I cant remember whom else he had in mind for this Mega Band, but the fact of the matter was that Lindsey had a soft spot for Fleetwood Mac, ended up hooking up with his dysfunctional and coked out bandmates to make Tango in the Night. He literally saved The Mac from what Henley saw it as (and probably many in the business). Loyalty even if it meant going insane (which he refused to do by leaving the group and iuts vices). Tango postponed what Henley and others saw the Mac as by a decade. Time album mde it a dead horse once and for all. Then Lindsey back again to save the Mac getting The Dance done.

Not only do I love listening to these legends, I LOVE watching them .. they are really enjoying being together and making fabulous music! Wish they had been around longer.
wildcatter63 . The Willburys came together pretty much by accident. George , Jeff and Roy were in LA one night having dinner together. George said to Jeff that he wanted to go to a studio to record. They knew Bob had a small studio in his house an decided to call him up. According to George, Bob was usually hard to get a hold of, but for some miracle, he picked up after the first ring and said:" sure. Come on over". George had left his guitar at Tom's house so they picked him up and they all went together to Bob's place. The wrote and recorded "Handle with Care" that night, but didn't come together to record an album until maybe a few weeks after. According to Tom, they all enjoyed the experience of doing that one song together, that they all agreed to get together and do it again.
They are all wonderful; I've been listening to their music for decades. Love Jim Keltner. I remember George saying many years ago that he loved nothing more than singing in a band with a group of close friends.
After the BEATLES were done IMO this group was Geroge's dream scenario ! No one in "charge" ! EVERYONE contributing bc they WANTED too and HAVING FUN whilst doing it together ! On their own each one was a rebel and had changed the music industry for bands and performers ! TYVM ! Not bad GEORGE ! NOT BAD AT ALL ! ❤
Collaboration and Friendship are something that runs this Band. No EGO. Do you have any Idea how hard George had to fight for every song in Beatles times? John and Paul were totally happier with him just playing his guitar.
I hear everyone's own talent and music in every song... No one today could take such magnificent individuals and make one band. This is what real musicians sound like!

Feel blessed they left us Vol 1 and Vol 3
I don't know how they keep their faces straight singing this, well towards the end there is the odd smile. It's a Masterclass in the art of the tongue in cheek pointless lyrics with a nod to an old Beatle song and a few cliches. Absolutely brilliant!!
U571 ...best bands in co...guess..but with the voice of Roy. ..petty....even Dylan. ..drummer 2...WHAT A GREAT BUNCH OF TALENT. ..and proper musicians. ...caught late but...Definitely gonna hear more....be safè people it's not over....DEAN KOONTZ. .
write this in book 1985....were in trouble.
Couldn't agree more. Shows what a class act is.
I actually find the lyrics quite creepy.
That's because you're trying to be eccentric! The lyrics have no meaning - get it? 🤔🤨@@eccentriastes6273
We may never again see such a talented group of musicians having this much fun again.
Between all of them, it just overflows with hooks. These guys could write hit after hit in their sleep. Legends.
Jeff Lynnes vocal production and arrangement is fckin brilliant
Sie hätten noch so lange so toll weiter singen können, war eine tolle Truppe😏 aber es ist so schade, dass so viele von ihnen weg sind.😪😪😪😪😪😪
The harmony of their voices couldn’t be better orchestrated. Like an exquisite vintage wine.
This is one of my Favs .
Rock on legends. RIP Roy, George ,and sadly ,Tom .
and Tom
cleveland2000 That's what he said
Agree with all the above. Terrific group?
ruandted: Imagine.
Growing up with them all & their music. They were talented to begin with. They only got better with age.
Roy Orbison, was one of the most talented musicians of the 50s Rock Era. Yet, his talents were not fully appreciated. He had an unbelievable vocal range. Many a Teenage Dance Party, played his records and we danced the night away.

Nailed it. Great performance 🎉
Sheer brilliance. George and Jeff harmonize so well together. Petty and Dylan harmonize so well together. And all together they harmonize so well. Sounds like Dylan lyrics and ELO Jeff and George music. George so happy to be playing with his friends.
How much fun could.this have been, thanku, thanku, thanku❤❤❤
Love that bridge... the Jeff Lynne harmonies breaking through. Can't stop smiling.

