that's your multimeter does a problem. Read the instructions for the continuity meter and do not expect it to beep when you are measuring a resistance that is higher than the range it is supposed to beep for. hey andrew. thx for the video. i have a ps4 saa-001 here with static snow/no picture and sound at all. i changed the port 3 times now with a new hdmi ports. but still have the same problem. i have done over 20 hdmi replacments and its now a "10 minute job" for me. everything is soldered perfectly. do i have just bad luck and all of the 3 new hdmi ports where fulty in a row, or could something else be faulty. normaly when an hdmiport is faulty i get flickering and static slow, but no permanent static snow.
Hi Andrew, I am not sure if you remember me. I had a ps4 with no video output and I had changed the hdmi port and the encoder on it. But the problem the problem was not solved. Today after months I was able to fix it. Somehow three of the diodes were shorted and conducting in both directions. I changed all of them with a donor board and now it works :).
Hey your vids are very helpful thanks. Just wondering if you know what diodes the 3 little ones to left of of the larger pin13 one on the hdmi socket side. Looks like the furtherest away 2 from hdmi socket are open and first one leaky? Reads as diode both ways???
Thank you so much your a life saver. Also think i got an open coil near the hdmi one of the 4 any idea what value they are or should i just link it through. Had lots of shorts on smd caps on bottom side of board under hdmi chip removed hdmi ic they went away. So got hdmi ic on order too. The previous owner butchered the blu ray drive whole top mech missing. Luckily still got bluray drive board. Any idea which blu ray mech / drive supposed to be in cuh-1102a with bdp-025 blu ray drive board with sab-001 main board. Do the ps4s still boot up without a blu ray connected? Thanks sorry for all the questions
Hi, mine is an Amscope SM-4TPZFRL. This video was shot with the bundled 3MP USB camera but I have since upgraded to a HDMI camera as an aftermarket upgrade which can be seen in the later videos - the capture device it's plugged into and UA-cam encoding doesn't do the image quality justice sadly.
I hate to ask this, but would you happen to know the value of the Zener diode on pin 15 on the HDMI port? I've done some googling and it seems that you can either use one diode from the PS3 or a different one that is also mentioned in the same post. My issue is that they have widely different Zener Voltage values. So any help would be appreciated and I apologize for asking this on your video that covers pin 13. (And very nicely I might add. ;) ) Thank you.
I can't seem to get the ground pin holes clear on the board in order to install the new HDMI port, I'm using amtech flux & MG chemicals super wick with my iron at 850 and the wick gets stuck to the board when trying to wick up the solder in the holes.
great paul thanks for uploading this video paul if u dont mind can u tell me which microscop u r using and if u tell me the name.model no.plz i wanna buy the same.one
Sure thing - it's an Amscope SM-4TPZ-FRL-3M. Excellent piece of equipment and I very highly recommend it! I'm currently upgrading the 3MP camera it ships with for a 1080p HDMI model so image quality and frame rate should be dramatically improved in a few weeks time hopefully!
Hi My nephews PS4 HDMI port was ‘fixed’ by a cowboy from Nottingham. When it was returned it would only turn on via the controller, still no picture and no power beep. Having inspected myself the HDMI looks ok but the piezo speaker is melted and the power switch has been soldered?? There is still no picture and still a solid white light. Can you look at it please?
You are awesome ! I have some questions : we can kill the encoder IC with the hot air ? Where you purchased the component ? Pin 13 resistor ? Thanks for your good job :)
wow Andrew Paul this was a gr8 video like trying to fix thing but I have never try anything like a ps4 I have fix a few xbox ones and xbox 360 but not ps4 yet
@@melodolic9908 not l long after I got the sheild off. Less than 10 minitues. You don't want to use heat on the motherboard too long. just turn your heat gun up too 485 Celcious but not the fan. You don't want to use too much air flow because you'll blow off the components around the Encoder IC. You'll to use fairly low air flow but get the gun close to the Encoder IC to heat the tines. WAIT to touch the Encoder IC untill the tines and pads are shinny THEN JUST barely tap the IC to see if it moves if it doesn't then it needs more time to heat up DON"T TRY TO JUST LIFT IT OFF!! You'll pull the pads if you don't wait until the solder is soft. If you REALLY GENTLY tap it and it moves ONLY THEN can you lift it safely.
