I just bought the A7cii for travel/video & backup to my A7RV. I truly love the form factor and aesthetics of this design. A few things to add; the "AI" really makes a lot of difference compared to the A7IV not only in AF and Subject Tracking (BTW, I mapped my back button to Subject Tracking. Now, you can lock on to a subject and recompose; who needs a joystick), but the AI processor has improved the AWB so much so that skin tones are far better. I don't think that the rolling shutter challenge will change until we get a much faster sensor installed (maybe stacked one day). For me, if I had 4k60 full sensor read - that would do it for me (I'm hoping that the A7V has it).
Yea the af is faaaar better. I’ve had the zve1 since pre launch and that was the first camera I tried it on and I was floored.
It maps me so good that it’s ridiculous. Sony is always pushing the AF to new heights, and just their tech in general.
I hadn’t thought about the skin tones being a lot nicer, thank you for that input. Will do some tests ☺️

Is the difference in autofocus between A7IV and A7CII a dealbraker? Im thinking which one of those two cameras to choose to upgrade from apsc to full frame. i like to shoot portraits, sport, animals and ill have my first wedding in the summer. Also i have samyang 35-150 and the bigger body would probably feel more balanced with the lens than my current ZVE10 😂Thanks for any tips!

hey, I have a question for you because I heard that the Sony a7c ii is "more plastic" than the first version a7c, something like the zv e1. Does this only apply to the black version or is the silver version also made of the same material as the black one?
That front dail is perhaps the main thing that makes me consider upgrading. I'm very happy with the a7c. So when I do eventually upgrade, this will definitely be high up on the list.

Yes, Sony developed a special line to be pocket sized. There are also the Samyang lenses that are small.
Awesome video! But don't know if at the end it's a game changer or all hype 😁 Would you recommend this one? I'm between this one and the ZV-E1. I do mostly video but I want to dive into photography a bit more.

Might change title lol. But yea I recommend it. Zve1 is better for video though but this one is much better for photos. 👀 dunno if this answer helps lol

Def! absolutely
I use this camera professionally, however, I'm not sure it I'd dare to shoot a wedding with it due to it only having one SD-card slot. Even though SD-cards scrambling are really a thing of the past, it would he absolutely heartbreaking if it does after shooting a wedding!
To be honest I think it’s the best full frame for street photography and casual family trips but it can also give you amazing professional looking videos all with in a small body with a fair price

To be honest if I had to choose I’d go for the A6700 cause I like the 1.5x crop factor and the cheaper APS-C lenses available for it
I have a nikon d750 - Im old skool and love the camera but I want a smaller size ff. This looks perfect, its just the EVF which puts me off. I read that it really is impossible to upgrade the EVF with a camera that size because of minimal OLED sized panels. You not mention this or did I miss it?
I'm in exactly the same situation as you. i also have a g85 which is the same resolution as this, it's ok
what do you think about the weather sealing
I just had my a7c out in a very dense snowstorm, where my friends d3500 fried and my a7c survived. It was about as wet as you could get it shy of having it out in heavy rain. Very impressed but I’d rather not do that again lol
Did you notice a high temperature after some shots?
I'm not gonna lie, because of the size I keep thinking about the A7C line up a lot lately, but I have already to many cameras right :D
Would you personally take a hybrid body like the A7C II / a6700 or would you rather take two bodies setup with you e.g. ZVE1 for video and A74 (because of bigger EVF) for photo?

Uhm depends. So I would probably go hybrid because I’m me. But I often think about getting two separate.

Damn, why did they max out the shutter speed at 1/4000 of a second? With the a7IV you can shoot at f/1.4-f/1.8 in bright light because the shutter goes all the way to 1/8000.
i'm still rocking the lumix gh4. maybe it's time for me to upgrade 😆
i've never used the lumix but if it's till good then maybe no need to switch? :)But the a7cii is great!
I come from the A7II, so this upgrade is a no brainer for the cost. The A7IV would be an option, but i prefer having the updated autofocus.

