This is going to help SO many plant lovers who are getting into anthurium!! Thank you for all the great info! I'm glad you hit on pot size for these plants because this is something I found out about anthurium much later and really wished that I'd seen someone with experience talking about this sooner because I had just kept hearing that most plants that we were growing indoors liked to be a bit pot bound but that's DEFINITELY not the case with these guys if you want them to size up faster👌❤️
Thanks so much! Some orchids grow well root bound - but if you want big anthuriums - you need big pots - I've seen some roots grow 1/2 inch in 1 day... I'm moving most of my plants to 6 gallon white pots now as they are ready - we'll see how big they get soon...
@@growproteas1148 yeah, my hoyas tend to to better a little root bound too. I've definitely noticed that they flower more like that.. although that could be due to them just being more mature, but 🤷🏻♀️ I can't even *imagine* what you're anthuriums will look like in another 6 months!🤯🤩
How does it feel to be one of Gods favored ones ? Hahahha. This is INSANE . So inspiring. Please update again soon. Thanks for the very very helpful video. You are a rockstar!
OMG!! I’ve just discovered the plant God! I thought Sydney plant guy was a genius but this just blew my mind!!! Wow, is it possible to be so impressed that it brings you to tears! ❤❤❤❤ thank you so much for sharing, please share more, I’m in love 😍
these plants are INCREDIBLE!!!! and i love what you said about pots and sizing up quickly, that's what ive been doing too (and shared in a recent video). I've only ever heard people say to let them be rootbound in small pots. lucky one friend said to size up quickly so i did and it is the best thing imo! thank youuuu for sharing with us!
I have never ever watched a video where every question I asked, was answered until now! Thank you so much!!! That video was absolutely amazing!! Part2. I just wanted to add a few thing that I didn’t yesterday (I was flat out at work but was playing your video in the background and loved your video so much I had to comment). At work I play plant videos pretty much all day, and one thing I notice that always drives me crazy is people never show what conditions there plant’s actually live in. And to clarify, as a viewer we rarely see exactly where a plant lives in a house. People always move the plant to a specific location that they use for filming for good lighting or a nice backdrop. And as much as we all appreciate that. To be honest, as a actual plant grower, I’d rather see it’s living conditions, where is it located compared to a window. Is it in a large drafty room or in a smaller high humidity room. It there other plants close by giving it a micro climate. When I saw your amazing large leaf besties, those were all the questions I started asking, and one by one, you went through them all! And I really do appreciate that!! Also your advice on sizing up every 6 mins. 🤯🤯 absolutely amazing! Almost every other UA-camr out there says to wait 2 years because it’s such a slow growing plant… however, you’ve completely revolutionized that concept!! Can’t wait to keep seeing more planty videos from you guys!!! 😍 also, for seasonal temperature reason, where are you guys located? I’m in Fort McMurray Canada and to be honest, I don’t think I’ll ever get my humidity levels to yours… but I’ll keep trying at least in the summer! 😉 and if you could do a video explaining exactly how you go about picking a grow light, and even setting it up. I’d love to see that!! Thanks! ☺️ all the extra details are greatly appreciated!!! 🙌 🙌 🙌
Yes yes YES!!!!! This makes me feel validated, as I debated keeping my new King in my living room because of its size. It's already mature so I really can't keep it on my balcony (too windy!). It took over a month to acclimate but it's thriving now with similar humidity levels and is in the middle of putting out a new leaf
I am always shocked about how few people use bug poison on their plants. It works wonders and we are not going to eat the plants and they are already poisonous to eat so why not???
Because they will kill pollinators if you put the plants outside. They are toxic to pets and children that sometimes chew on plants. Bonide systemics will make spider mites worse. Beneficial insects are much more effective for pest control and safer.
I agree with you, way too many try the eco friendly route with beneficial bugs etc but when you have an outbreak, particularly thrips, which I detest! You can’t beat a good pesticide. It’s being used indoors, so should not be a threat to outdoor critters and the environment
I don’t use pesticides because I have dogs and I don’t want to breathe that stuff in or deal with the cleanup to get rid of any spray that gets in my shower etc. I check my plants regularly and use neem oil in a mixture as a soil drench. it builds up within the plant and kills off any sap-sucking beasts. Furthermore, all that poison goes down the drain, but where do you think the drain leads? Into the ocean. A lot of pests are developing resistance towards pesticides which is another good reason to use it only when absolutely necessary.
