Volt has always been the go to frame for many meta activities, and he is one of the most used and versatile warframes in the entire game, however that wasn't always the case, in fact Volt started off as a very mediocre frame. But over time through updates and patches, Volt rose to fame. Today we take a look into the history of Volt and how he became Warframes most meta character.

Let me know your thoughts on Volt! I'll give the poll an extra day before we decide the next frame. Thank you as always for the continued support ua-cam.com/video/9DNVdpLOsOg/v-deo.html
wasted opportunity to add JLU The Flash vs Braniac Music to resume volt's history.
If volt didn't speed boost his allies, I wouldn't absolutely despise him like I do now
@@ailonrouge backflip deactivates Speed
If you play only PT/Idalon then maybe yes
but he is completely garbage for most endurance content, daily stuff like leveling, focus farming (if you do that in ESO then think again and i know u get them from idalon easier), fissures , most bosses (especially recent archon) , bounties, etc.
@@allyc573 he’s not garbage for the stuff
You’ve mentioned due to his nuke. And every single frame works for archons if you have a kuva hek or a phenmor and eclipse lmao
To be honest as a wisp main I'm always happy to see a volt player because i know that i will run into every single wall on the map

As a volt main we appreciate you guys for adding to our adrenaline speed filled rampage

Not to mention POWER!!! UNLIMITED POWER!!!
My first frame, first prime, first augments. This man started it all for me and I'm so glad he's stayed relevant for so long.
Although I wouldn't say my first frame or prime ever, it is my first frame and my first prime when I decided one day to switch to PC
Hey was my 1st frame and when I started the game he was vaulted so I bought plat just to get his prime
Same here mate, same here
First frame, still trying to get a prime thought
same here unless i count when i was 12 and tried to start the game then got confused and stopped lol
Volt is that guy who was remembered as that scrawny kid in school who then became stacked from the gym.
Funny thing about Volt is, in the opening mission, Volt was introduced as a frame that have alternatives for guns. Mainly, using his 1st skill instead of firing guns. But energy is so scarce in early parts of the game that you almost have no chance to use it. And really to me, back when I first played the game, I thought that was Volt's whole identity. A frame that has alternatives for weapons.
Isn't that his actual description in game!?
Actually, im just now on venus and i can use volts 1st ability quite often, its actually rare for me to run out and not find more energy near by
I don't remember the game introducing him that way though, very strange.
The best part about Volt's second ability is that it's lazily done so it doesn't simply give you movement speed. It works like a speed hack from cheat engine. Speeds up pretty much all of your movements. You run, jump and even fall faster. Some animations even finish faster with it.
Volt actually speeds up the rotation of the planet you play on, hence the day/night cycles being so short due to the density of volt players.
@@qwaykes8840 this finally explains why day/night is faster on the Plains of Eidolon as opposed to the rest of earth: it's because there are so many Volts there.
@@Madcowdiseiz volt mains have destroyed the ecosystem kek
It gives you crazy melee speed too
That’s just how speed works in this game. When I get slowed from cryo it’s like the game turns on slow motion.
Fun fact: Volt was one of the original 3 frames back in Closed Beta. Back then, there were only indoor tilesets with lots of electric systems which his ult interacted with, which in turn meant that punching the Overload button would instantly kill 99% of the enemies on the map. This is because it chained along the ceiling of every single room (via lights) and killed everything it touched, with only extremely lucky enemies in the right location on the right tile would live. Level-clearing was *VERY* fast for a brief period of the beta.
That's crazy

Warframe has always been a game that I would revisit every once in a while, just because of how fun the game is. My only problem was that I could never get into grinding for stuff. Never got too into the online content on the game either. Somehow your videos started appearing on my feed and they've been informative and entertaining. Considering revisiting the game again because of your content.
Do it pussy, you won’t.
So what do you think is most annoying, the craft times or the grind for resources or rare drops? Or is it the lack of enemy difficulty in lower planets once you get decent mods?
There are a few meta ways to speed up progression especially xp farm an credits. Railjack is decent for most resources(but not planetary resources) if you aren't solo player.
@@NeuralSensei honestly I could never get my mind around making builds
I think one of the best things that Warframe has are some story quests like the Second Dream they are really good.
@@NeuralSensei Reputation grind by far. I'm basically in the same situation but god is the reputation farming stupidly annoying. I literally still haven't gotten the subsume system yet because I occasionally pop into the game, farm some open world for rep and then just immediately regret everything after like 5 hours.
you didnt mention fish in the static discharge thing.

