Just came across this series while looking for Don't Starve content and you've won a subscriber! Really well put together, excellent narration & humour and I love how you see in advance (in the editing stage) where your audience will call you out, and put annotations on the screen - like oops, missed a gold. I'm fairly good at the game, I can survive for a long time if I don't do anything too risky, but my weakness is fighting the boss mobs so I'm looking forward to some hints and tips there, especially for the weaker characters. Learned a couple of handy hints in this video too so that's awesome! I'm also tickled that we seem to plan our storage chests the same way :D
Great minds think alike! I was testing a new dedicated server with some people from my discord server the other day, and while I was off picking up kids from school, they took the time to organize the storage using my method. Made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside! 😊
I hope you continue these series! I think you are doing a great job and they are for sure more helpful than any of the other videos I've found on youtube. Thank you!

Just started playing this game with friends and out of all the videos this series has been the most direct, informative, well organized and structured. Hope your channel grows man, keep it up!
Thanks!! At some point I'll do some DST specific guides, but for now the majority of the single player stuff is directly applicable to multiplayer. Have fun with your friends!!
in my current game a treeguard spawned while i was near beefalo so i thought 'hey i'll try that trick where you circle the herd and get them to fight for you' and the treeguard ended up killing so many beefalo it was crazy, i ended up with 20 meat 15 hair and a horn. and the guard wasn't even interested in me anymore after he was done. he just wandered like he'd lost his purpose in life. even when i went back to cutting trees he'd wandered too far away to notice. poor guy
Hey man, first of all great series. Thank you for all the work you put into your videos. I just have a question. Why would you mark down the mushroom circles? What’s special about them?
Easy way to get lots of mushroom without running all over looking for them! Green mushrooms are great for going crazy to farm nightmare fuel or restore sanity, blue are very versatile, and red make good crockpot filler!
I pretty much use my switch as a Steam console(with normal Nintendo games as well). I pick up random games on sale with minor research and they sit dormant until I get around to them. Dont Starve is one of them I cant even remember what I got it for but it was worth retail. Your guides have been very helpful. Still haven't made it past winter. But am improving quickly. Made it to day 24 before getting hungry and reckless.
btw, when you transplant berry bushes and grass you'll need to activate them by adding manure. otherwise they sit there doing nothign and looking a grayed out color than the normal ones you haven't transplanted.
I'm here again, I managed to survive until day 59 but the hounds killed me, I'm having a hard time with those, I usually use the buffalo to protect me but this time I went far away from my base to collect materials and they got me, a lot of them. Your videos are great, but it's to much information to process xD, the thing that I need to learn is how to fight properly, I managed to survive because I mostly avoid fighting because I suck. Ps: Sorry for the bad English.
Your English was perfectly fine, actually! But yeah, this game has a LOT of info to juggle in your brain as you're learning the ropes. I generally recommend a cycle of play the game, watch some guides, try to apply what you learned and play the game again, then re-watch some guides, try to apply what you learned and play the game again, then re-watch...you get the idea!
Here's a tip for nighttime: fireflies can be used as a light source so if you want a stupider version of 'chicken with Charlie' and don't have torches, just run in between two fireflies or walk away for the one and only most stressful experience in the entirety of don't starve!
Heh - have you seen the Wagstaff episode where I was in the ruins and my lights went out during the nightmare phase? That was a pretty stressful moment!
Bruh some of these tips are brilliant iq feel your brain getting smarter every second. I've subscribed when I watched the 1st episode and liked all the others.
I always change the "force attack(mod)" to shift in the controls. Shift is way easier to press in tandem with other keys IMO, so it made punching butterflies a bit simpler. Speaking of which, is punching actually easier for butterflies? It *feels* like the punch hitbox comes a bit sooner in the animation, giving it less time to move out of your range, but that might just be me.
Kiting doesn't work on 4 werepigs at once, as I recently found out! 😀Also I can't even count how many times I've lit my crockpot on fire. I have to just unequip a torch before doing anything in my base. I'm on the switch and sadly I can't figure out how to do the crockpot and icebox open at the same time though i've seen it in many videos.
My wife has been banned from ever holding a torch while in base for that very same reason. Those things are dangerous!! As for crock-pot and icebox, on PC it only works if they're close enough together, which generally requires placing the crockpots before placing the ice boxes due to the way their respective footprints work. Not sure about switch though, but I imagine it should work the same way.
The mushroom circles are just a convenient place to go to stock up on whatever color mushroom are in that circle. Red mushrooms are good crock-pot filler, green are good for sanity manipulation, and blue are the most versatile of the three.
Who doesn't love a good dense forest walk with bearger or deerclops. Or the satisfaction of the pigman logging company and treeguard 'catering'. Chopping down trees is good and all for a while, but who doesn't love an easy way to stock up for the winter or more storage chests.
@@salendrak Hey if the bosses are going to terrorize me I'm going to put them to work first. And yes, Bigfoot is awesome :) Great vid. For some reason though, I haven't been able to find Glommer in the switch version so I'm back to basics.
Sounds like a good plan to me! A lot of stuff in guides tends to not make a whole lot of sense if you haven't played the game much, but with the time you've invested so far, I'm pretty confident you'll have more than a few "a hah!" moments watching the guides!
I made it to 30 days! But then Wilson said "That sounded huge!" so I assumed it was Deerclops spawninh, I then prepared with a hambat, football helmet, and log suit. After being out my base so I could have an open area to fight it in, I didn't see the Deerclops so I assumed it despawned, while I was right about it despawning, I came back to my base and saw that it wrecked everything. I then froze to death. :(
And also after I saw my base destroyed, I ran to Maxwell's Door and entered it, I then died on chapter 1, came back to my normal world, THEN I froze to death.
Did you plant a sign away from your base? When Deerclops spawns she will target whatever the nearest structure is to wherever she spawns, so if you base was the nearest place with structures, she probably beelined towards it before you realized she had gone that way. Best practice is to get SEVERAL screens away from your base as soon as you hear the warning sounds, plant a sign, and make a big campfire. Don't use a firepit though - it can get destroyed too!
@@salendrak not if chester is tanking. Also, chester has 450 hp, not the highest level but still high and regenerates 22.5 hp every 3 seconds. It's enough even with a spear. You need 7.5 seconds with spear, in that time the tentacle deals a bit less than chester's life plus his regeneration. With better weapons you can kill tentacle ezly.
Yup - that's the plan! Currently working on a Don't Starve guide (hopefully done next week) and after that I think I'll start a play-through in Don't Starve as well as a Terraria one in Master Mode "For the Worthy".

