My wife took the class on a Street 500. She fully intended to buy a "sport bike" but when we saw the 750 with upgraded exhaust, only 1200 miles and priced below $6000 she fell in love. We were just out for breakfast, no gear, no nothing...needless to say, I ended up riding it home 🤷🏾‍♂️.

john l If you're looking for a great handling, easy to ride cruiser I recommend the Yamaha Bolt and the HD Iron 883 or 1200. I myself started out on a '15 Yamaha Bolt R-Spec. ( I just recently supercharged it. It took a whole lot of work, but I managed to pull it off.) word of advice try to find yourself a bike with a low seat height as it will make learning to ride a hell of a lot easier. Good luck bro, And I hope you find the bike you're looking for. Safe riding! 👍🏻

So I owned one of these little toys for about 3 years, and I'll give you some straight facts about it.
    1. I'm 6'5'', 260 pounds. It's not meant for us big boys, but it was my first bike and I wanted something to learn on.
    2. While it's not a big boy harley, I've had more fun on these little toys than I have had on any harley since then. Even with my big ass on it I could do 100 miles an hour, and absolutely throw it around the highways.
    3. This bike is LIGHT. And liquid cooled (which means you never have to worry about this little toy getting too hot on you, believe me I TRIED). That means you can have PLENTY of reckless fun on them.
    4. You absolutely do not need to buy this bike to learn how to ride with. My thought when I got it was that I needed a small bike to learn on, but it's the exact opposite. It took me just a few hours of actual riding time to be totally comfortable on it. But you're going to need a few hours of riding to get used to ANY bike. It might have been better to learn on, but spending thousands of dollars on a learning tool that's just smaller than the bike you really want seems like a bit of a waste.
    5. The exhaust sounds like a moth farting a mile away. Get a new one IMMEDIATELY if you buy. I threw a vance and hines competition slip on on my old one and tore the quieting baffle out of it and it sounded almost like a real motorcycle (careful if you get pulled over without a baffle on, turns out cops frown on that)
    6. The goal of any bike is quite simply, rubber down rider up. Small, large, long, short, fat, skinny, 1870 cc, 750 cc, all you want is something that's going to be yours that you can grow to be comfortable on. Get what you want, not what will get you ready for what you want. The learning comes quickly, almost like you're riding a bike.
The street is absolutely not a powerhouse, but if you're a smaller person (or a big guy like me that really likes to have reckless fun) you'll have a blast on them. Like any harley, you're gunna end up putting aftermarket parts on it after you buy it, so you can easily turn your little baby into a stinging wasp of a harley.
Honestly, I bought mine for 5 grand out the door with 250 miles on it. For five grand you can't really find fun on a level like that toy was, even my LTR450 was more expensive than that bike.

Harley needs to try again with the small bikes and stick it out. They need a full line of bikes including "entry level/small". If you make a good one that's stylish, performs and is affordable, people will buy it. Something in the 6-9k range. Think something a kid right out of college can afford (not much) to compete with Royal Enfield (who are crushing it in that demographic) and entry level offerings from the big four. This bike needed a tach and more appealing styling (i.e retro--think 1960s Sportster) to capture the youth market. I think the main reason people didn't buy them is they were a tad too expensive still and the styling was a bit wonky with the tank up high and flat bars that should have been raked back more. Engine sounds good. It's a shame they gave up on it after two years, but the new CEO wanted to go "Luxury" and make a 900cc liquid cooled bike for 18k out the door (Ahem..Nightster) instead. I'd like to take one for a spin someday; looks like a playful and fun ride which you can't say about many of their other bikes. One thing about HD's like this; if the "Reeeeeal HARLEY Guys" hate it (Vrod, Street) you know there must be something good about it! lol

My first new bike was a 2017 HD Street 750 that I got back in March 2017. I'm 6'2" 195lbs and this bike is a blast to ride! The mid controls help to give great confidence in the curves, this bike handles great.
I added a Two Brothers Racing slip on, V&H naked air intake, V&H fuelpak tuner, Mustang seat, extended mirrors, Daymaker look-alike headlight, HD mini floor boards, HD grips. Red line is over 8000 rpm. This bike hauls ass!
I'm going to get it dyno'd next year. Some one else that has the same year bike and the same performance mods dyno'd at 70hp so hopefully I see that.
This bike is great fun, it's not only similar but is based on the same Revolution engine from the V- Rod. This is the Revolution X.

I’m 52, back when I was a new rider at age 11, my dad owned a Honda 750cc bike, he bought me a Yamaha DT 100 enduro.
The 750 was a huge bike, it was a monster on the road.
It wasn’t long before the displacement on bikes got bigger and bigger, my first new street bike was a 1981 Kawasaki LTD, it was a sleeper, it had the same engine and transmission that the GPZ 1000 had but the riding position was that of a cruiser.
After a few upgrades my LDT was scary fast.
Fast forward to 2018 and 1800 CC engines are common.
The difference in performance is way different than back in 1977, but not so far as one might think.
For instance the average 0 to 60 times have only gone down by 2.2 seconds.
For the veteran rider that may seem like a lot but to the average person it’s not that much.
The real advances have been in brakes and materials.
Today’s bikes have way more technology in them.
I have a touchscreen on my 2014 street glide with a navigation system that’s insane.
    A touchscreen on a motorcycle....
    Anyway...
I hope that Harley does well with its new engine.
    Only time will tell.