Volt was amazing when focuses first came out. I think it’s vazarin, the one that boosts your mele power, and it was able to turn you invisible on a critical mele. Now if you were to slap some knuckles on volt and punch super fast with volt, you were basically invincible.
I think the focus school you're thinking of was naramon
I'm new and I can't stop playing Volt . So basically I started playing with Volt and quickly switched to other Warframes that seemed cooler. Then I started trying to level up my frames for MR and when I started to level Volt, I thought it was super fun to zoom and swing melees ultra fast. I just permanently used Speed and swung my weapon constantly to drive by any enemies along the route to my objective. Then, I hit max rank. Oh well, time to go to a new frame.
Then I realized
I can't live without Speed. Speed had become the default pace for me and everyone else felt horrible. I went back to Volt and discovered that for a mere 25 energy he could just instantly bypass the annoying immune-shield enemy. Now I am getting good at Volt and nothing else can hit that feeling (wondering if Gauss speed can at least match the need for speed but what about the chain stun)
Gauss does have thermal sunder ... not quite the same but its at least A area of effect ability like discharge, but as for sprint speed volt still wins, but later on there are other methods to boost overall parkour velocity
@@NovaUmbral also the lightning effects are super cool and I like how you can change their color. That's not something I can get anywhere else haha
Gauss felt different. He is more of a dash frame than fast frame. Gauss 1 is way too fast for normal map thus u will most probably use it to dash around instead of being fast.
If u like speed u might enjoy titania
Same man. I've been maining speed volt with 300% strength for so long that everyone else feels so slow to use lol
As Mithrix would say: “Speed is war”
True! Wish there was a way to cosplay Mithrix with Volt

What I miss the most from old Volt is his silly interaction with Amprex, making it have infinite range. It was hilarious, and the reason I built Amprex and ended with like 5 Forma in it.
Damn, I really miss it.
Lmao dude same, first frame first prime and patiently waited for MR 8 to use that damn amprex 😂
Waiting for Tenet Amprex to replace my 6 forma Amprex
I absolutely love your videos, later in the night im finishing the Sevagoth one and lets see if this one makes me finally farm Volt Prime now that he is in the Resurgence, great job on the youtube btw!
Glad that your enjoying the uploads! Thank you for the kind words
Volt has been and always will be my favorite Frame. I love electric as an element more than any other so much so that even in his old Overcharge days he was still my main based off of principle. So glad he is in his Prime now more than ever!
Electric speed is a deadly combo, volt is the most loved frame,
6 year long volt main here. I appreciate the comment! Keep the power flowing my friend we have enemies to kill and people to protect.
I am loving these video essays, I've been playing for years, and I've seen the growth and evolution of the game. It's nice to take a trip down memory lane, and you've done your research on em. You're doing an amazing job and I love the music choices.
So stoked wo watch this. Volt was my starter back in the early days and volt prime was the first prime I farmed from scratch. I felt like a true gamer having gotten him from the ground up.
Edit: It cracks me up hearing the excitement in your voice when you talk about his Veil Breaker buffs. A true volt enjoyer.
Volt is, and always will be, my favoritest frame in the game. Speedrunning void capture missions is just so meditative sometimes.
I feel ya! Who knew going so fast was so chill
So how many seconds does void capture takes you?
Because I honestly doubt you can compete with a speed build Titania.
@@renem.5852 and I seriously doubt your anything can match a Gauss speed build
@@draenog96 so what's your average time with gauss?
My titania void captures take about 35s on average.
@@draenog96 Titania is substantially faster then anything guass or volt she’s broken speed wise
The only thing I don't like about volt is dropping my shield any time I try to reload or interact with the environment. Feels janky to always be picking up your shield or avoiding reloads.
Volt will always have a place in my heart. He was my main frame for the whole starchart and its prime was the first i thought on putting the umbra formas in so I could have all my loadouts done.
Remember scarlet spear? I used to carry the hell outta earth teams with volt and a paracesis. Miss that event :').
Also, about his passive, it's not totally garbage. It makes him the best fisher for the plains hahah
Great vid. Volt had versatility by design in mind. It was not a coincidence that DE wrote versatile on the vid description. Also, DE specifically talked about changing volt to be a better first frame choice for new players thus the quality of life improvements (but translated to great buffs for older players).
Volt was the very reason I started Warframe.
For some reason, the design he has just appealed to me so much...
