Thanks for all the great information. Can you do a pruning video?
thanks... will look into it
Great video! We are in the uk, purchased 3 varieties from Portugal, currently have them in pots, and they are growing, we are going to create a bed to put them in, on a bank in full sun, scared , but may just go for it! Zone 8 I think 🤔 here in Suffolk. I wonder if anyone else has them outside in the UK??? Anyway thank you x Jo
Good luck... has gotten down to 26 degrees here in sacramento and plants did fine. I would cover the plants if it got colder..
Gorgeous blossoms! I am not able to grow any of these in Central Florida. Too wet and too hot and humid. These do not do well indoors either.
Thanks
looking great! did your hakea victoria not survive the sac heat?
The hakea is doing well... I didn't mention it as there are no flowers on it. You can see it in the video in the back. I cut it back as it had overgrown
Have you propagated any proteas from cuttings,
no I haven't - just grown from seeds
Where do you get the plants and seeds?
plants are available from many nurseries in along California coast - also seeds i bought from south africa - silverhillseeds.co.za/
How did you get seeds from your protea
the flowers may produce the seeds depending if they get germinated - most of my plants produced seeds which are easy to remove once hardened
Thanks just got myself a protea neriifolia from a local nursery here in South Africa hopefully one day when it blooms I can collect seeds 😊
