      As a Chinese, I hope you can come to Xinjiang to travel very much. See for ourselves if the Communist Party is oppressing and enslaving the Uighur people as the Western media claims. The Uighur people would never imagine that they are living a happy life, but some say they are being imprisoned in concentration camps.

      Yep... was told not to go to China for work by family before I left the UK... I was given all the reasons you could think of - and I am a black woman, so that made all the reasons given worse. My experience was far from anything they all expected! I had a very positive experience and absolutely love China.

    I agree with you. My Father was in one of the first tourist tours of China in the 70s when it started opening up. He then visited again in the 80s and 2000s. He kept saying to me, you have to visit China. However, it was not until I visited China, I realized how brainwashed I was. It was nothing like I was led to believe during my education and also the media portrayed. I love China and and want to go back when we can start travelling again. The more I learn about China, the more I realise there is still so much I don't know. I'm here to learn about China, try to understand this country, and expose myself to different lifestyles and opinions. Living abroad, especially in a country like China, which is so different to what we as Westerners are used to in our home countries, is a massive learning curve and also a great chance for personal development. After ten years here, I feel I've only just scratched the surface. At the same time, being away from home makes you appreciate where you come from more for various reasons, so I think that before I left Australia I didn't consider myself as a patriotic Aussie - but after living here, I now feel I am. Meanwhile, I've also grown to appreciate an entirely different culture and society - which is why I feel so strongly that we should all find a way to coexist peacefully. It is okay, and more than possible, to appreciate two ways of living, two countries, and two cultures at the same time. Different doesn't equal wrong, it is just different, and that is okay.

    Born and raised in Hong Kong, I used to have no sense of belongings or even felt embarrassed of being Chinese... until 2003, I went to Beijing, learn about the history, the people, the culture and I was confused (because things are not the same as what I heard/thought)... on the last day, my sister and I went to see the flag raising in Tianamen Square... we both cried just watching the flag goes up, that's sense of belongings and I know... I found the root, I found my country... and I can tell you very proudly that I'm Chinese, not Hong Kong Chinese, not HongKonger... but, Only - Chinese !

And he was totally western minds full of that democracy and autocracy camp thing, I tried to explain how we feel about being a Chinese nowadays but why would I bother, he has his own value, just by told by people he would feel anything.

    I am Tujia, one of the ethnic minority groups in China. My Mom is Miao and my dad is Tujia. My grandpa used to live in one of the poorest villages in Guizhou China, and he was the first generations to leave that village for city. I was born in a city in China and now I have been living in England for 5 years so far. Every time when I mentioned I am an ethnic minority Chinese they always asked me '"have you been to the concentration camps" "have your parents been forced to work" or "have you ever been tortured by CCP". I get really tired of answering this kind of questions, and I always tried to change their perception about China, but all ended up with "you have been brainwashed." So now I am trying to avoid any topics related to China. This is so sad.

      You cannot change perception when all they hear about China is negative things from their media since the day they were born. If you are born in the west, you will think like them too.
      But it is also these perception that got China starting to get ahead of the west in many areas. People in the west believed that China is backwards and minorities are being suppressed and they lived with that false sense of superiority and continue to be complacent! Leave it, they will wake up one fine day, but that day will be too late for them to wake up.

The fact is that China is a country with hundreds of millions of intelligent people who are educated and industrious. The government of China is the CCP that rules the country with a unique governance system that works incredibly well for the 1.4 Billion Chinese citizens; the country is a mix of communism, socialism, and capitalism; and this mix works very well for China. As an Australian living in China, I still see comments made by people online, who really have absolutely no idea!! My mother worked here for 6 years before me, and although I never visited in that time, I was fairly well informed about life here. But there were still a whole lot of preconceived ideas I had, which it took actually being here to dispell. A great song by John Williamson, an Australian songwriter, has the line "Good news never made a paper sell", which sums things up beautifully. The only time we see China in the media in the west, it is the negative news, and whether the stories are accurate or not, some are, but many are not, it fails to show the great stories that far outweigh the negative!! It is a beautiful place, with beautiful people, and hopefully with channels like yours, and the videos I plan to start making soon, the outside perspective on China can become a fairer representation of what the country actually is!! Great work, only just found your channel, but I'm impressed with your work!! Keep it up!! 😄😄

For many of western people I met, I wanted to say to them: we don’t expect you to like China, just please don’t lie about China. or maybe don’t help spread lies when you don’t know China. Being a Chinese, I was too conservative to say. Chinese people tend to avoid face to face conflicts, you know that.