I am so happy to see that our little electric 'gotta go fast' boi is getting all the love and praise that he deserves.
i wanted to farm volt prime a long time ago, 5 years to be exact, but when i recently knew that the relics are there to be obtained from the bazar, i was excited. Now iam waiting for the final blueprint to be done building so i can finally play the warframe!
The fact that the dude didnt get a badass intro yet he dominated Warframe is a crazy comeback from being left out in the intro
crazy that this is a starting frame that anyone can get from the beginning
He's pretty rough as a starter though.

Volt's Passive has one benefit: It's really good if you pick him as your Starter Warframe. I remember when I JUST started out and had shit for damage output, that passive carried me till I started upgrading my mods and getting better starting weapons.
Wow.. youtube recommend with the rare good video!! This was a blast from the past and a great relevant catch up for me, as i just got back into warframe after a few year hiatus. Just built volt prime and i noticed how proficient he was right off the bat vs old days.. thanks for the knowledge and nostalgia! This was a great video!
The fact that Volt, the OG starter, gets a +200% Crit bonus _After Mods_ while a frame like Voruna only gets a "Crit chance is raised to 100% if it isn't already at 100%" says a lot about his power. Just let him be, and work on some of the other frames.
that's different though, one ability doubles crit damage, one forces critical chance.
Voruna gets a hell of a lot more than that, though. Her first ability is insane for critical output even if your crit is already above 100, not to mention the status bonuses. Volt is still king for star chart and eidolons, though
The best part about a lot of the older frames that DE has touched in a while is that, for better or for worse, they aren’t balanced for modern Warframe
Fun fact : Volt was meta in 2015-ish, back when the "endgame" was t4 survival for hours. He was part of the new meta comp : Mag pull with the augment for loot pull, Nekros spamming his 3 every couple of seconds for hours for loot (you had to manually cast it to desecrate 2 or 3 corpses, it wasn't a "channeled" thing like it's now), Excalibur using his exalted blade while crouching for its huge dps, and Volt using shields to protect the team and buff Excal's damage.
Basically the 4 of us sat in a tube, Volt shielded the entrance and afk'd every minute, Excal spammed exalted blades attacks through it while taking a shit, Mag was pulling every now and then to give the team energy orbs, and I, the Nekros player, was playing Finger Tendinitis Simulator spamming 3 for hours. What an awesome time. Got thousands of argon crystals, stopped playing for a while, lost them all.
This was prime Warframe era for me. We'd either go volt with the tonkor before it dealt self damage and fuck shit up for hours. Or we would go ash and Loki and spin to win for hours. Now I see people doing weird shit constantly going invincible and it just seems weird to me. Warframe is not as beginner friendly as it once was.
Oh and we just farmed rare 5 cores and sold those for plat. Ahhh bliss
That sounds insanely boring icl
Thousands of argon crystals? Can I have some please?
Just wanted to say your videos are ridiculously well done. I'm looking forward to each one and I know you'll get the exposure you deserve! Claimed volt as my starter frame and still love to run into walls with infested mobility because he's my silly speedster
Thank you so much for the kind words!
I love how you do the history first and then the reviews
One tiny thing that is fun about volt's passive is that it buffs your fishing spears! Some of those fish that have armor and need multiple hits from certain spears just get blasted. Still a weak passive, but funny niche usage!
Damn, bro.... these vids get me so nostalgic... You're doing an AMAZING job with these! Srsly, congratulations, specially with the old footage. If I may, can I suggest a Nova vid like this? She was SO broken before when range was all she needed lol
I agree bro these are beyond well done
Normally I use Ember's fire blast for armour strip and I use capacitance for tank but I never really thought that he was meta he is just the frame I started with and so I kept him as main for 7 years.
sonic and spark music is so fitting for a video about volt
This is the exact reason why so many people went at grind hard squad for stealing your content this shit is top tier honestly
Great content bro! It's been a minute since I've dipped into Warframe, but you have a promising future with this level of content.
anyone else see a similarity between volt's riot shield and cole's polarity wall from infamous? It was kinda just something I realized
Volt is the only frame perform well in early, midgame, endgame stage. He is not only able to do it but able to do it well done. Even Wukong is not a very good choice for Tridolon and ESO.
I think Pablo seems wanted to nerf Volt, you can see his tweet before wukong nerf, but he is one of the starter frames with Excalibur and Mag, nerfing him will harm for new player experience so the nerf was denied and even got buffed for canceling speed panalty and weapon restrictions of holding electric shield.
