I put it on a friend's FB the day after he took his own life 4 years ago. The song is about having the courage to talk about problems rather than bottle them up and become overwhelmed.
Omg, has he ever!!! 🤩 It's kind of gard to believe how many decades ago he broke, when you look at him now. He was young then, but still as gorgeous now, if not more so! And I love the friendship that he and Dave Grohl have developed, and love it when they play each others' music, esp. together! There's a grea Never Gonna Give You Up/Smells Like Teen Spirit mashup ❤
Amber & Jay, Rick Astley was just 22 when this song hit in 1988. Two more songs of his you just listen to are Take Me To Your Heart and Cry For Help (Amber, you will melt over the vocals on this one!).
I loved this song as a kid when it hit the airwaves. Such a banger! Please check out his song "Cry For Help" next, it's one of his most beautiful songs in my opinion. Love you guys, keep smiling and Happy Mother's Day to Amber!! 💐💐💐
I agree with "Cry For Help" for the next reaction. Also my favorite song of his. And you need to do the video. I think you will like it. It's funny that I just heard "She Wants to Dance With Me" on the overhead music at work last Friday. It's the first time I heard it at work; they must have just added it. I had forgotten about it, since I hadn't heard it in years. It's a funny coincidence that two days later you have it on your channel.
Cry for help is an absolute MUST, amazing song so different to his 'pop' stuff. He's released an album a couple of years ago and his voice is still superb. 👏 anyone who can sing his greatest hit onstage with The Foo fighters HAS to be a legend 😂
Every song of Rick's is always great. When I Fall In Love - My Arms Keep Missing You - The Love Is Gone - Pray With Me - The Ones You Love - I Don't Want To Lose Her - Don't Say Goodbye - Try - Angels On My Side, just to list a few. Its his deep register that is just amazing. He's also still performing and his voice is still great. Also, y'all need to check out the Stylistics. Betcha My Golly Wow, You Make Me Feel Brand New - Break Up To Make Up - I'm Stone In Love With You - Stop, Look, Listen - Ebony Eyes - Because I Love You Girl, just to name a few. Great lead singer & fantastic harmonies. Like Rick, they never did a bad song as far as I can tell.
I'm in that camp of people who enjoyed Rick Astley and though he had a great voice and made some very fun songs (not everything needs to be super deep and send you on a soul searching journey). I highly recommend "It Would Take a Strong Man" because it's equally fun, some great guitar work in it and Rick's vocals are totally on point.
Other great Rick Astley songs are "Cry for Help" (No. 7 pop hit in the U.S.) and "Together Forever" (his second No. 1 hit in the U.S. after "Never Gonna Give You Up").
Happy Mother's Day, Amber! 💐 Great reaction - such an uplifting song! Yes, we thought Rick Astley was a cutie! For his next song, check out "Together Forever." 💖
Great to hear this one again! This was a breakthrough for Rick as SAW production team allowed him to write, record and produce some of his own music. This was the first single from his follow up album and it is one of his songs. Oh yeah - the next one needs to be the mellow Rick - Cry For Help! 🔥
Rick Astley was my first Ginger crush! 💋 He is so adorable and his voice is phenomenal and I have adored him since day one when "Never Gonna Give You Up" hit the airwaves. 😍💞
A great vibe from way back, and it still sounds good! Other songs from this great artist as suggestions for you to react to are: Don't Say Goodbye Girl, Dial My Number, Hold Me In Your Arms, Whenever You Need Somebody and Take Me To Your Heart (A favorite of mine). Thanks for playing this and have a very blessed day!
Rick Astley is fantastic. My music happy place! He has alot of great tracks like this, also Whenever You Need Somebody, Together Forever and my fave Don't Say Goodbye. That song is fire! Was lucky enough to see him live too and he is an absolute showman , hilarious too not to mention an incredible live vocalist. ❤😍
The amazingly high number of times I've been "Rick Rolled" assures me.... the world will not allow me to forget about Rick Astley 😂 (not that I could, ever!)