Hi, In continuity mode does the resistor show continuity to ground both sides? Does the right-hand pin of the Pin 13 diode show continuity to ground at all? It's unusual for this resistor to go bad so it's likely something else is pulling the value low. If the above is true then remove the Encoder IC and see if the values start to read normally. If they do, replace the IC.
i have a ps4 slim and that resistor near the diode pin 13 gives no value, is it like the ps4 FAT ? i replace the encoder ic but no display ... any help andrew ?
Have you checked the seating of the QFN via a microscope at all? They're super-tricky to seat properly and can look fine by eye until you get them under a scope.
Strange problem for me . I replaced an hdmi port totally broken . The ps4 now it's working but the video output is not working at 1080p , but working on 480p 720p and 1080i . Could this strange problem be due to the encoder? I tried on 2 tv that are accepting 1080p
@@AndrewPaul yes now I'm sure because also one side of a filter was blown . My customer said that he will play at 1080i ... So no problem . After bypassing the filter I get signal at 1080p but it's all fog and full color screens (red green and don't remember) so it should be the encoder . Also the board developed a strange problem that I couldn't isolate , and It's not surely due to my work . New hdmi port perfectly soldered , no OL , no shorts to ground only works half disassembled in ps4 . If I reassembled the board I have to flex it to make it work due to a false contact that I couldn't find . I solved this by flexing the board with a plastic spacer . Customer accepted to play @1080i and not remove hdmi anymore , elsewhere an aftermarket ps4 would be cheaper than fixing everything
Cheers! Great video done well.. I recently picked up a PS4 with "no signal" I've tried all the typical problem solving different TV different cable etc. all to no avail. Right away would it be best to test for continuity on the HDMI port? I'm an engineering student so I've got some skills with trouble shooting, soldering and multi-meter use. I'd like to see it I can do the repair myself. Any guidance would be appreciated Greetings from the USA Jimmy
Sadly no schematics are available anywhere aside from in Sony's hardware engineers' vaults. Nobody has yet leaked them but oh do I wish they would! Currently all we can do is utilize boards with known working circuits and compare component values from these boards against the faulty ones in an attempt to locate the problem.
could you have replaced the resistor with one of a different physical size but of equivalent value ? if you didn't have a donor board for example.. and would you just do a resistance test on similar resistors on the board to get the resistance value required?
Yes you could indeed do that - remember that for best practice you should remove the resistor from circuit to measure it unless the value is definitively known from a schematic diagram etc.
hello I have WLOD and I replaced my HDMI port but still nothing. So I pulled it back down to check everything out and a video filter fell off. What should I do? Do you work on them for people?
Usually the diode shorts to ground and is generally caused by a bad Encoder IC. I've not seen the diode itself actually fail as yet. In circuit the resistor measures approx. 26kohms on good boards.
Hi what cost would repair be. Ive just turned mine on today , had fuzzy screen . Then it went blank with white light. The hd port looks fine but you never know. I was goin to replace the port myself so opened it and port looked fine. So put back together. Hope you can help Thank you
good job +Andrew Paul, do known what's was the resistor value ? I have kind of same issue, resistor open and Blue LOD, I will change the encoder IC (ordered already)
Just a quick question, but do you know anywhere you could get a CUH-1003 motherboard solo from,as i just want to replace mine with another because i suspect its dead. Inbox me if yes.
You can't just do that I'm afraid. You'll also need it's matching BD-ROM logic board. You'll lose anything on your hard disk drive too if you end up swapping the motherboard.
Ok cheers, it's just so frustrating when i've tried everything and still no picture ,i bought a HDMI port and replaced it so i guess that chip behind it has blown. Are you based around Liverpool by any chance?
If i dropped off mine to you could you sort it for us. Having trouble but the so called repairs over here hav'nt really got a clue, unlike you as you know exactly what you're doing?
hello andrew i would like some help on my xbox one had a soda spilt on top ive disassembled from your videos just need help figuring out what to do to get it turned back on will not turn on
Well first off you'll need to ascertain what you have and what you don't so head to my Xbox one light of death video and find the standby voltages diagram in the description. Test all the points and see which voltages you have and which you don't with a multimeter and go from there. If it went near any BGA then these will need lifting.
just replaced hdmi ic and hdmi port and the resistor ... still white light... i can hear the menu sound . and the resolution always blinking on my tv 480p.. any idea whats the problem?
heres my update today... ive got my display 1080p rgb full range sound no issue i can play.. but but the white light still on lol it still resonating white no blue light after booting
hey man, i am struggling with one ps4 WLOD changed the broken port and the HDMI IC chip but still no display. there is some short on 2 big caps and this short on 2 big caps is there no matter ic chip is there or not. i can't really figure out the issue, so i need your email id to send you photos to get some help.