@@ronjakh Systemic pesticides go into the plant. The are not sprayed at all.As long as the dog is not eating the plant then there's no problem. Also dogs are not stupid. As far as going into the ocean, most pesticides break down very quickly and would never make it into the water system. I am VERY against ones that don't break down. It very stupid, a lot like gas or diesel cars are plastics. I studied medicine btw so not totally ignorant here. Other ways work really well. For example against the nats just use Common butterwort or something like it. They will eat ALL the bugs in a matter of weeks. They are also quite good looking plants and are easy to care for. Aphids (indoor) are a real problem. I fixed it the first year with ladybugs but this year I had a bunch of plants all touching and mostly food plants so no poisons but I did use a systemic on ONE plant in the middle and after one months there were no more aphids. I guess they all bite the middle plant eventually and die. spider mites die from diatomaceous earth, easy. The worst is thrips are the worst and I have found nothing that works but to use a poison. I really HATE these bugs! Luckily they don't seem to attack my food plants.
@@ronjakhI forgot one point. Many poisons for bugs DON"T WORK ON MAMILS! We simply don't have the pathways in our cells to be affected by the poison. Only the bugs dies from it. The poisons are fine for people and you don't need to worry about them unless you buy the really bad ones that don't break down. These should really be illegal. ALso the common person can't buy the bad stuff because you must have a licence and training to use it.
A couple of weeks ago I commented, saying I couldn’t wait to move mine to moss because I was not having success. Meant to return to thank you for saving my collection. Two specifically were days from rotting completely. Today one is pushing a new leaf, and on both I managed to save the last large leaf. All of my others, 17 plus anthuriums, have already started pushing new roots. I can see it thru my clear pots. Probably water twice a week. Several pushing new leaves. I’d tried every substrate I could. All the heavier substrates eventually started root rot. Thanks for showing this enlightening video.

Wow, those anthurium are absolutely gorgeous!!! 😍Thanks so much for all the amazing tips. I have my first anthurium on the way to me now and this is so helpful.
You the whole master of anthurium ❤❤❤❤❤❤ I have some babies coming in the mail. This video had me deluded to thinking my leaves will get massive in a couple months 😂😂😂
What kind of climate are you living in? My winters are very cold and dry and many of my plants struggled due to low humidity which can drop to around 20-30%. My velvet philodendrons and anthuriums are fine in summer though. How do your winters go?
Same here, I live in the Swiss mountains PLUS in an old flat with horrible isolation 😂 So while I do appreciate the great tips of this video, temperature and your individual ambient climate is a must to consider I believe - my plants have all steadily died/faded away after we moved here, so I got myself humidifiers and this week, a large grow tent; of course I see the valid point of acclimating plants, but these aroids all do come from the rainforest, so they definitely cannot survive Swiss winters and humidity (20-30%). I think it would have been important to talk about temperatures and seasonap changes in this video as that is quite a limiting factor unfortunately - or well, not necessarily limiting, more like challenging, one just needs some extra helpers 😂
All my anthuriums so far are seedlings or seeds i bought to grow on. I find them pretty easy to grow, both indoors and bush house situations. My first seed-grown crystallinum x clarinervum? have beautiful reddish new leaves, glittery shiny white veins and velvety leaves the size of my hand in 18 months. A few made lovely gifts for friends. Im so excited to see how big the leaves get. 😂 An exercise in patience, but i do enjoy growing from seed, very satisfying. Just got a baby veitchii, very exciting, and some dark leaved crosses. Queen next. 😂❤
Hi thanks for this video!! I was wondering if you know anywhere that soils the growstone gs-2 aroid mix that you used? I can’t seem to find it anywhere online. Or do you know any good available alternatives? Thanks so much!

You've covered everything except temperatures. I bought a Veitchii and have it in my heated cabinet because our temps are between 4c-18c during winter. We don't have central heating here. It will come out in spring. Am I doing the right thing?
Hi - could you please share where you buy the pots from? I have seen pots similar to the black round one at Lowes/hd but no idea where I could get the other ones you have used. Thank you!
@@growproteas1148 Such an informative video! I have two that got damaged by hail this Spring. They are taking long time to recover. I do have a question, and I hope you have not answered it already. What you do with the Inflos? Someone said to cut the first one, some say cut all of them, some pollenate them.