Love this song, Love Rick Astley...he is still performing and recording, his songs never leave your brain, and he sounds amazing! He is also a fantastic drummer, as he shows in his concerts. He drummed and sang" Highway to Hell" by AC/DC when I saw him.
As a teenager he was the drummer in a band called FBI, doing the local pubs and clubs around his home town. When the lead vocalist left the band, Rick took over the singing whilst continuing to play drums.
I had forgotten how much I loved this song! He has a great voice and his songs are just clean, wholesome fun! In the eighties there was room for all types of music which is why it’s my favorite decade of music!❤❤
Impossible not to feel good to! it was the same thing back in the day when his songs hit the airwaves and the clubs, then we got a look at his vids and it took a bit to get used to that voice paired with that babyface.
Hello Boppers. This track and sound is typical of the writers of this song :Stock ,Aitkin and Waterman, who had a lot of hits around this time with different artists. Rick was popular for his voice.Another good one is Together Forever. Another good song by the writers from another popular male singer of the same time is Too many broken hearts by Jason Donovan.SAW also wrote early Kylie Minogue songs like I should be so lucky.
Up dancing with my Ricky. Canadian Grandma Lori.C. Great New Year's. Thank you. Jay and Amber. Amber, your Mom probably moved to many songs I did. Loving it.
Love this song, one of my faves of his. Other songs of Rick's I recommend are, Whenever you need somebody, Cry for help, Together Forever, She Makes me, Take me to your heart, Don't say goodbye, I don't want to lose her, Hold me in your Arms. All great songs.😎👌❤️ Another 80s Band you should check out is called Bros with the song When will I be famous.
I remember back then Rick Astley performed this on one of the Music Awards Show and the camera panned to the audience where we saw country artist Randy Travis watching the performance with one eyebrow up like what is this? Great Reaction ya'll 😀
My favorite Rick Astley song is "A Strong Strong Man", I hope you two will check that out someday. Also, please give a look at a clip of Christina Aguilera performing "You Lost Me" live on the David Letterman show. It's devastating!
So glad you come back to Rick, please don’t forget he took a long break from music after these very pop hits, having a couple of hits in 90’s ( cry for help ) and ( move right out) then not much till he came back with his 50 album since then he has several hits including my favourite Angels on my side. Plenty more like Dance….Its a Beautiful life…Try…..his voice is still amazing .
I was in the Marine Corp up on the Korean DMZ when this song came out. We had no videos or pictures of him just that awesome voice. EVERYONE thought he was a black artist with that deep rich tone!! Imagine our surprise when we got back to the states and saw this tiny skinny white kid!!! Rick is one of a kind, his music always makes me smile and want to moooove!!
😂 I feel for that guy at the end. The boss of the waitress is like 🤬 I guess I'm ##cked this evening. Also the guy with the hat and the cute smile and ponytail at the end too looks like a fun guy to hang out with. I love the 80's and 90's.
Rick is the MAN. He collaborated with Salt N' Pepa, En Vogue, and New Kids On The Block for a song called "Bring Back The Time." Check out his song "When I Fall In Love" sometime. Amber, Rick was 22 in this video.
Wow , time is a flyer .I remember when Rick A came on the scene ,he was 21 years old when this track was released ,he's now 57 ! ..still younger than me though 😂 I just turned 62.😮
I am so glad you said about his look not matching the voice. I was a teen when this came out, and I loved Rick Astley. I hadnt seen him, only heard him on the radio, but the first time I saw one of his vids, I was shocked... from his voice, I imagined he was a black man, with a big stature.. but on the tv was this skinny white red head hahaha. Not at all who you expect that voice to come out of. It is a powerful one. He made fun dance to music that we bopped to in the 80s. A top 40 type song. Man, I miss those days. !!! Loved your reaction.. you two are a special pair.. stay true like you do.. love the work you do. Happy Mommy day Miss Amber.. !!!