Have you removed the two affected caps to see if the short disappears? If it does replace these caps with ones from a donor. If not, put them back and follow the circuit backwards until you find which component is at fault.
do u have a video on how to fix a console where the blue light just pulses and it wont go into safe mode it just turns off if u hold the power button down. everything i see for it says hdmi and hd but both of those r fine ive changed or checked both and they are fine. even changed power supply to no avail any ideas?
As in powers up for a few seconds and powers off? Can you restart the machine via the power button again afterwards or do you have to pull power first? If it will repeat the action then APU most likely. If not, PSU.
Yes the PS4 will boot up but when try to put it in safe mode it just shuts off. I can turn it back on using the power button but no safe mode. Removing the hdd won't boot into safe mode either, I just get a solid white light. I was able to use the system via remote play but I did a factory reset in a attempt to fix it so I can't do remote play anymore because I lost all my previous settings.. But when I looked in the video settings all the resolution options said not supported so Idk what the issue is I tried different cords tvs etc. idk what to do.
You are truly awesome!!, I´ve got a WLOD issue pretty odd, I turn on my PS4 and at the beginning everything is ok, the ps4 LOGO appears on screen, I can play a game for a while, but suddenly (about 5min) the video signal disappear and I can´t see anything on screen anymore, it´s like something is overheating inside my console, I really don´t know what is going on. Can you help me to find a solution for this issue. Thanks in advance.
I forgot something (Sorry), the screen of my tv is black but the console works fine, if I put my psvita via remote play I can still play games with my ps4. The only thing is that the video signal disappear but the console works properly. What can cause this Video issue?
Sir im having wlod on my ps4 for over a month and i have deassembled and checked its hdmi port and pins and everything looks fine but can't figure out what can be the problem causing persistent wlod on my ps4?? Can you reply sir?? Even i have replaced my TV and hdmi cables but still....
You should make a video about how to fix the XBOX360, I have one XBOX360 that plays games, but after like five minutes it stops completely, a few minutes before it will show blurry the screen, and then just suddenly keeps on doing that, I don't know what it is. Do I send this XBOX360 to you as donations?
great vid but atess show them where to use heat resistance tape you know there many people who look at youtube for advice and many are first timer not to look down on them no heat resister they might dmg other components
Hi, Andrew. Nice videos! Very didatic and helpful. Just one doubt: do you know what is the size and/or encapsulation code of this resistor at Pin13? I've heard it's a 26k ohms resistor, but I don't know what is the right encap code (0603, 0805?). Thank you anyway and keep going!
I don't check Twitter all that often to be honest - any idea when it would have been sent over? If the pin is ground (and is supposed to be) then you can leave it off safely.
OKI I've recently replaced my PS4's HDMI port. All the pins are lined up and connected to the pads on the motherboard. I've tested all the resistors and ECT. for continuity and they all check out. The problem is that while I was cleaning it the, I've heard you call them in other videos, video output filters broke off. Two of those four little capitors under the Encoder IC chip are junk and the other two probably are far behind them. So what do I type into the internet search engine to order more? PS4 video output filters? PS4 HDMI Encoder video output filters? Both of these searches have failed. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My PS4 has just died with white light of death and no picture on screen. There’s no body that repairs them anywhere near me. Are you a business that does these repairs?
If you're UK based then yes absolutely. I manage my mail-in repairs via eBay - the links to my services are as below: www.ebay.co.uk/usr/lufcfan2004 Many thanks.

I now have the exact same issue with a SP4 here, bad resistor and I think the encoder IC is also dead. This is my first one with this issue. And as always, great video!
EXCELLENT JOB! bud your not only a smart guy but also a patient one.

I appreciate how thorough you are in your videos. too bad you didn't live close to me in Texas and I could have you just fix mine lol😊
Cheers mate.

