That's a relief! I was thinking I'd hav2 buy a expensive ass tool or kit that I would only use a couple times in my lifetime. I wasn't sure if the regular quick release tools would work because it looks weird like most of everything else that Ford does. Lol. Thanks Man. Stay Safe out there.
no need to pull the front end to get them, i was in a jam and didnt have a tool that would work, i was able to get them off using a ziptie, got the tip of the tie poked in then very carefully was able to rotate it around using a flat head screwdriver to push the tie in as i went, once i got the ziptie 3/4 the way around i gave it a pull and they came right off. hope this helps someone.
Cool, what ever works without damaging the clips so you can re-use it. I had the front end off because the car had front end damage and i had to replace the entire front end on this car, im sure you can do it without taking the front end off.
There is also a special metal tool you can buy just for these fittings. But whether you use plastic or metal tool clean the fittings out with spray cleaner or lube. Lots of dirt collects in the fitting. Makes removing the pipe much easier.
We cut the lines off with a sawzall then replace the fittings. It's an extra $25 for a pair of fittings but it's good insurance they don't come back leaking, and if you reuse the fitting and it leaks with new lines you can't cut them off unless you want to ruin the new lines.
I’ve been doing this exact thing for 2 hours now lol. Same piece same car part same car. The pipe the quick disconnect goes over is rusty af. Just chiseled and sanded as much as I could off. Got a little better but still nothing
The quick connect is great but should be renamed the impossible disconnect. The second rib is pointless and blocks the tool from entering the fitting. Why Ford did not invent a better tool to disconnect this fitting is beyond me. I had to torch mine off. Ford Fusion has been great car but they clearly do not want car owners working on their own vehicle .
This is the best video that I could find to explain how to do this job. Excellent!

Tried his method worked really good

Thank you!
Thanks for the instructions

So that's that later transmission that they started using in 2010?

Very helpful tip. Thanks, bud.
Thanks man!
For every connector like that I cut a piece of license plate with a tin snips to size, wrap around and push.
Thanks for the Video
Is this the same as a 2007 Ford Fusion 2.3l engine? I'm having the same issue with the transmission cooler lines has a big leak
This one has the v-6 3.0 duratec motor, however connections are the same.

Just another way for them to sell you their overpriced transmission lines, but we have to figure out away around that.
Thanks buddy.
Thanks great job 👍
Sweet. Thanks.
Good job man.
Do you really have to pull the whole front end off to get to these?
Yes, it's not accessible without doing so.
I was able to replace the lines without pulling the front end of the car. It is a tight squeeze though.
@@TimmyT1996 yes it is. I don't know why you would think that.
@@gordiray6130 congrats. You responded to a 5 year old comment just to make a point.
But why would they be so hard to get back together?
did u ever get it back together i’m having trouble snapping mine back on it’ll go on but come right off when i barely pull on it
This the right way thanks
Awesome thanks
Thank you !!
Wish it worked for me
Thanks dude!
