People forget most UA-camrs that have projects like this only do UA-cam or have a 9-to-5 Tim is running a larger company that takes up his entire time the fact he has time to even work on projects is awesome!!!

Plenty of other guys have channels and do projects like he does and run full time businesses, and they actually complete them. Certain one do truck projects and will it start videos among other things while trucking and running businesses. You’ll watch more of Tim’s dashboard and him driving around talking than actually working on the projects he’s got going on.

    Tim
absolutley amazing when you recieved the parcel of books and manuals
and your good self stating how it used to be, back in the day, regarding a breakdown on the side of the road, pre cell phone, internet, etc etc
on Tik Tok yesterday over here in rainy old England, ther was a comedy sketch mentioning how back in the day a vehicle manual would give instructions on to set a valve, and todays manual give an instruction of not to swallow the battery fluid
ironic is not quite the correct word but i cannot think of any other suitable that comes close
another excellent presentation by the way matey
regards to all your nearest and dearest

Makes me miss when i worked on them 20 years ago when you didnt have to worry about emissions and all the "extra" computers and sensors.

Talking about driving at young age brought back memories. When I was 11 or so my Uncle taught me how to drive his tractor. Then at 12 & 13 I drove him all over Western Tennessee and Southern Kentucky. He was an artificial breeder and he had me dive him all over. That’s how I learned. Teach em while they are young.

Grandpa would be bailing in one field and i was raking the other he said when you're done push in the clutch and pull this knob to kill it and come and get me. He always made sure i had some Redman or Beechnut or Cannonball chewing tobacco and my Uncle gave me cigars. Learned to drive an old 1949 Dodge flatbed hay truck with no brakes and a David Brown 880 tractor. Those were the days.

Thanks for the shout out. Lot of good info to refer to, from basic to ASE tech level. Tiger tool ujoint puller beats swinging a sledge hammer.
Tips: Dt466 mechanical engine that hasn't been started in a long time...at the linkage end of the pump is a poppet valve that can seize due to high humidity and won't let fuel into pump. It is lubricated by diesel and is a tight precision fit. Only takes a spec of rust for it to seize. Tedious to take apart and clean without any abrasives. Highly polished surface. Seen people pull entire pump and replace
ebuild because they couldn't get started. Lot of money wasted for a labor only. repair.
N14 Cummins....intermittent miss when driving in rain. All sensors are wired to ground thru the engine harness. One of mine had the problem and seen others. Back side of engine where you can't reach with harness in place...road salt dissolved a ground wire due to the factory butt connector not being sealed when harness was new. Cummins dealer computer scan showed coolant temperature sensor to be faulty. Cummins dealer gave written repair price for $150. They ended up with 15 hours of free labor.
N14 camshaft position sensor will wick engine oil thru the sensor and its wiring. This causes a long crank to start time and failure to start
un eventually. Requires special socket to replace.
Failing oil pressure sensor will cause ECM to enter limp mode. Key off 10 seconds, restart, engine will run for about a mile. Failed sensor, no start or run.
Mack and all engines...failing vehicle speed sensor (VSS) sends false signal to ECM and derates horsepower. Had my Mack on dealer dyno and tech said it was the best running 400hp Mack he had ever tested....I pointed out it was a 460P. That is a 487hp engine. He scanned and found 3 recorded faults on VSS. New sensor and it came alive.

The Cummins at my work make an asthmatic 250 horse off 6,7 litres and do about 5 to the imperial gallon. They are in the back of double deck buses that do predominantly city mileage though
