This isn’t a tough job but takes a little time and you might need to buy the line disconnect tool. If left unattended the transmission will slowly be drained of fluid and destroyed.
I just found out mine are leaking today As well. They look exactly like yours lol. Thank you for the video!
Good effort for showing everything that has to be done in those tight spots appreciate you 💪💪💪
Tip for removal of lines from the radiator. Use snips to cut the old line off near the flare nut so you can put a 5/8 socket on the nut. This will help for the removal part.
Or just pull the radiator fan out and you'll have all the room in the world.
@@bakamonogatari1826 I partially removed my radiator fan due to gen 2 2012 Ford Fusion hoses and lines being right next to the fan notches. I had enough room to get the job done. Ford designs are poor so they force you to go to a mechanic.
Shoot your lines look great compared to mine! Layers of rust flaking off 😅 180k and just started leaking this month
Thanks for the video!
Very impressive for 180k!! Mine only lasted till 135k when it started leaking and man did it leak😭
@@markbeshay the scary part is they leaked for about 15-20k miles and now it's not leaking 😅 when I check it the tranny its still full from the last time I topped it off 😬
Thanks for taking the Time to make this video.
I know it’s way late but I just seen this and it’s way easier to just remove the fan housing off the radiator, take about a minute to do that then you have plenty of room
I can’t remove my transmission cooler lines with the tool. I pull the line back and try to put the tool in and it’s not going in. There is rust so maybe that’s causing the problem.
Great instructions. Much appreciated!
Hi William,
Thanks for sharing! Do you mind me asking if you installed the new transmission cooler lines from the bottom or top? I plan on doing this on my mom's vehicle soon!
Thanks a bunch!
Dominic
@@DominicPersichetti mainly all from the bottom.
Going through this rn idk if my transmission is blown or not has 63,000 miles
this video was spot on! thanks so much for sharing. awesome!!!!
151,500 miles on my 2011 ford fusion just started leaking. Wish me and my hubby luck on replacing them 😢
It’s fairly easy. You can do it.
It’s fairly easy. You can do it.
Wich way do they go ?
question once i put the new coolant line back on the quick disconnect side won’t snap back on i got it on but when i pull to make sure it’s secure it falls back off
I am having this same problem, looking for some sort of answer.
@@michaelroman748 what was the answer? can't get mine on
Nope. I don't know why but but they don't just pop right back together, either of them.
The other ends are alright but for some reason getting it apart was poc but it doesn't go back together
Well what happened Gordi? 🤔
@@evan937 Evan, how are you? Enjoying the weather I hope, wherever you are. I'm in Michigan and it's pretty nice here, supposed to be very hot this week.
😁 And now that you got the forecast for someplace you might never even get to (hopefully), I want to tell you that I had to reread that to see wth you were talking about ☺️. I never said that I was smart, just pretty 😉.
Pretty f-ing ugly.
Yeah we had it right all the time, we or rather I wasn't here when he started tearing it apart so I didn't know that it had another clamp that went over the joint and held the two pieces together.
So no sir, I wasn't able to fix it that night but the owner did remember the plastic clip that held them together. So he put them on and fixed it. They did just go right together and clicked but then I pulled to be sure they were locked and they kept coming apart.
Told you, I'm not to smart sometimes ☺️
Can you tell me the part number on your new part and where you got it?
Did you find the part #??
How do u remove the black connectors on the metal pole that connects the 2 lines to the car?!! Do you just pull down? I’m in the process of removing it and I’m stuck taking the disconnected lines off my vehicle.
If you’re replacing with new lines it should come with them. So don’t worry about breaking. But the lines should pop out or there is a screw holding them down. You can always break the old and zip tie the new lines in place.
Hi,should I drain transmission fluid before replacing the cooler lines?
No. Some will spill out. Unless you are wanting to change fluid anyway but you’ll have to remove the plug to do that.
@@williamkincaid3222 Thanks for answering. No I don’t want to change the fluid,I just don’t want to spill all of it ,small spill sounds good. Thanks again
Question where did u bought the part cause my is 2011 2.5l too
@@anonymousesc5712 I got the part number from AutoZone and ordered the same one on eBay for like 30 bucks or something when AutoZone wanted 125
How long did it take to remove old lines and replace the new lines? Any idea what a shop would charge including part costs?
Maybe 1 hour - not rushing around. I don’t think a shop would charge less than $400 but that’s a guess.
I was just at a Ford dealer, exact same car and problem. They qouted me 3 hours of labor and 100 for the part. So around $450...is that bad lol?
I brought mine to a local shop and the charged me 299 146 for the part 136 for labor and the rest taxes
This shop quoted me $600 and something so I rounded up to $700
What year do you have? Asking because I'm about to replace the leaking line for my son's 2012 3.0 Fusion and it has the "W" code transmission which according to the owner's manual is the 6F35. But when I go Advance auto, the line that you show says it only fits the F21.
2010 4cyl. Check your owners manual I don’t think you have the same as mine but I could be wrong
@@williamkincaid3222 the owners manual told me to look at door jam to get the code. Owners manual said code W mapped as stated above. Good point that your car is a 4cyl vs my son's being a 6. That likely explains the different hose configuration. Thanks for the prompt reply, and great video!
Poor design that they rust and leak. Mine doing the same thing and fixing this week. I contemplated coating them with a plasticoat or wheel well spray to make them rust proof.
I used Fluid Film spray (lanolin based) to coat the lines. I’m still thinking about wrapping them in rubber tubing with zip ties.
Thanks.
