I remember walking home with my brother once and one of our neighbors let his vicious rottweiler sit on the front porch with the gate unlocked. As we started to pass the house the dog got on all fours and was ready to attack...To say I was terrified was an understatement. Well, not only was that neighbor a careless dog owner, he was also a alcoholic because there were about 4 or 5 40oz empty beer bottles on his curb. While I was shaking and crying my big brother told me to get behind him. My brother grabbed 2 beer bottles and broke the bottoms off with sharp edges and told me to do the same. Once that dog saw that we were ready, he sat his ass back down. My brother stood there and said "come on b**ch" finally, the dog ran to the backyard. If it wasnt for my brothers quick thinking and fearlessness we would have been severely injured or killed....Folks please be responsible with your dogs, they do bite and they can kill....

@@amaliarr32That's unfortunately not always true. I know there are sweet pitbulls that are well cared for. But, there have been pitbulls that were raised right, showed no previous aggression and ended up mauling to death a family member or another person outside of the family. Pit bulls accounted for 82% of the attacking dogs in 2023, inflicting 92% of the 131 attacks on children, 58% of the 283 attacks on adults, 81% of the 69 human deaths, and 63% of the disfigurements. Later the number came in, 73 dog attack deaths in 2023 and 57 of the deaths were by pit bulls. It's a fact that there are dogs that are less likely to bite or attack a person or another dog, other pets. Many homeowners can't get insurance on their house if they have a pit bull. There are also other dog breeds on the banned list. Dog breeds that are more likely to bite also includes small dogs like chihuahua's for example. Different dog breeds do have different temperaments. It's just that a person has a better chance of surviving dog bites or dog attacks by certain dogs Pit bulls and pit bull mixes are involved in a significant portion of dog attack fatalities. Yet pit bulls make up only 6% of the dog population. Of course training dogs correctly, socializing them, providing a loving home is important too.

You have to be loud.. I was chased by two aggressive dogs down the street in Houston & the only thing that got them to stop was for me to come towards them in an aggressive way whilst barking a bit louder than they were (I think this scares them more than yelling normally would as often times they will only be intimidated if they feel their prey is more dominant/stronger than they are).. so having a deeper bark would signify this.

Actually it's usually mutts. Pitbulls are actually very friendly dogs. Labs are way more vicious. Dog attacks are usually mix breeds.
It’s not the animal that’s vicious, it’s the people who raised them without proper training
arguably, not clear cut whether bloodlust is inherent to the breed, or the reputation makes certain owners raise em to be..
@@amaliarr32That's unfortunately not always true. I know there are sweet pitbulls that are well cared for. But, there have been pitbulls that were raised right, showed no previous aggression and ended up mauling to death a family member or another person outside of the family. Or causing serious harm, removing large chunks of body parts. Too many of them will not just bite someone as a warning to a person. They set out to kill, to eat a person, to tear them apart.
It's just that a person has a better chance of surviving dog bites or dog attacks by certain dogs

"It's how you raise them." Okay, so I'm supposed to just assume everyone raised their pit bulls right? They get out of your house or yard and we're supposed to just hope that it's not aggressive? These dogs aren't only a threat to the family but to the rest of the community.
Well what about the husky that attacked a kid yesterday in houston? Ban all huskies?!
Well It’s more or less our own responsibility to protect and defend ourselves. You see how the man with the gun is protected. Yeah I advise you to take advantage of our sacred 2nd amendment. Plus houston has a stray dog problem so It’s not just about the owners. Stray dogs become more aggressive over time.

At least one dog had a collar so likely not strays, btw, noticed that.
@@brandonthomass So...I carry a gun for protection from humans and now dogs? If I feel as though I need to carry a gun to depend myself from a specific breed then that's saying a lot. I can see how people like pit bulls. I volunteered at an animal shelter and they can be very calm and sweet and if they didn't have the reputation of turning on people and attacking them, I'd want one. I lived on military posts over the years and they are always banned. They welcome labs and I had a 110 pound black lab for almost 10 years before we had to put him down due to health reasons. He never came close to being aggressive with anyone. He loved every human he met. I'm sure labs have attacked in the past but obviously not enough to be banned from apartment buildings.
@@Karmen2010 Chihuahuas and Poodles are way, way more aggressive than pitbulls, and bite more people. But a bite from one of those miniature pop-eyed manic demon dogs rarely take someone off the census for good. It really is the case that it's down to bad owners rather than bad dogs, but everyone thinks they're a good owners and they can control their dogs. Until they can't. Labradors, as it happens, are pretty exceptional in their demeanour and it is hardly fair to compare any other breed with it, because they'll all come off second best. But pitbulls rank low on the scale of aggressiveness - even Collies are (much) more aggressive. Yeah, that's Lassie... but again, when a pittie goes off the rails, it's likely to have serious consequences.
has nothing to do with how theyre raised.. a few years ago two pits killed a 14 month old while he was being babysat in walworth county wisconsin. the dogs were raised around children and had the best lives never showing any signs of agression until the very moment they snapped on the boy and his babysitter, killing the boy.. his name was daxton borchardt and may he rest in peace.

Be a responsible pet owner, or don't have pets.
yeah, these dogs seem to be dangerously unpredictable at the most inoportune times.
They’ve been bred for fighting, so when they get out of their puppy phase, they become the dog fighter they’ve been bred for. Most pit owners are not responsible like you were. I’ve had horrible experiences with these damn dogs & breeding them should be banned. Period.
This almost made me cry. Im elderly too, pit bulls are the only breed im leary of. They go after children and old people. I think it's Canada and Cali that you have a million dollars insurance coverage to own them.

These dogs are bred by evil people who want to extort their strength ability for fighting ,Like I said in my over 20 years there only been 2 pitbulls I could not help and they sadly had be euthanized , they had endured so much abuse at the hands of the dog fighter that even in them getting along with other dogs the danger was their hate of men and distrust which I sure understood but still couldn't take a chance of someone being hurt either ..

Neighbor with the gun probably saved all those people, only one that stood a remote chance was the guy with the pole trimmer. those dogs were using pack tactics, they were alternating strikes too basically bleed and exhaust their prey, once that dude hit the ground they most likely went for his throat to finish him. that little box cutter blade wasnt gonna do much they break fairly easy and most people ive known who carry them have dulled the blades from work use.
