For $5k it's actually not a terrible starter bike considering that the iron 883 comes in at almost 2x. What I really want to see is the street rod vs iron 883 off the line lol.
yeah but if there was a 5k used 883 (in good shape), I would hop on that before the 750. But now that I hear the Street Rod is made in US, I want to see that as well
If you have a chance check the street rod 750- it’s got double overhead cam - dual throttle body- excellent dual disc brake, 43 mm inverted forks, piggyback 4.6 inch travel suspension, 8 inch ground clearance, revolution-Hi Output engine with forces intake, six speed, far better fit and finish from regular street 500/750- the draw back the foot pegs( an easy swap to regular street+ 2inch Rox handlebar risers- which resolve the issue) . 4K rom above the machine is fun and also the the handling is super with 27 degree rake.
Yep. A great choice. I own a '17 model with the ABS option. You can get one of these for a GREAT price if you just look. Mine was at a preowned specialty shop in Wisconsin. Had it shipped sight unseen (other than online pictures) for $5999. Only had 725 miles in it, still had another year of HD factory warranty and was priced at over $10,000 when it was new. The ABS was a must for me, and actually, pretty rare in these bikes.
My sister has one in a dark red/burgundy. She likes it, and is comfortable on it. Of course she is just over 5ft tall with her boots on, so this bike was definitely made with shorter Riders in mind. She sees it as a Cafe Racer more than a Cruiser and doesn't have a windshield on it, instead it's more of a flysceen/headlight cowl which seems to work better for her and no speed wobbles like you experienced. She doesn't do long trips on it though, but the nice thing about having a 750 cc engine in BC is that she pays way less insurance than her Husband does with his Electra Glide.
thank you for the feedback and confirming that there is indeed a perfect rider for this bike! Yeah I was 80% sure that the windshield was what the cause was for the wobbles at highspeeds but now I am 100% confident on it after your explanation. This is a very fun city bike - like how it was advertised when it first came out.
It's funny that the Steet 500 and Street 750 are so disliked here, but the bike is 100% not built for the US market. It's built for India where it sells FAR MORE than any other HD.
Though they are "not built for US", there are quite a bit over in North America since these were used the primarily for the MSF course run by Harley dealerships.
They could have sold a ton of these. Their dealers weren't interested and their existing customers were hostile to anyone with them . "Not a real Harley" why? Because it's affordable to the average person? Because it doesn't have an oversized motor? I've got enough boomers that make stupid comments about my Honda and whatever. I couldn't imagine buying an actual Harley Davidson and still getting shit on by the "community"

My first bike and I love this bike I’m 5’4 and this bike is perfect for me and Indian road this bike is not made for USA cause USA already have bigger bikes but in India there is different story for Harley… as you say no bike is bad bike…
The entire “street” series was a really good idea that was managed terribly. As a concept it’s awesome, as actual, real, motorcycles, they missed the mark. They should have made real, street oriented, liquid cooled, cruiser/naked bikes with respectable hp and lean and made them overseas and priced them accordingly. Foreign made, entry level, yet modern and respectable in power and performance, prices starting at $7k up to $10k for the biggest, baddest one. If they look good and perform well, they will sell. No one will care where they were made if it’s a good product at a fair price.
Good write up Robby. Yeah this could have been marketed and pieced together better. It was a tough to follow the VRod when the VRod was received so poorly by the HD crowd that the Street Series was set to fail from the get go. Today? If priced below 10k and had better QC and less wonky ergonomics, this could sell like hot cakes

Have not experienced any high speed wobble and the Screaming Eagle exhaust is all Harley - not that I'm all that fond of that noise.
thanks for your input and time! Did you get the street 750 or street rod 750? I have heard the street rod is significantly better than the street for comfort and performance
@@KSMotoCafe... Don't know about the comfort factor. After selling the R850r I tested all kinds. The Street Rod seemed higher, I'm 6' so no big deal but I'm still planning a lowered saddle mod. Performance may be something but after trying both I was quite happy with the 750 Sreet. My very first bike was a 1964 Iron Head 883 and have always loved it. Tested another one this time, nope. Times and feelings have changed. But I have found this kind of an oddball quite enjoyable. Corners well and scoots along well enough for my needs and desires.
So the bike is a pc of sht. Ok, got it