  • @ShipWreck54

Harley came out with this bike primarily because the EPA is cracking down on their fleet wide fuel economy. And because they want to attract younger riders. Sadly, dealers are making every effort to steer customers away from these new entry level bikes. I know because I went to a Harley dealership specifically to buy a Street 750 and was all but forced into the Sportster 883 instead. I dunno if it was a commission issue or what. But the salesman’s pitch was all about steering me away from the bike I went there to buy. I did buy the 883, mainly because this dealership would not even show me a Street 750, and the next nearest dealership was 2.5 to 3 hours drive away. And I like the 883, but I was actually angry when I left the dealership because of how I was treated. I knew what I wanted, I went there to get it and they just wouldn’t sell it to me. If that’s going on at other dealerships as well, then the Street 750 is doomed.

In Australia we have something called the learner approved motorcycle scheme, which limits riders to a small pool of bikes usually around 250cc for the first year, with a few exceptions. If you’re into cruisers the options are limited to the 250cc Honda shadow, 650cc v-star, the street 500 and a few others. For that reason the bike is a good fit for the Australian market, we can pick them up fairly cheap and sell them again fairly easily when the year is up, and all things considered they’re pretty fun and easy to ride.

I am glad to see HD in this market. This size bike is perfect for city commute. Years ago I commuted in in So Cal on a Yamaha 750 Virago. Great for lane splitting. Agile. Great MPG. You're right about getting the younger rider and/or new rider on HD. That is how brand loyalty starts. Got to root for the home team. HD for 2020 is suppose to have a liquid cooled Street Fighter. I can see this bike would be good in a city and for a newer, younger rider. It's a bold step for Harley Davidson. I remember them trying to sell smaller and less expensive bikes in the past. I believe they offered a 350cc and a 750cc motorcycle at one time. I think they even rebadged Puch motorcycles (scooters). No matter, they aren't the bikes that people think of with Harley-Davidson. Coming out with a bike with this size and displacement seems like a very risky venture. The domestic market segment for bikes is diminishing, and there's just a huge difference in reputation for import bikes in this category. The Honda, Kawasaki, Suzuki, and Yamaha really know this niche and have experience in it with an extensive reputation for building quality. It's going to be a tough slog for Harley. I have doubts these bikes will hold value on the used market.

As I age and have spine problems but refuse to quit riding I have been going to smaller lighter bikes. This may be my next bike. I can't handle the weight of my old full dresser anymore. I have liked the looks of this bike and the performance seems to be as much as I currently need. Most of all it is so light I can manage it. Two wheels, handlebars, wheels, tires, seats, engine, speedo with all the gadgets, all the engine electronics, Bluetooth music and headset communications with rider and passenger, headlamps, tail lights, windshields, brakes!! O.K. But think about what you can get in a car for the same amount of money! You could buy a Cameron with nearly the biggest engine!
Perhaps a ford 150 truck! I just don't get the price!! If you are wealthy no problem, otherwise I will buy Japanese!! Japanese bikes are better quality and last much longer and little to no maintainance!!

You notice that Harley looks like the 77 Cafe Racer that Harley made......My Dad's fav. bike.

Young people are not interested in the traditional 1914 undersquared engine. The potato no longer matters. This 750 is the best thing I have seen from Harley Davidson since the v-rod.

I test rode the 750 I might get one in the future it was super smooth overall I liked it, I have a gsxr 750 right now but might get the Harley so I can go cruising without the back pain

I used to have a 2004 Gixxer 750, was definitely hard on my back and wrists. Im looking at the street 750 or Yamaha bolt 950. Still considering. Some ppl I know who own a street 750, have told that it's pretty under powered. That's the only worry I have

So I’m tied between the Harley Street 750 and a street triple rx 675
Which would people say is the better option of the two for riding with a pillion
The bike does need to be restricted to 47bho

I own a 2019 Street 750 as my first bike upgraded it to V&H stage 1 (VO2 air filter, High Outpit Slip on and Fuel Pack 3) the bike sounds awesome extremely loud and runs great, 24,000 Kilometers on it and not a single flaw or malfunction, it is a comfortable fast bike for commuting and certainly I can cruise among big harleys and never left behind I love the kind of retro look of the bike so I am very pleased with it, yes for the price o was expecting a little more classy or quiality material but it is not bad at all

Firstly, does it sound like a Harley? I can't tell from the cam mic.
I don't like the short wheel base. For a tall person, well over 6ft, it may seem too small.
Here in Australia, there are so many of these bikes being sold as used. I wonder why?
Finally, what you did at the roundabout and that van was coming from your right, I do the same thing by going 'are you going to stop??? How many times have I seen videos where cars just don't stop when they should at intersections...And I thought I was the only one.
    Great video thanks!

I don't want to sound stereotypical, but does the Street 750 have any oil leaking problems like an older, air-cooled Harley-Davidson?
