Biggest Group in the world from 1989-1992. 9 straight top 10 hits!!. 1 Top 20 hit! 3 #1 singles in the USA!!! 5 Top 30 hits! 1 Top 10 on the R&B hip hop chart! 13 songs that reached the top 40 on the R&B Hip Hop Chart! Heavy rotation of their music videos on MTV & BET. I don't think y'all understand how huge they were!! Still sell out arenas till this day
They were HUGE at the time! I've seen their Step by steps tour at the Montreal Olympic stadium then and it was sold out! There was so many screaming girls that I thought I was gonna lose my hearing! What an experience it was!
I’m 64. Growing up, I was in the rock world. As a young married woman, straight classic country after my husband taught me how to two step, waltz, and Colton eyed joe! But, when my teen daughter introduced me to NKOTB, I was hopping and jiving all over the house to their music! Still can’t sit still when I hear their songs!
The lead singer on this song is Jordan Knight! These are MY BOYS!! Blockhead 4 life! Donnie Wahlberg from Blue Bloods is a founding member of the group! My Boston boys! I was obsessed with them! This is from the late 80s early 90s! And I was and am a Jon girl!! My sister is a Jordan girl! Step 1: Danny Wood Step 2: Donnie Wahlberg Step 3: Jordan Knight Step 4: Joey McIntyre Step 5: Jonathan (Jon) Knight who is Jordan’s older brother Also react to Please Don’t Go Girl (This was before his voice changed), You Got It (The Right Stuff), I’ll Be Loving You Forever, Hangin Tough, Cover Girl, My Favorite Girl, Games, Tonight, Remix (I Like), Summertime, Baby I’ll Believe In You, If You Go Away, Dirty Dog and House Party!!
Generation X'ers..had NKOTB and New Edition. They were both MASSIVE successes. Not a single flaw in their Dance Routines and Live Performances. Original Boy Bands.. opened up the Industry..for the next Generation.
As an adolescent, my wife of fourteen years desperately wanted to go to any of their concerts but her mom never would take her. Now I've taken her to see NKOTB twice in OKC for their Mixtape Tour starring other groups of the Eighties (hence Mixtape). The first time I got us 8th row floor seats however I chose seats at the outer end of the row hoping she could get close to one of the band as they circled the floor. Luckily enough Joey McIntyre (the youngest and my wife's favorite!) swung down and around the floor on our side. She stuck out her hand and Joey quickly shook her hand in passing! Needless to say she blushed and melted into a puddle of adolescent puppy love. 😻💯 She rewarded me very, very well for my efforts. 👍
They still put out new music to support their tours. Look up "Boys In The Band (Boy Band Anthem)" from 3 years ago and "Bring Back The Time (Ft Salt-N-Pepa, Rick Astley, En Vogue) " they released this month!
I was in my early 20s at the height of their career. Loved their music 🎶 and watching them dance. Puppy love stage I already went through w Duran Duran. Lol. Fun times!
Thank you for this ! I'm currently throwing hints at my husband every day that they'll be here in July. He desperately does not want to go. But I'm screenshotting this to show him that he will also be heavily rewarded❤️👅👠🤭
@@lara4life656 Fantastic! Since this post we have gone a third time as much for myself as for her because Rick Astley was one of the additional artists! He was one of my favs during the 80s and I was not alone! Rick did 3 songs and got as much love from the crowd as the NKOTB did! A great night of entertainment for a musical stroll down 80s nostalgia. 💯 Good luck!
Saw New Kids on the Block and Gloria Estefan & The Miami Sound Machine in concert 1985 Here in Boston at Concerts on The Commons out doors on Boston Commons great show!
Donnie is my favorite New Kid. I absolutely love him now on Blue Bloods. He's a phenomenal actor that I don't feel gets enough recognition for his acting.
I’m a blockhead from day one with this group. I’m a Donnie girl and saw them in concert during their Hangin Tough tour. They will always be in my heart no matter how old we all get. Thanks for the reaction.👍🏻✌🏻👏🏻. Jordan Knight, the one you called the lead singer is very talented. He’s had his own solo albums that are awesome.
NjKOTB were the first global white boy band. They set the precedence for all subsequent group. Their manager (Mayrice Starr) also managed New Edition and wanted to put together an all white band from Boston . That's a quick genesis of thus group 😅 Also Jordan Knight isn't the lead singer ... you should listen to Please Don't Go Girl ... that's when I became a fan (back in 88) and I still am to this day ❤
They were my first concert in 1988. I've seen them 5 times over the years and will see them again in September. You should listen to the songs off of their "Hangin Tough" album... So fun!. Oh, Jordan was my fave. He's the one singing lead in this song.
Marky Mark "Good Vibrations" is a jam that will have you off your seat from the beginning to the ending. P.s. it's sung by the little brother of one of the NKOTB members...