Nice video Paul, just one question . What is the value of the resistance you replaced ? I'M going to look for it on my Xbox 360 spare parts
seems to be a 26k ohms resistor
Why didn't you measure the value of the replacement resistor? Not everyone has a junked PS4 motherboard that they can pinch components from.

Hi dear, can you give me the refereces of the diodes you have changed? I find them nowhere
think you for your help
Great vid dude! Thanks for posting. Keep up the good work!
Hey your vids are very helpful thanks. Just wondering if you know what diodes the 3 little ones to left of of the larger pin13 one on the hdmi socket side. Looks like the furtherest away 2 from hdmi socket are open and first one leaky? Reads as diode both ways???
Indeed - use these for replacements:
ROHM Zener Diode, 5.6V 100 mW SMT 2-Pin SOD-723
Would it be acceptable to bypass a bad resistor with solder blob between the 2 pads?
hi dear, I need your help, please I would like the reference of the diodes and resistor for the hdmi, to be able to buy, thank you
Hi Andrew what brand and type of microscope do you recommend? any help will be greatly appreciated.
(And very nicely I might add. ;) )
Thank you.
I'm not sure from the top of my head but I will check if I remember next time I'm near a board.
Can't ask for more than that. Thank you.
Hi
My nephews PS4 HDMI port was ‘fixed’ by a cowboy from Nottingham. When it was returned it would only turn on via the controller, still no picture and no power beep.
Having inspected myself the HDMI looks ok but the piezo speaker is melted and the power switch has been soldered?? There is still no picture and still a solid white light. Can you look at it please?
Hi, if you drop me an email to ytandrewpaul@outlook.com I'll send you the info over to mail it in for inspection. Cheers.
You are awesome ! I have some questions :
we can kill the encoder IC with the hot air ?
Where you purchased the component ? Pin 13 resistor ?
Thanks for your good job :)
Hi, yes it's possible to kill it with hot air if you're too rough with it. The resistor came from a donor motherboard - no purchase necessary.
Ok thank you.
and if we have no other motherboard, you know where to buy its component..?
Mouser, RS, Farnell, Element14 etc etc will all have them. Easier to lift them from a donor though.
Andrew Paul
Can you suggest a good soldering iron for a beginner? I'd like to start tinkering with some old XB1 boards and stuff I've got.
Start off with the right tools mate and the rest will follow. I use a Jovy iSolder 40 with a range of Hakko T14 tips and highly recommend it.
Andrew Paul I have all the tools I need. I'm just cautious of soldering irons as I don't want to buy a dud and it end up exploding in my face lol
What's the resistor value? I think I have the same problem.
wow Andrew Paul this was a gr8 video like trying to fix thing but I have never try anything like a ps4 I have fix a few xbox ones and xbox 360 but not ps4 yet
Cheers mate.
I did it!!! I replaced an encoder IC!!!!!!!!!
How long did it take?
@@ryanlawrence8979 so you just heat up the solder on the encoder and push it down ?
@Andrew Paul please can you tell me what is the value of the resistor?
It's 27kohms IIRC
@@AndrewPaul thanks!
Hi, I also have a bed resistor on Pin 13. My multimeter show value 0, what kind of resistor is it or what value I have to buy?
Hi,
In continuity mode does the resistor show continuity to ground both sides? Does the right-hand pin of the Pin 13 diode show continuity to ground at all? It's unusual for this resistor to go bad so it's likely something else is pulling the value low. If the above is true then remove the Encoder IC and see if the values start to read normally. If they do, replace the IC.
Hello,
at 3:15 , what product are you using to remove the green protection on copper please?
That would be a fibreglass pencil
Andrew Paul ok thank you so much
i have a ps4 slim and that resistor near the diode pin 13 gives no value, is it like the ps4 FAT ? i replace the encoder ic but no display ... any help andrew ?
Have you checked the seating of the QFN via a microscope at all? They're super-tricky to seat properly and can look fine by eye until you get them under a scope.
@@AndrewPaul yess i will check that but what is the value of that resistor ? it's like a ps4 Fat 1.055 ?
@@bifoutdjamel same problem. Did u find the solution
Strange problem for me . I replaced an hdmi port totally broken . The ps4 now it's working but the video output is not working at 1080p , but working on 480p 720p and 1080i . Could this strange problem be due to the encoder? I tried on 2 tv that are accepting 1080p
Definitely encoder :)
Sos muy bueno te hago una consulta la.mia tiene la luz blanca y no da imagen que podrá ser es una Slim gracias desde argentina
Any guidance would be appreciated
Greetings from the USA
Jimmy
Definitely the way to go first of all if the port has no signs of visual damage. If it checks out fine it's likely to be a failed Encoder IC.
great work again! where are you finding the appropriate values for resistance? I've searched for a schematic
You certainly have patience.