I mean mag is awful for new player experience but is one of the best ability based warframes ar endgame
And excalibur is great at the start but kinda meh in steel path
Volt is the only one that does EVERYTHING
This isnt remotely true a lot of frames are good at any stage ie revenant
That's some harsh comparison
Volt is the best for that reason and he has enough buffs to make the game a breeze.
Volt was my first pick when I started all the way back in 2015 and I've stuck with him Through different systems and accounts, he was and always will be my main no matter if he's meta or not
Havent been playing WF as much as before and felt nostalgic when seeing the old footage. Amazing video, got yourself a new sub. Keep it going.
I remember back in the day purporsefully using a 70% strength, high duration setup to help midigate the damage cap, and to maximize the cc to give some breathing room. Those were good times
Uuuuh, yes. Sources on used clips. Love you, Nova 🖖🏼
always love seeing these videos. keep going man your content is amazing
Volt. The man, myth and legend. Back when I was 15, I picked him. He carried me through the game even back then when he wasnt "meta". I remember wanting a different frame just because of how squishy he was and got valkyr, but still went back. I have 30% of my 2k hours spent with him, making him my most used frame. Volt prime was the first prime i went for and claimed at all as well. I didnt build anything else first.
Now, today, at 25, I was zooming and booming with him and a kuva zarr in steel path. God I just love him.
Hey again! This video just popped up on my feed, and I was immediately thinking 'hey this intro is really nice!' then I remembered commenting on a video the other day and go figure it was yours! Huge improvement man! Keep it up!
As a volt main that intro sums up the entire experience
If he doesn't have those augments, He wouldn't be able to be the man he is today
True, Shock Trooper does make up for a significant amount of damage and usability in activities, but if for some reason he never got Shock Trooper back in U15, then people would replace Shock with Smite
Ty ^_^ This is another great video that makes me excited to try another frame. Your videos are the best!
I never knew volt was this powerful I just main him cause I like his design I got to the point of getting my own railjack and barely used any abilities other than sho k
Look at that young brozime.
I was never really into revenant, but doing the sisters with him, showed me one thing.
Hes great for everything once you know how to use his kit plus i subsumed his 4 for the protea skill slapped in equilibrium and know i can spam abilities with below 100% efficiency and still can near instantly get full energy
Bruh the effects on the old electric shield were so cool, why did they change it?
My first frame was vold but at the time i used to think i did wrong decision because Excalibur players were dealing more dmg than my vold ,my vold was literally poking the enemy thats all no dmg just disable using discharge but as soon as i got prime vold i did the build where when i use speed it will use my 1st skill constantly and with great weapon it was hella amazing but i stopped playing the game but still watch nowadays contents (btw is actually interesting). This video made me wanna play again but farming is for me requires patience.
The worst part about volt is the nerf his 4 got, where the time enemies are shocked by his 4 is effected by distance from volt for no reason, so enemies at the very edge are only stunned for 2 seconds lol. I used volt a lot before that and ironically DE could reverse this nerf now and not make him op at all.
The worst part about volt is that the randos spam speed boost no matter the mission, and then I get killed trying to remove the speed boost because backflipping is the worst to do
His 4 overall suffers useless complexity, if the enemies aren't really close it has a pretty long timer to start doing any damage at all. And it can't even proc electric.
@@NeuralSensei i see his four only as a cc and shield gating abilitie with it's augment, it is not a reliable way to deal damage even with terrify. And it would be really good if it applied eletric status for priming benefits
@@ailonrouge roll in an extremely accessible button like those additional thumb buttons on mouses has been amazing in this game
@@ember_falls because it's a compound movement, I have to use 3 different buttons, or 2 while in freefall, to consistently do it
volt was incredible in corpus missions when the game first launched because his 4 could blow out the lights/electronics on their ships and deal more damage.
I played this game back in the day when he was weak and was always a volt main. And then when volt prime came out I was a volt prime main. I haven’t played this game in years but it’s crazy to see he became part of the meta considering no one used to play him back then
thanks to this video i decided to revisit my volt build and oh its so much better now, thanks for reminding me about this beautiful warframe
Volt was my very first frame, seeing the stone age UI do make me feel proud of how far my volt went
great video, volt is such a fun and power frame... makes me said I don't play anymore praying for the day DE adds cross save
this is an eye opener, i mostly use volt. i went all in on a speed build which nuked his range so his ult was useless so I just replaced it. later on I learned that his 4 is pretty good so I build up range and duration with some strength. the entire time I took a look at his augments but didn't see anything special that was blatantly obvious so I ignored them which is why this video helped
I think they should update Volt's passive to affect abilities only, but also affects his abilities more as like a ability strength buff. Like a full 1000 charge is basically a 100% ability str buff to any ability he casts, which also resets the accumulated charge. And I also had this idea that calls back to the cinematic trailer, in that what if his 2nd ability has an augment that reduces the speed buff but in turn, slows enemies down instead depending on how much charge he has accumulated (yes, the debuff resets when the charge resets).
