James Pretty is like a kid with animals. He is always bringing home a stray old truck that he finds somewhere. I love his channel!
Some of the best money you will ever spend is sending a couple of good guys to school. Yes you will spend a little but you will gain something special. The guys will get more confidence and show leadership to others. It will reflect in your trucks. Great stuff Tim
¹
If you send guys to school, you are investing in them. Anyone who you send to school should be made to sign a contract. It dictates that,in the event of them quitting before a certain amount of time, or they wind up being terminated for cause, during that time period, They’re required to immediately repay the cost of the school.
You don’t want someone taking advantage of the schooling and leaving you out of pocket the expense, without you getting any benefits.
I totally agree for the most part but these days it’s an “employee market” and the younger generations seem to have no allegiance whenoffered more money elsewhere.
@@rodleypumpkins4174 The current crop of 20 something’s I have dealt with seem to have little drive, want to text instead of just speaking and wouldn’t have won WW-2. You have to hold their feet to the fire with expectations. If they don’t live up to them, you have to terminate them. You don’t have time for lethargy or malingering on the job.
Pick me lol
I’ve been watching James Pretty for several months. He starts every video with a warm greeting and a weather report. He’s a hard working man. I get worn slick just watching him now, but 20 years ago I could have stayed with him. He’s got a good channel on UA-cam and it’s gratifying to see his channel grow. 👍
I’ve been watching James as long as I’ve followed you. Great guy, loves trucks, saves trucks, and he has a MARMON, a MARMON! You cannot get cooler than that, glad you all got together. Just like the Gentry’s, Pretty’s are good people.👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
You are one cool boss being willing to help your employees and send them for training if it's needed not many people would do that so much respect to you Tim
Tim you have a great attitude, employers like you are far and few between, I spent my life in the mechanical field 40+ years. I worked for and with a lot of good and bad people, but you always remember the good over bad. Buying all the tooling to work on a wide range of equipment is a big investment, some employers don't seem to appreciate that level of commitment when it isn't coming from their pocket. It's not often you come across someone like you with your level of understanding and appreciation for the people working for you, keep forging ahead and best of luck to you, family and friends.
Thanks Tim. I’ve been following James for a minute.👍👍👍
Hi Tim. This is old school from an old retired truck tech. If you put it through just one heat cycle and re-torque all of the bolts it might be a more successful job. If I’m to late and it’s on the road, take the very first opportunity to do this. Great work and I’m a strong fan.
The biggest thing I like about watching this channel, is that this company is so much like who I worked for out of high school and vo-tech. It’s not a corporate business where employees are just a number. Y’all seem to be a good close group of hard working folks. And I do truly envy Billy Rethwisch’s fleet!
Hey Tim hope you are having a blessed day! Love the content keep up the good hard work we enjoy it!!
God bless y'all brother your doing a great job with the trucks and company and family. Take care keep um coming brother
Yes Tim I watch his channel to I love what he does with the old trucks like you do and I love your content to
Love your UA-cam. My name is Clarence Smith I can't get enough of it. I never drove a big truck in my life. Some day I would love to meet you and your family. I just love 😍 it's. God bless you and your family
Glad you guys got together. Two of my favourite channels. Cool stuff Tim :-)
Been following James for a while, yours an his are the best.
Yes you are James has a great Channel also. You guys both do a great job.
Hey Tim
I like your transparency and taking ownership of what happens in the garage.
Great Content
Some of the best diesel mechanics I worked with never stepped foot in a classroom. Schooling isnt for everyone
It was nice to see James pretty on your Channel he's a real good guy
Hey Tim love the International comfortable rider drove one for about a year great video you are the man ❤
I am always a fan of moving the tanks back and putting proper steps at the door. Nice stacks and a headache rack. Just a good formula IMO 😉
Been watching for a while I'm glad to see someone has a love for old iron and willing to spend the money to build and put the old iron back on the road again. I hope your old lady gets her Pink truck and maybe she will be grinding some gears and enjoy her own truck.
Cool! James' channel is awesome!! If you love old iron, you'll love what James rescues and works on!!
Your one amazing owner operator and a pleasure to see you running your business and dealing with the peaks and valleys in all businesses. Even if you don't add another single truck..you are a success and your kids will cherish what you have built. Investing in your techs is an excellent idea and will greatly increase their skill sets. I feel great joy in your success and your hard work ethic is truly impressive. It can easily be said of the Gentry and Son legacy nobody's given you anything but you earned it from the sweat of your brow..just as it's written in the old testament. Continued prayers for you and your family for much success going forward.😇🙏🇺🇸👌⛄🎄
You are a terrific person Tim with family friends and employees we want to see you finish the freightliner that you just painted red and black
Your a hard working man and it shows ❤❤❤ Gentry and Sons!
Tim your only human so yes everyone makes mistakes!!! We love your channel and content so prayers to you and your family!!!!
Love seeing the man in charge say that something wrong is his fault. That's the trait of a true leader. Keep up the great work, by far my favorite channel on UA-cam.
