From what I understand the dog was on a leash but it broke free. Of course, we must wait for the trial so they can defend themselves. IF this is true, the will go a long way for their defense. No prior convictions for either of the two defendants. No complaints on record about either the Dog or the two accused. I'm told both surrendered themselves instead of law enforcement have ing to 'chase them down'. Chances are they will get some sort of probation and pay a fine. Of course the are open to lawsuit for medical bills the family is out but I don't see any prison time as this is a misdemeanor. Besides, 15,000 dollars bail for each. This isn't not serious enough for any prison sentence.

@@kathleenthomas1971"Things" happen?! That's BS. There was a death. So sick of people defending aggressive dogs. Pitbulls should be illegal to own. Sadly it's South Carolina. They will be out on bond in a few days to a few weeks and will likely get probation since they are being charged with a random low level offense even though they acted with implied malice and caused someone to die. South Carolina's solution to sky high crime was a gun control bill that was disguised as a "constitutional cary bill" that puts extreme penalties for things like felon in possession of firearm and carrying a firearm in the wrong place (up to life without parole in some cases), there are people there serving life without parole for giving their friends marijuana near a school all while South Carolina has failed to pass bills cracking down on organized retail theft, underaged drinking, attempted murder (increasing penalties from 1-30 years to 10-to life without parole) and more.

I have never been more grateful to own my dog named Lulu. She's about 20 lbs overweight, walks with a limp, flatulent to no end, snores and is missing most of her teeth. She was originally bought to be a "yapper", sort of a guard dog to bark when someone came to the door. We thought she was a cross between a poodle and a pug, a poodypug. Now, if someone broke in, all she would do is eyeball you for a second and go back to sleep. Love my Lulu.

There is no reason for pit bulls to exist. There are hundreds of other breeds to choose from. Nearly all homeowners/renters/condo policies exclude coverage (payment for damages and defense) for any type of animal bite/attack. The insurance industry learned long ago that most dog owners are not careful all of the time and dogs do what dogs do. BTW, animal owners can buy a specific type of insurance called "Animal Liability Insurance" which covers the damage any dog does and the legal costs for the owners. It will not keep owners out of jail. BUT, most dog owners don't buy this type of insurance policy.

FLORENCE - The owners of the dog that attacked and killed a 71-year old woman have been arrested and charged with owning a dangerous animal, the Florence Police Department announced.
Florence residents Justin Conroy and Ashley Maclean were both taken into custody and transported to the Florence County Detention Center.
They were charged with owning a dangerous animal that made an unprovoked attack causing bodily harm. The crime, a misdemeanor, is punishable by a maximum fine of $5,000 or a prison sentence of three years.
This would be Maclean and Conroy's first offense.
Neighbors reported on social media that the dog had caused problems before, but Florence Police Department Capt. Stephen Starling said the department had not previously received any calls related to the dog.

@@sharoncruzen1942that’s is untrue. People like you just regurgitate the same statements over and over without recognizing there is nuance in everything. Dogs are still animals even though they are domesticated. Any dog has the potential to act out and many times it has nothing to do with how the owners have treated them. It just so happens when a “pitbull” attacks, the chances of extreme injury or death increase due to the physical characteristics of the dog. Their bite strength and stamina is nearly unmatched in the canine world. The dog could have been in fear, of what we may never know, but it could have been the reason for the attack. Owners can not remove every innate instinct of an animal. Chihuahuas attack, as well as beagles, terriers, Dobermans, etc….its just that the attacks typically aren’t deadly.
This is a horrible situation but there is a high likelihood these owners did nothing to cause this dog to attack this poor lady.

I adopted a blind German Shepard, and he was one of the meanest, toughest, and careless dogs you've ever been around. Even though he is blind, his hearing and nose were like his eyes, because besides running into some things every couple hrs you could barely tell. He couldn't be around kids, or other dogs because he would have killed another dog, and bit a child, and him being over 100 lbs, he was a menace. But after a yr he is the nicest, and most loving dog you could meet, You gotta teach a dog how to love, and to be nice. We have showed him so much love, and taught him that he was here to stay, and him being a smart breed he thrived with us, I have trained dogs, but I'm not the dog whisperer, but my point to the story, is showing a dog plenty of love, and teaching the dog boundaries is always a direct reflection of how the dog is going to behave, and being a unfit owner is the reason dogs attack other dogs, and humans. People get dogs for the wrong reasons, because they're cute, or whatever, and then the dog grows up to be a 80 lb Pitt with no direction, or boundaries, and the owners are too cheap, or broke to get them help. Its never the dogs fault, its the scumbag owners. This lady can have that baby face, and fake emotion all she wants, but its their fault this happened

Why do people want an ugly , dangerous dog??

