This series has provided invaluable tips and information, and I'll currently go start a new RoG game. Then I looked at your video list and figured "Yeah, this'll be several hours of interesting and entertaining content". You have earned yourself a subscriber, sir.
Thanks!! Your experience kind of sounds like me when I first got the Don't Starve Franchise. Had all the stuff - played vanilla for QUITE a long while before I even did RoG, and took WAYYYYY longer to really get into DST or Hamlet. Hell of a deal though in terms of cost per hour of entertainment!
Hey salendrak, I am a really experienced don’t starve player and I play this game since 2016. Even though I have survived for many years but I still like to watch ur videos. Great guide as usual! Cool tip about the bee fence, I did not know that! I always site my bees a good screen + away from base anyway, due to spring - and also because I often play as Wendy and Abigail just can't seem to leave those bees alone...
Funny that you didn't mention the lightning rod and flingomatic. I'm half way through my first spring and my base burned down three times already. Happy to have made it so far, but it was kinda harsh to see all my berry bushes burn. Killed 4 volt goats on the other side of the world, got no horn. Still alive though! And you certainly provide the best guides on how to do this.
Ooops! Having built all those in the fall I didn't really think about them in terms of spring mechanics. As for the flingo - I generally don't bother with them. Far too many chances for something to go wrong even if you manage to get full flingo coverage for your base, which is why in summer I pretty much always either go underground, or re-locate to a smaller summer base.

Have you seen my WX-78 adventure mode livestream or the adventure mode episodes of the Wagstaff playthrough? I was planning to make a guide for adventure mode, but just never quite got around to it...

Why thank you, kind sir! And no, unfortunately, short of a mod perhaps, there's no way to silence the little buzzer. Honestly the only thing I keep him around for is the goop, so you could just keep his flower far enough away to stop the noise, and grab the goop every now and then. Or something like that!
I really enjoy your content! You have such an entertaining way of teaching all there is to learn about Don't Starve. I'm a pretty familiar player to Don't Starve and I learned quite a lot thanks to your video series. Keep up the great work!
I had don't Starve for year shit only played it a tiny bit, thanks to your series though I felt I might actually not Starve for once and I just got past my first winter. Even killed eyeclops, but ate the eye when trying to inspect it lol. I'm trying to get past adventure mode now though I don't know if I should with my current world since I'm using Wigfrid and the infinite winter is rough. With that said, I still know barely any of the ways to use each characters abilities to help me both early and late game and I was wondering if you'd ever consider making guides on them in the future?
You ate the eye. YOU ATE THE EYE?!?! ... ... Yup - been there done that too! Also on accident!! 😆 As to your question, yes, yes, and yes! I'll likely to a full adventure mode guide after I finish the basic seasons of RoG, and at some point will do a Character's overview of each RoG character, detailing strengths and weaknesses and whatnot.
I found something really weird in don't starve reign of giants. So, in a tumbleweed i found a weird PINK blueprint, and guess what was inside it: a thulechite crown blueprint! Sadly, after I learned it, i did not got it in my crafting tab, and i didn't got sanity, but it was a very weird luck...
Wow - I don't think I've ever gotten one of those! But per the wiki (just checked) that can happen, and as you saw, the recipe still requires the Ancient Pseudoscience Station and you don't get any sanity from it. But yeah - really lucky drop, just completely useless unfortunately!
Love your content pal. Usefull and of course at the very least somewhat entertaining ;) When is your summer guide comming? I'm struggling to pass my 1st summer still :p
Hahah - YAY! I think you're the first to acknowledge the "somewhat entertaining" line 🤣 Summer guide will be the next DS guide. This weekend is a Wagstaff playthrough, next weekend will be a Terraria guide, then Don't Starve Summer Guide after that. So two weekends from now!
I know you're probably completely over OG Don't Starve, but I'd love to see more content for it, especially from you, everybody just makes guides for DST, and honestly it's just not as good as DS with all the dlc. Id really love to get more dlc, but that's never going to happen, everything is all about multiplayer nowadays.
Yeah - sadly I think there's basically no chance of a future single player expansion. At some point I'm planning to do guides for Shipwrecked and Hamlet, but just haven't gotten around to them. Only other guide that was on my list for Reign of Giants was Adventure Mode, but also just haven't gotten around to doing that. Maybe later this year, perhaps?

