How Damned Lucky we have been, to have lived & listened to all this incredible music! I remember it all! From the early 50s, Elvis, Jerry Lee, Buddy Holly, throughout the 60s & 70s. The years rolled by, more good music and it is still going on.
As far as I can remember, on the album it said for each song "written by The Traveling Wilburys". I don't think there was any individual credit, apart from Jeff Lynne and George Harrison as producers (under their Wilbury pseudonyms). My guess though is the lead vocalist on each song was probably the lyricist, and the lyrics in Tweeter And The Monkey Man are very Dylan-like, so I'd feel pretty strongly that he wrote it. It's only my guess though, and I stand corrected.
What a treat to hear really great pop musicians like these. Makes you want to cry when you hear the rubbish around today. Long live the Wilbury legend.
This song deserves a billion views. Its the first time listening to this song and am so glad to have found it. Bob Dylan and the rest of Travelling Wilbury gang, feel blessed to be listening to their songs. It’s what music sounds like.
Sadly only two still remain.....the way this clip pays homage to the incredible Orbos with his guitar on the rocking chair and his photo in the frame really show the camaraderie between these incredible musicians.
Bob dylan sang most of the song. I can't imagine what it would be to have Jeff lynn and george harrisson and all the rest in the same room playing. I loved the Travelling Woolbury's. It's all right. Even if the sun don't shine. We're going to the end of the line. You don't have to be ashamed of the car you drive at the end of the line. I'm just happy to be alive.
LOVED them from the time I bought the LP back in the 80ies!!! Listened to it until today - for 40 years!!! NEVER gets old!!! Guess it's something to do with the production from Jeff Lyne (ELO) and the greatness of his fellow musicians!!!
This is a Group of legends , shame ,Roy, George and Tom are no longer here. We will Never see the likes of these guys ever again ,mores the Pity !! Godspeed Roy ,George and Tom Fly High hopefully you'll find your Purple Haze !
23 years old from Scotland. My grandad used to play Bob Dylan when I was younger. Love this song and it will get passed down to generations 🎵 timeless classic
Incredible song Just recently listened to both albums from the Travelling Wilburys and I absolutely loved them What brilliant song writers and musicians They are now my all time favourite band Can’t stop playing tweeter and the monkey man❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
This is a fantastic treat to see this video! Don't find this much talent in a group playing just for themselves these days. So happy to have recorded video & audio of these 5 guys together!!
Bob and his mates really got something very special here with this haunting, film noir-ish song! Love the phrasing, pacing, lyrical content and the drama of this song!
@@buckchile614 Over and over in my long life I've heard people say that Dylan can't sing and then I hear him mesmerize us with a song like this one and I don't even argue with those people now. Their loss if they don't hear what we hear--and what the best in rock and roll have always heard in his voice and words.
This song has always reminded me of one of my other favorite Dylan tunes: Black Diamond Bay. The narrative is just so intertwined and interesting. Only Dylan can make something so convoluted so much fun to listen to.
This is astonishing. There is such a relaxed atmosphere, they seem as though they went to middle school together and have known each other all along. Peace & Psilocybin
Tom asked Roy for his autograph when they were first meeting.. I think that’s hilarious… but also I think Tom was serious .. he should be.. Roy is the shit
Just in case there are no Springsteen fans watching this, the lyrics "name drop" the tittles of 8 Bruce Springsteen songs and the story takes place in New Jersey. That is not an accident or a coincidence, but more of an inside joke.
Yep, because Springsteen would rather smoke B Hussein O's pole and talk downnthe peoppe amd nation that gave him indescribable fame and fortune. A real tool ofnthe establishment. I wonder if the Boss swallows? I heard Big Mike does...
Its pretty mean. Tweeter was a boy scout Stolen car Across the Jersey line Mansion on the hill Thunder road State trooper Factory And then he says Tweeter was a girl!
I wonder why Dylan would so viciously attack Springsteen. Maybe he thought Bruce was a phony. Bruce talked a lot in his Broadway show about how he wrote about racing in the street and couldn't drive. Or that he never really had a job aside from performing. Bob would have been seeing Bruce living in LA hanging at Frank Sinatra as house.
@@karenbarker3470 It wasn't so much an attack as it was a joke. The lyrics were written by Dylan and Petty very quickly in a single sit-down session after which it was immediately recorded. There is a documentary on the making of this album that shows Bob and Tom off in a side room scribbling down the lyrics, and Harrison saying they were giggling as they wrote them. Note that some of the references are song titles from Springsteen's Nebraska album (Mansion on the Hill, State Trooper), an all acoustic album that was widely praised but didn't sell much and 1 was an unreleased (at that time) out take song Lions Den. Since many of references were not obvious to the casual listener that only knew Born in the USA or Born to Run, the joke flew over many people's heads. Note that Dylan appeared on stage with Bruce at a Shea stadium concert in the early 2000's, I doubt there was any annimosity.
If there's ever been a situation that I wish I could have witnessed, or been a part of, it would have been to be on hand when Dylan and Petty sat down, smoked a few joints, and wrote Tweeter and the Monkey Man together.
I sing this song to my dogs regularly. We call it: ' all the way to monkeyman'. Rhythm and footsteps with the human voice and 30 minutes the pups are ready for a nap and I am secure in the knowledge the house will not have a mess. Thanks guys for the soundtrack while walking the dogs
My personal favorite ❤️ The End of the Line. My husband and 3 kids lived in Muleshoe Texas from 1965 until 1989. My husband had commissary privileges at Cannon Air Force Base in Clovis New Mexico so we went over to Clovis at least once or twice every month. Norman Petty had his recording studio there and recorded numerous other artists songs including Roy Orbison and his band and Buddy Knox and The Rhythm Orchids. When my kids and I moved to Fritch Texas from Muleshoe Buddy Knox’s sister was my son’s fourth grade teacher 👩🏫, Verdy Brown. 😊😊😊😊
Sadly only Bob Dylan and Jeff Lynn are the last survivors of this group of men just enjoyed each other's company bringing out some fantastic songs like this one.😅
Actually, Jim Keltner, 82 yrs old, Played Drums, on Both session Albums...is still alive also .. The guys wanted to include him, as a Wilbury, but Jim wasn't interested.... So they called him: "Buster Sideberry"....lol
Indeed. Saw Petty and The Heartbreakers in 1976. First tour. Me and my dog's last concert was ZZ Top's last tour when Dusty was with us. I'd say RIP, but Dusty, rock 'em.
Probably the greatest super group ever, everyone a legend.
Well, Cream was up there. :)
there are a number of contenders tbh !
guess you're guided by your choice of musak tho......
Well said
@@robertrodes1546 How was Cream a supergroup?
Sounds like a Dylan and Jeff Lynn collaboration
No group will ever be as cool as these guys. Cream of the crop.
Aaaartdgsds3ex A
i fully agree
The actual Cream were a better Cream :)
For sure
The Beatles!
The amount of talent is staggering. Once in a lifetime. How lucky we were.
I know❤
I 👍agreed