Loved your first Rick Astley Reaction to the 'Rick Roll' Song, but never recall hearing this one. Great song & Sax! Thx for another Rick Astley selection Guys! :)
Together Forever was the song he came out with after Never Gonna Give You Up. This one is definitely great, but to me, Cry for help and Hopelessly really show his vocal talent. Also, for something more modern from him, I suggest Angels on my Side.
SO excited you loved this song - Rick wrote it, as a matter of fact! There are REASONS Rick’s been my fave artist for 36+ years - and I have to agree with what so many others have said. He’s got AMAZING older material (It Would Take a Strong, Strong Man and Cry for Help definitely worth a listen), but do check out his newer stuff as well from 2016 onward as well (Keep Singing, Angels on My Side, Beautiful Life, Try - all of which he wrote/played himself/produced). SUCH a talented and awesome man!!! 🤩❤️🙌🎤🎶🎉
Back in the 80's he was given some airplay in the US, without anyone seeing him. Everyone envisioned someone like Luther Van Dross. A good voice is a good voice. That's the Rick-Roll.
it's amazing how things happen in life, Rick Astley was seen by Pete Waterman of 'Stock, Aitkin & Waterman' recording studios, and was employed as a 'Tape Op' & 'Tea Boy'. The reason for Astley to be hired as a 'tape op' & Tea Boy' was to help him to overcome his shyness. The plan was that with being with lots of musicians & artists would help him overcome his shyness. One day in 1987 they where waiting for a well known singer to arrive but the singer was very late, so Pete Waterman asked Rick to just sing so the musicians could 'tune up', and to everyone's astonishment this wonderful voice came out and a star was born.
If you look up Stock, Aitkin and Waterman you'll find Rick, Bananarama, Lisa Stansfield and many others all doing fun time music. Some liked, some not liked, but all were danced to.
When the radio started playing Ricks first hit Never gonna give you up in 1987 i immeditely visualised a handsome big Black guy wearing a suit and sunglasses in front of a big microphone bopping about with that powerfull voice ....i had never heard of or seen Rick ashley at that point lol
He was 22 years old when he released your song. He retired after 5/6 albums then came back with a new album in 2016 and 2 more after that. He even sang at the new years eve celebration in London 2023
If you've not already done, you should check out Jason Donovan, also from the SAW (Stock Aitken & Waterman) stable, similar sounding music but different style of singing. He was also popular around the same time as Rick.
I became familiar with Rick Astley when I was stationed alongside the British Royal Marines during the Persian Gulf War, cause they had the good music in their open air club 'The Brit Club' and became an instant fan :)
Fast forward about 30 years and check out a couple of his more recent songs (2018), Beautiful Life and Try. So beautiful and moving. Different perspective as he's now in his 50's.
I was lucky to see Rick as part of the Hitman Roadshow back in the 80s and then again when he supported a charity night with Peter Kay in Manchester. Cry For Help is a must for you to listen to, his voice is amazing on that one.
As the two you have listened to so far have been from way back i thought i would give you a more up to date recommendation so you can see what he is like now. "Beautiful life" was released by him in 2018, which is 30 years after "she wants to dance with me" was released.
This 1988 song goes so well with Whitney Houston's 1987 "I Want to Dance with Somebody." Also, the word "hit" the way it was used back then didn't mean the same thing "banger" means today. A song could be good, could be a banger, but never sell enough to make it a hit. Hit meant that it sold well enough to make the charts and be played on the radio. There were lots of good songs that never became hits, and there were lots of hit songs that you might not have thought were very good.
