Great video! I am a owner of 2010 fusion 2.5L SE (221,000 km). So far I have done these major repairs:
    1) Replaced alternator
    2) Transmission Fluid leaking. Replaced the leaking pipes.
    3) Serpentine belt/Tension Pully/Idle Pully.
One big advantage for this 2010 fusion is the simple design, lots of maintenance jobs can be DIYed easily.
However, my main complain is the rust. Oh man, the rust spots are everywhere, i.e Side doors/Rocket Panel/wheelhouse, etc.

We've had a 2011 Ford Fusion for 86K miles and just had to replace the ABS module. Quite expensive if bought new from dealer ($500+) plus labor. I got a good used one for less than $100 and then invested on a ODBLink cable and a Forscan license for less than 75$ and programed it myself. I hear ABS module going bad is quite a common ocurrence on Fusions and other Ford vehicles. Other than that, the usual things like sway bar and control arm bushings. Great cars overall. Great video 1A!

I have a 2012 Fusion. This vid did not address the first problem I had with my Fusion. A little wrench light on the dash and an error code of P2112. I have the four cylinder engine. Problem known to Ford, but car is too old for the recall. Or so they said. A friend and I got the part and replaced it. It was the throttle body and is known to Ford. Four bolts, easy. It was the correct fix and I haven't had any problems with the engine since. But I have also had the infamous interior door handles breaking. Very expensive if you have someone else do it, but very cheap and easy if you do it yourself. There are videos on how to replace interior door handles. Both front door handles had broken, but I replaced. Other than that, my Fusion has been very reliable.

4 cylinder doesn't have power steering fluid. A common problem with the 4 cylinder is a whining noise that increases and decreases with RPM. It's the tensioner pulley for the serpentine belt. Most likely NOT the alternator.

WARNING: The last 45 seconds of this video are WRONG, it is the 2nd generation versions of the v6 engine that have the
dreaded 'internal' version of the water pump (pump is inside the engine front cover, driven by the timing chain). The 1st
generation engines have an old school external mounted water pump that is at the REAR of the engine, driven by a small
rubber belt that runs off a pulley mounted to the rear of the front bank camshaft. It will leak, like all water pumps at some point, but is not the HATEFUL/EXPENSIVE/RIDICULOUS repair of the later engines with the stupid internal water pump that can destroy your
engine if it leaks coolant internally, mixing with engine oil leading to catastrophic failure!

I have been having great luck with my 2011 4cyl 6mt, just ran into my first major issue, I have a failed transmission output speed sensor. Doesn't sound like much on its own but the lack of speedometer sends the modules and instrument cluster crazy! Got it working for a bit today but it fails after about 10 minutes of driving. Luckily it's not hard to get to, but the manual transmission sensor is $130 compared to $10-20 for the automatic one.

Yeah but my 2010 2.5 has a weird computer bug with the electronic power steering. Just know, if you're in a 2.5 with electronic power steering and you get a flat tire (probably under 5-10 pounds flat) the computer will turn off the electronic power steering IF you turn the car off. So for example, you're driving and got a flat and have about 5-10 PSI left, you better not turn off the car because that electric power steering will not work. Happened to me twice, I had to go to a shop where they had to use two different OBD-II devices just to reset the problem and restore the electronic power steering. (Thankfully is free for me!)

Hold the handle to fully open position gently. Keep the door handle in fully open position. Then unlock the lock latch a little beyond it's initial unlock stop point and the result is an easy work around to something that Ford should've prevented in the 1st place with a more durable material for that handle.

I want to mostly share my story with working on Ford Fusion. I think I was still in middle school and me and my dad worked on a fusion since the brakes was feeling spongy and we maybe spent 3 days bleeding and trying to find the issues. We ended up taking it to a diagnostic at Ford and we had to replace
The brake calipers. But the most traumatic experience was that I was using a old snap-on jack that started to fail. I do not remember that well if it was my middle school ignorance or maybe the jack, but I placed the jack on the middle of the the subframe I think and it slipped and crushed the radiator. Worst part was my dad had left the shop and I had to make the call to him saying I crushed the radiator lol. Ever since that experience I still hesitate and worry About lifting cars with a jack.

You can eliminate the power steering problem by purchasing a 3.0 L all-wheel-drive Fusion.
Aside from that, the only big concern is the all-wheel-drive version of these cars, which is the driveshaft. That’s a very common problem.
But for a car, that’s outstanding features in terms of issues are lug, nuts, and broken doorhandles, that’s not much of a complaint about this car. I’m gonna go out on a limb here and say aside from a German built Ford focus, this is probably the most reliable and well built ford that they’ve made in years. I just picked up a 2010 fusion sport With 209,000 km on it and it doesn’t have a single issue other than the driveshaft.

Current problem I have is while the engine is running, I turn on the headlight switch and the engine shuts off especially when I pull on the switch to turn on the driving lights and at the same time I hear the buzzing noise coming from the window washer fluid tank pump. A neighbor told me the headlight switch is probably the culprit. Any ideas?

I have a 2011 ford fusion sport I purchased in 2013. Never had any issues with it till last year, the water pump went out, the cost of the repair was $3700 at a local shop, dealer wanted $5000. Unfortunately for these models, the engine has to be taken out to have access to the water pump. 3 weeks ago, the flywheel broke, it is currently at the shop and it will be $1300. It is a 3.5 duratec engine, which a lot of people will have it in their explorers as well. Good and fast little car for 9 years just with regular maintenance, but if you have one of these with this engine, if the water pump goes out, be prepared for the cost. I have a friend with an explorer, water pump went out and paid $5000 at the dealer.

I have a 2010 SEL 3.0L, I'll list my top two. In 2015 while driving, all of a sudden some dash idiot lights lit up and I believe they may have been some sort of alarm, about a steering issue although steering remained fine. When I got home turned car off and later tuned back on, that's when steering issue occurred (loss of power steering). It had something to do with a computerized module failing. Although it was only part of the overall computer system, had to replace entire thing to the tune of close to $2K. Ford would later have a recall on this but only for the 2011-12 years. Recently at about 110K miles I had to replace valve head gasket and gasket around oil pan because of leaking. I now have another leak which is either the timing belt cover or something to do with power steering fluid. I should also add that automatic transmission will sometimes violently buck when changing gears at high speeds. I understand this is not uncommon.

My toyota has recently been totalled thanks to a semi! I dont have much cash so I'm looking to Ford for something reliable and affordable.
After some research (googling), I've found that Ford is very inconsistent with their reliability. You really need to know what you're looking at when buying a Ford, unlike a Toyota for example. That's not a knock on Ford, just do your research before you buy! Ford DOES make very reliable cars and trucks but you want to know what engines and transmission to get or you may be getting something that isnt good

Mostly when I’m just spewing up, I still can speed up no problem but that jerking motion when it’s reviving up to the 5 mark on the RMP is annoying. I thought maybe it’s a shift delay and needs a new shifting solenoid.

Once you do you should tap a drain hole on it as well for future. Depending where you live moisture can actually get into the pcm and tweak it out, spray some electronics cleaner at it, won’t hurt and could help. We had a deep freeze this last winter -20 for a week then back to low 20’s/30’s just enough to get some moisture where you don’t want it. Otherwise bring it to a shop and have it reflashed for like $80 should be good, general you won’t have a problem with the combustion on the 2.3l at least. Even with the crappy valve cover gasket design and how oil can sometimes end up on top of your plugs I’ve never had a misfire yet.
