Irrelevant. Personally, I don't "celebrate" Thanksgiving, so I'm always home alone. Others are at work and can't prepare a big meal. Many reasons. Also, the plaintiff invited the defendants a month in advance - it's a big assumption that they had nowhere [else] to go.

@@BasicYTHandle From the defendant girl's excitement at being invited to a place her familynwpuld be (note her own family choose plaintiffs over defandants) and the fact that it came from people who hadn't yet met the man and her extreme delay in springing the dog on them (and lack of alternative dog caregivers), we can safely surmise that the defendants didn't get many other invites.

The defendant had to have known that the plaintiff's dog passed away due to his dog's attack. It's even more egregious for him to then say, "There were no vet bills" in his defense. How utterly moronic and insensitive on his part!! He's a real winner, alright :(

Wow, this is incredibly sad. I feel so bad for that family. Most good people consider their pets as family members. I cannot imagine how heartbreaking that was.

Can totally see how this unfolded. Friend reaches out out of courtes, and the demands grow. "Can my boyfriend come too?" "He has a daughter, can she also come?" Her. "..... well, yes of course, ok." She does NOT ask about the dog because she KNEW they'd have a problem with a strange guy bringing a flippin' Pitbull to their house for the FIRST TIME with a bunch of toddlers and small children. Imagine if it also attacked children!
So the plaintiff's had some responsibility. Legally, maybe not, but they're adults who allowed this in their home.

They owned an untrained animal, and they thought kids will love my doggo, although he is untrained and never been around people in a different house before, oh what fun. Till this happened.

I remember this case. The defendant has a lot of nerve to not only bring a brand new dog that has never been around other dogs to see how the dog would react, but to be that ignorant and negligent after the dog caused the death of another animal and refuse to take responsibility. Unbelievable

I agree; You don't bring your dog no matter how friendly it is to somebody else's home uninvited, not everybody likes dogs or wants them inside their homes.
Thank you JJ for stating the obvious! I have in laws that brought a new pit bull from the pound to a family gathering without notifying us ahead of time. I had a new baby and 2 younger children and a special needs child and I was a nervous wreck the whole time! Yet I was made to feel like I was the one that was being intolerant. Don’t bring strange dogs uninvited. Period. You don’t know how they’ll react. Luckily nothing happened but you never know.
I love dogs very much and have owned many dogs. But I know enough about dogs to know that pit bulls are a violent breed. You were so smart to be careful for your children.

I used to be against this prejudice but the more I see these cases and articles, the more I am starting to believe it. I know I will never get a pitbull or trust one around my family or dog.

I know of several different people who are afraid of dogs/cats (yes, afraid of cats) or are allergic to them. There is no way that the defendants could have known about this at a houseful of strangers. Wrong on EVERY level to do this (and especially without advance permission)!

Every dog can be a killer. The difference is that Pit Bulls have a very bad reputation due to the ones trained in dog fights to kill other dogs.
This goes for any dog. Don't bring a dog to someone's house unannounced. That's really shady and careless. And a dog died because of their carelessness

I have 2 dachshunds..one of my husband's cousins that we invited to a party bought his shelter rescued pittbull..around 4-5 years old. We had no idea. It was like they were bringing their kid or grandkid or something. My dogs happily greet people at the door, so when they ran to the door, the pit LUNGED at my miniature dachshund, Stella and bit her ear HARD..she needed stitches..it was shocking, cause I literally didn't even know that any animal would be coming

The fact that the defendant is smiling at all considering the nature of this case tells you EXACTLY who he is. As much as the defendants are at fault, it’s also the fault of the plaintiffs for EVER allowing an unknown pitbull into their home. They had every right to say no, and they didn’t so they bear some responsibility as well.
Don’t blame it on the plaintiffs, it’s not their fault that their own dog dies. It’s the defendants’ because in the text messages, “the dog is very friendly and is around babies” which was clearly a LIE told by the defendants so if the plaintiffs believed that the dog is very friendly, they would’ve might not mind having a friendly dog in the house as long as it’s not a killer dog because Evelyn did not mention in the text what kind of dog is it. But once they found out that the dog the defendants brought into their house IS a killer dog and pitbull that killed their dog in front of children and witnesses on the thanksgiving day, the plaintiffs got furious at the defendants and demanded that they would pay them for a dog killing! That’s why they were on JJ for pain and suffering!

I own a pitbull for over 9 years, she is 11.5 years old currently. Although I love her, I know better than to bring her to another home where there are small children OR other dogs. I know my dog isn’t violent or vicious, I rather avoid situations that may incite violence in my dog, even though she’s very docile she still has teeth and is very strong.

She right. I have a chihuahua. He may only be 4months but I still am very careful about taking him to other places or for other people to bring their pets around and I love animals. But at the end of the day they are animals. And though my baby loves me and knows how to play i don't want any accidents where he bites or another animal sees him as dinner. No way I would have brought that breed of dog to someone's home!!!! Period!

When you are invited to someone else’s house for Thanksgiving or any other event especially at someone else’s house you do not ask to bring your dog especially if another dog lives there. This is the exact definition of a liability. I can’t imagine what that couple went through. 🤬😭

while the fault was probably 100% the pit bull owner's, why did that couple not lock their little dog in a room once they saw that it was a big pit bull? (or ask the pit bull owner to lock their dog in the backyard or a spare room?)

The text messages from the plaintiff say that the defendant's dog should be tied up in the backyard. Why would they have to hide their own dog in their own house. Lesson learnt, just don't accept any dogs into your own house unless you know the dog personally 🤨
This all took place on the plaintiff's property, so why would they be obliged to lock their dog away. Especially if the agreement was for the defendants' dog to be tied up outside. Bottom line, defendants are at fault because their dog harmed another. Very sad situation, still.
Do we know they didn't? It was not really discussed how the Yorkie and pitbull came to encounter each other (and the defendant told so many fibs the little he said on it is untrustworthy).
@@SG-mj3dj the pit bull and the owner were absolutely at fault... I feel really bad for the little 3-pound dog.... If I was in the same situation, I would put the little dog in my bedroom or somewhere safe. I would NEVER allow those two dogs to come into contact with each other, no matter what.

I know it can be tough to make plans when you have a dog. You can't leave them alone as long as you can a cat. But asking to bring your dog to other people's gatherings is unfair and puts them on the spot.