Here’s some more Rick Astley you should check out 1. Nature’s Gift 2. Cry For Help 3. Dance 4. The love Has Gone 5. Beautiful Life 6. Coming Home Tonight 7. Whenever You Need Somebody 8. Is This Really Love? 9. Angels On My Side 10. Keep Singing 11. Don’t Say Goodbye 12. Every Corner 13. Good Old Days 14. Together Forever 15. Dial My Number
I hope someone requests ‘Cry For Help’ always reminds me of my brother-in-law who passed away 2 years ago and that was his favourite from Rick. Awesome reaction and thank you for the great music memories. 🙏🏼💛🙏🏼
I took my wife to see take that in concert for her birthday a couple of years ago , rick astley was the undercard . Take that bored me to tears but rick was brilliant . He did some of his new songs also and there good . He does like a cigarette though which doesn't seem to have done anything to his voice . Hes well worth seeing live if you get a chance
One of the many reasons you guys should have been in your 20's during the 80's lots of great music all genres, pop,r&b,rock, alternative, country, easy listening lots lots of music.
Love, love, love you guys! Your channel is my go-to every day. I used to have a huge crush on Rick Astley when I was a teenager in the 80’s. To this day, my favorite song by him is “It Would Take a Strong Man”. Cute story: Back then, I was in high school and did my stint working Burger King for a little bit. There was this guy who I sometimes worked shifts with and he had a crush on me. Other co-workers made fun of him bcz he had acne and B.O. But I always thought he was really sweet. And even though I didn’t return his feelings, I was always friendly to him. A couple of years after Burger King I ran into him again at junior college. Boy, let me tell you! He was VERY much changed! No acne, smelled delicious and (I swear to God!) look almost exactly like Rick Astley! Right down to the turtleneck and trench coat. We reminisced for a bit but both went our separate ways. Just stayed friends who occasionally nodded to each other in the college hall ways. I always thought, “Good for him!” He came into his own. Bet they wouldn’t be laughing at him now.
THANKS GOD i lived in the 80's!!!❤❤❤
For me his "Cry For Help" is his best! So emotional and beautiful.
That's my fav as well. Being a teen in the 80s was the best.
Totally agree
I put it on a friend's FB the day after he took his own life 4 years ago. The song is about having the courage to talk about problems rather than bottle them up and become overwhelmed.
Me too, it's a beautiful song
Cry for Help has such beautiful sentiments. Please do it soon x
Jay & Amber, you'll love his "Together Forever" for your 3rd Rick Astley reaction!!
I never even heard this song, Together Forever is definitely better IMO.
Together Forever is a amazing song that he sings
Yep, definitely try "Together Forever." It was his second #1 hit after "Never Gonna Give you Up."
@@Kim-dm4yb This was the first song off his second album & hit #5 in the USA in Spring 1989. I actually think this song is equally as great
They did it already
"It Would Take a Strong, Strong Man" is at the top of my list for Rick Astley tunes.
That’s my fave by him.
Yeah, Love that one, too!
Cry For Help
Yes!! One of my favorite Rick astley songs!
My favorite Rick Astley song!
This man has aged like a fine wine and he can sing anything. I saw him twice last year with Salt N Peppa, NKOTB and En Vogue. Best lineup ever!

I agree, Cry For Help is my favorite of his.
Cry for help is a perfect suggestion! Such an amazing song.
I agree, "Cry For Help" is a fantastic ballad. My mother liked one of his minor hits "It would take a strong, strong man."
It's epic
Together Forever and Cry for Help are 2 of his notable hits - a dance tune and the other a ballad.
Cry for help is an absolute MUST, amazing song so different to his 'pop' stuff. He's released an album a couple of years ago and his voice is still superb. 👏 anyone who can sing his greatest hit onstage with The Foo fighters HAS to be a legend 😂
Its a shame you haven't listened to his biggest hit "Cry for Help". You should put it on your list for sure.
Your next Astley song should be Cry for Help! It's so beauitful.❤
After all these years, his voice STILL amazes me!!
