The rise of Japanese semiconductors 33 years ago, the US arrested Toshiba executives in the same way,Seven years ago, France Alstom dominated the market, and the United States did the same to detain Alstom executives.
I am an exec at Alstom France what the hell are you talking about? Names of the execs arested? Never heard such story in my 20 years at the company.
@@OP-nj3wy It was the accountant. He was jailed in the US. The CEO abandoned him. France's poitical leaders also kowtowed to the US demand. He appeared on TV shows in France a few times to talk about it in 2020. If you do not know about this, one needs to wonder if you are really working at Alstom.
O P ......20 years at the company??? This statement is so vague! Were you just staring at the word, Alston???

I think once the law suit is over, the next step should sue the Canadian government. it is just a proper way to do.
There’s nothing Meng can do in Canada because it’s their country, their rule, their judges.
At this point China needs to arrest more westerners including Americans.
She probably will. The legal process her team is engaged in at the Supreme Court of British Columbia hearings will likely yield grounds for litigation.
Thanks for posting this about Ms Meng.
I hope you're in a place of safety and watch out for the tentacles of a former superpower in it's declining years.

Thank you Mr Barret for all the efforts you spent on this case!
That is so sad .
Very excellent and detailed reporting on this case with Meng, thanks!
Truth is, Canada is making a mockery of its judiciary, by acceding to at best, an ‘administrative request’ from the US, to deprive Meng Wanzhou of her freedom. The phrase ‘deprive of freedom” is intended as a euphemism for the word ‘kidnap’ - which was actually the case here.
The right to silence is protected under section 7 and section 11(c) of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms. The said Act provides that only after being informed of the right to counsel, the accused may choose to voluntarily answer questions, and only those statements voluntarily made would be admissible in the court proceedings. Yet, Ms Meng was deprived of a counsel when she was forcibly detained; and worst, she was coerced into giving statements and forced to surrender the passwords to her computer.
The fundamental rule of natural justice in legal proceedings is that the actors should be impartial and free from bias. This follows from the principle that “justice should not only be done, but should manifestly be seen to be done”.
Ms Meng was detained upon arrival at Vancouver International Airport by Canada Border Services Agency officers in December 1, 2018.
But the indictment by the US Justice Department against the Chinese telecom firm Huawei and its chief financial officer, Ms Meng Wanzhou (outlining a trumped up charges premised on a decade-long attempt by the company to steal trade secrets, obstruct a criminal investigation and evade economic sanctions on Iran) was only filed in Jan 28, 2019.
That was one whole year after she was detained and deprived of her freedom. It is a detention without trial.
Besides, it is a no brainier that the indictments come amid a broad and aggressive campaign by the United States to try to thwart Huawei, China’s biggest telecom equipment maker, and Beijing’s global ambitions of technological dominance.
A country “rule by law”.!! Its execution arresting CFO Meng is certainly a very big embarrassment!, especially to a country championing “human rights “
Canadian Border and Police arresting officers appeared to be nothing more than just obedient servants without an iota of self-esteem in their arresting procedures

Will you say the same if Meng is not extradited?
Lee, good work !
Totally disgusted by the action of USA and Canada. This is KIDNAPPING.
In all the way it was an organized kidnapping on Canadian soil.
In the end, Ms Meng should file lawsuits against Canadian government for opportunity costs and loses while under arrest at home in Vancouver. This is an illegal arrest as Ms Meng does not violate any Canadian laws what so ever.

Meng and most of Chinese gravest mistake is to take the western countries in good faith, unsuspecting them of playing dirty. The 4 eyes Anglo Saxon countries in particular must never be treated as independent states. They are just extention of US. So Meng paid the price and the rest hopefully learnt a lesson.

Please read a book called the American trap. It's worth reading for those who may want to invest in the US.
@Finn Hansen to make a long story short, just go and buy one and find out for yourself first hand. And then don't forget to tell me all about it later.
@Finn Hansen The book is written by Frederic Pieruci, an executive of the former French company Alstom. In 1913, Alstom was ahead of the US technology in its field like Huawei is ahead of US technology in 5G technology. Frederic Pieruci, like Ms. Meng, was arrested by the US authorities, forcing the then owners of Alstom to sell the company to a US company so that Alstom became a US company instead of a French company, It was a true technology theft. After the sale of Alstom, Frederic Pieruci was swiftly set free. In his book, Pieruci explains the whole trap set by the US to acquire Alstom.