  • @007gunlogo
    @007gunlogo 20 днів тому +2

To all you lovers of dangerous breeds that keep using the same tired, "it's all in the training" excuse...
Your logic is akin to keeping a loaded gun in the house and insisting your "trained" children will never go near it. You and I both know that the risk is ALWAYS there. Unfortunately, with a dangerous dog, you're not only risking your family, you're risking other's loved ones as well, as in the case of this poor victim. Because of their unpredictability (uncontrolled risk), such breeds should be outlawed.
So many of the aggressive breeds are owned by people that get some juvenile ego boost thinking their dog makes them look "tough". With ALL the available safer breeds for people to choose from, I'm not buying that most pitbull owners just like the looks and personailty of this particular breed. It's a dopey ego thing, whether they'll admit it or not. They own this dog to compensate for some personailty defect they can't address in a healthier way. It makes them feel "powerful" to own a powerful, dangerous dog.
At some point, after the American public has reached its saturation point with these senseless attacks and tragic deaths, a law will be written, and aggressive breeds will be no more. People will be able to walk their neighborhoods, past every home, without fear of being attacked by such dogs.
Ok, let the angry replies flow.

I only just ran onto this case & don’t yet know the details, but I just want to thank you for your comments regarding dangerous dogs. I’m assuming these were Pit Bulls maybe. If you’re familiar with statistics on the number of deaths caused by this particular breed then you know indeed how sad the problem is with irresponsible dog owners who believe “their” dog/dogs would never bite, harm, let alone kill a baby, a child, the elderly…& yes, it happens in households that the “big lovable lap dog” turns on the owner as well.
I just want to add that “all dog breeds” can turn on a dime, provoked or unprovoked. A leash law was enacted in my state after our 5 yr old daughter was killed by three “family pets” two houses from ours. Not Pit Bulls…They forgot their manners one day & now we get to take flowers to the cemetery. I’m so tired of dog owners complaining about the leash laws. “My dog should be allowed to run free,” they say. “My dog has been trained & you don’t need to worry,” they say. Again, thanks for speaking out on this awful situation. I’ll try to find out more about this case in particular.

I agree that dress is not appropriate court attire. That dress is more like if she was going to the beach. Even a school teacher that I had in middle school would never ever even dress like that. She always had long sleeves, her dresses and skirts were always below the knees, never any slit openings and they always had pockets (she always had her hands in her pockets). I understand about the hot and humid weather in the summer time in certain areas but always remember that a good appearance makes a difference.

We live agricultural in a rural mountain hollow. We have livestock and own Great Pyrenees dogs. We added a livestock hot wire to our fencing as one of our dogs can jump 5.5’ and clear the fencing. He only got out once, and we addressed the issue immediately. We also put signs up at our gates, as if someone puts their hands over the fence or attempts to open the gate (which is chained and padlocked) they will protect their charges and attack. It is what they are bred for. If you meet me down the road from our house our dogs will approach you with wagging tails and want pets. They protect ONLY their house, land and animals. However, I have never allowed any of our 4 Pyrenees access to any of our 10 grandchildren. We take our dog’s capabilities very seriously! The potential for just one accident is more than we are willing to wager. We are responsible dog owners! This is such a tragic situation. I view owners who keep dangerous dogs as an extension of their own ego. They use a protective dog to make them feel more powerful in their own minds.

It has been said this is a bond hearing. “My guess” is she was probably just working in office attire and was called over to this bond hearing. No time to go home and change into what some people in these comments would like to see her dressed in. I guess they want her to be in a dark polyester blend suit on a 99 degree day in SC with super high humidity. The dress material is colorful. It is a normal summer office dress. However, It is NOT a “Sun Dress”. It does not have straps, low cut etc. She appears to be a somewhat taller than ave female. I am sure most dresses are going to hit this Female Attorney a little shorter than on a women of ave height, which is 5’4”