    Many Chinese from China do comment or criticize the Chinese government, but usually, they won’t just simply do it in front of you unless you are close with them, or unless they found that you are someone able to talk to. Because most of them understand that the political views of each person even in the same country also could be very different. And sometimes, you will find it very surprising that the Chinese even know more than you, they even know the background or the history of the president of other countries (even just some small countries) if they interested to know about. And also sometimes you will find it very surprising that, their understanding of politics and history of the world and China itself even stronger than any foreigners (I am a Malaysian Chinese, not Chinese from China). Yes, there are some amount of Chinese not agree with CCP, and it’s a normal phenomenon, but many of them still understand that communism is a current system that is more suitable for China. (If you understand the flow of Chinese history, it‘s always apart, then combine, apart combine, apart combine, and the current situation is combining for their country. Dynasty Qing is combine then after that civil war between Guomindang and CCP is apart, then now is combine, and Chinese alway suffered during the period of apart). Chinese actually are very clever, yes the management part of CCP is without freedom of speech, but they manipulate a capitalism like of economic system in certain region of China, or slowly the whole China, otherwise, CCP won’t be survived until today. Try to track the Chinese history, the civil war alway more extreme than many western countries nowadays from the history.
    Each civil war, involved many millions chinese died. So this is the political views of Chinese. They don’t judge or comments if they don’t know. Something I admire that, sometimes I criticised my government in front of my Chinese friends, usually they don’t comment but just listen, they don’t comment if they do not know it. But for sure, certain amount of CCP irrational fans will attacked some countries like US, Japan, Australia or others which ever brought troubles to them. But usually the comments not as harsh as westerners. Unless you really make them very harsh.
    And one thing that I realised recently (I am studying in Shanghai now), they did collect opinions or suggestion (via certain form or survey) from the students regards the school, the system, lecturers and etc. My Chinese friend worked in a government water department, they did collect the survey or opinions from their customers, if the survey show that there are many negative Feedbacks, then they will change or reform the policy based on the majority opinions. So I think this is the way they collect opinion and do reform, I think this is also another kind of freedom for them.

    • @still451
      @still451 3 роки тому +1

      @sarah LL Maybe you are not close with them yet, or maybe they found that you don't have the same languages like them. If you can understand Mandarin, Cantonese, or even Hokkien, you will know their opinion. And currently, the comments from Hong Kee and Taiwanese (of course not all) are very harsh towards CCP, I believe this is because how the media brainwash them China CCP is a devil. I was surprised that some of them even only have the impression of the 80s period of China. Not everyone willing to travel to other places even their "own country".
      The time they will tell you what they think is after you have a long talk with them during eating and drinking, this is how Chinese deal and interact if you want to know what's their drinking. If a Chinese willing to have a meal or drink with you that's mean they started to include you in their circle...

      The main reason China is so successful & combined today is due solely to her excellent leadership under the Communist Party. I lived in Taipei for almost a year (in those days) under KMT, it's a mess, a shithole. China, without CPC, would never have made so much progress today, especially lifting almost a billion people out of poverty, that is totally impressive, unprecedented because this has NEVER happened in any country in the world including democratic countries where people get to vote & look at them. Oh, look at the homeless in the USA. How can your leaders look away and do nothing? Any elected government anywhere in the world, who did nothing abt growing hunger & homelessness is totally heartless.

      I doubt if you live in Germany.
      Here is a part of an interview with Cia Xia, who was expelled from the Communist party and now lives outside China.. (unlike you)
      She says later in the interview that this is how around 70% of the CCP cadres feel. Don't be caught on the wrong side of history, or it will completely fuck your prospects for the future.
      Q. You said that after changing the constitution to abolish term limits, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) would die a death without a burial. What do you mean by that?
      Cia Xia: China is bound to go through political transformation, toward democracy, political freedom, rule of law and constitutionalism. This is the inevitable trend of modern human political civilisation. China will enter this stage sooner or later.
      Because the CCP has been in power since 1949, they have made many mistakes and even crimes. Between 1959 to 1961, nearly 40 million people starved to death. The anti-rightist movement of 1957 and cultural Revolution hurt almost all Chinese elites and intellectuals. Also the Tiananmen protests in 1989 when the CCP, under the direct order of Deng, used its army to shoot the people. No matter what, this is unacceptable to Chinese people. It is the People's Liberation Army, right? It is the people's country.
      Yet we see corruption within the party and the growing gap between the rich and the poor. In the future, when China transitions to a democracy, all of these will be seen as a the major mistakes or the sins of the CCP.

      @changhenry4648 3 роки тому +6

      Oli, the reason why UK media attack you is very simple, your videos and information is damaging their lies/biased narrative about China. It's more likely those medias are the REAL sponsored ones( sponsored by 5-eyes and CIA and other stack holders).
      For same reason, U.S. attack Huawei telecom equipment for "security issue". Ironically it's because Huawei is the ONLY REAL secure equipment provider(Huawei provide source code to customer for check to prove them safe) , but this damages the U.S. existing monitoring network(for example : the PRISM) that CIA/NSA are operating. Because if a customer switch to Huawei equipment, that area will be no longer transparent to them, and this is a realistic 'hurt' to the U.S. hegemony which is unacceptable for them.

    • @eatmoreburgers5918

      Exactly, that's why the west has realized after all this anti-western narrative from the CCP in the past few decades that the CCP are really bad eggs that need to be taken out of market for quality control. It's funny how you have to come up with all these western conspiracies when we have direct evidence the Barretts are being funded by China. Nice projecting