This case is similar with france giant company Alstom which attacked by US. The victim Frédéric Pierucci was suffered many years and he wrote a book "The American Trap" share his experiences which you can see it is very similar with Ms. Meng case. Actually it is the same!
Hey , Barrett father / son 's channel is so Justice , salute .
It's definitely a kidnapping case. The goal is to blackmail Huawei for their 5G technology.
A very nice analysis of the case so far, you've included many little details which I didn't realize before~ good job! 👍👍👍 Hope it all works out for Ms. Meng in the end. 🙏🙏🙏
Totally agree with your points, that's all politics. dirtiest job in the world.
Thank you Mr Barrett for speaking out for justice. Remember the old Tom Hank’s movie “The Terminal”. Hanks was stuck at the airport terminal because he became stateless due to a war at his home country. The police wanted to arrest him but they couldn’t as long as he stays in the terminal area. Therefore I tend to agree that the Canadian police has no jurisdiction arresting Meng in the transit terminal.
The whole thing is politically motivated. I hope the judges in Canada have stronger sense of justice than their Prime Minister! I’ve read some positive news on the court accepting some critical arguments by Meng’s lawyers. I wish Meng the best of luck! 💪💪♥️♥️
drove by Meng's home in Vancouver, lots under covers there, they took a photo of my car license plate. hmmmm
Because you don't look white, this is racial profiling
It is hard to find a white face in Vancouver, just you know, it is city of asians (Japanese, Koreans and Chinese).
Canada:爸?
USA:诶!
Shame, very dirty political strategy.
From the very beginning, the Canadian politician in many events talked about the "rules of the law" as excuses of wrong doing, never explained the rules of law what, what the law says, what the content of the rules and how Ms. Meng relevant to it? Can't image what was about to an innocent business executive during her international business traveling! Kidnapped, the only understandable and acceptable answer so far.
"Just do the kidnap openly like it is legal. You can control the laws in your country, don't you?"
Thanks for the clarity .
Informing people of their rights is considered a failure , in a post-truth society by the careerists responsible
for doing so .
Hope Meng pulls through this ordeal
Great mate
your reporting is highly intelligent and without prejudice.
Very nice independent analysis!
thank u for sharing!! dont know much about this
I hate seeing that an innocent woman is bullied by both US and CA governments in front of the whole world, only because her family business is so successful!!!
Wow your notes are really good, you must be REALLY into this case to gather such depth into the subject.
Not only are you covering the general story but the agencies involved, the laws and procedures around these kind of operations, Sabrinas itinerary, witness testimonies, court documents etc etc
VERY IMPRESSIVE for a civilian level analysis. Where do you find the time in the middle of being entertained and sight seeing around the country?? WOW!
This case is showing the dark side in US and Canada when something arose to compete with their long term control system but for China this is only economic and business issue. Overall, US and Canada won't accept fair competition because their "political" reasons.
They handled so carelessly in such sensitive case. Canadian law enforcement is not as proper as everyone thinks.
Canada is so proud been chosen by US as the special one
there are many Chinese look up to USA, but they never think Trump will play like this much dirty, I don't even think North Korea would do like that

FBI first got the sim card from her phone. There they got all call records from that sim card. Then they got the IMEI number. That's the identity number of the handset itself. With that number, you can trace what other sim cards used with the handset. Therefore FBI can find out more call exchanges to identify additional contacts.