Yeah, I was trying not to mention Mark by name. I've seen other reaction videos to Marky Mark and when they see young Mark their reactions are priceless. "Wait he looks familiar 🤔"
I saw New Kids in concert on Valentines Day in 1989 at the Mid South Coliseum in Memphis Tn. I was 13 years old. I absolutely was in love with Joe McEntire. 😍 I was surely going to marry him. It didn't happen but I still get a big ol grin on my face when I see them. Also, fun fact, my now husband of 23 years was also at that concert. It's was kismet!
Ahhh the memories. It's a fun rabbit hole to go down. I really loved Joe and their song Please Don't Go Girl. My first experience with the boy band sensation. Fun reaction 🤗
These guys and new edition started it all. They're still going strong to this day. They were known back in the day as the hardest working kids in show business. The media gave them he** all the time but the girls loved them and still do. I just went to their concert in 2019 and it was fantastic!! N sync who?? Lol
I became a Blockhead when they first started and still am at 59! They are going on tour this Summer and I’ll be in the audience dancing all night long. Talented group of guys.
Same here, and I felt so guilty because I was in my 20s and the bulk of their audience averaged around age 14. I'd be so nervous buying teen magazines you would think I was purchasing drugs! 😆
Lots of music influenced “boy bands”, New Edition a couple of years before NKOTB, 15yrs earlier we had The Osmonds & The Jackson 5, before that there were tons of groups-technically The Bee Gees & The Beach Boys when they were young had a big following of teen girls, The Beatles when they 1st came out were like a boy band even though they wrote songs & played instruments, girls chased them & had crushes on their favorites, going back even farther to Frankie Valley & The Four Seasons as well as several Motown groups like The Temptations mixed harmonies w/choregraphy in performances
Oh no, you’ve broken the NKOTB seal 😂 The way these guys took OVER the scene when I was in junior high. Saying they were absolutely massive doesn’t begin to describe how girls my age felt about them back then. Then grunge hit the scene at right about the middle of their peak, and it seemed like my geeky friends and I were blown away by Nirvana and Pearl Jam while the popular girls in school were swooning over the NKOTB boys. You should check out “Good Vibrations” by Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch which was a pretty popular song right around this time. Not only is Mark Wahlburg NKOTB singer Donnie Wahlburg’s brother, he’s now a pretty famous actor-I’m sure most people know him from his acting and have never heard of Marky Mark Edit: Okay, so I admittedly kind of hated NKOTB back in the day and haven’t seen this video or heard this song in a decade or two. Watching it now, I get it. Like… I get it. I’m dancing all the way through 😂 They were cute and super fun. And even if I didn’t like them, I sure knew their names and every word to their singles because they were every-dang-where. We really didn’t have boy bands with this type of vibe before they came along-I’m pretty sure NSync and BSB exist because of NKOTB laying the foundation. I think they were the first of this type, and if not they were still the absolute biggest. You guys have been digging up a lot of old music memories lately!
@@MorrisB1971 I completely forgot about NE! I did know Menudo, but was pretty young when both of those groups were in their prime-I think I was only about 10, maybe 11 when NKOTB’s first song came out.
A couple songs to check out by the New Kids are "You Got it (The Right Stuff)" and "Hangin' Tough". When the New Kids started touring they opened for Tiffany. Check out "I Think We're Alone Now" by Tiffany. Also check out "Foolish Beat", "No More Rhyme", "Out of the Blue", "We Could be Together", and "Electric Youth" by Debbie Gibson. Debbie wrote, produced, and performed all her songs. Her 1st album came when she was 16.
New Kids are STILL touring and we 80's babies still see them each tour!!!! My husband is the biggest Donnie Wahlberg fan! I'm still a Jordan Knight girl at 42! Listen to their "10" album....so good! 🎉
I'm so GLAD you enjoyed it!!! They are: Taking the lead for this song, Jordan Knight. ( the gorgeous, groomed one)Older brother Jonathan (Jon) was the shy one who sang " Don't you know that the time has arrived " Danny Wood was the one lifting weights and wore the American flag shirt he was the most chilled and calm one, Donnie Wahlberg (the one on the motorcycle, was the clown with the endless energy) is an actor who has been in "Ransom" with Mel Gibson, "The Sixth Sense " and Blue Bloods, and is older brother to Mark Wahlberg who makes an appearance toward the end of the video, and Joey McIntyre was the baby of the bunch who took lead quite often.