I just like sticking it to Sony - we don't need your schematics lol! :-)
N.B. **though we would like them** ;-)
could you have replaced the resistor with one of a different physical size but of equivalent value ? if you didn't have a donor board for example.. and would you just do a resistance test on similar resistors on the board to get the resistance value required?
Yes you could indeed do that - remember that for best practice you should remove the resistor from circuit to measure it unless the value is definitively known from a schematic diagram etc.
+Andrew Paul no chance getting schematics off Sony though lol. thanks for replying. and thank you for your videos..very informative and usefull
hi Bro my ps4 no beep no power i replace power supple still no power i think my board need repair do u have any idea whats problem ...?
i have a ps4 slim the caps all around apu are shorted and some other resistors on the board are gone all i get is a beep 1sec blue light and off.
Hello Brother, can you do ps4 pro white light of death. I changed the encoder ic and hdmi, it displays nothing.
hello
I have WLOD and I replaced my HDMI port but still nothing. So I pulled it back down to check everything out and a video filter fell off. What should I do? Do you work on them for people?
If you've got the filter then you can try and reattach it. I do work on them but it depends where you're based.
Great Video Paul. keep them coming
Cheers mate! :-)
+Andrew Paul May i send my ps4 to you HDMI port i'll pay $160
HDMI port and Encoder IC how much did that cost him?
wich is the resistor value?
what does ol really mean, open line, over limit, open loop i dont know
OL = Open Line
@@AndrewPaul made a searxh ifixit says open loop, sorin says over limit so it depends on the person 😅
how can i test the diode and the resistor
under the hdmi port if its good?
Usually the diode shorts to ground and is generally caused by a bad Encoder IC. I've not seen the diode itself actually fail as yet.
In circuit the resistor measures approx. 26kohms on good boards.
Hi you could say what is the value of the diode resistor to my mark 25kohm is good or damaged
Was the value of resistor correct ??. 25K.
alfredo robert I am reading 25k ohm on mine too. but I am reading OL on diode test. I wished I knew the value in ohms.
What is the value of resistor?
Can someone fix it? I am reading 27K ohm also I replaced it but Im getting OL on diode test.
I have a similar issue
When using the multi meter what do you test for and what are the results to be expected ?
That is shown towards the end of the video - test is in diode mode.
Hi what cost would repair be.
Ive just turned mine on today , had fuzzy screen . Then it went blank with white light.
The hd port looks fine but you never know.
I was goin to replace the port myself so opened it and port looked fine. So put back together. Hope you can help
Thank you
Hi Gavin,
Just sent you an email back bud, many thanks.
good job +Andrew Paul, do known what's was the resistor value ? I have kind of same issue, resistor open and Blue LOD, I will change the encoder IC (ordered already)
I did measure it a good while back but cannot find the post. If I think on next time I'm with a board I'll check it out.
I manage to found it on a working one and it's a 26K resistor
Just a quick question, but do you know anywhere you could get a CUH-1003 motherboard solo from,as i just want to replace mine with another because i suspect its dead. Inbox me if yes.
You can't just do that I'm afraid. You'll also need it's matching BD-ROM logic board. You'll lose anything on your hard disk drive too if you end up swapping the motherboard.
Ok cheers, it's just so frustrating when i've tried everything and still no picture ,i bought a HDMI port and replaced it so i guess that chip behind it has blown. Are you based around Liverpool by any chance?
Bradford.
If i dropped off mine to you could you sort it for us. Having trouble but the so called repairs over here hav'nt really got a clue, unlike you as you know exactly what you're doing?
Yes that shouldn't be a problem. Do you have a contact method I can send you some details over on?
Do you know what ohms that resistor is?
where can i find those replacements?
How much does this cost? I have the exact same problem
hi, i have a ps4, and in the pin 13 I have short to ground, already remove diode and still continue on the socket side, any suggestions?