“My child, it’s not your strength I ask
I only ask your all.”
“A soldier, me? My Lord,” said she,
“I have no sword to shine.”
“My child, your sword would never do,

George was such a warm human being Tom was also very charismatic. I love em all
Not only do I love listening to these legends, I LOVE watching them .. they are really enjoying being together and making fabulous music! Wish they had been around longer.
I didn't know it at the time but, what this group had was pure majic. There will never be a group again that compares.
"Don't it make you wanna twist & shout when you're inside out". A little nod to the Fab Four. Thank you, George!
Love this. Five talented musicians having a great time. How lucky we were to be experiencing this superstar group.
We still are and will forever as long as we have electricity.
This is from Volume 3, which was produced after Roy died.
So only four. :(
drummer
+ Jim Keltner = 5 talented musicians :)
wildcatter63 .
Their voices all compliment one another. It's even cooler when they pair up!!
They were a talented bunch of Wilburys
They are all wonderful; I've been listening to their music for decades. Love Jim Keltner. I remember George saying many years ago that he loved nothing more than singing in a band with a group of close friends.
What a great band ...with Jimmy Keltner on drums, the most complete group ever...
You know you're getting old when the traveling wilbury's start looking young to you.😒
Love how they all share the mic. No one trying to be a leader or have an ego trip here.
This truly is inspirational!
I Love to hear George and Jeff singing together.
One of the best harmonies ever!
I hear everyone's own talent and music in every song... No one today could take such magnificent individuals and make one band. This is what real musicians sound like!
SOME OF THE GREATEST MUSIC EVER MADE RIGHT HERE.
So many great voices
So many great memories of
the time this album came out. 😊

Love to hear Tom's solos. Miss this musician extraordinaire. rip my friend....with love.
Many moons agoin the late 80's , I was away for over a month. I came home & my Dad calls out to me to come over to his shop & hear a CD he bought. I go there & Dad says, Roy Orbison (he was always a fan of Roy's) has a new Band. Then he turned Traveling Wilbury's on & handed me the jacket. I said Dad do you know who these guys are ... Tom Petty, Bob Dylan,George Harrison & Jeff Lynne , he goes" sure I do ...they're Roy's new band ~:)
kathleen copps m
That is so nice kathleen, you caused laughter in me and I am still smiling. Thank you.
Hilarious!
Perfect.
This is so sweet! What a dad!!
The friendship and union of such strong and talented musicians touch the heart and mind. Unique beauty, extremely bright like a flash.

I never knew about the Traveling Wilburys but I definitely know the members from just their voices. I can't stop listening, damn that tear in my eyes.
The vocal harmonies definitely have an ELO sound
Great Harmonies!
Jeff Lynne is a fantastic musician and producer.
Miss Roy, George and Tom, RIP Guys. Need to change the lyrics in 2024 things look more brown than yellow,
❤😢MISS ROY ORBISON, TOM, GEORGE 🌹🌹🌹🌹🕊🕊🕊🕊🎵🎵HEAVEN HAS LOTS OF GREAT MUSIC 🎶
I really wish I could have watched them in concert. Just think about how much talent these guys have between them. Just a phenomenal group of men.
Love ❤️ travel 😍 wilburys
I'm happy George Harrison ful-
filled his plan to form a super-group (* for lack of better words) before he left us for the great beyond. Heaven got one of the best. 😇🎸🎶
Months later I have still not gotten over Tom being gone...he is sorely missed and I doubt I will ever get over it...What a legacy he left!!!
Me either.
Never seen so much talent on a stage. It shows in the sound.
RIP Tom Petty :'(
And George, and Roy :(
I missed the Wilbury's in their day and I seriously missed out. What a brilliant band. And let's hear it for the drummer Jim Keltner, who wasn't a superstar but is definitely a great drummer. xxx
Depends on what you consider a superstar. He's one of the most respected drummers around
The fact that they chose him speaks volumes.
So do i....About Jim-absolutely right!
I remember. But I appreciate their music more now than I did then.
Nice to see a kind word for Jim keltner.. an unsung hero ..
Roy Orbison was my favourite but, even without him, the Travelling Wilburys were still a supergroup.
cannot get enough of this one - not only musically and performance wise - the lyrics ring true more than EVER! timeless!
This whole song has such an ELO vibe to it. It's amazing.

True this is why it's so good. Long live Jeff Lynne please Tour in 2022!
Great song full of hooks!! The bridge part that George sings "Be Careful" etc. is incredibly melodic!!
I love watching this video. There's a line " Ain't no Shadow of a Doubt "and that chorus " Don't you wanna twist and shout has Jeff Lynne's ELO diffused in that song.
Jim keltner playing drums using traditional grip! Excellent!
SUCH A GROUP OF BRILLIANT MUSICIANS ... NOTHING LIKE THEM AROUND SINCE
Maybe my favorite Wilbury's song. Excellent.
