You're absolutely right! When you see him in concert, he seems incredibly shy and the opposite of a grandstanding showman. Definitely no fist-pumping or "everybody put your hands in the and make some noise!" Just pure talent.

Exactly. George was in awe of talented people and thrived around them. His issue with John and Paul was more due to an intense personality clash than anything else. When you look at how petty John and Paul were towards each other, it's not hard to realize why George would feel stuck between their life sized egos.

+ RodgerE2472 Funny, I was reading somewhere that Don Henley approached Lindsey Buckingham to form with him a band like the Willburys, that Fleetwood Mac were has bens as a band, a dead horse and an 80s road kill and move on. I cant remember whom else he had in mind for this Mega Band, but the fact of the matter was that Lindsey had a soft spot for Fleetwood Mac, ended up hooking up with his dysfunctional and coked out bandmates to make Tango in the Night. He literally saved The Mac from what Henley saw it as (and probably many in the business). Loyalty even if it meant going insane (which he refused to do by leaving the group and iuts vices). Tango postponed what Henley and others saw the Mac as by a decade. Time album mde it a dead horse once and for all. Then Lindsey back again to save the Mac getting The Dance done.

wildcatter63 . The Willburys came together pretty much by accident. George , Jeff and Roy were in LA one night having dinner together. George said to Jeff that he wanted to go to a studio to record. They knew Bob had a small studio in his house an decided to call him up. According to George, Bob was usually hard to get a hold of, but for some miracle, he picked up after the first ring and said:" sure. Come on over". George had left his guitar at Tom's house so they picked him up and they all went together to Bob's place. The wrote and recorded "Handle with Care" that night, but didn't come together to record an album until maybe a few weeks after. According to Tom, they all enjoyed the experience of doing that one song together, that they all agreed to get together and do it again.

Many moons agoin the late 80's , I was away for over a month. I came home & my Dad calls out to me to come over to his shop & hear a CD he bought. I go there & Dad says, Roy Orbison (he was always a fan of Roy's) has a new Band. Then he turned Traveling Wilbury's on & handed me the jacket. I said Dad do you know who these guys are ... Tom Petty, Bob Dylan,George Harrison & Jeff Lynne , he goes" sure I do ...they're Roy's new band ~:)