Jonathan has a really amazing undersetimated voice, but he is so shy, even nowadays, he sometimes doesnt have to guts to perform and his fans and fellow band members just accept him in the way he is and if he doesnt want to perform he can just walk off stage any moment he wants, no questions asked, and if he decides to do a solo, he is rewarded with so many hugs and love its almost adorable to see. He couldnt have better buddies. As we the fans know, Jon is gay and he struggled really hard with it and coming out, he wasnt allowed to because the manager was afraid it would ruin the band. But it damaged him so so much, he was 'reason' to break up because his secret ruined him. But the guys convinced him to come back and I assume he only would if he could 100% be himself. And guess what, the fans loved him even more. If you know that back stage story you realise how amazing and incredible strong this band is, mentally. Their bond with eachother and their fans is indestructable. Jon has secretly always been my favorite, however I expressed myself more with Joe, I guess it was my own struggle that I shared with Jon, I am not gay but severely anti social/shy and I can relate to him how being overly sensitive can ruin you as a person if you cant be who you truly are. He loves the same stuff as me, and it brought some tear to my eyes reading after all those years how he battled with mental issues but in the end got the life he so needed and deserved with his husband, farm, tv projects (he has his own home designers series) and stuff after he finally decided to come out. Jordan his brother also has mental issues as nkotb has like many bands been heavy exploited in those days but he also found out his bandmembers and fans lift him up and he thrives there. Nkotb is not just their music, their fans love all of them and how amazing down to earth they are, its almost like a cult. Their fanbase is very solid and they usually have their kids also hooked. The fans of the early days now go to concerts together with their (often) daughters and also the bandmembers have their kids perform here and there too. Jordan used to make so much funny prank videos, like going dressed as santa clause to his local grocery stores in the middle of the night. Or them racing around on the buggies of the crew in the parking lot of their venue. They are all so funny, who can ever hate them? I could only imagine how it would be if in those days we had instagram and stuff, we had no internet then. We as fans had to wait for real time mail, magazines or tv programs to interact, and in todays world, they are active on social media interacting with their fanbase a lot, however Jordan has quit that part mostly for his own private reasons.
I was between Jordan and Joey when I was 11 years old but, Donnie has a special place in my heart since 2009 after their reunion tours. They are all great performers and are perfect together. You’ve got to see them in concert. The mixtape tours are fantastic and are among the best concerts I’ve ever been to in my life!!!❤️
Boy band history. In the 60's it was The Beatles, '66-'71 the Monkees, the 70's was The Jackson 5 and The Osmonds, in 1977 it was Menudo, 80's New Edition and mid 80's was New Kids On The Block, early 90's Boyz II Men, mid 90's NSYNC and Backstreet Boys and I'm lost from there. I apologize if I missed a favorite group or two.
No. Neither The Beatles nor The Monkeys were ever that kind of boy band. In that era, the boy bands were single acts like Fabian and Frankie Avalon. Boy bands were (are) like finding sugar-free candy at the bottom of your Halloween bag. The aftertaste makes you shy away from ever eating sugar substitutes again. Just my opinion.
So glad you loved this song! NKOTB were my first loves. My fave was Jonathan Knight, aka: The Quiet One. Jon sang the "Don't you know that the time is right" lyric in Step by Step. He's the lead singer's (Jordan Knight) older brother. Fun fact: Speaking of brothers, another NKOTB member is Donny Wahlberg, who is the older brother of actor Mark Wahlberg. Mark has a short cameo in the Step by Step video.
"Please Don't Go Girl", "You Got It(The Right Stuff), "I'll Be Loving You(Forever), "Hangin' Tough". All great songs. My favourite was & still is Donnie Wahlberg.
They were heavily influenced by New Edition, who is also from Massachusetts. They had the same manager, who put both groups together, and in December for the American Music Awards they performed together.
Actually New Edition’s manager/ choreographer is and always has been Brooke Payne. Maurice helped discover New Edition by giving them their first record deal to record Candy Girl. That is it. Then they fired Maurice for not getting any money despite touring around the world as kids for a year and then Maurice as a result created the white version nkotb as he knew that model with a white version would make money.
The lead singer is Jordan Knight. Everything you said about him is why he was and will forever be my favorite of this group. He is in my opinion the hottest man on the face of the earth. He has a great solo career too and can play keyboard and piano very well. My daughter is actually named Jordan after him.
Thank you so much for making this reaction, New Kids on the Block now NKOTB are my favorite band since 1989, I was 15 years old since I fell in love with them, Jordan was my bias!! 🥰 I will love forever NKOTB!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
What a great surprise. I was 10 when they hit it big with Step by Step and I absolutely loved them. Jordan was my fave. I had all the posters, all the cassette tapes (lol) and I was fortunate enough to get to see them live on one of their later reunion tours. They were still as amazing.
These guys were my first boyband crush. I still go to their concerts. My favorite was always Donnie Wahlburg. He was the “bad boy” of the group, but he’s actually a funny, charming man. So glad to see y’all react to them. So much fun!
I was a HUGE fan. My entire room was NKOTB. I had the posters everywhere, merchandise. Comforter sets, The whole thing. They were huge to the girls in our generation. I am 45 so and in generation x.
