This is so fascinating. Human's curiosity is so powerful and beautiful that something as inconsequential as finding a specific way to finish a level from a 33 years old game as fast as possible is still absolutely mesmerizing. The knowledge about 4-2 is useless for humans as a whole, it won't help us transcend our knowledge, increase the efficiency of science, medicine, etc. but just the fact that that knowledge exists and that it's possible is enough to drive a bunch of people to discover it and I think that's just absolutely gorgeous.
Humans can get really obsessed about pointless things. The guys who figured this stuff out could have mastered the cello or won an olympic medal with the time they spent on it.

One frame rule*
and now kukie i going to attempt to save the final frame in 8-4 IL
In a way, it's the same principle: 4-2 is the hardest framerule to save.

Two speedrunners clip into a bar

A third warps in from a parallel universe
They broke the laws of the universe so they went to gay baby jail
Both complete the level then argue consistency of the clipping for 20 hours
Video games are so beautiful. They're new worlds with new rules and we act as scientists as we try to break them and learn new things about them
Every game has a lot to discover
Super Smash Brothers for Wii U, for example ;)
ayyy GimR what's up dude? SummoningSalt's video's totally remind me of the Smash Documentary
GimR's Lab just like breaking project M, huh?
GimR's Lab calm down you should use your brain to get knowledge on something a little more useful for humanity
GimR's Lab why you here also when the next video
This is so fascinating. Human's curiosity is so powerful and beautiful that something as inconsequential as finding a specific way to finish a level from a 33 years old game as fast as possible is still absolutely mesmerizing. The knowledge about 4-2 is useless for humans as a whole, it won't help us transcend our knowledge, increase the efficiency of science, medicine, etc. but just the fact that that knowledge exists and that it's possible is enough to drive a bunch of people to discover it and I think that's just absolutely gorgeous.
agreed, it says more about humanity than anything.
I love your way of thinking and deeply relate to it. I'm actually astonished by how well you put this feeling I had into words.
It's just really amazing how we're ready to give so much worth to something so small, it shows how truly caring humans can be.
Humans can get really obsessed about pointless things. The guys who figured this stuff out could have mastered the cello or won an olympic medal with the time they spent on it.
now speed run street fighter!
Imagine being an actor excited to play your first role in hollywood and character you're playing is named "xx_420_blazeit_xx" lmao 😂
"Oh no my 5 minute speedrun was ruined"
Werster: "You wanna talk about misery"
Werster is a soldier in all honesty
What is a werster?
Engineer Heavy he is a speedrunner who always seems to find shiny Pokémon on his Pokémon speed runs. If you don’t play Pokémon, a shiny Pokémon is a Pokémon who is a different color than normal, has an 8000 chance of appearing, and has a special animation that takes up unnecessary time on your speedrun
Werster runs games that are almost 100% dice rolls. If he gets mad, he deserves it for expecting anything out of such RNG-heavy games.
Engineer Heavy he’s generally a Pokémon speed runner and has lots of hilarious RNG moments all throughout. The dude gets crazy lucky or crazy unlucky
Great story telling. I don’t care about speed runs but I sat through the entire entire video with delight.
I've never heard of speed runs and I still don't know what a 4-2 means but when Blazeit found that 2nd hole in the wall I was like "mother of god...."
4-2 is the level. As in World 4, Level 2.
Same, I barely even played Mario in my life and I still felt proud of the guys' triumph.

Twin Galaxies "Runs that use glitches are illegitimate" also Twin Galaxies "Todd Rodgers' impossible records are perfectly legitimate"
Top relevant meme, there.
Finally they have taken down Rogers records. I think it was yesterday.... they finally have realized that it is harmfull for they reputation. Rogers is now completelly banned from the site....I was really happy when i saw this message in my news :)

"If you make the game think you are further to the left and go down this pipe it makes you go to the wrong location"
TG: OK.
"If you go off the right side of the screen it puts you left"
TG: Wait that's IlLeGaL
wrongwarping down a pipe is an exploit of an intended mechanic, but the vine clip thing is a glitch
@@epekka so they intended for u to be able to warp to the wrong location by pushing past their 112 pixel limit?
Twin Galaxies never allowed the wrong warp at all. They generally don't allow any bugs. That's why speedrunners don't care about them.
@@EebstertheGreat Also, they think it is generous to give the speedrunners up to 16 pixels as a leeway over the cap of 0x0755=0x70, as they stated that 0x0755=0x80 is considered cheating as 80 is a negative hexadecimal value, and they knew that this value remains positive throughout the game.

I mean... ever played an online game? That's probably the most common type of gamer tag next to various exploits involving other gamers' mothers. Play Overwatch for an hour and you'll engage in combat alongside such genius sounding members of society as BongKing69, YourMomzMine96, TokeCommander, and the ever popular 420Wizard. The thing one comes to find is that shit means jack shit... they could turn out to be what you expect... some 30 year old welfare recipient stoned on his couch and munching Cheetos... but so often they're also your neighbor or CEO, and they're just fitting in or, more often, you're forced to capitulate your buy-in on the stereotypes.
For God's sake, my GT used to be Tripping Moose, and I'm hardly Timothy Leary. It's just a funny gamer tag. Funny how many people want to dismiss that anyone with a drug related user name, though. I'm a computer programmer, btw. Not expecting that from the gamer tag? Yeah... welcome to 2018.
