they thought they would have an easy pr victory by provoking a stereotypically batshit crazy cult into a gun fight. when reality didn't align with their vision, they got desperate to force a confrontation. when that didn't work, they obliterated the camo davidians so they could try to take out the evidence with them.

Not to mention (if ive heard correctly) regarding the two shotguns that started the Ruby ridge thing. They were in fact created by the father at the request of an undercover ATF agent. An undercover federal agent asked him to make two illegal guns... which is entrapment.

@@sigianwho is wendigoon?
So as a chemist, I have to mention that dichloromethane (methylene chloride, DCM) isn’t that flammable. It will burn, but it needs a decent amount of energy input to get it to burn. I once tested this by putting a couple drops on a microscope slide, tried to light it on fire, and it took some effort. When it does finally start to burn, it burns with a weak, dirty flame. That is at least when it’s a liquid that’s not thoroughly mixed with air. DCM is also very volatile meaning it vaporizes very easily; it has a boiling point of about 40 C (or about 103 F which for a solvent is a very low boiling point), and a very high vapor pressure meaning it readily jumps from the liquid phase to the gas phase. When mixed very thoroughly with air, and in it’s vapor phase it’s probably easier to ignite. However, it’s nothing like ethyl ether (which will easily ignite on a hot surface; it doesn’t even require a spark), or even something like ethanol which is still pretty flammable.
Regardless, I hope DCM has been phased out for aerosolizing tear gases because the main risk of DCM is it’s toxicity. It’s not as toxic as something like cyanides. It’s not even the most toxic solvent that’s still used (that dubious honor goes to tetrachloromethane, aka carbon tetrachloride, or maybe carbon disulfide), but it’s still toxic. Exposure to large quantities can cause serious damage to organs. Oh, and it’s thought to be a possible carcinogen. If its intended use is to be a component of a non-lethal weapon used by police then the solvent should at least be nontoxic, so people aren’t accidentally poisoned by it.
Anyway, I don’t believe the cultists lit the fire themselves. Too many lies from the government to believe anything they say. This is just my input on the solvent used to aerosolize CS since I’ve worked with DCM in the laboratory many, many times as a solvent for reactions, extractions, etc.
Elite comment
how long would it be able to be flammable? it was 6 hours from the time the tear gas went in till the fire, they're almost 100% unrelated imo just due to the fact that there were 6 hours of time between them but I'm aware that it's possible I could be wrong and am willing to accept that if that's the case that's why I ask.
I love how the ATF was worried about their bad publicity due to ruby ridge and wanted to prove why they shouldn’t be disbanded. By then continuing to prove exactly why they should be disbanded.
And they STILL HAVEN'T BEEN. Even with the shady shit they've been doing i the recent years.

I was 12 at the time living on Fort Hood/in Killeen, I remember watching this all happen in school. The moment the building went up in flames all the teachers were either yelling or whispering in shock "No, the kids are still in there!" They were all telling each other "Turn the news on now! They killed the babies!" Most of the classrooms already had the news on because that morning was intense. The fact that the Luby's shooting had only happened 1 and 1/2 years prior, made that happening in Central Texas even more painful. We all thought they would negotiate not blow the compound up.

Thanks for getting this story out there. I grew up outside of Waco and when Wacoans talk about The Siege people don't understand the sheer evil the ATF and FBI did to those people. Koresh had his own issues and maybe he needed to be investigated, but this was an eradication.
No you don't understand the sher evil koresh was
@@sergeantzack1106 that can be a true statement without making my previous one false/incorrect. Koresh was evil, but that didn't justify the murders of those women and children.

Nah, I definitely believe it. I wasn't at Waco nor am I even a Texan, but I believe every bit of it.
They're absolutely evil. In Arizona, albeit far less bloody, they absolutely tried destroying the Viper Militia with lawfare to imprison them for life like Randy Weaver, but even more openly tyrannical.

Child abuse that didn’t even exist mind you. All of these children dead on a lie they knew was as true as WMD’s in Iraq.

These two stories are so ingrained in me as a kid of the 90's. Thanks for this one. Can't wait for the inevitable Ruby Ridge breakdown.
There are other incidents too. But these are among the worst due to the dead kids and psycho snipers and stuff. They're still terrible agencies. The fact that various groups of citizens doing sting operations are at least if not more effective at finding and exposing pedos is pretty telling stuff. Just like the military some people are doing the right thing. But others are in what seems to be a series of very murky good old boys and gals club doing messed up crap and covering for each other because they think they can get away with it.

Glad to know that almost 2 years after you made this video you managed to do the Ruby Ridge one. Now we want another one about the Oklahoma City bombing, I'm not from the U.S. so I don't know about the story.
My family and I went to the memorial for that when I was really little…and honestly just the memories of learning about it traumatize me to this day. The detail that most stuck with me was the fact that a lady who wasn’t even in the building or nearby when the bomb went off, came to help get ppl out. She saved two men iirc, before being crushed by a falling wall.
"The FBI chose to not follow through on their deal because they thought the video would garner public support."

If there's one good thing about the technology of today, with TikTok, Instagram, Twitter, etc, making it so easy to access and share information, it's that I don't think something like this would be as easy to cover up as it was back then. The people trapped in the compound wouldn't have been forced to rely on the people who were out for their blood to communicate with the outside world. They just wanted to explain their side. They knew they hadn't done anything to warrant what was happening to them. I would hope, at least, if something like this happened again, then the people inside could have recorded and uploaded videos to public accounts or to their friends and family, showing everyone what was happening to them. The lack of public knowledge at the time is what allowed the government to completely control the narrative during and after this incident, and it's why so many people today STILL don't know what actually went on there. As absolutely retarded as it sounds, maybe TikTok could have saved them.
@@Shaddiewolf you'd think that but you would be wrong, i vaguely remember about a year ago a guy getting raided or some sort of altercation which ended up in a standoff, he was trying to publicize it on instagram and they blocked his internet after a certain period of time, the account had whiskey in the name but i cant remember it at the moment, whether that situation was justified or not the internet wont save you.
EDIT: whiskeywarrior, sounds like the guy was a dick but the social media thing remains
Sadly, this isn't even really a viable option either. Law enforcement agencies can absolutely black out entire city blocks from internet/wireless data. A lot of local and state law enforcement agencies were doing it during the George Floyd protests and ensuing riots a couple years ago when they weren't able to quell them quickly and evidence of collateral damage/disproportionate application of force was beginning to spill out of the hot zones via the internet. Not that it did them any good since it was ez enough to take videos or pictures and upload afterwards, but in a siege situation you're still pretty much fucked :(

An important part of the story of ruby ridge is that the "shotgun barrels" that Mr. Weaver cut had started off as pipes given to him by undercover atf agents who had hired him to cut them for some construction they claimed to be doing. They then used the fact that the pipes could be turned into shotgun barrels by welding a few other pieces of metal onto them and that the Weavers owned a welder as evidence that he was making short barrelled shotguns.
wtf it is like they were doing an 'Try not be a bad organisation' challenge at extreme easy mode and still failed
To think if the feds got off their asses and did their own undercover work for that skin head compound they would have never had to make a far worse situation to cover it up