Only Bob Dylan could have written this. Fantastic song, fantastic supergroup. What an ensemble of pure talent. Sadly, only 2 of them left.
2 of them... like tweeter and the monkey man...
Tom Petty helped write it
Who’s credited with the lyrics?

Both Tom Petty and Bob Dylan wrote the song. Bob Dylan got credit for writing most of it though.

Da hast du wohl recht! Heute nur noch Schrott! Das war alles „handgemachte Musik“ !
Headstones is Superior
Here here 🫶
Ditto to that.. The Wilburys were the best group on the planet
I guess I'll go to Florida to get myself some sun.... ain't no more opportunity here, everything else being done. Amen.
This is one of the best songs ever recorded. Masterpiece. What a band!
Could be. Really great song.
There are soooo many Dylsn songs that are up there, but ( in more recent years) Hurricane gets me. Same intensity, and so well structured.
This song needs its own feature length movie. It's that awesome.
To have been a fly on the wall during the making of this album!! God, the stories! The talent! Just mindblowing!! RIP TP, GH and RO.
This song deserves a billion views. Its the first time listening to this song and am so glad to have found it. Bob Dylan and the rest of Travelling Wilbury gang, feel blessed to be listening to their songs. It’s what music sounds like.
Good music, anyway!
Another CD my son borrowed, never to been seen again. All that talent together!
Great song great band. You can't beat the travelling wilbury, s. Great music
How fortunate to have them in my lifetime! The best of the best!
Love this song!!! Wilbury magic. 👍

I still own both LP's since the 80's... ;)
When George is “just” yet another member of a band, you know it’s a hellova good one :)
"Yet another" but the founder. He may of described himself as this but without him we wouldn't of had these bangers!

Pure Gold, What a Legendary Super Group ❤️🙏🏻
Glad I grew up on music like this, thanks dad!
Don't know why but this song is so good
Because it’s written and performed by some of the greatest artists ever is my guess
Its genuis...
It's my favorite song on this album, and that's saying something.
None of the others could have pulled off lead vocal as well.

Super group 🎶🎶 love them all 💖💖never get tired of this song even after more than thirty years Great to see them so happy together 💖💖
The greatest of any "Super Group" ever assembled in my humble view. Plus for my money the best album of the 80s.
This song has always reminded me of one of my other favorite Dylan tunes: Black Diamond Bay. The narrative is just so intertwined and interesting. Only Dylan can make something so convoluted so much fun to listen to.
Absolutely the best band ever
Bob Dylan and the Traveling Wilbury's masterpiece!
so so Glad these were in my yrs. 67 & so grateful.
Thanks so much for sharing!!! How I love these men!

That was the best combination of all the greats !!!
Love playing this on guitar...masterpiece story telling by ol Bob.....
Remarkable work, and not only because it is possible to understand what Dylan is singing.
Wouldn't just loved to be in the studio with these guys recording coolest band ever actually a rock and roll freak dream come true ❤️
Dylan skewers the Boss. Priceless.
This song is so funny,as is Dirty World, his "tribute" to Prince.
Wait!! I have to hear that!!
What a song !!! What a Band !!!! 💞💞💞
Tom asked Roy for his autograph when they were first meeting.. I think that’s hilarious… but also I think Tom was serious .. he should be.. Roy is the shit
Jeff Lynne (ELO) is the best producer ever!
All of that talent ...Super group .
All of thier music is great, not one song is bad. Excellent.
Canadian band Headstones do an amazing heavy version of this great tune!
this band was a great gift
what an awesome compilation - better then the Avengers - circus of clowns
Musik von „Könnern“ einfach nur schön! Hatte das Glück Tom Petty bei seinem letzten Konzert in Hamburg zu sehen!

Best track on the album … and that’s saying a lot to say the least
All present day musicians should listen to this song once a day. This is where the bar is set. Reach for it
'and the heatpipes coughing' a 60's visual but this is a moving painting, with lyrics and sound Bob at his creative best.
Jeff Lynne's ELO will be in concert in San Diego on November 12 2023.

Might be a group of legends, but it was the HEADSTONES that brought me here! And I think I'll go back now...
The term “Super Group” cannot even come close to describing the Wilbury’s!
I loved this song the minute it was released.
What a song....amazing lyrics, brilliant backing vocals, great guitar riff and Bob's on fire....
Love Love Love them!!
Such a terrific supergroup!