Danny, Donnie, Jordan, Joey, and Jonathan were my boys!! Donnie was my favorite, and I still have a big crush on him!! Please do more NKOTB!! "Please Don't Go, Girl", "Cover Girl", "Hangin' Tough" are some good ones!!
Did you know: that Donald Edmond "Donnie" Wahlberg Jr.[1] (born August 17, 1969)[2] is an American singer-songwriter, actor and producer. He is a founding member of the boy band New Kids on the Block. Outside music, he has had roles in the Saw films, Zookeeper (2011), Dreamcatcher (2003), The Sixth Sense (1999), Righteous Kill (2008), and Ransom (1996), as well as the role of Carwood Lipton in the World War II miniseries Band of Brothers. Did you know that actor Mark Wahlberg was Donnie's brother? Did you know that the New Edition and New Kids On The Block lived in the same city and started about the same time? In the words of Biggy Smalls, "If you don't know, now you know."
I'm 39 and New Kids were my jam when I was 8ish. My mom recently gave me a box that has all of my old New Kids memorabilia. Hats, t-shirts, comics, fan club letters etc. Then she gave me New Kids concert tickets for June this year. We didn't have a lot of money when I was a kid and were never able to see them live so this was a super sweet gift. So look out New Kids my mom and I will be rocking out in Sacramento. 😁 I had a crush on Jordan and Joey.
One of my favorite boy bands of the late 80s and early 90s ❤️😍. Gen X boy band. Donnie Wahlberg (Public Enemy shirt) is also an actor now. And Jordan Knight (the lead singer) was my favorite. Maybe jump into checking out some kpop like BTS, Monsta X, Ateez, and EXO and do many more lol. Sorry I’m spamming the comments ❤️
NKOTB and New Edition were THE boy bands. I was a Jordan girl myself. They still tour to sold about arenas and cruises. Still put out new music. They are going strong. Check out them and New Wdition on one of the music awards this past year. Amazing. Also, Mark “Marky Mark” Wahlberg was supposed to be in New Kids, but is in this video for Step By Step towards the end.
You went down a rabbit hole with this group. They have such a loyal fan base and still tour to this day. I have loved this group since their song please don't go girl. There are so many of their songs you should check out like if you go away, you've got it the right stuff, I'll be loving you forever, please don't go girl, 80s baby, boys in the band, hangin tough, cover girl, this one's for the children, baby I believe in you, tonight, block party, house party, single, games, remix i like the, and their new one bring back the time. My favorite has always been jordan knight he was the one that sang lead on this song. Jordan knight, joe mcentire, and donnie Wahlberg mostly sang leads but there is a few songs that Danny wood and jon knight sing lead. I had a group of girlfriends and each of us liked a different member of this group. We went to any event or concert they was at within about 100 miles of our house. When they split I wished for them to come back and when they did I couldn't wait to go to see them again but now they also do a fan cruise every year that is so much fun they party with a group of their fans. It's funny how these guys used to have to run away and hide from us fans in the 80s and early 90s and now they love to be in a group of us.
❤yes! Love this! New Kids were the best! Born 1980 here so between Gen X and Millenials. I had this awesomeness as a kid and preteen. Then BSB a few years after heart❤! BSB did covers and were directly influenced by NKOTB! And they still tour and do amazing shows. This album especially unified my generation! 🎉
New Kids On The Block (Nkotb) are the most popular boy band ever (excluding the Beatles) since they are still successfully touring in the USA & around the world and they still have millions of fans. Go see a NKOTB live concert, definitely worth the price of admission. They’re in their early 50’s now but still are able to perform great wirh cool dancing & footwork, their live vocals are awesome, and their concerts are a lot of fun and they have an excellent music catalog so you can’t go wrong! Plus, seeing the NKOTB in action makes for a great night and a very memorable concert that you will always remember. I’ve been to many concerts of different genres and NKOTB are at the top of my list for outstanding live performance and overall entertainment!
I used to be in LOVE with Donnie Walberg (motorcycle guy). My best friend was in love with Jordan Knight (the guy who sang lead in this song). We went to a bunch of their concerts in limos and SCREAMED like we were watching the Beatles. 😂😂❤️❤️
Check out Donnie's Acting in the movie "The Sixth Sense." Love their music! I have NSYNC and BSB's Music CD's in my car! I watch New Kid Videos on UA-cam! The Right Stuff is my favorite, but I also love Step by Step and everything else they have done or will do! Thanks for your reaction!
Another Donnie lover! I saw the group for the first time on the Nickelodeon show Don't Just Sit There in 1988, right before they hit big, and they did "Please Don't Go Girl." The theme for the episode was colors so they asked the boys their favorite colors. Danny said red, Jordan said blue... Donnie said PLAID. It got such a big laugh they didn't even bother asking Joey or Jonathan lol, and I was in love (at age 10) because "he's different!!"
5:25 Girl, the first boyband were the Jackson 5ive! Then it was New Edition because they were the new edition of J5, then NKOTB came and the rest is history.
