Fascinating topic. North and south are very different. I’d add that up north is a bit more wilderness like. Help is further away and harder to come by. Be careful out there.

Very interesting and informative video Coop! Excellent research 👌. I was told years ago from a delta legend (Cooch), if you want to catch more and bigger fish stay in the middle delta!
I'd like to remind the viewers to use extreme caution when exploring new water!!
Thanks for the knowledge and tight lines from SJBM 🎣

Great info, Coop. The Delta is such a puzzle when it comes to locating fish. It’s fascinating to hear the early history of how Bass were introduced. I’m predicting the Delta will be on fire this Spring.

    Steve,
What a great segment. I love this kind of information. Thank you very much.
With all the great information, tips and everything else you have provided over the years I do not even bring a rod with me any more to the Delta. I just park the boat and the Bass jump in, they know they don't stand a chance 🤣🤣.
Thank you so much for everything you contribute to the fishing community!

I have a tip for everyone who wants to fish now during the muddy waters.
The fish are up on the bank in the fast moving waters.
The muddier the stronger the closer.
Live bait worm or minnow no weight you can use a huge swivel for some weight….you will get bit.
Striper sturgeon bass pike catfish too.
If you snag you snag that’s where the fish are.

Way to lay it out. As always good info. I especially liked the info on the introduction of the types of bass into the Delta. As a bass head, any info on the species is a bonus. Thx again.

Hi Steve, DeepV here... great info and insight and it did help to solidify our preference for the middle-south delta. My boat being a Tracker 185 doesn't have the shallow draft like a bass boat so areas like Liberty kind of intimidates me. I've run aground a couple/few times... once when we used to launch from New Hope and work our way along Hog, Beaver, and Sycamore. I even got disoriented in the fog coming down from Paradise (our fav launch) along Disappointment and got stuck in a foot of thick weeds just outside of King...had to pushpole out from the thick vegetation. But beyond those few mishaps, all of our areas from White Slough to Mildred and Frank's have kept us coming back and there's so many areas we have yet to learn in that general radius. I lost my possible double-digit on the Moke just around the corner from B&W so I'm confident there's big fish in the middle and south delta though as I've always said, we're just happy to get fish on the hook! Thanx for another informative vid!!! Later!

Hey Steve, great information. Thanks for sharing. Someday I will get up the nerve to try the shallows in Northern Delta as it is closer to home. For now, still learning Central Delta “neighborhoods”.

Great job, Steve. Nice info, especially the comparisons north vs south in terms of tidal surge and depth differences and their impact on choice of weight. The historical distribution of fish was very interesting but those plants were a very long time ago. I would think (but you would know far better) that the Florida strain LMBs took hold, got acclimated and dispersed a long time ago. And, by the way - who said anything about not being interested in spots and smallies? Ha. Many thanks

Steve, what I would like to know is who holds the most tournaments I think more big fish probably around Frank’s track only because I think Russo‘s marina holds so many tournaments and the fish get relocated. My daughter and granddaughter had a great time at the ISE show thanks for taking time to talk to us. Camo guy.

I only bought clothing and some red tails for my sneaky Pet at the Big Show.
I found a few new lures I liked .. none like the krej lure.
I was a little excited Steve.
And I do get worse before I get better.
I have enjoyed every encounter with you…..you make it easy Coop.

How do I know they swim up to and look at you and slowly swim away.
Not all of them are 10lbs. I do see a lot of big ones, and have landed a really big one In Deep On That Canal.
Way before the golf course was around.
I actually rode motorcycles across that course and made a small jump while construction of the golf course was laid out.
    Good N Great Times.

The fish from the Big Tank at the Big Show?
Do you think at least two of the bass were over 10lbs.
Told you I get excited and could talk all afternoon.

Hey Steve, thanks agree with the video. One other point that I’ve heard that I don’t think you mentioned is that the northern bass are more agreeable to nasty weather, 15:26 changing barometer, storm fronts, etc. do you agree? Did you find out the same in your research?

what's considered a high vs low tide coefficient?

    • @indeeponthedeltawithstevec5997
      @indeeponthedeltawithstevec5997  7 місяців тому

If you check out Tides for fishing app-free- you wil see a dayly tide coefficient. The larger the number the bigger the tide and the more current. The tides revolve around the moon so at full moon you may have a coefficient like 80 or 90. 10 days later it may be 50 or 60. If you are fishing up North with a co. of 80 or 90, the tide will be really ripping. If you are in the south you will still have a strong tide but not as much as you will have up North. Hope that explains it. Good luck.
