It is always sad to see old equipment being permanently retired, you lose a bit of yourself, orphan but rich of memories.
Hi Tim Seeing the old Ford wrecker brings back memories of one I operated back in the early 80's for a Shell full service gas station in Cocoa FL I operated 3 different wreckers back then a holmes 850 on a 1960's GMC cabover a holmes 600 on a Ford F600 and a holmes 440 on a Chevy 1 ton I loved it.
it's amazing when show respect to people and show that your word is good and not afraid to get dirty , i always said what you put out is what comes back , i love how Braxton seeing things like you do, may his heart always lead him to a well deserved life, God bless you'll , may God always keep you and all those around you in his grace

One good thing about being the boss is you can tear up the equipment. 😂 That tow truck looks like it has a 3208 Kitty Cat in it, about a 190 hp. they scream pretty good, they are a throw away engine and pretty cheap to replace but they are bullet proof.

What you might want to think about Tim is to ( later on of course) get a big banner made to hang up in your new shop with your company logo in the middle and all of your trucks going around the outer edges all in color. That would look fantastic.

Part of your cleanup should include scrapping down several inches of soil in the areas where a lot of oil/fluids has saturated the ground. It’s good for the environment, place will look a lot more professional and most importantly it might prevent issues with state environmental department.

Problem is when he goes to the scrap yard he sees something he wants to take back. Which can be good too.

The 1160 is the Predecessor to the 3208 Caterpillar….nothing to write home about, but they get the job done. Old L9000 is in VERY good condition…
I had that same set up years ago--1160 CAT -Holmes 750 on the L9000 Ford. Mine came out of Maryland. Did a good job for my friend up there--and got us started in the towing business in Virginia...

I’ve noticed something . Must be a east coast thing . Motors use electricity to run .engines work day combustion . I do know a few things about both power units . S . A . E . Grad 1968 . YES those booms extend and you can pull the pin and split them too.. gantry has support legs that pull out n drop so you can pick off the side.. they work well for undecking Trucks.. but it IS a lot of work .. Manual labor.. hand crank the booms down and back up. spent many hours operating one like it.