I was 14 when New Kids stole my heart. I saw them on MTV. Step by Step is my fav NKOTB album and song. I went to their concert in Oslo in 1991. This was my first real concert. It was crazy. All the girls screaming so I hardly could hear any music! I had a big crush on Joey McIntyre. I kissed him (on the poster) every night. My room was full of NKOTB posters and pics. I dreamed of meeting them. In 2012 they did a joined tour with BSB. They came to Norway my country. I had a backstage pass. I got to meet them! That was fan-tasic! The concert was awesome. This night made me a die hard BSB fan. Since then I have been to several BSB shows, four meet and greets including a BSB European cruise.
They have a song called Boys in the Band they released a few years ago that portrays the history of boy bands They're still releasing new music and had a fun song called House Party during covid lockdown. Mark Wahlberg even appeared in it. Donnie Wahlberg got Mark his break by producing him as Marky Mark.
I been enjoying your videos for a few hours now. My first comment. That pretty boy lead singer is Jordan Knight and he was my favorite. Yes they were the Backstreet Boys for Generation X. I cried at their concert the way little girls use to cry at Bieber shows. My wall had posters from the floor to the ceiling plus all their cards. You could not even see the wall. Good memories for me being 12 years old believing an older teenage celebrity was the boy of my dreams 🤣🤣😍😍. Thanks for the memory
The Osmonds we're considered boy band in the 1970s. They had there own T V show, magazine, cartoon show., Own line of clothes ,lunch boxes, ect. You need to do one song in concert to watch them dance!
Fun facts about NKOTB: Mark Wahlberg is an original member of the band. Brother Donnie is one of the leads on the popular show Blue Bloods. Jordan and Jonathan Knight are brothers. Joey McEntyre was 12 yrs old when he joined the band, the other bouts were 17-19. His lead on "Please Don't Go Girl" was one of their biggest hits.
Wow thanks for reacting to NKOTB. These boys were my world when I was a preteen. I went to their concert in 1991 and was 12 years old. You're right, Jordan Knight (lead singer) was the heartthrob. Jordan was my crush. So bad that when he walked up that side ramp at the concert, and pointed at my section, I took it personal and cried. I yelled I Love You Jordan!! I believed he heard me. I guess you can say all the girls in that section did but back then I wasn't focused on them. My 15 year old cousin fixed my long curly hair Tiffany style and I had these long dangling earrings. It was a blast to be so close to the boys that covered my walls from top to bottom(I had all the cards and posters). Jordan was just sexy when he danced. Donnie Wahlberg was the bad boy. My #2 because he always was in the headlines for doing something wrong in public LOL. Donnie Wahlberg crossed over into acting. He even was a singer on the Masked Singer. Yet he never got away from his roots. He still tours with his guys and I think that's just fabulous. We all grew up and our teenage boy band still does shows and cruises for their fans ❤️❤️. Jonathan Knight and Danny Wood seem to have been overlooked back in the day. Joe McIntyre was the youngest. He had that high pitched voice. He was the lead singer of Please Don't Go Girl. Donnie, Hangin Tough. They will forever be a part of my youth. Great reaction y'all ❤️❤️❤️😍😍
Omaigah!!! Im so excited that y'all did a NKOTB song. My adolescence just flashed in front of my eyes!! I was in love with the bad boy Donnie 😍 I hope y'all do more of them.
NKOTB fan from the beginning 🤖💚🧡💛💙❤️ Thank you to reacting to them. Some more recent songs are Boys in the Band, 80's Baby, House Party, Summertime, 2 in the Morning. Love all of their songs!!! 5 fun loving guys!!! New Edition came first and then NKOTB - without those 2, there wouldn't be any more boy bands.
I was just a little too 'old" for this one. They were on the air as I was getting ready for college, so didn't listen to them, but my parents fostered and one of the girls they had was a HUGE fan and kept me in the loop, lol.
P.S. I’m 100% a straight male adult so that right there says a lot about the NKOTB and their musical, dancing, & footwork talent & pure entertainment abilities! Lol
My daughters played a vhs almost all day. Oh how I love their music! Christmas was New Kids On The Block bedspreads, dolls, they even had a NKOTB fashion plates. I thank them for a clean and cool band for my kids to grow up with. One daughter had a crush on Danny, one on Jordon! Me on all of them. You can see Donny Walberg on many TV shows.. Blue Bloods,.Rizzoli and Isles, he show up everywhere! (He's the dude on the motorcycle)
I loved - ok, who am I kidding - still love them so much😍 They we’re huge. My fave new kid was Jordan (the “lead” singer y’all were talking about.) His falsetto on “I’ll be loving you” still makes me swoon🥰 Check out “You got it (the Right Stuff) and “Hanging Tough” in addition to their slow songs.
I had a poster of them in my bedroom when I was young. I thought they were so good looking. And I loved their songs. Thank you for this upload. Love y’all and keep safe.
