That whole segment from 7:30 to 9:00 or so where you explain your thinking and strategy, then execute your strategy and perform the overtake was absolutely brilliant.
The tyre wear system on this race is based on wheel turning speed
The slower you turn the steering wheel, the less wear you incur

that's kinda how tyre wear works, the faster go when you turning into a corner the more load you put on the tyre leading to more of the rubber staying on the road rather than your wheel

This happened to me too. Today, Daily B. I was on Pole and another car already started way before everybody else. He got a 10 sec head start!
By the end of the race I managed to cut the gap to 5 sec. But he got the win with a fastest lap of 1:35! 2 sec faster than the #1 qualifier in the world at the time!
That is a pitiful sight 😑 come on Polyphony!

Happened to me Sunday night in Daily B. Guy had been in P7 and I was pole. He started 7 secs in the lead and still won the race, had managed to get that delta down to 1 sec, but man it was wild to see
I've had this bug happen to me a bunch. in the earlier patches it happened so frequently I thought it was an exploit

2:50 as a spaniard. The fact that the flag is not symetrical is quite accurate. Since the "patrulla águila"(eagle patrol), that basically exist only for airshows, is notorious for f*cking those kind of things up.
-Accidentally using white smoke instead of red.
-Accidentally creating the republican flag in front of the king for using two different red colours.
-A parachuting soldier crashing into a streetlight (that one was really funny to see)

I think soft and a pitstop is always the best option unless the time pitting takes is just way, way, way too long
Usually it's a good option but in this instance, a pitstop costs about 30 seconds so a no stop is the better option.
@@Super_GT ugh, I hate that. It's like your car turns into pit lane and GT7 arbitrarily decides to banish you to the shadow realm for 15 seconds because... I don't know, the island from Lost or something
@@Super_GT but people on soft were doing 1:38 while you on hard were on the 1:41s, around 3 seconds per lap with 12 laps total might have been worth
@@toccandocreacanaleulterior176 Imo Medium to soft might be better than starting soft because being on new softs when the rest is on worn Hards or dead Mediums means no car can defend their position from you when you fly past them on raw pace -> minimizes time lost
@@SordoBjorn it depends on what position you're in at the start because if you start first you can use soft since you can go on your rhythm and not destroy the tires trying to attack

Steve, you absolutely need to let the revs drop more before down shifting in the braking zones, especially at the turn in. You're essentially inducing understeer on the front end with excessive engine braking through the rear diff not allowing the rear to rotate.

Since the front left tire is usually the one that would fail, could you squeeze any more performance out of using hard tires on the front and mediums on the rear?
Would make for understeer galore but with enough practice it might work
I was about to say the same thing. The rear seemed to be holding a little life at the end of the medium run. I wonder if the combination would induce too much understeer. If not, theoretically you should see gains on the straights having that extra grip on the drive wheels.

Expecially considering that Catalunya is a very front limited track, not many traction zones expecially without the chicane

@@SilentKillerPrince Yeah, honestly think it is a gamble to try simply because when you've got higher grip in the back than front you lose just about any chance to abuse slip angle. It would be interesting to see the results but I'm split on how it would work out.

I did the Catalunya (no chicane) daily races quite a few times with decent success. The final time was an absolute battle and I wanted to extend the first medium stint. But the tyres went from red to dead in literally a corner. Not sure if it’s an actual puncture you get or what but I crawled gingerly back to the pits and went from P1 to P8. Gah!

I managed to win the race by slowing down the pace in the last laps in order to stop the Hard tires from dying. That was my 20th victory! I won even the third round of the Manufacturers Cup when my Viper's front left tire was kaput, and the player in front of me crashed!

I almost got my tires completely worn out too! Was running first for the whole race and I'm sweating bullets at the final lap. Did the hard tire/no pit strategy while P2 did a medium/soft one pitstop strategy.
My lead easily dwindled from 20 seconds to 14. Thankfully I crossed the finish line long before P2 closed the gap hahahaha!
The V12 Vantage GT3 I used was almost as good as the BRZ in terms of tire wear, but far faster on the straights.
Imagine how chaotic the race might be if they introduce tire puncture

If your front tires are worn, and you want more turn I find pulling the hand brake a bit will help with turning. It will wear down your rear tires but you did have enough life in them where it wouldnt been a bad idea. On a side note I think you should have pitted the 10th or 9th lap. you could highlight on any one who didnt plan on pitting at all since it was obvious they cant take turns fast at that point. With that in mind perhaps just running soft and pitting on lap 6 might have been a viable option.
GT7 is just a bunch of learning and you can really push up with durability races with trying new ideas.

That start early rolling start is related to desync I bet that guy doesn't have any car in front of him that's why he's started ahead like that
Also, don't forget about the damage model. Recently i race, i had a little tap to the barrier or walls and IT'S ALREADY DAMAGED JUST LIKE THAT

I am so glad that the Subaru is represented more realistically in this game than previous games. The latent angular momentum likes to throw the car into a tail spin and the torque power sends it home. This is one of those "always throttle" handlers.
Having flashbacks to Sunday with those mediums and getting overtaken by everyone.

with the new tyre wear I now have a rule of Soft are only used at X2 or below, Mediums X4 or below, else I use Hards. Am getting very used to using the Hards

First race: They still haven't fixed this?! This happened in a couple races I took part in about 2-3 months ago
So, when I was doing the Porsche Esports Challenge, my DR suffered a significant drop from a B to almost halfway down to a mid C because the game crashed during all 3 scheduled race times on the Laguna Seca track. It was super frustrating! I'm finally back up to a B but I was curious if your DR is negatively affected from leaving a race or finishing at lower position from where you started.

Hours before this race. I was pushing it so hard. Every race was faster and more aggressive. It was annoying when I got penalties like cmon