@@growproteas1148 Thank you! A YTuber said to never propagate the first one, but thanks for the tip. I just cut it off this morning. I love this genus of plant and one day I would love to create and prop some berries. I also found that my plant grew like crazy during the Winter, but not Spring and Summer after a hailstorm. I also saw that letting it dry out helped it. She was stunning until that day.
Just stumble your channel. Your Anthuriums are so massive and healthy. I bought a medium size Magnificum and each leaf keeps on yellowing at the tips and eventually died off. Now I know why. But I wish I knew sooner.
@@growproteas1148 My guess would be water. Not enough water. I water when the leaves already wilt. The plant is still alive but in rehab. I'm going to start over by buying a new one following your tips!
@@growproteas1148 for your reply! So just to clarify, one is only Spaghum Moss and the other one is only aroid mix without any Spaghum moss…that correct? Thanks again.!
what beautiful plants, and all your care tips are so true, especially the one that anthuriums like to be wet, I forgot to water mine for a few days and my 45 cm leaf is gone...
Are you sure its really 400-500ppfd ? My plants burned even at 300-350. Its either meter wrong or you measured different units ? Im using fullspectrum arcadia led bars and measured them, numbers from manufacturer are same as my measurement so around 15" above the plant im getting around 400ppfd which easily burned leaves in a few days. Im watering them same as you, good fertilizing so thats why im curious. My meter reads 1800-2000ppfd on direct sun through 3 glass panel window. 1000 on direct sun seems quite low not enough.
maybe our meters are reading differently? 300 ppfd is a pretty low reading in general compared to full sunlight of 2000 - if i take my meter outside in the summer I'll get 2000+ ; the reading in the house of 1000 was with the sun pretty low on the horizon
I'm glad I watched this now I know I am watering correctly and feeding. I don't want my Queen that big, so I guess I'll keep her in a smaller pot to keep her smaller? Thanks so much for sharing!
hello i’m not sure if this was asked before (i scrolled didn’t find it) but the sphagnum moss that you grow in how often do you change it out? when you repot do you remove it completely or do you just add more moss to a bigger pot as you would with other substrates?
Wow I'm so glad I found this video! Gives me the confidence to try growing anthurium again. I noticed you didn't mention temperature. Obviously in the wild these grow in very hot temps, but what is the temp range in your home? Is there any chance of me growing these beauties when my indoor temps drop to 16C/60F overnight for a solid 4 months out of the year?
normal household temps - but in the winter (4 months) I turn the heat off at night and the temp drops to 55-60 at night in my home - during the day 75-78
Love this video!! Love this video! I enjoyed this so much i think i might get a couple plants on payday. BTW you do not need the music. Your plants are so beautiful and your wife is adorable.
This is a very helpful guide. Im used to growing aroids but a novice with antheriums. Solid advice and looking forward to seeing growth on mine. Thanks for sharing!
@@growproteas1148 o okay. I’m going to grow mine like that as well. Bit had a fungal on a plant and wanted to do a preventative to make sure it doesn’t happen to my anthuriums.
Lovet hose plants - congratulations! I must add that you go against the general guidelines for plants that goes that spraying water over leaves does not help, that you need humidity above 50% and that the plants should be tight in the pot as making it bigger promotes water stagnation. In any case - looks like what you're doing works. Ah and I LOVE that live moss on the pot! How did you do that? It looks soooo cute and natural
thanks - yes if you move into bigger pots with good light there is no problem as the plant will quickly grow roots to fill the pot - the moss seems to grow in the winter on the pots
Such a beautiful collection, i just bought a hybrid baby plant of warocqueanum x waterburyanum, that has to come in a few days i hope, it has always been a dream for me to get that hybrid so i'm so curious how it will grow out in a mature size! I also am about to get some hybrid seeds. That are coming from a woman out of France she used the nectar of Anthurium Papillilaminum x Magnificum and used the pollen from Anthurium Zara x Michelle (Doc Block) i believe. Now i wonder how that will look like. 🥰
Beautiful plants. Those queens are stunning. Ive had issues growing them outside in the S fl heat. I can't believe you have so many leaves on your regale! Mine only holds 2 at a time. I like the square pots. Where do you get those? Great video!

@@BordeauxNici thanks for your input...
Absolutely stunning. Great teamwork btw 😊
thanks so much!