Tim you guys are good people I really do enjoy your contents and look forward to them every week man you have grown a lot from you just started your videos 7:20pm
TIM REMEMBER SH_T HAPPENS ..ALWAYS KEEP MOVING FORWARD...DON`T SWEAT THE SMALL STUFF...FIX IT AND MOVE ON... RESPECT ALWAYS ...IT ALWAYS FALLS BACK ON US IF SOMETHING GOES WRONG...YOU WORK REALLY HARD ON YOUR BUSINESS. GOD BLESS U AND TEAM..
Great idea in getting training for your guys. you can't do everything forever and you will never be perfect. surround yourself with great people and your success will continue for sure.
yea its crazy just in the past 15-20 years how much its changed . It used to be a fella would strive to become a mechanic or any position and was grateful for even an unpaid internship to learn the trade before you get hired as a trainee and after years you finally learn enough to get certified and be a actual mechanic . Everyone wanted their own box and tools and was proud .... now days people if you can find one that will work expects everything and not spend a penny , work is sub par at best and there is no pride at all most of the time .... people now days are soo entitled its mindblowing
GOD Bless Gentry Family!!!! Love yall!!
I think two 1/4 fenders and 2 stacks on each side and a few chicken lights on the sides will look awesome love the color looks great Tim God bless yall.
I’m 48 and I still have the little tool box and all the tools in it that my dad gave me when I was about 8 years old. I remember being so excited the first time I bought my first snap on screwdriver set.
Happy new year and Christmas day
I love James Pretty, he is the king of truck lovers and he bust his ass working on them. Mack Super liners ride pretty good. Tim I am self employed and I am exactly in the same scenario you are in, I work on diesel engines small ones though. But I live in the shop and people can't believe the stuff I fix. Shit happens, I always run a tap in the head bolts on the block when I do a head. I learned the hard way just like you. I totally get it. Some people are born mechanics others are not, you can't skip steps it has to be 100% or nothing.
There still a big achievement is getting a big nice organized snap on tool box all your tools and a nice work truck
Dude you are awesome guy you're a good father good husband take care of your kids you're an awesome boss you do the best that you can that's all anybody could ask from you you'll get there little bit of patience and you will be there on that note happy holidays Merry Christmas to you your wife and the guys at the shop take care of yourself Tim love watching your videos
Hay Tim great video good seeing James and Jessica I want to wish you and your family Merry Christmas
James is a AWESOME guy great channel
That’s real cool James went over!
I have been following and watching his channel since day one.
Thanks for all your video.
A beast of a cabover
All the more reason to get your little brother in that school up there
I'm always impressed with your drive, attitude & your attention to detail on your entire operation. I think you'd get your money back sending 1 or 2 techs to a real mechanic teaching school. It'll release you of some of the burden you should be able to delegate.
Hi Tim I have only one thing I wanna say I hope you don’t get mad but your workshop could be a bit cleaner mate it’s only my thing I love things being clean ..I use to wash my truck at midnight ,my neighbours didn’t like it but that’s life ….Merry Xmas and happy new year best wishes God Bless ❤️❤️😃😃👍👍🦘🇦🇺
Damn that cabover looks good hooked to that Cattle wagon 💪🏾💪🏾😎
I remember driving a flat nose in the 70s, in Montana, belly dumb and freight,
wow I would love one of your diesel pickup their beautiful but I live in canada Im looking for a diesel pickup but I can't afford to buy one. thank you Tim for a great show. I hope who ever wins it will keep your sticker on it to advertise you
I watch all your videos and I enjoy every second of the tim keep grinding brother
Good job on red international with the water leaks. It take a big man to own up to the mistake the other has done. Show leadership. I wish that truck could be a bull hauler truck.
THE GENTIES FAMILY ROCK, A VERY HARD WORK FAMILY THAT I ADORE. KEEP THOSE WHEELS TURNING TIM.
@𝑻𝒆𝒙𝒕 𝒎𝒆 𝒐𝒏 𝒕𝒆𝒍𝒆𝒈𝒓𝒂𝒎 @gentry0 Hi Tim did you receive all my other messages my friend.
@@youtubemonitors1202 that tagged name is a scammer. I’ve been reporting about 20 different accounts on this channels for close to a month
Yea we are watching over here buddy!! Keep doing good work!
You're doing awesome and wish I could have a boss like you and also I wish I could've done what you are doing with my dad but he passed away 5 years ago so now I'm working on getting my ducks in a row and buy my first truck and do this with my boys merry Christmas and a happy new year
Happy new year and a merry Christmas my favorite streamer and person I look up to
I remember a time when if you borrowed a mechanic's tool you had to sign your life away, your wife, your car, your house, and your credit cards on the promise you would return the tool, and put it back in the proper drawer, and tool location, and for it to be cleaner than you borrowed it. man the mechanics loved their tools, and they were gleaming bright chrome, but also made it really nice to borrow tools. yeah sending mechanics on a refresher course will help improve the quality of work, maybe doing it as a group thing would help with team spirit as well.
I remember those days, before power tools lol
Keep up the great work
James has a very good UA-cam channel too I watch him all the time
👍Great job!
Respect from the UK
I love cabovers and love this one
Happy holidays to u and the family 👪 and many more enjoy the video 📹 and tell your son to keep up the video 📹 to he got hi head on making that money 💰 that a young man TIM U AND THE CREWS DO A GREAT JOB ON THE TRUCKS
You are very correct about James Pretty's UA-cam channel. I joined his channel at about the same time I joined your channel.
Between James and Derek at vice grip some of the best old school rotten stuck in the mud automotive and truck channels lol them guys can get anything running and drive it home most of the time lol.....then on to the internationals thing yes I just went loaded a trailer with one of our 9400i and man the room compared to my classic is amazing I missed it there for a bit love my classic though
U will TIM KEEP YOUR HEAD UP
I spotted your blue FLD with a couple boats on an on ramp on I40 west in Arkansas this morning. I thought no way can't be but it sure was. Be safe out there
I love both of y’all’s channels
the last truck i had was an international , 455 cat, 13 spd, 355 rears , it sent me into bankruptcy , it spent more time in the shop then it did on the road , since then i've stayed away from internationals , most of my engines were cat, from their i went company , like said i wasn't a mechanic , still love watching you'll working together as a team in stead of against each other , God Bless you'll and keep inspiring us brother
You are a good guy Tim and its good to see you investing in your employees and promoting James Pretty channel. I enjoy his videos too but he is a one man band and projects take a bit longer than on your channel. but your both good guys.
And I'll watch him all the time I grew up in water Run Michigan up there and that's where he is hanging around Ypsilanti up in that area too
Hello Hey Hi and Howdy Team Gentry ...Happy Holidays Y'all,,, ...
Tim really enjoy your channel I've been watching for a while I don't comment as much as I should but you made a few statements tonight cleanliness starts at the top wear your clothes keep your hands clean at all times tools never get put up or left out without being cleaned guys never go home until the shop is clean I owned a shop myself for a long time I spent many of Sundays of cleaning floors and wiping walls but it starts at the top and works his way down they don't do it unless you do it buy you the best steam cleaner you can afford I'm very lucky I live near an asphalt plant but asphalt millings work the best on them parking lots keep the mud down
Hey Tim I have always said you and James was kind of like y'all don't let a truck go out unless it's done right especially old trucks and y'all love them to death you got to love what you doing in order to do it and you two guys are definitely like that and for the truck with the water leak like you said a lot of people don't tighten one down the way you and your dad do and I hate to say it but you got good guys man you know but if you have to send somebody to school to learn to how to do the right way oh well they just have to go to school but this was a good video as usual and the contest was good I loved it and I can't wait to see what you do next man
The late 1970's early 80"s International Tran Star's are my favorite.
Merry Christmas to all of the family
Already subscribed to his channel like his stuff👍👍👍🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

That is one thing that I do not miss about Tennessee! It could rain for days!
I live in Ohio what I hate is the gray skies for days & sometimes weeks that's when my mood gets gray too
Scambot
Hi Tim your show is the best I love it. I would love to win one of those trucks but I dont have a cdl. I hope who ever wins it can make good use of it. your trucks are the best
Great video Tim thanks for sharing!
Put about 4 long studs in the block put gasket on then the head gasket and bolt holes are Lind up then take out studs
Tim you was showed the same thing I was growing up these new wrench turner's don't know how to listen to the truck when it's running it will tell you if it's sick I we are a dying breed bud
Merry Christmas to you and your family timmy
on the red international tim put some hogebuilt half fenders on it and some sick 7 inch bull horns on the back it will look great
Hell I come work for you. You know how to run a tight ship and keep it real which isn’t something that you come across often. I’ve hauled cars, equipment, drive out in the oil field and drive a heavy wrecker now. Got all my endorsements and clean driving record
Hey Tim the international needs red quarter fenders,it would complete the look.
Good beautiful chilly afternoon brother
I watch your channel everyday and I done getting where when I see trucks hauling boats I catch myself looking for your company decals
I'm just a plant worker that is laid off until the first of the year I only have Wi-Fi right now or I would message you in telegram but I can't if you wanted to give me a prize then a true prize for me would for you to feed someone in need that would be the greatest gift
It's a great channel awesome content
yeayyyyy your younger brother needs that school even though he thinks he knows it now..
Dang man I just seen you come thru the pilot truck stop here in Knoxville…nice rig my brother
I have found the best (maybe not the “right way”) and easiest way to patch a small hole in a metal roof like on Tim shop is with a small piece of roofing material that is used on the roof, Tek screws with a gasket, and 3M 5200 adhesive/sealant
Morning fr9m here to u all hav a bless3d xmas and happy Nyear all the way from the land of the long white cloud NEW ZEALAND ..
I say put some round stacks with rain flapper caps like tractors and maybe put some diamond plate half fenders on that truck and I also know what you need for the cabover and red international some ih logo mudflaps
I went to UNOH here in northwest Ohio. You should check them out. Great school with programs that are focused on the work and not the politics. All the instructors are from the workforce. They offer both training diploma and degree programs.
