I'm not even a motorcycle fan, but Joey Dunlop was unique. He went to the very top of his sport but remained as humble as he was when it all began. Every year he drove to Romanian orphanages with a van load of food and other humanitarian aid. He never even publicised this. One worker said her memory of him was eating corn beef and baked beans with the orphans. He was a reluctant super star.
@@steakmeal74 nah, Michael is good and I know he's the most successful TT rider ever, but he isn't on par with Joey. For instance I can't see Michael driving to war torn countries on his own to deliver aid, as Joey did.
I was truly honoured and blessed to witness The Great Joey Dunlop Win many times at the TT... Everyone loved him... Tge entire island was always behind Joey to WIN... Rivers of tears when he passed. Your legacy lives on Joey & your family’s contribution to the sport is magnificent. All heroes.. God speed to the All Star Dynasty of the Dunlop team... We Thankyou all so much...
Not a very good up load thats for sure but and a big but anyone that takes the time to give Joey time is ok with me !!This man deserves every second every minute every hour every day every week every month every year and should never be forgoten for what he is/was !! If only we had a few more like him how good this world would be and how much better sport would be R.I.P. Mr Dunlop you are without doubt one of the best if not the best sports person ever to have been !! Its one thing to be good at what you do its another to be a bloody good person to boot !! Thanks for sharing this and reminding us all what we are missing !!!!!!!!!!!!
Joey should have been given a ride on a top Grand Prix motorcycle team. He could have been champion- he would have given people like Roberts, Sheene, Uncini and Mamola a run for their money.
What a lovely man a true gentleman, road racing comes at a very high price at times but what an amazing sport full of wonderful people rip to all the fallen riders

Some very old footage recorded off the tv before mainstream camera phones existed! Glad you enjoyed it though
