"The Wilburys is a testament to George's ability to make and keep friends"... tells it all.
They were enjoying their time together and like some people play cards... others play football or soccer.. or even "handball" they were doing what all of them loved more than anything. This is so great a "last...(ing) goodbyes or greetings" from truly great musical inspired people who got famous because of their love of music... Roy, George and Tom have now traveled over to the other side... but Bob, Jim and Jeff are still traveling on this side... in 2022.

My dad had the "End of the Line" played at his funeral. People said some words a preacher got up and talked and people just sat and listened pretty stone faced. As soon as that song played there wasn't a dry eye in the place. Music can be so much more powerful. That album and especially that song will always hold a special place in my heart.

Roy Orbison was impossible to replicate. No one has or ever will sound like him. And to see these other music gods fawn over how special he is…. It just makes me happy that Roy went out with the highest appreciation he deserved. And he must have felt that before he died. He was pure priceless treasure

After watching the "Get Back" doc, it's easy to see why George was so worried about his friends happiness. He didn't want his friends to feel pushed aside like he had with the Beatles, the whole mess that had become. So he became the leader to make sure everyone felt included. Everyone had a voice here and a strength in a certain area to lend that made the group work. I loved all these guys separately and to see them together is magic. I watch this docu once a year, it's so good!

The Travelling Wilburys were a final validation of Roy Orbison’s contribution to Rock&Roll from the mid 50’s of Rockabilly at Sun Records to his last recordings with Virgin released in the late 80’s and early 90’s. Jeff Lynne produced Roy’s Mystery Girl album around the same time as the Wilburys and helped ensure Roy went out on top. It had been 25 years since Roy toured with George Harrison and the Beatles in the U.K. during 1963.

@Harry. B. Renner. jr. Interesting history lesson. I didn't know that about Sam and Ooby Dooby. People needed to learn to listen to the Man in Black! I love Johnny Cash, was so sad when June died bc I knew Johnny would be fairly quick to follow.
Both he and Roy had unmistakable voices, when you heard one or the other, yep that's Roy or yep that's Johnny.
The same can be said for George, Bob, and Tom as well. To think there's only 2 Wilburys left... Love old Bob! That'll be the day the music truly dies. I'm not a huge fan of Jeff (Geoff?) and ELO is too over produced but any friend of George's is a friend of mine kinda thing right? Thanks for the insight into Roy. 🌹

I always thought of Lynne as an engineer of sound, or a craftsman really. A sculpter. A sculpter of sound. I hear the Electric Light Orchestra sound organically fused into the songs. There's the classic rock and roll and rockabilly song, or a George Harrison song or riff, or the Dylan twang. It's fresh but its the classic sound and it has this something else. An ELO presentation and energy. All the songs were so nicely put together.

Such a fantastically rich, creative and beautiful dynamic. I remember discovering this album as a 10 year old in my Dad's car driving around Corsica and it will forever be the soundtrack to that time of my life!

Lightning in a bottle. I picked up the CD shortly after release in the late 80's and it became a road trip favorite in my player. To this day, I get chills when I hear the magic of their collaboration.

100% Roy Orbison's singing conveys an understanding of and love for people - whatever one is going through - it may create tears or joy but it soothes the soul. RIP Roy.

Because they all have such a history in music, and are each super talented, I can respect what they did; but come on, it's melodic pop music and for me that's significantly less important than the ground breaking they did in their respective bands previously. But yea, to have the talent, the talented friends, all the rest of what you said; must feel wonderful. The fact that some of you think it's great is icing on the cake.

@@peetrpeetr - Nothing the Beatles ever did was simple “pop music”? Or mediocre/album filler ever for that matter? Please. Compare “I Wanna Hold Your Hand” to the the Kinks “All Of The Night” and tell me with a straight face that the Beatles didn’t play pure pop.
Psychedelia was not the pinnacle of any of these musicians either. I don’t think that ranking musicians by levels of awesomeness is all that productive, especially for full-grown adults. But that is my opinion. You are welcome to yours.