Yes, he is still making great music now
Happy Mother's Day, Amber! 💐 Great reaction - such an uplifting song! Yes, we thought Rick Astley was a cutie! For his next song, check out "Together Forever." 💖
He really does have one of the best male voices ever. If you really want to hear his true voice do "Cry for help"...the official video only.
Together forever, It would take a strong man and Cry for help.. great tunes
His fear of flying kept him from being a long lasting member of the pop charts. Something he has gotten over through the years. He's still singing.
I love most of his songs! This is a great one! I also love, "It'll take a strong, strong man"
Hélio, Jay and Amber!! Love your vídeos.. I try not to miss any.. speaking from Brazil.. love to you both!!
Y’all need to react to “Cry For Help” by Rick Astley! It’s a great slower R and B song with a choir at the end.😊
A great vibe from way back, and it still sounds good!
Other songs from this great artist as suggestions for you to react to are:
Don't Say Goodbye Girl, Dial My Number, Hold Me In Your Arms, Whenever You Need Somebody and Take Me To Your Heart (A favorite of mine).
Thanks for playing this and have a very blessed day!
Cry for help would be an ideal choice. It's a great song!
You can feel the emotion he puts in that song
Rick Astley is fantastic. My music happy place! He has alot of great tracks like this, also Whenever You Need Somebody, Together Forever and my fave Don't Say Goodbye. That song is fire! The amazingly high number of times I've been "Rick Rolled" assures me.... the world will not allow me to forget about Rick Astley 😂 (not that I could, ever!)
His voice is absolutely killer. It’s so strong and just doesn’t look like it would come from that baby face.
Love this song, Love Rick Astley...he is still performing and recording, his songs never leave your brain, and he sounds amazing! He is also a fantastic drummer, as he shows in his concerts. He drummed and sang" Highway to Hell" by AC/DC when I saw him.

His cover of Nat King Cole’s When I Fall In Love is really good
I bet that would be good.
"It Would Take A Strong Strong Man" should be your next Rick Astley song to react to
Up dancing with my Ricky. Canadian Grandma Lori.C. Great New Year's. Thank you. Jay and Amber. Amber, your Mom probably moved to many songs I did. Loving it.

Yes Bros! When will I be famous, I owe you nothing, Drop the Boy, Too Much and Chocolate Box. Great tracks!
My favorite Rick Astley song is 'It Would Take A Strong Man' :) Don't miss this one!
I remember back then Rick Astley performed this on one of the Music Awards Show and the camera panned to the audience where we saw country artist Randy Travis watching the performance with one eyebrow up like what is this? Great Reaction ya'll 😀
He was wishing he had Rick's voice and charisma.
Another really good song of his was “Whenever you need Somebody”

Do his song "Cry For Help" it's great
America liked that one , using a choir on it helped too…….Move Right Out from around the same time has great soul and great lyrics
Love him! He just has some fun music oh ANDDD THAT VOICE!!! ❤
Rick Ashley has a voice made for blue eyed soul. Check out Cry for Help and Hold Me in Your Arms.
Rick is the MAN. He collaborated with Salt N' Pepa, En Vogue, and New Kids On The Block for a song called "Bring Back The Time." Check out his song "When I Fall In Love" sometime. Amber, Rick was 22 in this video.
You should listen to Rick's song "Cry For Help", it will blow your socks off. Assuming you wear any, that is.
Wow , time is a flyer .I remember when Rick A came on the scene ,he was 21 years old when this track was released ,he's now 57 ! ..still younger than me though 😂 I just turned 62.😮
Rick❤❤❤. That voice is unmistakable. One of my favorite fellow red heads.

My favorite Rick song - "It will take a strong, strong man". But all of his songs were great. What a voice!
Loved your first Rick Astley Reaction to the 'Rick Roll' Song, but never recall hearing this one. Great song & Sax! Thx for another Rick Astley selection Guys! :)
a Rick Astley must react to from back in the day is Together Forever
"Beautiful Life" by Rick Astley is a 2019 new release that's a banger.