thank so much!! :)
hello andrew i would like some help on my xbox one had a soda spilt on top ive disassembled from your videos just need help figuring out what to do to get it turned back on will not turn on
Well first off you'll need to ascertain what you have and what you don't so head to my Xbox one light of death video and find the standby voltages diagram in the description. Test all the points and see which voltages you have and which you don't with a multimeter and go from there. If it went near any BGA then these will need lifting.
Also any places which have corrosion / obvious spill damage will need rework.
just replaced hdmi ic and hdmi port and the resistor ... still white light... i can hear the menu sound . and the resolution always blinking on my tv 480p..
any idea whats the problem?
Sounds like you may have a loose pin somewhere. Give each pin on port and IC the nudge test with a tweezer blade.
ah oh heres my new update the unit shows some display on recovery mode then it just blink then black screen white light then blinking 480p
and i tested all the caps and diode over the hdmi. no shorted at all.
heres my update today... ive got my display 1080p rgb full range sound no issue i can play.. but but the white light still on lol it still resonating white no blue light after booting
thanks the console is ok now..
hey man, i am struggling with one ps4 WLOD changed the broken port and the HDMI IC chip but still no display. there is some short on 2 big caps and this short on 2 big caps is there no matter ic chip is there or not. i can't really figure out the issue, so i need your email id to send you photos to get some help.
It's not a happy answer - don't waste your time on it but see here:
ua-cam.com/video/0T2-iCBhkuQ/v-deo.html
So what do you think the problem is if the PS4 won't boot into safe mode. It just turns off
As in powers up for a few seconds and powers off?
Sounds like either a damaged HDMI port or bad Encoder IC.
do you have resistor value?
You are truly awesome!!, I´ve got a WLOD issue pretty odd, I turn on my PS4 and at the beginning everything is ok, the ps4 LOGO appears on screen, I can play a game for a while, but suddenly (about 5min) the video signal disappear and I can´t see anything on screen anymore, it´s like something is overheating inside my console, I really don´t know what is going on. Can you help me to find a solution for this issue. Thanks in advance.
Those I've seen with this issue have been on-set of APU problems.
I forgot something (Sorry), the screen of my tv is black but the console works fine, if I put my psvita via remote play I can still play games with my ps4. The only thing is that the video signal disappear but the console works properly. What can cause this Video issue?
+heckran1 In that instance of say you've got a bad HDMI Encoder IC or an issue on the circuit which controls it.
8:49 what if my multimeter did beep?
Sir im having wlod on my ps4 for over a month and i have deassembled and checked its hdmi port and pins and everything looks fine but can't figure out what can be the problem causing persistent wlod on my ps4?? Can you reply sir??
Even i have replaced my TV and hdmi cables but still....
It's likely to be a failed HDMI Encoder IC.
Oh,can it be fixed or replaced???
Yes it can - if you're a competent solderer then it can be done easily with hot air.
Andrew Paul thanx but how would i know that indeed it is the fault lies in IC encoder???
99% of the time if the port checks out fine, it's the Encoder at fault.
do u have any solution for ps4 1 tb pulsing blod ?
Good luck!

Thank you :-)
I have a working PS4, except that the power and eject buttons are broken.
Nice repair mate big thumbs up
Every console is made horribly, does PS4PRO have the same issue?
It most probably will eventually.
You should make a video about how to fix the XBOX360, I have one XBOX360 that plays games, but after like five minutes it stops completely, a few minutes before it will show blurry the screen, and then just suddenly keeps on doing that, I don't know what it is.
Do I send this XBOX360 to you as donations?
great vid but atess show them where to use heat resistance tape you know there many people who look at youtube for advice and many are first timer not to look down on them no heat resister they might dmg other components
who is we?
Should have been I.
Defo smaller than 0805, I'd try 0603.
Andrew Paul Thanks, buddy!
Hi there, are there any alternate traces for the encoder IC?
Which pins are you missing?
@@AndrewPaul I sent you a Twitter message with a photo of the missing pads.
@@AndrewPaulthe missing pad is grounded, that doesn't look right
@@AndrewPaul the pad I'm missing is grounded, so it should be fine to use a jumper wire to connect to another grounded point right?
I don't check Twitter all that often to be honest - any idea when it would have been sent over? If the pin is ground (and is supposed to be) then you can leave it off safely.
Just Awesome ..keep up good work
OKI I've recently replaced my PS4's HDMI port.
I think someone once said they used these:
