That's my boat! I paid $125,000 two years ago for this boat's twin. My '97 Carver 405 was beautifully maintained, upgraded & always fresh water - terrific bang for the buck. Comfortably livable for two or three people, we can day cruise with 12+ on board and not feel crowded. Features they missed - three zone HVAC, the salon couch converts to a third bed, and the aft hardtop doubles as a 15' high dive platform. Entertain kids for days! The gas engines are appropriate for inland waters where diesel isn't always available. Realistically, cruise is closer to 10 or 12 knots...top end of 20 if you fear no fuel bill. The tall bridge & salon magnifies the roll, so it's best suitable for protected waters. Great value!
Hello, glad to hear you are happy with your boat as we are looking for something like this turnkey entry level yacht. My wife and I a nearing retirement and looking for a nice way to get out of the cold Northeast and live in the South during the Winter. Being that this is our first view at boating and yachting for that matter we have a ton of questions. What about insurance? From what I have being seeing, you cannot get full coverage because of the age over 20 years in the event the boat is totaled or stolen which our biggest concern. What about yearly maintenance? What is required? Do you feel safe being moored in a marina? Thanks.

The issue with live-aboard especially in Florida is insurance. I looked into a boat like this as a vacation home but insurance and slip fees killed it fast. The cost of the boat was the easy part.
When I got single again I sold my home and bought a 35ft Custom HR Motor Home to live in and travel. I was a cabinet installer for new homes, so I could work around any decent sized city. I loved living in my luxury motor home for 10 years, but if I had it to do all over again I would choose a yacht like this one or even a nice liveaboard sailboat! I spent a large portion of my life traveling and living in various sized RV's, so small homes don't bother me a bit! I loved the freedom to travel that they gave me!
I've been a boat owner for 12 years, three different boats, boats are nothing more than a hole in the water you pour money into and I'm not talking about fuel burn. Wiring, engines, HVAC, propellers, hull cleaning, storage. It is a nonstop money pit, especially older boats, like the one you're describing. On that boat, expect to spend at least $10,000 a year on maintenance and upkeep plus the cost of storage.
@@FalconMidgetyou must not be very handy or maybe just lazy. It won't cost anywhere close to that unless your literally paying someone else to do everything. But what do I know. I've only been living on boats for 30 + years.

This might make a nice great loop boat for a couple. Its high cruising speed and shallow draft would allow for a quick dash across the great lakes section during fair weather. It would burn a lot of fuel but the cost of entry is so low that there would be plenty left in the cruising budget. She is in very nice shape for a 25 yr old boat. Cheers!

The maintenance, the challenges and true cost of owning one . I believe you would definitely get a lot of people that may be interested.
39 celcius there, U.K. rocked by 25 C. today and humid, made a Thai green curry and had to change my clothes lol. So, with a relatively puny lottery win I can buy a yacht to live on... wow!

@Navy1977 @NautiStyles. Time to start the poll on your Saturday morning breakfast segment. One vote for Nauti Coffee. The others were Coffee and Nauti or Coffee with Nauti. 😁
I do like the spotlight on the front of the boat ; i had a 25 ft bayliner and the spot light was a remote operated light but they put it on top of the roof and was almost useless because of the glare it made on the windows and the whole boat. So having it at the bow is a must!
I love this boat! I have been searching for my 1st live aboard, and this checks off all the essentials, including the great price point! Thank you for sharing!😊
This is a great affordable live-aboard. Very nice layout. Looks easy to maintain - no teak to care for. I would replace some of the kitchen drawers with a small dishwasher.
Wow that is a really nice boat. My wife and I just bought a house in Cape Coral on the canal and are next step in some months is we want a boat to travel around slowly. We've been leaning more towards a princess or an azimut, maybe we need to think about something like this for a starter. Great video loved it.
I have always really liked Carvers. I was actually looking at some at one point when I thought I might want to do a live aboard. They are really well laid out for a smaller vessel.
It beggers belief how much storage a good yacht designer can squeeze into such a small hull. If you could find a reasonably priced berth the it would be much cheaper than an apartment. Lovely little home on the water. 😊
My cursory search of liveaboard dock space in Miami... or options to dock offshore and pull into a harbor with a dinghy... I could buy the boat, but then where will I keep it, where will I park a car in Miami so I can get around? I would love to buy it, actually very interested, but I'm not spending years on a waiting list or paying $4,000/month for a dock.
I love it, but with my senior dogs, I need a bigger aft deck for them to get out of water on (would attach a floating doggie stair) and to wash them on.

a wise man once said "there is nothing more expensive than a cheap boat"
The issue with live-aboard especially in Florida is insurance. I looked into a boat like this as a vacation home but insurance and slip fees killed it fast. The cost of the boat was the easy part.
All insurance in Florida is crazy expensive!
Shhh. They don’t want you to know that part.
@@FalconMidgetyou must not be very handy or maybe just lazy. It won't cost anywhere close to that unless your literally paying someone else to do everything. But what do I know. I've only been living on boats for 30 + years.
@@FalconMidget 😂😂😂
Thats less than a lot of people pay in property tax every year.
@@enigma9789 a fool and his money soon partways… That older Boat is a hole in the water you're gonna dump money in. Plus, unless you have waterfront, you're gonna be paying $500 a month to store it there at 6000 a year there's your property tax.
Cheers!
Agreed
Why would you want to “dash” through the Great Lakes? If you’re trying to experience the country, the Great Lakes are essential and very enjoyable…Take your time…
That built in coffee machine is the coolest part of thr boat 😂
Jokes aside, I didn't know this style/layout of boat existed until I saw yours a lonngg time ago. If I ever find me a sugar momma or win the lotto, this is the style of boat that best fits how i THINK i would use a boat that size
Fingers crossed for you!! 🤣🤪🤞
@@NautiStyles you know any 30 something year old single female yacht owners? Hook a brother up LOL
@@pastaalalamborghinimight be better switching teams?!?🤷🏼♂️
@@jonredd650 that would definitely increase my odds of a sugar partner but alas I'm straight
Me too but I wasn't sure how bad you wanted that yacht!😂😂😂
It's 2024, and I'd buy that 26 year old yacht. That's a really nice boat. So much room and so much storage.
Never, ever forget to run the ventilator before starting those gasoline 454's.
You will only forget once
Absolutely important !
Unless your launching it but do it anyway
Yes, Ventelate like Crazy! I had a pair of these Engines in a House boat Years ago. I had turned mine into 10.5:1 Compression ratio With Fuel injection. 350 h.p. a piece. I had 50wt.Oil in them with the Best Additive's l could Find. The people l Sold the Boat to Still own that Rig with 5000hrs. On each Engine and Still on the Water in Minnesota. Lk.Mtka. 48ft. ChrisCraft House Boat. 1984 model. I could haul 100 people and Party.
One of my best friends worked at Carver, he was one of the best carpenters I have known and always said that Carvers were well built for the money. Sadly the place shut down.
I shall name it stubby bob
They packed a good bit into 40 feet🎉🎉
Stubby Bob 🤣🤪 great name!
🙌🙌🙌
I really enjoy your videos, they are very informative and helpful. I think that perhaps you may want to have a class on exactly what it takes to liveaboard a yacht . The maintenance, the challenges and true cost of owning one . I believe you would definitely get a lot of people that may be interested.
Saturdays are my favourite,,because of your work. Thanks.
Aww thanks for the kind words David! Enjoy the tour!! 🙏🏻💙⚓️
I have a nice pond on my farm.. Would be better than a RV for folks dropping by!!
I love the size of that. Definitely a great live aboard
Glad you loved this one! Thanks for sharing!
Wow! She’s amazing! Stunning even. The boat is cute as well.😂😉
Think the song “rock the boat”
You are one lucky man kind sir
I could easily see my husband and me retiring on that lovely yacht! I don’t know that we would ever move it, but I would love living on the water! 😊
And I'm not talking about the boat! She's fire!🥰🥰🥰
😂
You're joking, right?
Thanks for the showing of the yacht.Congratulations to the lady, she is in great shape.
This boat sold the day after this was posted according to the broker ! 👍
That's awesome! It was really cute!
39 celcius there, U.K. rocked by 25 C. today and humid, made a Thai green curry and had to change my clothes lol. So, with a relatively puny lottery win I can buy a yacht to live on... wow!
That’s right Rich!
Love you guys, TVs...... They are a thing of the past mostly. Everyone has an ipad. Unless you are going to have a huge screen, TVs are useless. My computer screen is 32" for gods sake...lol I'd put a projection screen TV there if it was absolutely needed. I'm 62, only old people would need a TV on a boat.
lol how old is old lol
@@NautiStyles well. People who identify as boomers. :). Old mentality.
@@NautiStyles by the way, its 80 at my house 8 miles from the beach and 78 in Huntington beach, gonna ride the bicycle, enjoy florida!!!
This boat has fantastic use of space imo. More than most boats I see. What a great live aboard this would be !!!
Comment number two ,,, amazing,,,, love Saturday breakfast with Nautistyles,,,, thanks
Enjoy your breakfast!! 🤪🤪🙏🏻
So... Would it be Coffee and Nauti... Coffee with Nauti or Nauti Coffee?
@Navy1977 @NautiStyles. Time to start the poll on your Saturday morning breakfast segment. One vote for Nauti Coffee. The others were Coffee and Nauti or Coffee with Nauti. 😁
I do like the spotlight on the front of the boat ; i had a 25 ft bayliner and the spot light was a remote operated light but they put it on top of the roof and was almost useless because of the glare it made on the windows and the whole boat. So having it at the bow is a must!
but those docking fees really add up when the marina or dock slip also want your boat insured.
I love this boat! I have been searching for my 1st live aboard, and this checks off all the essentials, including the great price point! Thank you for sharing!😊
Happy Saturday!
Welcome back!! 🙏🏻💙⚓️
This is a great affordable live-aboard. Very nice layout. Looks easy to maintain - no teak to care for. I would replace some of the kitchen drawers with a small dishwasher.
Great idea! Could always use a dishwasher 🤪⚓️💙
The two happiest days of your life. The day you buy a boat and the day you get rid of boat.
So true.
What about all the days you have your family and friends enjoying on the boat?
And the only reason you're happy to sell the boat is because you are buying a bigger newer one!!!
You have so much wisdom 😅. I suspect you are family with the Greek goddess Minerva.
😅😅😅😅
Had a Carver 356 with twin gas engines never again. Insane to work on.
Old school coffee maker??? Are you kidding me??? Evidently, you're not familiar with the PERCOLATOR... 😂😂😂
🤣🤣🤣
A lake neighbor has one. I would have thought it was a $500,000 boat. Surprised at the price.
When I first found you guys, weren’t you living on a boat very close to the same as this carver
Yep!! You're one of the OG Nauti People!! 🙏🏻💙⚓️🤪
@@NautiStyles I have a boat for sale. I would love for you to show it. It’s the 2016 see Ray 510 Sundancer.
Wow that is a really nice boat. My wife and I just bought a house in Cape Coral on the canal and are next step in some months is we want a boat to travel around slowly. We've been leaning more towards a princess or an azimut, maybe we need to think about something like this for a starter. Great video loved it.
Woot Woot ! Bridge Clearance in the specs ! =) =) And a nice boat too, even for someone my size.
😉🙏💙
I have always really liked Carvers. I was actually looking at some at one point when I thought I might want to do a live aboard. They are really well laid out for a smaller vessel.
Agreed
No comment, just support.
Thanks for supporting! We appreciate you!! 🙏🏻💙⚓️
It beggers belief how much storage a good yacht designer can squeeze into such a small hull. If you could find a reasonably priced berth the it would be much cheaper than an apartment. Lovely little home on the water. 😊
@0:07 What's the difference between "price point" and price?
It's crap salesperson phrasing to suggest there's a theoretical standard amount/boat that ppl are looking for. ie "the £250k 6-berth boat price point"
These two do a great job how they walk around the boat you know where your at at all times
Love it but really can’t wait to see your new yacht!
Us too 😅🤪 coming soon!! 🤞⚓️💙
Boat maintenance is no joke. Carver makes a nice vessel
Would this make a great Liveaboard for you?👇 Also, check out the new Boat Tour series we just launched on @@NautiGuys channel
@@NautiStyles barely because if I get the itch to change my backyard solar, sails, biger cold storage, dishwasher, & washerdryer are almost a must! Price point fair for what you get so you could spend money to up grade but I need bigger for possible bluewater. Going to check guys too 👍. 2 feet a year may have been more sailboats? If you recall me. 😁
This is a super cute quality yacht! Can't beat that price tag! ❤
Great value yacht. I was expecting much less space for this kind of money. But it is heaven for a young couple who wants to explore
You guys did an amazing job showing us this excellent jacht
Yes I'd definitely live on this boat. BUT you never said anything about A fresh water maker. That's important. And yes you need A washer and dryer. ALWAYS love your shows. YOU TO make A perfect couple. Can't wait to see your new SHIP.
Awww thank you for the kind words - we can’t wait either 😉
Always enjoy an aft cabin cruiser. This one was laid out nicely.
Glad you enjoyed it
Great video. Really makes people feel like buying this yacht.
Glad you liked this one!! See you next weekend!! 🙌💙⚓️
Great episode as always, NautiStyle team! Thanks for sharing! Keep those cameras rolling and stay safe! 👍👍
Thanks! Will do! We love you 💙
@@NautiStyles 👍👍
Great price with 2 new engines!
(Strange the dock has no electricity going to it)
Thank you NautiStyle for the showing
Thanks for watching!
😁Our shore power cord was not long enough to reach the pedestal!
Great review. It's a lovely vessel. The gasoline is a bit sad, but I guess the petrol option is of its time. Owners need to remember to vent. Every few months, somebody-often a newbie-makes a mistake. Very attractive boat... thanks again team...
Thanks guys, yet another great review! Victoria, just a couple of notes on pronunciation in case you'd like to tune up a bit:
1) Series is pronounced 'Sear-eaz' not 'Sear-e-ez'
2) Oven is pronounced 'uh-vin' not 'Oh-vin'
3) You welcome someone 'aboard' a boat, (welcome aboard) not 'onboard' (welcome onboard)
I hope this is useful, not intended to be insulting. You guys do a great job asking us for help identifying parts of the boat that you are not familiar with so I thought you'd be open to the above help too!
Keep up the great work!
Of all the things that they do this is the most... well I have begun to believe they do it on purpose now. Nothing wrong, this a quirky thing. And yes they do the best boat reviews evah!!!
I like the aft cabin layout of the Carver for sure. Very open on the main living area. And it’s good to go size-wise on the Trent Severn waterway up here in Ontario. Though there might be tears at the gas pump…😄
The brand I know and love. Well constructed. Lots of thoughtful touches and good liveaboard features.
🙏💙👌🏼
WOW! There is a lot of room on this boat, I could easily live on that. NICE! 😎
Hey there, since you are touring more affordable Yachts, I was wondering do you have any plans to tour the Aventura MY 50 anytime soon? I'm very interested in that model. Even brand new it's a lot more affordable than most Power Cats and it's even won awards. I've seen a few different tours of the yacht but they are not Nautistyles! Long time fan, love the channel.
Noted! Thanks for sharing! We'll try to make it happen!
SUPER NICE!! I love it! You guys did perfect with your descriptions. And your tan, my dear, stunning.
My wife and I already have a Carver in Canada.
Since American yachts are thousands cheaper.
It looks like we'll purchase out of the States and sail it North.
A 405 just up here for 268k cdn. It wasn't near as nice as this vessel and needed a whole refit.
Hi Guys! My husband and I really enjoy your tours of affordable boats❤
Awwww sooo glad to hear - we are happy to have you here with us!
Looked to be aboat in great shape with the only drawbacks being the shower and space in the bow. Thanks for sharing
Thank you so much for watching!
Very nice Carver for the age. It will make some kids a wonderful starter.
Most definitely!! 🙌
I love this Liveaboard series that you do. It is so exciting to see the opportunities. Thank you so much!
Glad you enjoy it! Thank you so much for watching!
Not a bad live aboard at a great price point. No dishwasher hurts. Gasoline engines are a knock. Washer dryer could be added. Nice layout for her size.
Yesss 🙏💙
That is a nice yacht, quite spacious throughout, I love the owners cabin. I could definitely live on board this especially in Florida. Great tour thank you.
We agree!
