Awesome video! I think it really came down to a leadership difference too. Kawaii was strong a leader, he led with compassion, he led with understanding, he led by example, he demanded the ball, he suffocated the other team's offense, and he was really a one-man team. But Pop is the established dominant leader on San Antonio and he leads through discipline, responsibility, and tough love; he believes you should sacrifice your fame for the team, sacrifices your body for the organization, sacrifice your good shot for his great shot, move the ball, and always defer to his decision. Kawaii and Pop are polar opposite leaders, doomed to clash, and the crack in their flawless illusion of harmony was the debate about Kawaii's return from injury. It's the perfect place for the illusion to break as the leadership clash is front and center but the joy of winning had been subtracted.

I've been studying skip since cold pizza. The thing about him is he takes a stance, then *sticks to it no matter what* . He decided early on that lebron is "lebrick", westbrook is "westbrick", tebow is the goat, aaron rodgers will never be brett favre, lonzo will be the goat, and so on. He knows he's on tv every day and feels that he must remain consistant. Once you recognize this it becomes fun to watch, because you can totally predict his predictions.

I don’t know much about Pop, Kawhi, or anybody else in the NBA for that matter. But trying to make out Pop is a like a cult leader is a bit much. Like yeah sure go ahead and speculate, but I’m not buying this extreme take, to me it’s just as ridiculous as any assumption about Kawhi’s nature ever could be.
I’ll just say that Pop called Kawhi the best player in the league just about 1.5 years ago. Kawhi has never publicly spoken shit about Pop, not even slightly. Spurs fans like myself always thought of Kawhi as a top player, his own man, an individual who deserved all the good deals that might come with it. He still is. There are so many factors that lead to his public image, but it frustrates me when you attempt to bring it all back to Pop as if you have some insider knowledge of his motives as some power hungry tyrant. You make good videos, but as far as I can tell, you don’t.
Spurs lost out with Kawhi as soon as he asked for a trade, simple as that. Don’t need to come back and check up on it, he’s fucking Kawhi, no shit we’re in a worse spot now.
But this video peddles a specious argument and drags Pop’s name through the mud when imo it doesn’t present anywhere near convincing enough grounds to do so.