Maurice Starr discovered New Edition and wanted a white version and formed New Kids On the Block. Both bands are from Boston and they are currently on tour together. New Kids have many good songs. They had a cartoon, New Kids rocked and still do. New Edition was definitely the blueprint for boy bands in the 80s. New Editon's name meant, new edition, of the originals, The Jackson 5. More New Kids, Hangin' Tough is a great song.
OMG!!! They were MY WHOLE LIFE! I had the cassettes, the VHS cassettes of them on tour, the dolls, the board game, the pins, the shirts, the slippers, the pillowcase, the trading cards, posters, endless issues of Tiger Beat/Bop/Big Bopper magazines, watched their cartoon every Saturday morning, and screamed from my couch while watching them on Arsineo Hall and Oprah. I finally got to see them in concert by the ripe old age of 7, at Dodger Stadium in the Fall of 1990. My favorite was Danny Wood, the muscle man lifting weights. I used to get so much crap for liking him, lol he was always called "horse face" or "monkey man" because of his jaw and strong features. Jordan, the lead singer, was a total star! He had the same magnetism as Freddie Mercury, just a total performer...and the girls went CRAZY for it. Man, I hope you guys review more of this incredibly talented group that used to be known as "the hardest working kids in show business".
New Edition was the first boy band, but NKOTB was THE first commercially, globally, successful boy band. They were the first in that aspect which lead to the Boy bands you know of. Listen to their comeback album “The Block”, that album is pure fire. 🔥
Fun fact: you can see future Hollywood star Mark Wahlberg holding a green basketball in a clip in the video because big brother Donnie was the big star in the family - at that point, anyway. Love your reaction and your fondness for boy bands! Peace from Ohio …

Lead singer Jordan Knight. When he went solo, you have to listen to "Give it to you". He also does a fantastic remake of Prince's "I could never take the place of your man"
I was so in love with NKOTB at 12 yrs old. We all were. HUGE HUGE HUGE following. They were my first concert in 1990 in Miami FL. Jordan Knight is the lead singer. Joey was my favorite 😍
These guys were rollin' in money back in the day. I was playing in a popular Boston club band at the time. These guys are from Boston. Their producer/writer was Maurice Star. He was a friend of a couple guys in my band and would sit in with us when we played a club near his house. New Kids had just played the Boston Garden a few nights before and Mo mentioned that they sold over a quarter million dollars worth of T-Shirts at one show.
I'm SO GLAD you loved this! My sister is 6 years older then I, so she was 12-13 when this group first came out. So I was about 6-7. And I would take her cassette tapes and listen to them whenever I could! I'm 40 now and I'm still a Block Head. My fav then and now is STILL Jordan. (FYI the Lead Singer you liked so much IS Jordan. And he's just as hot now as he was then!)
New Edition was before New Kids and made the blueprint for them, literally. I would suggest listening to them as well. I recommend If It Isn't Love, or Can You Stand The Rain. They also have stuff from when they were younger like Candy Girl. Definitely worth a watch. All the members of New Edition also went on to have successful solo careers, from Bobby Brown to Bell Biv Devoe. Definitely a super group.
This hit the right spot for me!!! 🙌 I was a Jordan Knight girl, and this was my first ever boy band I grew up watching when I was 12... what a trip down memory lane 🤩
Still sell out arenas till this day
😗
I learned all the words (and tried to learn the dances) to try to impress the girls. It didn’t work.
@@TheJoshuaPimentel 😂🤣🤣🤣🤣
They were HUGE at the time! I've seen their Step by steps tour at the Montreal Olympic stadium then and it was sold out! There was so many screaming girls that I thought I was gonna lose my hearing! What an experience it was!
Yep I’m going in June to see them live….again!
NSync and BSB wouldn't exist without New Kids!
Jordan Knight (the lead singer) was my first proper crush 😍
And New Kids wouldn't exist without New Edition
And New Edition wouldn't exist without Beatles Jackson five and Menudo
@@Fred-lz1vwand no boy bands wouldn’t exist if it wasn’t for the fruits
And none of them would exist without The Temptations
Dear Lord- I worked in a record store in 1989, and you have NO IDEA how HUGE these guys were!!!! They were EVERYWHERE!!
Step 1: Danny Wood
Step 2: Donnie Wahlberg
Step 3: Jordan Knight
Step 4: Joey McIntyre
Step 5: Jonathan (Jon) Knight who is Jordan’s older brother
Also react to Please Don’t Go Girl (This was before his voice changed), You Got It (The Right Stuff), I’ll Be Loving You Forever, Hangin Tough, Cover Girl, My Favorite Girl, Games, Tonight, Remix (I Like), Summertime, Baby I’ll Believe In You, If You Go Away, Dirty Dog and House Party!!
Donnie for me 🖤
Jon for me as well 🥰
Donnie was my best friends favorite. Good times.