2:29 actually there was a bug showed by James Bucket that made you get dryer in Shipwrecked when you try to surf on the opposite direction of a wave with a lot of waterproff clothes. Don't know if it still works
Rewatching this for my new Maxwell world. I’m currently going with a rain hat and backpack. Should I go to the trouble of fighting tentacles for a rain coat? I normally rely on an eyebrella for spring and summer but sadly didn’t get a Deerclops. As an additional Maxwell question, should I carry around my night armour/dark sword and codex/nightmare fuel everywhere I go? I might feel the 4 inventory slots harder if I don’t have a backpack due to a rain coat
I generally go with an umbrella and football helmet if I don't have an eyebrella. Yeah, you'll get a little bit wet if you use a tool or weapon, but you typically dry off pretty fast, and it's not like Maxwell has to worry about sanity! The night armor and dark sword are just an armor and a weapon, one of each you should always have with you anyways. The Codex is far more situational though. I generally leave it at base, and only take it when I'm specifically planning to do something with the puppets. Generally speaking though I pretty much always prefer to use a backpack instead of fill the slot with a weather-related clothing item.
And miss out on all those potential frog legs?!?! But yeah, that is certainly true for anyone who suffers from ranidaphobia / batrachophobia (I had to google that LOL)
i love these guides a lot i have no question about DS but terraria on the other hand: 1.i need a pylon village location ( the wiki has one but it doesn't consider prices ) 2. i am going to battle the destroyer with the fetid baghnakhs strategy i am going to use : Full titanium armor legendary fetid baghnakhs 3 blade staff summons (work in progress) Accessories: star veil-charm of myths-warrior emblem-power glove-moon charm-ankh charm i have terraspark boots in vanity slot if anything goes wrong any tips to not die ?
I'm not sure I understand question #1. I always set up several pylon villages locations, but don't stress too much about prices. There are a few NPCs for whom I always maximize happiness (Goblin, Angler) and then generally try to keep everyone else at least somewhat happy. At some point I'll do a pylon guide that will have my recommended organization. As for question #2 - I've heard of that sort of strategy, but never actually tried it myself. Give it a go and let me know how it turns out! Personally, I usually go with Daedalus Stormbow.
rip 3 destroyers They were killed in the same minute using the fetid baghnakhs i even skipped Queen Slime 1st phase at the cost of half my health and destroying skeletron prime hands in short time (i don't recommend doing that tho i almost died several times because i was to close to the hands)
I'm embarrassed. I was doing pretty good, I jumped through a wormhole, but then got attacked by a treeguard, after getting slapped in the face, I decided it's time to go and jumped back through the wormhole (which was right next to my base) after I healed up, I wanted to go back and fight the treeguard. But the second I jumped through the wormhole, it turned night, I tried making a torch, but the darkness and the treeguard did a wombo combo on me and I died.
On default seasons, I believe that Autumn and Spring are both 20 days each, and Winter and Summer are each 15 days. Old bell blueprint learned from mining Glommer's Statue, and once learned crafting recipe shows up in your magic tab. Materials are Glommer's Wings (he drops them when he dies) and a Glommer's Flower (can be fresh or dying flower, when it's Glommer is dead). I am on a quest to learn to make the perfect homemade queso sauce. So far I have not succeeded.
Salendrak: "rabbit holes close...who cares???" Me: bro, you need them for the prestihatitator and if you start in spring without shoveling the holes because you don't know it works you can't craft the cool amulet, which is pretty good for summer (well, never used but it's probably worth it)
Shhhh - I haven't covered magic yet! I'm honestly not sure I've ever used the chilled amulet. Seems overall pretty expensive for what it does, has low lifespan, and everything it does do can be done much cheaper by other methods. Usually I hoard my blue gems so I can get a snow Chester (though many would argue that Shadow is better).
