i own a 25 foot boat designed in the late 70´s called "MYRA 25" - the amount of similarities just reminds me of how brilliant a myra is, even though i would pick this one over a myra any day :D
SUCH clever design! I grew up on 27' - 30' sailing cruisers and the amount of room in this boat compared to those is just amazing. And I personally love the OB versus diesel. Not sure it needs 300HP.
Good boat for Folsom Lake. I hear the train a comin’, it’s comin’ round the bend, and I ain’t seen the sunshine since I don’t know when. That Folsom Lake.
10:17 "The R-29 is also trailerable, just like the 27 is, then once you get to the 31 they're not as trailerable because they're going to be a lot wider." The R-29 has the exact same beam as the R-31: 10 feet. Both require an oversize load permit in most states to tow on a trailer. The R-27 is the largest Ranger Tug that can be towed without a permit, because it has an 8'6" beam.
Funny how these are so similar in some ways yet so different to Sargo, Targa and Nord Star. Then even add Axopar and Saxdor into the mix. It's a very interesting area of the market and the competition right now is fantastic for me when I hope to buy one in the next few years...
Just shy of a quarter million! Certainly a nice small power boat but that's the brand new price, right? As far as fuel efficiency goes, . . . I can sail my sailboat, and often I never have to run the 4 hp outboard. So I get infinite gas mileage! : - D
Great for a person and a small dog on excursions. I would prefer twin 150's to a single o/b however. No need for a tender cradle on a 27' outboard IMHO.
Needs a little generator and I’m thinking 300hp is a little under powered. I had a 27 cruiser with a 350 and felt in bad seas I could have used a little more power. Otherwise it’s a sexy boat!
Very narrow sides where you can barely set foot. They should have provided a way to access the fore deck from the cabin. The V berth is way too awkward for a liveaboard. It sure is a nice boat for a weekend trip or a short vacation.
If you don't like the V-berth, you can upsize to the R-29, but that's not a true trailerable; you need an oversize load permit. My brother recently sold his R-29, but he loved it while he had it.
My wife and I have made this part of the Learning the Lines drinking game. Along with a few others like, "protected helm" and "Forward facing nav station" and "galley style kitchen." Forgive the teasing, we love your channel! Also, I've got a couple of mimosas in me as a result of the drinking game. I'll have to post the full rules.
How do you pronounce "boatswain"? How about "Gloucester"? ;-) (However...it's the InTRAcoastal Waterway, not the InTERcoastal Waterway. It runs along the coast, not between the coasts.)
The advantage of an outboard on a vessel this size is that you can work on it or even replace it without having to tear the decks apart. And if you really want to smell diesel fuel, there are diesel outboards nowadays.
Nice boat and I definitely prefer a outboard
Seeing more and more Ranger Tugs doing the Great Loop. Pricey, but well made boats.
Lovely, well equipped pocket cruiser. Gotta love the berth topside!
those Ranger Tugs are really nice
Thanks for posting and sharing. Nice looking boat.
Hr
Glorious little ship- thanks for posting!
Love the Ranger tugs. Too cramped for a live-aboard. But the Ranger 43 is a beaut.

Nice trailer-able boat good for weekends
Stunning boat....I could easily live on this

What an awesome setup...checks a lot of boxes...
Sailboat, motorboat, funeral home
You will be 60 soon too…..
Another 50 gallons of fuel capacity would be nice. Going to the Bahamas would be sketchy if a storm crops up.
It is like a floating RV.
It's like a camper and boat mixed together

Nice looking boat, excellent for nice gentle seas 🌊 price on the high side but that's North American prices.

Great Video...

Nice but you will definitely need adequate side decks when you are locking or docking
is this safe for open waters ( pacific)
Anyone that buys a Ranger Tug should consider upgrading the anchor if anchoring over night . Did you look into construction & Warranty ?

Very nice, but not a quarter mil nice.
Oh heck, look at the Ranger 43.
The 27 is wonderful little boat, don`t mean to belittle it at all.

Can usually buy an annual permit so really not a big deal with the permit.
More shallow water with outboard and less hassles with cold weahter....
Is this a tugboat🤔🤔
"Forward" has two R's in it. It's not "foeword" 😂

Diesel makes a lot more sense from an fuel economy and safety pov...

Nice boat but too pricey! Would also be nice to see this boat with a electric outboard with more solar and water storage.
A 40 mile an hour boat is not a trawler.
It’s a ranger tug
lol
don't address camera with sunglasses on it's rude and disengages the audience ...
You were looking at the boat or his face?
