    KOReader is the best thing that happened to Kobo. Its so fast and reads all format well. Way better than the native kobo OS. I am so impressed with KOReader.

      I think one of the best things about KOReader is that it's cross platform. I use a Paperwhite yet we both use the same interface and benefit from same new features. Its PDF support is miles ahead of any consumer ebook reader's default software.

      Totally agree! The KOReader team is very responsive. If you find a bug in the software, they can fix it in one day or two.

      does koreader support sync, so if I read on another device it saves my position

    I really like this software. I tried Plato too, and can't decided between Koreader and Plato.

    still worth to buy one today? Onyx nova looks promising but I'm not sure how good their software is gonna be.

    That sealed the deal for me, onyx products are large but quite expensive and everybody is suffering from mediocre quality of their devices.
    8inch is not the greatest for reading full pages of pdf but the software features of Koreader will make it a bit easier for you

    Make a test of KOReader on the Kobo Aura One against the Sony DPT-RP1.

    What is your experience with battery time and koreader? I bought myself an Auro One last week and when using Koreader sometimes the battery dropped rapidly. Wifi, syncing and backlight was all disabled. Have not seen the problem when doing a full reset and getting rid of koreader.

      Haven't had an issue so far. Make sure you have the latest Kobo software installed because that's a common problem anyway.

    This is an excellent application, but unfortunately on the latest Kobo firmware (to date), the installation of the KOreader kills wi-fi and the ability to go online is lost.

    So does the Onyx N96 still hold the PDF reader crown or does this combo topple that?
    If you have the time to ponder this that would also be much apreciated:
    I'm looking for an ereader right now and I want it to read PDFs nicely, read most ebook formats, and be somewhat hackable for web technology.
    The reMarkable seems to have most of the package I want but the software might be locked down tight.
    The Onyx seems cheapealy and unfinished. (maybe I'm getting the wrong impression)
    The Kobo A1 has a bunch of features I like for reading but the PDF support was making me leery.

      KOReader is nice but it's far from the best PDF reader and it certainly doesn't help make the screen bigger. The 7.8" screen is still too small for optimum PDF reading. It's alright in landscape but it's not a whole lot different than a 6-inch model. Now that I've got 13.3" Sony DPT-RP1 there really is no comparison. Large screens for PDF all the way or you might as well just get a tablet.

    When you do manual crop, does it lock it for next pages or do we have to manually crop all pages seperately?

      It stays zoomed in but it seems to vary from page to page. Some pages seem more zoomed in than others.

    I often have to deal with documents that have been scanned and then sent as pdf. How does the app work for those kinds of documents? I understand that it won't have the ability to change font size and all that, but what about highlighting, is there a 'freestyle' option for that?

    • @Guessers12
      @Guessers12 5 років тому +1

      There does not seem to be a freestyle option. It usually allows highlighting of the actual text in a document. However, the OCR feature might help with it, but it does not seem as good as a proper book or document.

      Thank you very much, I installed the KOreader on my A1, I just had to use the Nightly build instead of the Stable version. This KOreader is more efficient at reading PDF than the original Kobo software, no battery drain problems, and about issues I would mention the image size un Epubs, they show small in spite of the high resolution of each image. just that, thanks again.

    Hi, I have a lot of difficulty installing KOreader on Kobo Libra. I tried to follow the instruction on this site: www.mobileread.com/forums/showthread.php?t=314220, but I just don't understand. I donwloaded on my Mac, but from there, I don't know what to do. I'd appreciate if if you could help me. I have no knowledge of computer terms. (ex: extract, root directly, etc) and am non English speaker. Thank you.

    can I use the original Kobo OS and the KOreader at the same time?

    • @TheeBookReader
      @TheeBookReader  7 років тому +4

      KOReader is an add-on application so it doesn't affect the regular Kobo OS at all.

      Yeah, highlighting works but there are no notes of any kind.