Absolutely! For the most part, the stuff I cover in these videos translates over extremely closely (if not exactly) to DST. The biggest differences are the new bosses and additional features unique to DST.
@Salendrak I have a question why moosegoose is not laying egg I have been watching her for roughly one day and nothing's happening she just wandering around
YOU WIN!!! I think you're the first person to ask about that, but it's the "Waltz of the Fallen Sister" version I personally created for my "Tears for Abigail" video I did back at the end of November. I rearranged it just a little bit so I could use it for background looping music for guides and whatnot.
As in the MooseGoose? If you're in single player, each seasonal giant only has about a 66% chance to spawn in any given season, so unfortunately, sometimes you just get unlucky and don't see a particular boss for a while!
Any time!! LOL But for seriousness, I would recommend that you are comfortable surviving at least a full year in Vanilla or really good at Fall, Winter, and Spring in RoG (there's no "Summer" in Adventure Mode). You can't bring anything with you into Adventure Mode though, but between worlds, I'll often bring a stack of gold, a walking cane, a Tam 'o Shanter, and maybe some food. There's a lot of personal preference though, and it can vary based on whether you just want to super rush through it or take a more casual approach.
Btw you're really good at making tutorials and when you're done with OG DS or ROG could you do shipwrecked and Hamlet later? I don't think you'll need to make any character guides cuz there's already a good ones that exist
Yup - I'll get to Shipwrecked and Hamlet eventually! Though if you've seen some of my community posts, the truth is that I've never played Hamlet before. But will be soon! 😉
@@twisomethingsomething3415 Actually, when I start playing it I'll be going in basically totally blind! I expect I'll die a lot as I figure things out LOL
I made it to spring haha and can I ask, what should I do with my meats? I was thinking of making a ham bat but I still have my tentacle spike.. They're almost about to rot ;_;
Throw them on a drying rack to turn them into Jerky, turn them into eggs, give them to the pig king, cook them and make a meat effigy - there's LOTS of options!!
It can be fun, but I don't know that I necessarily recommend it. In single player DS you can still overheat even in the cased (in DST you don't and nothing catches fire) but you don't overheat quite as fast as on the surface. But making it a goal to live completely underground for a full year can be a great way to test your skills - give it a try sometime!!
i have a weird wormhole that takes to a 2 screens sized island literally next to that wormhole at first i thought it was trash but i started thinking of things to do with it do you have any ideas because the only idea i have is to make it a panic room (like a doomsday bunker)
Heh - fill it with tooth traps and run there for hounds, giants, etc? I've heard of people making specialized farms of one sort or another on such islands, but haven't ever done anything like that personally.
Hmmmm - only thought I have are these. 1) Did you (or anything else, like tentacles in the swamp) kill it before it had a chance to lay an egg? 2) Did it spawn and then you left the area completely? Not sure if this would would cause it to not lay an egg, but could make it really hard to find said egg afterwards.
@@salendrak The first time I saw her, I immediately listened to your guide about spring to know how to kill her and make her lay an egg. I read somewhere that if your to close to her, she won’t lay an egg so I took her further from my base (The Moose/Goose spawned at my base). The seconde time, she also spawned at my base and she didn’t layed any egg the first time so I took her even further and she still didn’t layed an egg (maybe I just didn’t saw it) and now I want to kill every boss but and don’t consider Moose/Goose done if it’s without her egg. Should I just let her walk as she want and she will eventually lay an egg ?

@@salendrak why does it sound so familiarrr?? i swear its from a cartoon or something i used to watch as a kid but i cant remember which.. maybe it was chip and dale? dammit cant remember but the moment i heard it, it was sooooo nostalgic
Short answer - DST started out as basically a multiplayer version of Reign of Giants, but since release has had a TON of updates that have added additional content that isn't present in RoG. It's also balanced for multiplayer, so most mobs and bosses have more health, for example. So extremely similar, but still very different in many ways. For a longer answer, go search the Don't Starve Reddit for that question and you'll find at least one post every couple of days asking the same thing LOL
That, my good friend, is what happens when you ring the Old Bell in single player Don't Starve. And honestly, it's been a while since I made that video. Thanks for the reminder of that intro!! And no, unfortunately, short of a mod perhaps, there's no way to silence the little buzzer. Honestly the only thing I keep him around for is the goop, so you could just keep his flower far enough away to stop the noise, and grab the goop every now and then. Or something like that!
@@salendrak Yup, I do it for the goop. And to lean my head up against his butt from time to time. ;-]
I really enjoy your content! You have such an entertaining way of teaching all there is to learn about Don't Starve. I'm a pretty familiar player to Don't Starve and I learned quite a lot thanks to your video series. Keep up the great work!
Thanks - and welcome aboard!!
As to your question, yes, yes, and yes! I'll likely to a full adventure mode guide after I finish the basic seasons of RoG, and at some point will do a Character's overview of each RoG character, detailing strengths and weaknesses and whatnot.
Awesome, glad to hear it and look forward to more content in the future!
I think you're the first to acknowledge the "somewhat entertaining" line 🤣
Summer guide will be the next DS guide. This weekend is a Wagstaff playthrough, next weekend will be a Terraria guide, then Don't Starve Summer Guide after that. So two weekends from now!