Queen next. 😂❤
that is awesome... new update video soon
Hi thanks for this video!! I was wondering if you know anywhere that soils the growstone gs-2 aroid mix that you used? I can’t seem to find it anywhere online. Or do you know any good available alternatives? Thanks so much!
yes i noticed it isn't made any more - i will switch to pumice in the future - here is an example - www.amazon.com/Sukh-Horticultural-Pumice-Stone-Succulent/dp/B0C2XYNGTH/ref=sr_1_5?crid=2SXEF7RK5Z6V2&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.OMnt9RIEfPq5HuKcNM8pd3otl1zdA-5wYJzwc3EhWh79ie0rAkHCRusf2wV3kdSkmje5jsXO-fvODbVKzUrCL9tlN1R4nCsC1CKki5s3MciedmBehicBJHAP1KQM3v5hYLUYkglcvc-zoZlfZGJcZHZqVQxYnYqBqwTo40AMri3BQnWwEMhmZCP7zHwyvtyzZpvzfTYCkRPs-0N69Y52AHkA5xwbqZB56ipF0CRmIgpTulTLZhqzTBEqvy1tGsayqyRWgWGco8v6fctJWTADS8vEXaSvXW_-6fynTsYxu24.0ETctfJVWVNjq8z2mAii7_2FKZYF8LQ5mshoa_7VK4Y&dib_tag=se&keywords=pumice+plants+mix&qid=1723154964&sprefix=pumice+plants+mix%2Caps%2C157&sr=8-5
These are absolutely beautiful!! I’m just now venturing into anthuriums and I’m excited.
good luck! buy them young so they can acclimate..
You've covered everything except temperatures. I bought a Veitchii and have it in my heated cabinet because our temps are between 4c-18c during winter. We don't have central heating here. It will come out in spring. Am I doing the right thing?
these plants don't like temp below 14c so yes keep it warm anyway you can - in my home lows in the winter are about 14c at night...
You just blown my mind !!! Please keep posting. You are gonna be my master! I struggle so much with Anthuriums, clearly I am doing everything wrong .
thanks so much - good luck with your plants!
Hey I’m so excited I just purchased my first baby villeraonm it’s in a 4 inch pot. Should I take it out of the soil and put it in stagnant moss.
I would leave the roots alone and add sphagnum moss around it in a larger pot
Which soil mix for your Queen Anthurium gives you more roots, more leaves and bigger leaves? Moss or Orchid mix?
Really about the same -
How’d you manage to keep MULTIPLE leaves on the Regale?!!
just good watering and light.....
Hi would you recommend a mosspole of support for the queen adult antherium.kind regards
yes - I would!
Hi - could you please share where you buy the pots from? I have seen pots similar to the black round one at Lowes/hd but no idea where I could get the other ones you have used. Thank you!
they are hydrofarm pots - thanks
Would you recommend mixing chunky potting soil with spagmoss?
probably would work - but i would mix 1/2 inch pumice for aeration to spag moss
Wow! You’re anthuriums are next level of greatness 😊
Thank you for sharing. I know what to do on my days off…. up-pot my anthuriums 😅
thanks - I'm not up potting to 5 gallon pots - we"ll see how big the plants get ...
Hello... Nice big plants.. Please share details of the fertilizer tgst u use to get ur plants huge.... Plz share
it's in the video - MSU fertilizer 3x per month - thanks!
Absolutely brilliant advice, thanks so much 💖
thanks ... good luck with your plants
Thanks, Jeanine!
Your growth rate is very impressive for 2 years. I'm curious what your feed is.
msu fertilizer 3 out of 4 weeks - but i believe light, water and growing medium are more important...
How in the world do you have room for all of those huge plants!?
I sold a couple of plants as they have gotten too big!
@@growproteas1148 Such an informative video! I have two that got damaged by hail this Spring. They are taking long time to recover. I do have a question, and I hope you have not answered it already. What you do with the Inflos? Someone said to cut the first one, some say cut all of them, some pollenate them.
@@hennesseyme9112 I cut them off - research shows you get bigger leaves by removing them
@@growproteas1148 Thank you!
Old school... thank you.
Just stumble your channel. Your Anthuriums are so massive and healthy. I bought a medium size Magnificum and each leaf keeps on yellowing at the tips and eventually died off. Now I know why. But I wish I knew sooner.
Thanks! Water? Light?
@@growproteas1148 My guess would be water. Not enough water. I water when the leaves already wilt. The plant is still alive but in rehab. I'm going to start over by buying a new one following your tips!
My magnificum definitely needs a bigger pot.
Summer is a good time repot
So you mention what you used to pot these plants in but you did not mention the recipe you used this would be helpful.
either standard aroid mix or sphagnum with grow stone - thanks!