But I guess he's already plenty strong and needs no real rework. This is just an idea.
I'm really liking this stuff. You should do a video on how Broberon has basically become extinct. Every time I play,I rarely see him anymore. Especially with Wisp being a thing.
Well support frames in general are a dying breed, trinity is basically eidolons only
I still have problems of survivability with Volt, against Acolytes and Nullifiers. But you are so excited, I am giving him another try
Capacitance rolling guard and a decaying dragon key makes you immortal as long as you have energy
i remember on my first day playing, this random guy who i grouped with gave me volt prime. 4 years later and im still a volt prime main.
...gave yoiu? Damn. I haven't been given anything.
@@jaybirdjargon Yeah man it was crazy, communities a lot different now tbh. A lot more people try and just squeeze plat from other players now when it wasn’t like that a while back, quite sad. This was in 2019 btw.
god that Memeing strike clip is nostalgic
Thanks, for the info. I'm a newer player and just unlocked volt. This guide helps a lot.
As a volt main, I can practically do everything. I made a 5 forma build and use 3 completely different load outs suitable for my needs. This warframe is way too good to pass up and he recently got buffed within the last 3 months. I highly recommend him
Vold Made me start playing warframe 3 years ago.. i still like him to this day
That's why I'm always proud to say I choose wisely my starter frame back at December 2018. It took me a while to pick one but the choice was kinda obvious. The boy is strong.
This guy was my first everything, I’m glad I made the right choice picking him as a starter
I've always loved volt from my first frame and my favourite speedster, and I've put warcry with eternal warcry and man it makes any melee weapon attack speed go crazy with a nice armour bonus chucked in
Im a recurring player and i always puck volt to start off and ive been using him to complete all kinds of missions. Also great vid man!!
Next Episode of The Flashpoint Paradox.
Flash:” I am Barry Allen, fastest man alive”
Volt: “Cute, hold my lighting”
Volt speed also works on Defection targets. Makes the mission type SOOOO much better lolol
500+ hours in the game and Volt is one of my favorites. This video taught me that I can pick up the shields... Ty I guess :D
originally i used to just use volt to go fast and get good buffs and just play him as a fast paced version of the regular movement and gunplay of warframe. but after veilbreaker i realized how broken nuking abilities really can be, and using shards i've gotten him to have super good energy economy, stats (max range), and even a little room to mod him differently on top of that
This is way more fun I thought I would have watching someone navigating wired stuff.
To be honest, even if this entire video is about how volt got from being a not so much used frame to basically an anime main character, i like volt for one small reason over gauss for one reason: volts speed is more satisfying then gausses mach rush. Yes, with mach rush you get the "run wall pull enemies" augment and other good stuffs from gauss, but you cant tell me you dont feel that feeling when you just hold shift and run seamlessly without a care in the world killing everything in your way without bumping into anything.
Volt was my first frame and I did not like him. then, long after I had sold my Volt, prime resurgance came, and since I had heard all these people talk about how crazy volt is, I got Volt prime. I still didn't get him, I just didn't get him to work. Now he's my favorite frame lol
He's mobile, very survivable, has incredible damage and is fun to play in a group
My first frame and I still use him for anything I want. My boi volt has gotten me thru everything this game offered
Another Excellent video! Keep up the good work!
Volt was my frist prime warframe and I love him, I dont use him for normal missions but I do for eidolons or other open world bosses. He's insane.
Early 2014 i didnt know how warframe worked, volt wasnt a beginners frame but j bought him cause i wanted him that badly
As this is the volt documentary,
it's the VOLTUMENTARY
I really like these new types of videos, I don't know what it is about them but they're really fun and entertaining to watch, they're quite different from most warframe videos out there too.
God, I'd forgotten we had to get around the maps using stamina and coptering! Haven't used my volt prime for years though, will have to take another look.

All 3 starter frames shows that just cos you get it in the start of the game it does not mean it's shit. Also holy shit. I play this game for about 6 years now and you are the only person I know that likes the camera on the left side of the frame
best thing is, he is also getting indirectly buffed next update