I personally prefer having f as action and space bar as attack, for a better use of the thumb. Then, making c the 1st slot swapper makes you way more reactive. But you're free to do what you want (is this sentence right? I'm not english).
I personally use a Razer mouse that has numbers 1-12 under my thumb, which makes swapping really easy. Good idea on the swapping F and Space though - combat / kiting with F can sometimes be tricky depending on what direction you need to move, but having attack on Space would negate that issue. I might try it!!
Keep at it - as you get more knowledge and experience your in-game efficient use of time will really help you to prepare for the season changes. Try to be ready for winter's cold and summer's heat at least a few days before the seasons change, and you should be good to go!
Hopefully sometime in the next month or so. I've got a few more episodes in my Terraria series I want to get done, then I'll get back to my Don't Starve guides starting with a food guide :)
"New players generally move about the world using their mouse" This line is kind of bugging me It feels like you're forgetting the console and mobile versions
Fair point. I've always only ever played on PC (little bit on mobile, but never on console) so my guides are all from that perspective I guess. On the plus side, if you're on console you don't have to worry about mouse movement anyways!! Problem solved! 😆
Ohh I didn't know that bee hive fire and ice trick. I just run around until the angry bees are far enough and go back to hit the bee house which is fun but dangerous🤣 Btw I made a mistake of destroying a bee hive near my base and now several homeless angry bees are running around my base hitting poor chester :(

It seems like I'm making a mistake play8ng this on console xD I don't have hotkeys
Nah - I know plenty of people that play on console, and they do just fine!
Whare is the next part
Just came out!
I've been playing for 2 days and I have only survived a max of 4 days in game.
Keep at it - you'll get better bit by bit, and soon enough you'll be a long-term survivor!
Are you still going to do future episodes?
Yes! I will be getting back to the Don't Starve series after a few more installments on the Terraria one. Hopefully in the next month or two!
Heh, if what if you create a video about the mobile controllers? But it isn't so needed
I honestly don't even know how I would record footage from my phone LOL
@@salendrak Really. U hasn't so many memory
Have we got a new pewdiepie on our hands? let's see in 7 years
Hahah - but probably no. I don't think I have the right sort of personality :P
When’s episode 4
Hopefully sometime in the next month or so. I've got a few more episodes in my Terraria series I want to get done, then I'll get back to my Don't Starve guides starting with a food guide :)
Great
Thanks!!
omg thanks so much
You're most very welcome!! 😁
"New players generally move about the world using their mouse"
This line is kind of bugging me
It feels like you're forgetting the console and mobile versions
I just run around until the angry bees are far enough and go back to hit the bee house which is fun but dangerous🤣
Btw I made a mistake of destroying a bee hive near my base and now several homeless angry bees are running around my base hitting poor chester :(
Single player bees are some of the hardest mobs in the game to fight if there's more than one or two of them - they're like special ops snipers!!
so what happens when you have low sanity
Ohhhh nothing much. Mostly strange sound effects, you start seeing shadow monsters, and eventually they turn real and attack you!
thanks for saying!
But but im playing on the switch 🥺
Nothing wrong with that! The game still plays just fine!
@@salendrak That means that I'm just awful at the game then 🥺😁 I'll have to binge watch your videos again.
