    Hi JaDel, I just have to say your video editing skills are very cool and ands interest. I started out using the toothpicks then my husband made me a similar set up with nails and wood but the nails would get resin build up so the tooth picks had the advantage as you can easily replace them. Now I use a silicone pointed mat. I also cover mine to keep my lovely dogs hair out. A heat gun helps remove drips on the back if you get them.

    You make everything look so easy. I like the way you correct your dot painting boo boos with a fine paint brush and black ( background) colour paint. Be careful blowing into resin. No matter what resin you use that are nontoxic. I always wear nitrile gloves respirator and ventless goggles. Spraying alcohol takes out bubbles and heat guns and it's way safer than straws. Be careful in worried you are not using proper precautions and teaching others without all proper safety.

      I was using varnish and did one side at a time on rocks. Had to wait at least a day or more, depending on weather to flip over and do other side.This method beats anything I’ve seen, including silicone spike mats! Blessings so early in the morning and Blessed Thanksgiving to you and yours. I am thankful for your great, funny, humble, very instructive, videos! P.s. I managed to save the molds and the resin, I used the part I scraped out, used equal amount of hardener to pour into a pinecone in a bottle which my husband turned into an egg and cleaned up the molds in an alcohol bath.

    • @JaDeLRocks
      @JaDeLRocks  Рік тому

      @@terischrader1243 I don’t have an issue with it but I don’t put them in direct prolonged sunlight either. The only problem I have with yellowing is certain white paints…. Mostly the cheaper brands that I love and the posca pens. Here’s an honest answer…. I’m not sure! Because I’ve noticed yellowing on white paints… but is it the resin, the paint, or both? Maybe the resin yellows but I don’t notice over darker colors. I did a one year outdoor test and I refuse to recommend any brand of any coating for direct sunlight. Indoors and even in shade spots outside I’ve seen no problems with this resin. It won’t last forever but I’m on year 2 in the shade and year 2 indoors. That’s as long as I’ve used it. So far so good. 1 year direct sun was a total bummer but it’s super hot and humid here in Arkansas too. But the few in the shade still look good.

    Iin your opinion: is resin better for kindness rocks that will go in the garden to prevent fading? • @JaDeLRocks
      @JaDeLRocks  Рік тому

      I would test it on something first. I have done this and it’s 99% of the time worked just fine. But I will admit that once I tried putting resin over a varnish and it didn’t want to cover. It was like water and oil or something. So.. my safe answer is : yes you can but try it on a less important rock just in case.

    Do you seal the works before adding the resin?

    • @JaDeLRocks
      @JaDeLRocks  3 роки тому +2

      I do not. I use acrylic paint on my rocks. Mostly FolkArt and Apple Barrel because that's what's easily available to me. These are the cheaper brands of paints too. I sign the back with a white Posca paint pen usually too. I've had no issues with damage. I do make sure the art is completely dry. If you have super thick paint or dots I would wait several days. My work is usually pretty light and thin so I don't have to wait long before applying resin. The best advice I can give is to do "test rocks." Grab a couple of broken rocks and dab some of your paints on them to represent your typical works of art... then when you feel it's dry give it a go. If it smears or smudges... wait longer and try again. Good luck :)

    • @JaDeLRocks

    • @JaDeLRocks
      @JaDeLRocks  2 роки тому +1

      You can sand it down and re-resin I believe. Next time use less… even if you use my toothpick idea. It’s actually possible to do them without a puddle. It’s taken me loads of practice but I can do it now without any repair to the bottoms. Not every time but far more often than before. I still use the toothpicks because repairs are far easier in my opinion. For now, just sand down your puddles, repair any paint that might have gotten sanded off, and resin again.