Mark Wahlberg was new kids as well
Jordan and Jonathan have a show on HGTV now renovating old farmhouses.
@@laurabailey1054 yes I love Jon’s show Farmhouse Fixer!! Jon does such good work!
She rewarded me very, very well for my efforts. 👍
They still put out new music to support their tours. Look up "Boys In The Band (Boy Band Anthem)" from 3 years ago and "Bring Back The Time (Ft Salt-N-Pepa, Rick Astley, En Vogue) " they released this month!
@ColonialBuckeye Awww! Thank you!
The lead singer was named Jordan and the one on the motorcycle is Donnie Wahlburg who now stars on Blue Bloods and has been in many movies! 💙
One of the Wahlburger boys as well!
Donnie is so good in Blue Bloods. Love that show.
NjKOTB were the first global white boy band.
They set the precedence for all subsequent group.
Their manager (Mayrice Starr) also managed New Edition and wanted to put together an all white band from Boston .
That's a quick genesis of thus group 😅
Also Jordan Knight isn't the lead singer ... you should listen to Please Don't Go Girl ... that's when I became a fan (back in 88) and I still am to this day ❤
Um naw...Jordan Knight very much was the lead singer.
Uhh heard of The Beatles & Beach Boys?
@@tienclemons95He is lead singer since 1988. In 1986 Donnie and Joey were also pretty much lead singers (on their first self titled album)
@@ZillaMesh Yes but it's not in the same style as NKOTB Backstreest Boys or *NSYNC
@@baeirene2013 that doesn't make it any less relevant. Nsync & BSB aren't the original boy bands. Sorry that might bother you.
New Kids on the Block are MY Jam!!!!!!!! I have loved them since they came out over 30 years ago!! I LOVE THEM SO MUCH
Me too. Oh my gosh, remember screaming our heads off at the concerts?? ❤️❤️❤️😂😂😂
Mark is on this video too. Can you spot him?
Omg, Good Vibrations is SUUUUUCH a jam!!! 🙌
Donnie's brother?
Shirley, yes, Donnie's brother, Mark Wahlberg-- Good Vibration takes me back to peak undergrad days! 💪🕺
Definitely agree with Please Don't Go Girl
These guys and new edition started it all. They're still going strong to this day. They were known back in the day as the hardest working kids in show business. The media gave them he** all the time but the girls loved them and still do. I just went to their concert in 2019 and it was fantastic!! N sync who?? Lol
I became a Blockhead when they first started and still am at 59! They are going on tour this Summer and I’ll be in the audience dancing all night long. Talented group of guys.
Same here!! Best tours ever!
Same! I can't wait!
Same here, and I felt so guilty because I was in my 20s and the bulk of their audience averaged around age 14. I'd be so nervous buying teen magazines you would think I was purchasing drugs! 😆
@@jancw 🤣🤣🤣 That's hilarious, yet awesome 👍
That was my time, I love them to this day and it is so nice to see much younger generation like yours enjoying them too.
The way I was in LOVE with Jordan and Joe. Jordan especially, though, because that falsetto ❤️
Not only is Mark Wahlburg NKOTB singer Donnie Wahlburg’s brother, he’s now a pretty famous actor-I’m sure most people know him from his acting and have never heard of Marky Mark
Edit: Okay, so I admittedly kind of hated NKOTB back in the day and haven’t seen this video or heard this song in a decade or two.
New Edition laid the foundation for NKOTB. Both were huge together back then but NE came before & NKOTB even says so
Menudo (with Ricky Martin) 😁
@@MorrisB1971 yes. And on the opposite side...kpop and BTS wouldn't be here without those guys.
Seconding that there would be no NKOTB without New Edition. They proved that the Menudo formula could work in the US.
@@MorrisB1971 I completely forgot about NE! I did know Menudo, but was pretty young when both of those groups were in their prime-I think I was only about 10, maybe 11 when NKOTB’s first song came out.
That stair dancing will forever be my weakness with these guys. My first concert in the 80’s and now I get to see them again this summer! So excited!!
The right stuff was the big one for me back then.
There's a pretty cool duet by Debbie and Joey McEntyre of Debbie's song Lost in Your Eyes.
I love Foolish Beat!
Hangin Tough, yes!
And new kids on the block "I"ll be loving you forever" and "the right stuff"
New Kids are STILL touring and we 80's babies still see them each tour!!!! My husband is the biggest Donnie Wahlberg fan! I'm still a Jordan Knight girl at 42!
Listen to their "10" album....so good! 🎉
Donnie is my fave too. Most guy fans fave is Donnie in my experience
We 70's babies see them too, as most of them are also 70's babies.
@@MorrisB1971 very true 🤣
Jordan is the lead vocalist. He had another hit, "Give it to you". Dancing & vocal are amazing. 👏🏼🙏🏻💞
I'm so GLAD you enjoyed it!!! They are:
Taking the lead for this song, Jordan Knight.
