great video. Only a suggestion..The WORST thing you can do is start a new turbo with no oil in the CHRA. that turbo spins between 80-150K rpm...distastrous if dry. When replacing any turbo you should place a little oil in the top side in the CHRA...that lubricants the journals. Then before tightening down the banjo oil fitting to the turbo, prime the oil pressure by disconnecting your fuel pump relay and ignition wire by placing the banjo oil feed tip into a clear container so you can see the oil come out. Then replace fuel relay and ignition wire and crank.
Great comment/suggestion! Thank you for sharing!!
Man do I ever appreciate this dude! Buddy u rock my man ! There's not enough videos on the 2.8 engines so keep them coming I can speak for everyone out here WE WILL WATCH THEM AND LEARN ! THANK U
Loving your detailed videos and when I upgrade my 07 for more horsepower one of the things I'm changing out is my turbo.
As others stated, thx for the extra efforts on the thorough walkthrough of the removal, including many of the nuisances of doing it. Such a great platform, love this engine.
Great job Gary, not a lot of room under that hood
Thanks Phillip!
It's so nice to see these videos, I have a 06 Vectra with the same 2.8 turbo and the engine compartment only has minor differences so I can definately take away from this :D
OK, you have done it now. You are really hooking this baby up. I am going to follow suit now. About done with my motor rebuilt.
Great video! I just pulled the turbo from my 07 Aero, but I did it by the book - WIS. Your method is easier. I broke all three solenoid bolts. They were easy to remove. I just built them up with MIG weld, and used water pump pliers to turn them out.
I’m not upgrading, just sending it off for rebuild.
For reference, mine is Saab part number 55557012, which is a Mitsubishi 49389-01700.
Thanks for the comments Mike and the info! I appreciate it!
Trionic tuning, Mackan is a very helpful and knowledgeable.
I’d recommend Gabriel Acosta with Pedro’s Performance, he remote tuned my 2.8 a couple weeks ago with a 20T setup. Night and day difference with the car
how does that work?
Great video! You were awesome to work with! Hope to do business again thank you!
Thanks Brennyn!! I'm loving the turbo and look forward to working with you again!
Nice video... From the Netherlands.
My goodness everything is squashed in to such a small space so that there's next to no room to work.i have a s/h t14 turbo for my 2 litre with upgraded injectors. I hope it won't be as difficult as this. Thank you.

Hi friend. I have Saab 9-3 1.8T, 2003. I have some problems if you can help. First one P0033 (turbo charger problem). Second one when I drive, smoke comes from around to turbo(or under the turbo cover)
Nice wheels
Thanks! Andros Spec J wheels.
You should of checked the wastegate flapper and the rod connection arm for play. Cause if that’s loose or not closing all the way then you’ll have major boost and spooling issues. Since you had the turbo out it would have been good time to check it. My 2007 had that issue and it took me a long figure out what the problem was. So how are the gains? Is it real noticeable?
Thank you for sharing! I didn't pay too much attention to the waste gate flapper at the time but I agree it's definitely something to look for while everythings out. Now that the car's tuned it pulls hard and spins the wheels with minimal effort and is a blast to drive!
he did my turbo, I haven't got to install yet but im stoked !!!
Vermont tuning !!!!!
You can get refurbished injectors for less than $200 for the set. I’ll try to find the link to the website or the seller on eBay and post it here
have you done the transmission fluid yet on the laser red or blue project car?
I have not yet but probably should now that you mention it.
@@WeakestofWeeks TITAN ATF 6000 SL or Ford Fluid XT-8-QAW Premium for the V6 Autos
I assume you gonna tune it soon? How much HP and TQ can this drivetrain handle?
I only got stage 0 so far from Vtuner and it's amazing
Same but I need more really want the stage2+ but I wish it offers this turbo
In my opinion the weakest link for these drivetrains is the clutch. Mine is upgraded so at this point I'm not too concerned about it. Not sure on numbers yet but tuner said I should get a solid 350hp conservatively and around 380 if I upgrade injectors. I can certainly push for more but being my daily at this point I'm happy with 350hp.
Hey man what charge pipes /intercooler pipes do u have?
Do88 pipes. I have a detailed install video here: ua-cam.com/video/HSO0L6t6OJQ/v-deo.html
I have a 2008 2.8 turbo automatic transmission. Can my transmission handle that kind of power if I upgrade my turbo for that one?
My cars are manual so I honestly cannot say. If you're looking at a larger turbo then you will also need a tune. Talk with a Saab tuner and they'll be able to tell you the limits based on experience.
Does this turbo work for a 2011 turbo 4 9-3
This specific turbo will not, but check with bcinnovate.com/ and see if they can get you one for the 2.0L
Maybe a little heat on bolts could have helped… good vid
Not a bad idea! Thanks!!
Dude, You put heat anywhere else but the bolts.
Hey I live in Ohio where did you get your parts for your Saab? I Have a 2005 Saab 9-3 2.0t Arc and I wanna keep it but I have the hardest time getting parts. Can you help a lady out? Also where did you get the stuff to customize your car?
If you want new parts ask Google and that should help, used parts I get from a junkyard Google LKQ and Pick A Part and see what's close to you. I hope this helps.
I'm in Ohio too and it's so difficult finding parts for my 08 9-3
I'm in Ohio too, north of Dayton and go there, Fort Wayne and Cincinnati for the junkyards. Brakes I order from A1 auto on line
New OEM parts I typically get from esaabparts.com or go with new aftermarket brands through rockauto.com I'm lucky and time to time get a Saab in the junkyard in Columbus so I get parts there. Facebook Saab groups and forums help to get parts too.

Sure, happy to help. Please email me at weakestofweeks@gmail.com
Cracked the Pistons Yet ?? you will ...as those self destruct easily.. even when Stock. It's a Messed engine.
