If you have oedema then, you have to massage in an upward direction towards the heart. It means you start your massage at the tip of the finger.

My thumbs are the only ones not affected. All other fingers dip down at nucleus to first joint then back up radically. Looks like a swan 🦢 head. I don’t have any pain and can do most everything But open bottles and turn doorknobs. My fingers stay cold.