I hate starting in spring, the first 5 times I was hit with spring and rained on I was insane within moments
It is definitely more challenging compared to fall!
hey man recently started playing ds again your vids helping a lot
Awesome - welcome back to Don't Starve!
Could you do a video on how to download and run the mods your use for the seasons, temp, and mini map? I’m struggling 😅💕
I can probably walk you through it. First things first though - did you purchase the game through Steam?

2:29 actually there was a bug showed by James Bucket that made you get dryer in Shipwrecked when you try to surf on the opposite direction of a wave with a lot of waterproff clothes. Don't know if it still works
Interesting! But worth the durability hit to your vessel? 🤔
@@salendrak if it's only a log raft, surely. If it's your armored boat, it can resist but it's only a waste of durability
Please make a summer one!
It's on the list! Next one is Periodic Hound Attacks, and after that will be Summer 👍
Going into the caves is a great way to avoid frog rain

Thank you very much - will do!!
i love these guides a lot
i have no question about DS but terraria on the other hand:
1.i need a pylon village location ( the wiki has one but it doesn't consider prices )
2. i am going to battle the destroyer with the fetid baghnakhs strategy
i am going to use :
Full titanium armor
legendary fetid baghnakhs
3 blade staff summons (work in progress)
Accessories: star veil-charm of myths-warrior emblem-power glove-moon charm-ankh charm
i have terraspark boots in vanity slot if anything goes wrong
any tips to not die ?
I'm not sure I understand question #1. I always set up several pylon villages locations, but don't stress too much about prices. There are a few NPCs for whom I always maximize happiness (Goblin, Angler) and then generally try to keep everyone else at least somewhat happy. At some point I'll do a pylon guide that will have my recommended organization.
As for question #2 - I've heard of that sort of strategy, but never actually tried it myself. Give it a go and let me know how it turns out! Personally, I usually go with Daedalus Stormbow.
rip 3 destroyers
They were killed in the same minute
using the fetid baghnakhs i even skipped Queen Slime 1st phase at the cost of half my health and destroying skeletron prime hands in short time (i don't recommend doing that tho i almost died several times because i was to close to the hands)
@@aMarvelousLute Nice!!
Classic Don't Starve gameplay right there!
How many days in spring before summer?
How to get old bell?
Do you like cheese?
On default seasons, I believe that Autumn and Spring are both 20 days each, and Winter and Summer are each 15 days.
Old bell blueprint learned from mining Glommer's Statue, and once learned crafting recipe shows up in your magic tab. Materials are Glommer's Wings (he drops them when he dies) and a Glommer's Flower (can be fresh or dying flower, when it's Glommer is dead).
I am on a quest to learn to make the perfect homemade queso sauce. So far I have not succeeded.
Nice!
😁
Salendrak: "rabbit holes close...who cares???"
Me: bro, you need them for the prestihatitator and if you start in spring without shoveling the holes because you don't know it works you can't craft the cool amulet, which is pretty good for summer (well, never used but it's probably worth it)
Shhhh - I haven't covered magic yet!
@@salendrak I can't delete comments but the - animal you're talking about- is actually better, yes.
Can i follow the guide even if I’m playing dst or are there some big differences?
Are you sure she didn't wander away from where the egg was? In DST she stays close to her nest, but in single player she is prone to wander off!
Oh ok
Well I was playing in mobile
What's the spring cleaning music cover? 1:13
YOU WIN!!!
I think you're the first person to ask about that, but it's the "Waltz of the Fallen Sister" version I personally created for my "Tears for Abigail" video I did back at the end of November. I rearranged it just a little bit so I could use it for background looping music for guides and whatnot.
@@salendrak sorry I think I might have known if I've been watching your channel more it's been a while so..
Day 45 and I still haven’t found the big bird thing(I started a new world after that other one that I got to summer in)
As in the MooseGoose? If you're in single player, each seasonal giant only has about a 66% chance to spawn in any given season, so unfortunately, sometimes you just get unlucky and don't see a particular boss for a while!
@@salendrak ah okay well apparently I’m really unlucky as deerclops and moose/goose didn’t spawn.
when is the perfect time to start adventure mode?
and what do you suggest to bring?
Any time!! LOL
But for seriousness, I would recommend that you are comfortable surviving at least a full year in Vanilla or really good at Fall, Winter, and Spring in RoG (there's no "Summer" in Adventure Mode).

What buzzards spawns in rocky land biome or it's set to more?
Yup - that's normal. Desert and Rockyland are their natural habitats!
I made it to spring haha and can I ask, what should I do with my meats? I was thinking of making a ham bat but I still have my tentacle spike.. They're almost about to rot ;_;
Throw them on a drying rack to turn them into Jerky, turn them into eggs, give them to the pig king, cook them and make a meat effigy - there's LOTS of options!!
Do you recommend making a cave base and staying there for summer (or even year-round)?
It can be fun, but I don't know that I necessarily recommend it. In single player DS you can still overheat even in the cased (in DST you don't and nothing catches fire) but you don't overheat quite as fast as on the surface. But making it a goal to live completely underground for a full year can be a great way to test your skills - give it a try sometime!!
Salendrak Wow - I have only played DST so I didn’t know that
i have a weird wormhole that takes to a 2 screens sized island literally next to that wormhole
at first i thought it was trash but i started thinking of things to do with it
do you have any ideas because the only idea i have is to make it a panic room (like a doomsday bunker)
Heh - fill it with tooth traps and run there for hounds, giants, etc? I've heard of people making specialized farms of one sort or another on such islands, but haven't ever done anything like that personally.
It’s been two spring and the two moose goose I got didn’t layed any egg. Anyone knows why ?

What is the different between dst and reign of giants dlc?
Short answer - DST started out as basically a multiplayer version of Reign of Giants, but since release has had a TON of updates that have added additional content that isn't present in RoG. It's also balanced for multiplayer, so most mobs and bosses have more health, for example. So extremely similar, but still very different in many ways.
For a longer answer, go search the Don't Starve Reddit for that question and you'll find at least one post every couple of days asking the same thing LOL
