I think my favorite memory of playing Death Stranding was when I was trekking through the snowy mountain area, fully loaded and wading through snow, and other players had developed a zipline netowrk right where I needed to go which saved me a good 30 mins of walking
I hate this game overall, for a multitude of reasons (none of which involve Monster Energy,) but the cooperative element is genuinely very cool, I like it a lot. It's not like the concept is a completely original innovation Kojima pioneered or anything, but the implementation and execution of it is very good.
The "NotLikeThis" into the round of applause when its revealed the Monster Energy cans are part of the generated safehouse bs thing at 48:28 cracks me up every time

The ONE thing I liked in terms of writing: The divorce. That really doesn't happen enough in fiction. Every love story has a happy ending, they never have any problems. I like that despite the big emotional climax, they end up not working out. That feels pretty real.
I love how the horror and tension of the gamd suddenly spikes the moment they take BB away from you. Really shows just how important his is to you because the late game would be impossible without him.
"The only reason this in here is for the pun" Nah I think it's also in there for another unsubtle metaphor about social connections, with Sam being very against social interactions at the start the fact that the thing that connects him to other people is a literal handcuff is pretty on the nose I think.
You know, watching this, I’m struck by the idea of a much more fun game about mail delivery, focused on inventory management and route planning. You have a van and some automation, but it can’t do certain things, like dirt roads, so you have to get out and back in a timely manner in rural areas. Maybe a sense of humor too, like an auto-sort button on the van with a sticky note that says “never use this” because you basically have to unload and reload the entire van at every stop if you do.

The game honestly explained MULEs horrifically. I"m 40 hours in right now, and the later ones are actual bona fide terrorists, but the earlier ones literally could have just been called "people who steal cargo to survive in the post apocalyptic wasteland" aka raiders or whatever. The whole "cargo cult high" thing is just another weird construction by Kojima that makes zero logical sense.

I get the vibe he's here to enjoy the ride, not own it. Hollow knight kinda doesn't allow for this goofy sandbox style of play. You're forced to either take the game seriously and beat your enemies or you just die and don't get to play. But this game literally has taking a piss as a game play feature.
You'll understand this game more if you've ever worked in customer service, especially some form of delivery. Much of the game is a surrealistic commentary on the insatiable needs/wants of consumers and the underlying scaffolding that caters to those from an enforced personal perspective.
That bit at 36:00 where you just tried waltzing up a vertical metal wall with about 60 packages.... Ahh, Chef's kiss!! Lol. This game is only good when somebody else is playing it!
I mean how much you enjoy this game depends a lot how yoy play it. Like when I delivered the nuke, I just ran straight there, didn't carry too much and used speed skeleton to jump over the big cracks. Took like 2 minutes. This guy drives a truck straight into the cracks and then complains. Idk man.
It's funnier because the insanity makes sense in context. Even if comedy that wasn't the goal, just thinking about the fact that someone tried to make it make sense is funny.
In hindsight, death stranding was a pretty solid game, people just didn't like it because it was new. And like everything new, it takes time and the right mindset to appreciate it. It's like learning to walk all over again. Here's hoping death stranding 2 is appreciated for its greatness from day one.
That's just being close minded about other people's perspectives. I enjoyed some aspects of the gameplay, but the story telling was awful. I didn't think much of the story, but i truly believe the story telling in death stranding is the worst I've ever seen in a game, which ultimately left me disliking the game.

I played the whole game on the hardest difficulty, never really thought things where too hard but I agree the giant higgs/Amalie B.T. fight on hard just has WAY too much hp. that fight took me like 40 minutes.
The "I brought you a metaphor" line made me cry with laughter. This game was truly a wild ride.

To this day I still trying to one trip everything.
You'll understand this game more if you've ever worked in customer service, especially some form of delivery. Much of the game is a surrealistic commentary on the insatiable needs/wants of consumers and the underlying scaffolding that caters to those from an enforced personal perspective.

I mean how much you enjoy this game depends a lot how yoy play it. Like when I delivered the nuke, I just ran straight there, didn't carry too much and used speed skeleton to jump over the big cracks. Took like 2 minutes. This guy drives a truck straight into the cracks and then complains. Idk man.

I feel like this 3 hour supercut version is more than enough of this game.
It's funnier because the insanity makes sense in context. Even if comedy that wasn't the goal, just thinking about the fact that someone tried to make it make sense is funny.

I love this game. It’s so simultaneously fucking funny as shit and also really weird and cool.
In hindsight, death stranding was a pretty solid game, people just didn't like it because it was new. And like everything new, it takes time and the right mindset to appreciate it. It's like learning to walk all over again. Here's hoping death stranding 2 is appreciated for its greatness from day one.
That's just being close minded about other people's perspectives.
I enjoyed some aspects of the gameplay, but the story telling was awful. I didn't think much of the story, but i truly believe the story telling in death stranding is the worst I've ever seen in a game, which ultimately left me disliking the game.

1:33:30 that whole thing is his fault for not paying attention to what the game tells you for how to handle water. Holding both triggers and standing still would have prevented so many of those river incidents.
I played the whole game on the hardest difficulty, never really thought things where too hard but I agree the giant higgs/Amalie B.T. fight on hard just has WAY too much hp.
that fight took me like 40 minutes.