So true
For fellow Canadian, if you care enough for the release of Meng Wenzhou, please sign the Canadian government parliament petition e-2857 for parliamentary debate. The signatory has reached petition required, but more signatures shall put more weight on the debate. Closed for signature date January 20, 2021.
Done. Cheers.
May those guilty parties burn in hell!
To put it in a nutshell, this is a wrongful arrest. As such, her continuing detention is illegal. Case should be thrown out of the window by the judge and she should be free to fly home.
The video mentions the arrest by the US authorities of Frederic Pieruci, an executive of the French company Alstom, in 2013 and his subsequent release after Alstom was acquired by a US company. There is a parallel between the arrest of Frederic Pieruci and Ms. Meng Wanzhou. In both cases, the objective of the US is to force the sale of their respective companies to US companies. Huawei is not a public company but is owned by its employees,. In 2019, while Meng Wanzhou was in house arrest in Vancouver, the US authorities sent a number of journalists from Reuters, CNN, NBC, BBC, etc. to "interview" Ren ZhengFei, the founder of Huawei and the father of Meng Wanzhou,. Invariably, all the interviers asked Ren whether he would make Huawei a public company and whether he would pick up the phone if Donald Trump, the President of the US, called him or if he would like to meet Donald Trump. It is obvious that all the interviwers were requested by the US authorities to ask these questions, The purpose was to allow the transfer of ownership of Huawei to a US company, In all these interviews, Ren made it clear that Huawei will never be a public company and that he has nothing to say to Donald Trump. The same thing is happening with Tik Tok. The aim of the US is to have a US company acquire Tik Tok because Tik Tok, like Huawei and Alstom, is ahead of the US in its field. It is unfortunate for Canada that it has accepted to play the dirty US game because since the arrest of Meng Wanzhou, exports of Canada to China has dropped by 50%., Before the arrest of Meng WanZhou, Canadian exports to China were growing at the rate of 40% per year. Furthermore, China blocked the export of a Chinese covid 19 vaccine to Canada thus stopping the collaboration between China and Canada on the testing of the vaccine in Canada. Hopefully, Canada will come to its senses very soon so that the relations between Canada and China may be restored.
Contain raise of China is geo political and geo strategic imperative of USA geo politics
Even if she's not found guilty and eventually set free, the damage has been done. So I suggest Meng Wanzhou should file a criminal case against those who
arrested "abducted and kidnapped" her without due process of law. Extradition Law is only about extraditing their citizens between the two countries and Sabrina is a chinese national, it's the international police( interpol) who is supposed to serve the warrant of arrest NOT the Canadian Mounted- Police! Therefore, the Extradition Court of Canada has no jurisdiction to try, hear and decide the case.
The message of Video is truly very important for not having different standard on Human Rights.
(Perhaps my comment is still hard to be understood currently)
As Canadian Chinese...born in H.K.
Feeling shameful about the Canadian part played in Sabrina s case.
Why? Because a foreigner who is being paid by Huawei and is no expert on these matters is telling you so? How about the two Chinese professors who just plead guilty for stealing information on behalf of Huawei in the US. Let the trial play out and the truths will be determined. Ms. Meng lives in Canada, like many other wealthy Chinese citizens and CCP family members. Don't be mislead by the propaganda from these paid wumao's who do nothing but post blogs on behalf of the CCP. Where's Lee's blog about the two Canadians jailed in China?
👏👏👏
Canadian is too eager to believe and please the US Govt. Too bad. That makes me respect our PM Jean Chretian even more.
Yes Canada has been doing the dirty work for a “brother “ who never really cares about this little bro.
Meng was arrested ultimately because Huawei lead the way in 5G whereas USA receive around 1 trillion a year from the world using 4G. This is the main reason why the US is going after Huawei.

The two Michaels were accused of crimes committed within the PRC as Canadians. Whether they are guilty is not the point...
Meng is a Chinese citizen accused of crimes committed in China, by the US.
It's like arresting Iranians when they are stopping by the US for having more than one wives. Is there legal base here?
Anyone who Google her name would stay away from the mess.
Now that the US has elected a new President I wonder what the effect will be? If the new President decides to normalize relations ( or make them less aggressive) in regards to Iranian sanctions, does the case become without merit? At the very least the outdated policy should have some bearing on this case. I wonder how the relations between US and Chinese policy will be affected. I think it will be a fairly rapid repudiation of Trump's policy towards Iran but China may be a different, more cautious approach.
What does anybody say about Iran?
