Great video. The only thing forgotten part on this procedure its a VVT camshaft wheels timming tool installation to stop them from turning while torque up the crank bolt.
How I wish I had this video on hand when my timing belt was replaced. I have the ‘misfire’ issue you mentioned at the very end of the video. Do you have a possible ‘repair’ video on this misfire issue? Thank you for a great, clearly explained detailed video.
If the engine misfire is caused by timing being out of sync, you need to start the procedure again. Lock the crankshaft, lock the camshafts, and check the alignment of the front crank pulley. Regards
Need a answer please. When tightening the crankshaft pulley bolt after 5he torque converter has been installed are the 90 degree stages at the output shaft of 5he torque converter or 90 degree of the input shaft (ratchet end)? Thankyou
So when these are done in the car the flywheel has to be locked where the starter motor was. I thought this was because the timing pin wouldn't be able to stand the massive torque from the front pulley fitment???
Hi. Locking the flywheel is helping to undone the crankshaft pulley bolt. The locking pin is designed to hold the counterweight when torquing up the crank pulley.

one question, I have a 1.0 ecoboost 155 mhev built in 2023, in some forums says that this mhev engines have timing chain and not wet belt, is that true? thanks
Considering the cost of changing a wet timing belt I would swerve away from any car that has this rubber wet belt design. If any thing it should be a chain belt that does no degrade like rubber in oil
In the real world, you would also change the oil pump drive belt, clean the oil pick up and change the water pump This is a really poor design, if you have one, sell it and buy Japanese, Toyota or Mazda Ford etc are designed by accountants these days, the crankshaft pulley on the ecoboost isn’t even keyed, to save a $ or 2
Just to give people an idea of how messed up the timing belt/oil pump job is in the United States. 1 dealership quoted ne $2700. Another has no idea what I'm talking about. 2 independent shops declined the work.
Hi I havent got a torque converter. Do I multiply by 5? Can someone help 60x5 Nm 90 degree is 60 Nm then multiply by 5 equals 300Nm So without torque converter 300 Nm 300Nm 300Nm 300Nm 300Nm 300Nm

Thanks for the video, now i can install new engine for Volvo in future after college and driving school👌
You are welcome.
Thank you. A brilliant no nonsense informative video 👍👍
Thanks
I would like you to explain how to synchronize the control pulleys, and also how to tighten them without them getting out of sync.
If you lock the flywheel, and front v-belt pulley and also use a new friction washer, everything should stay in place while torquing up.

5 times 90* through 1:5 torque converter gives you 90* turn on the crankshaft pulley bolt.

@@the-senior-tech ha yes locking pin can't hold the crank for when turning in reverse. Makes sense thank you
Very nice job 👍👍👍👍
Thank you
Muchas gracias, en mi país no había mucha información de este motor.

Nice idea with cover bolts, will you show how to install this cover on car?
Yes, I should have more Ecobosts for timing belt so I will do some videos.

Yes, you need to use a friction washer to stop the belt pulley from slipping.
One doubt... is it normal in ecoboost 1.0 that amount of oil exhalation? It looks like many parts of the engine have oil moisture.
No, it is not normal. Look around for an oil leak.
Hello, do the barcode surface on both camshafts need to be 100% straight? I have maybe 1 or 2 mm under the ruler.
Hi, could you measure the TDC crank locking pin? I need exact dimensions and i cant seem to find them anywhere..
Thanks :)
Just more specialized tools to keep things from moving!
Can i do this job without torque multiplier?
Yes, you need a long and strong bar.
i just did mine exactly the same but it starts up few a few seconds then gets really lumpy and cuts out.
Recheck the timing again, and make sure the v-belt pulley is in the right position, as there is a magnetic ring for the CKP sensor.

Hi. Yes, mhev 1.0 ecoboost has chain.
@the-senior-tech many thanks!
Why is my crank pulley moving when torqueing the bolt,do i need to have the locking pin in place.
Yes, you need to pin it and use a new friction washer
Found the problem,Crankshaft pulley washer and crank pulley was wet with oil, cleaned with brake cleaner and torqued the correct way.
@@thyssmith1 Very good
Anyone who is attempting this in the future, they sell chain conversion kits now
Have not seen it yet. Would you provide any links?
Does that crank pulley have position sir maybe I missed that 1❤
Yes, it does.
Hi, is it ok to reuse the crank bolt and washer ?
Ive just fitted a new and have to repeat the procedure as the pulley moved thanks
Yes, you can use it again.

Do you have to change the crankshaft oil seal? And if so how can I do that without that tool to fit it?
Yes, replacing the front crankshaft seal is necessary. You can use a similar size socket.
Great video
Thanks
Need answer please, is it ok to try two turn of crank ahaft before putting crank pully and cover on? just to check its in order.
The timing bottom pulley is floating. Without torquing it up along with the front belt pulley you want be able to turn the belt and cams.

I always replace oil pump drive belt and clean the oil pick up.
You missed cleaning out the oil pickup gauze filter, the cause of problems with the ecoboost
It has been cleaned ;-) Thanks
what about the vvt camshafts? Is this step even needed?
I never used that tool, to be honest with you ;-)

You are right. It is difficult to find a decent garage to do the job like that.

Is the lower oil pressure belt changed at same time

Hi I havent got a torque converter. Do I multiply by 5? Can someone help

90 degree is 60 Nm then multiply by 5 equals 300Nm
So without torque converter
300 Nm

300Nm
300Nm
If you do not have the converter than do 300Nm + 90°
A. What about locking the cam shaft VVT mechanisms.
B. What ridiculously over complicated procedures and special tools for a service procedure.
If I don't remove VCT pulleys I only lock the camshaft.
Per cambiare una semplice cinghia si deve smontare mezzo motore 😢
Yes, you are right. It is a quite big job to replace a little timing belt. Powered by Ford ;-)

Didnt show how to set up the vvt
Only lock the camshafts.
That's not enough if you need to change a cam pulley
Yes, you right. I do not cover pulley replacemnt in this video. Another tool 303-1606 is needed.
What about the bottom belt ?
I always fit a new one.
IT was lot easier in 1980s change a cambelt in less than 30mins .

You have to use a new crankshaft-screw!!!
Yes
all to avoid adding a key, WTH