I don't remember hearing this song by Rick Astley. I have heard "Cry for help" which in my opinion is his best song. It's absolutely beautiful.
Back in the 80's he was given some airplay in the US, without anyone seeing him. Everyone envisioned someone like Luther Van Dross. A good voice is a good voice. That's the Rick-Roll.
"TOGETHER FOREVER"
"IT WOULD TAKE A
STRONG STRONG MAN"
are very
good songs by
Rick Astley
"angels by my side" is another goodie
it's amazing how things happen in life, Rick Astley was seen by Pete Waterman of 'Stock, Aitkin & Waterman' recording studios, and was employed as a 'Tape Op' & 'Tea Boy'. The reason for Astley to be hired as a 'tape op' & Tea Boy' was to help him to overcome his shyness. The plan was that with being with lots of musicians & artists would help him overcome his shyness. Cry For Help is one of the most beautiful ballads ever written. Check it out guys you’ll REALLY hear how good Ricks voice is!!
Gotta love it. Another great song with the same theme as this is I Love To Love by Tina Charles from the 70s.
“Cry For Help” is a slower one from Rick Astley, and it hits you right in the feels ❤️
What a voice he has and love the dance music.
If you look up Stock, Aitkin and Waterman you'll find Rick, Bananarama, Lisa Stansfield and many others all doing fun time music. Some liked, some not liked, but all were danced to.
You mean to tell me you haven’t been rick rolled before this very moment? Impossible
When the radio started playing Ricks first hit Never gonna give you up in 1987 i immeditely visualised a handsome big Black guy wearing a suit and sunglasses in front of a big microphone bopping about with that powerfull voice ....i had never heard of or seen Rick ashley at that point lol

He retired after 5/6 albums then came back with a new album in 2016 and 2 more after that.
He even sang at the new years eve celebration in London 2023
great track. Rick is a LEGEND and sooo down to earth. Love him xx
Love this song, definitely has "Forever Your Girl" harmonies.
"Together Forever" is his other big big hit, but this one was pretty big at the time, too, even though it's not remembered as well.
If you've not already done, you should check out Jason Donovan, also from the SAW (Stock Aitken & Waterman) stable, similar sounding music but different style of singing. He was also popular around the same time as Rick.
In the 80s dancing was the thing!
"Cry For Help" will blow yalls mess out!
This is my personal favorite of the Rick Astley collection! Strong strong man is another great one!
Another great one of his is "Together Forever" and then a slower one that was a hit called "Cry For Help" Hope you check them out.
One of his other big hits is TOGETHER FOREVER. It's a really good song!
That's my man 😂 since I was a young teenager. I loved all of his music.
Rick Astley so great!
There are even videos online with him and The Foo Fighters.
This is a really good song and a fun video
As the two you have listened to so far have been from way back i thought i would give you a more up to date recommendation so you can see what he is like now. "Beautiful life" was released by him in 2018, which is 30 years after "she wants to dance with me" was released.
Next time, check out Whenever You Need Somebody, it's just as much fun, and Rick goes to town dancing!
This 1988 song goes so well with Whitney Houston's 1987 "I Want to Dance with Somebody."
Also, the word "hit" the way it was used back then didn't mean the same thing "banger" means today. A song could be good, could be a banger, but never sell enough to make it a hit. Hit meant that it sold well enough to make the charts and be played on the radio. There were lots of good songs that never became hits, and there were lots of hit songs that you might not have thought were very good.
Rick astley very iconic from 80's each song is for dance in each party sound this song

Cry for Help by Rick Astley is a personal fave, it's very mellow
This was another great song by rick. But you guys have to listen to the song Together forever.
Try "Together Forever " next....quintessential 80's pop Amber!
I had forgotten about this song. So good! Truly, one of the BEST voices of the 80s.
Absolutely love Rick Astley especially "My arms keep missing you" and "Cry for help"