Your plants are out of this world and as someone who just started to get into anthurium the information here is priceless ❤
good luck with your plants...
Wondering what state your in? Gorgeous anthuriums 😍.
sacramento, california thanks!
Stunning plants! Just about to buy my own queen and will definitely try your tips. What aroid mix brand do you use?
Hi! Thank you so much! Did you plant live moss on top?
yes doing well in sphagnum moss
LOVE your video. your wife is such a good sport
thanks - yes wife is a great sport!!!
Please drop a link to where you get your plastic pots. :D
pots are called - hydrofarm pots
Thank you so much for the info! Can you share a source where someone can buy them online
there are many many sites online that sale anthuriums - here is one -www.nsetropicals.com/
Very informative video. Thanks for posting.
Thanks!
Hi just wondered what your average temperature range is there
?thank you for great video
summer highs in the house 78 - lows 68; winter highs 75 lows 58
@@growproteas1148 thank you 😊
These plants are so big, they scared me 😮
ha ha ... thanks so much!
Gorgeous plants! Did you say that you used the aroid mix WITH the Spaghum moss for the Queen?? OR SPAGHUM, only? Thank you in advance.😊
one queen was in spaghum moss and the other was in an aroid mix - they seem to grow about the same
@@growproteas1148 for your reply! So just to clarify, one is only Spaghum Moss and the other one is only aroid mix without any Spaghum moss…that correct? Thanks again.!
@@plant-a-holic yes..exactly
@@growproteas1148 great thanks so much!!
How do you manage watering while on vacation?
good question - we didn't take any vacations this year - but if I did I would have a friend water
love your video! would you be able to post it without the background music? i have trouble isolating your voice with it playing in the background
thanks so much!
what beautiful plants, and all your care tips are so true, especially the one that anthuriums like to be wet, I forgot to water mine for a few days and my 45 cm leaf is gone...
so gorgeous!!! Waroq and Veetchii both mine died on me sad .. and I'm planning to buy again and follow your advice!
good luck with your new plants...
what is your fertilizing routine?
fertilize 3 out of 4 weeks
Can you tell me where you get your pots from?
they are called hydrofarm pots -
This guy grows.
thanks
Friend, what percentage of moss and substrate are they in? Please 🙏🏻
80% moss - 20% grow stone
@@growproteas1148 thanks 🙏🏻
I'm glad I watched this now I know I am watering correctly and feeding. I don't want my Queen that big, so I guess I'll keep her in a smaller pot to keep her smaller? Thanks so much for sharing!
yes the bigger the pot - the bigger the plant - thanks!
There are some gorgeous plants 🪴 👍🏽
thanks!
amazing! do you usually cut off the inflorescence?
So much fantastic info! And straight to the point, thank you 🙏🏼
thanks... good luck with your plants!
You don't use any support for the stems?
so far I haven't
hello i’m not sure if this was asked before (i scrolled didn’t find it) but the sphagnum moss that you grow in how often do you change it out? when you repot do you remove it completely or do you just add more moss to a bigger pot as you would with other substrates?
When i re-pot i leave the moss alone and add new moss around the plant in the larger container.
@@growproteas1148 ok thanks so much! i always thought it would break down and have to be changed out. glad to know i can leave it. thanks again
i bought it on amazon@@iamcaprib
Your plants are so beautiful and your wife is adorable.
thanks! good luck!
This is a very helpful guide. Im used to growing aroids but a novice with antheriums. Solid advice and looking forward to seeing growth on mine. Thanks for sharing!
good luck!!!
Hi I am curious as to what you use for fungus/disease prevention?
Haven't had any fungal problems - maybe because my humidity isn't high - 40-50%
Thank you for the very good information and for letting us watch with joy your lovely lovely plants 😍
thanks so much!
Where do you get your square pots? They look very nice with your gorgeous plants!
thanks! hydrofarm pots - @@maryperry5910
hello sir! how long after you bought your luxurians did u repot it ?
probably 6 months...
@@growproteas1148 tq good sir..just got my first anthurium last night... hope i can get it as big as yours
thanks.. good luck with your plants.. nice hybrids...
Does any one knows how to get these seeds?
usually you don't buy seeds - you can buy small plants
Beautiful plants. Those queens are stunning. Ive had issues growing them outside in the S fl heat. I can't believe you have so many leaves on your regale! Mine only holds 2 at a time. I like the square pots. Where do you get those? Great video!