Mid 80s. NKOTB 1988-1992 were their big hit years
Yes! 2000s would be nsync too and 98 degrees, then One Direction. Now it's kpop and BTS
@@DW-vd9mp BTS lol. What a joke
Watch Boys in the Band video, it kind of explains it all!!

Loved loved loved NKOTB when I was a kid I had posters, pins and t-shirts!!

I still remember my sister cranking these guys' cassette tape. Transports me back to the 80s
STILL ❤ nkotb since 89!! 💯 FOREVER!
And super down to earth all of them!
These guys are my age. I'm 56 years. I grew up being a huge fan of NKOTB. Jordan Knight is sensational. Thanks for sharing your reaction.
They were very famous at the time.

I was 7 when step by step came out ..back in 1990… nkotb was the first boy band that I grew up with… Im a NSYNC fan since I was 15 …
NKOTB have a number of hits, that you'll enjoy. I'll Be Loving You Forever is a must listen. These guys are still performing today.
Dang im old. 40yrs old I had nkotb posters all in my room in middle school lol I loved me some Jordan Knight lol
❤yes! 🎉
I was born in '81. These guys and BSB were EVERYTHING!! Saw them on tour together. It was so amazing.
Me too also 1980 born and have casette with this album😊😊😊
Fellow Donnie gal here 🖤
Check out Donnie's Acting in the movie "The Sixth Sense." Love their music!
"Did we just watch the senseis at work?" 🤣 🕺
5:25 Girl, the first boyband were the Jackson 5ive! Then it was New Edition because they were the new edition of J5, then NKOTB came and the rest is history.
Don't forget the Osmonds.
The Jackson 5 had talent.
Technically the OG barber shop quartets were the first boy bands... I mean if you really think about it.
Yes some on here saying these guys were the original boy band but the Osmonds were way before NKOTB.
“Sweet and Innocent” The girls went crazy for that one
The Jacksons were before them.
Donnie Wahlberg Mark’s older brother was part of the boy band. He was the rebel or whatever. I was not into NKOTB but they were talented.
I wasn’t either, like at all. But it’s still nuts how much of a phenomenon they were back in my junior high days.
This song was a big success in Brazil in 1990. My favorite boy band at the time!
NKTOB opened the 90's with this smash hit that went to #1 and paved the way for Backstreet Boys and NSYNC
I was a total Blockhead. 😆 They were huge and they still tour. Mark Wahlbergs brother Donnie is in this group.
I was in love with Jordan Knight! NKOTB posters plastered on my wall. Still a blockhead 🥰
Fun fact: you can see future Hollywood star Mark Wahlberg holding a green basketball in a clip in the video because big brother Donnie was the big star in the family - at that point, anyway. Love your reaction and your fondness for boy bands! Peace from Ohio …
Must listen to “Please don’t go girl”
That voice… ❤️
You've got to do New Edition next "If It Isn't Love" was a jam too. Awesome video too.
I was huge into Jordan (lead) & also Joey, the youngest one. New Kids was my first concert ever (‘89 I think). We were all obsessed.
Apparently, NKOTB has more #1 and top 10 hits in America than either the Backstreet Boys or NSYNC.
Which is saying.....what?
@@mikep6222 That "apparently, NKOTB has more #1 and top 10 hits in America than either the Backstreet Boys or NSYNC."
They started before them. Of course they'll have more #1 hits. LOL
@@jahspromise XD That's not how it works. All three groups had their hits during their heyday, not after.

Lead singer Jordan Knight. When he went solo, you have to listen to "Give it to you". He also does a fantastic remake of Prince's "I could never take the place of your man"
Please do more NKOTB. Sooooo many hits
I was so in love with NKOTB at 12 yrs old. We all were. HUGE HUGE HUGE following. They were my first concert in 1990 in Miami FL. Jordan Knight is the lead singer. Joey was my favorite 😍
Last year NKOTB did a performance with New Edition at the American Music Awards that was insane. Please Please Please react to that. It is on UA-cam.
If you are a fan of Backstreet Boys and New Kids On the Block, you need to check out the two of them performing together.
OMG I'm instantly 13 years old again.... heart still pounds everytime! ❤ Jordan Knight!!! 🎉😍♥️♥️
you MUST do The Right Stuff 🔥🔥🔥 oh and Mark Wahlberg's brother Donnie is in there! The FIRST Boy Band is without a doubt The Jackson Five ❤
My biggest crush in high school was Joe McIntyre, loved his voice and his beautiful blue eyes!
Same!
This hit the right spot for me!!! 🙌 I was a Jordan Knight girl, and this was my first ever boy band I grew up watching when I was 12... what a trip down memory lane 🤩
Jordan Knight has a beautiful voice and his falsetto. OMG! 😍