Its dust & splash proof. And petapixel said that its weather sealed just like A7iv.
A wise choice! Sure, would have been great to have 2 card slots, Zf-style, a larger grip and a joystick.
But it's great as it is, and way better than the original a7C.

Nice and compact body, but there's no getting away from the fact full frame lenses are larger. So while the body is lighter compared with the majority of full frame cameras, you're still lugging around those larger lenses.

If you are a beginner and would like to take decent photos SOOC, you can consider choosing the Fuji. A little bit cheaper as well. However if u want interchangeable lens and full frame a better AF go for Sony.
I have a Fuji x100v and a Sony a7c. The Fuji is nice if you want to shoot jpeg and not process your photos, but the a7c is way more versatile with full frame in the same size body. Also the Sony lets you choose your lenses, the x100v is fixed!
Sony will can do a game changer if they add on the 4k 120fps on a firmware update like for the ZV-E1 ! Same hardware spec between the twice, so let's go SONY, do the best for all of us!!!
Ah that would be nice, I think it’s all planned so it not killing off another camera, make one too good and no one will buy the other and it dies. Sadly.
@@thaticelandicguy sure! But i hope 😆 ! A6700 is APS-C, ZV-E1 is a vlogging camera in full frame with a 12MP sensor so maybe my wish coming true soon! (i hope again 😁)
I used to have a sony rx100 and it was a beast. Tiny in your pocket. And we all know that the best camera is the one you have in your pocket with you.
And considering I like astrophotography and low light the extra sensor size is amazing. I can recover insane details from ultra dark scenes (*cough* lightroom ai denoise *cough*).
All in all I am in love but I am here to say, to all the new entries photographers watching this, get the 6700! You will get tired of a bigger camera with bigger and expensive lenses!
the a6700 is great and hahah that LR AI denoise is way to good, ISO 20000000 no problem 😂
9:30 btw I don t think A7c line was for such pro use but more Street photographers or Leica guys

Just replaced my a7 iv for a7c ii. As an enthusiast only I valued size over some pro features.
I bought it with 16-35 II and 35-150 2.8. Downsized from R5/R6 and a whole lineup of L lenses.
My back appreciates that decision 😅

Hello Hello from France. I agrée with you with the crop factor. For me one slot don t a problem (like a6700, zve1….), Jason Morris Shaw that 1080 120 in full frame was équivalent to 4k 120 of fx30 (so a6700), so i prefer the a7c2 with it s great Isis, great 4k 24….than apsc. This is only my choice of course.

There is silent mode on the a7c and every other Sony body I have. I can’t imagine the A7CII won’t have this option

Making a video takes more than a few days. It needs planning, a script, filming and at the end of course editing.

Think about it for next time. It's not difficult to be polite.
I guess it has the same limitations as the A7iv : 10 FPS is compressed RAW only with EVF refresh rate at 10 FPS, 8 FPS compressed RAW with normal EVF refresh rate, 6 FPS with uncompressed RAW... My experience with the A7iv for sports is that 6 FPS is the right choice if you like sharp pictures anyway.
Oh, and shutter noise is nicer than the A7iv's probably because it's only half a shutter (first curtain electronic ). You should compare with the A7iv in that mode.
Ah yea I can imagine, but yea I thought that shutter sound was nice indeed. It does something when you like that sound haha
AS a Sony user for 8 years - I tried this in low light 3200-4000 ISO - it couldn't recognise faces and was quite useless - I used it for 4 days on a film studio set mounted on a crane arm with a remote control. Tried different AF setting zones (with face recog') WILL NOT USE AGAIN...

So I guess with A6700, there isn’t significant different in photography, but A7C2 is more advance (7 stops ibis) in video. I mean apsc and full frame these day if U post the results side by side, people won’t care and can’t compare again that are those photos came from apsc or full frame. unless U write the meta data then people be like “aah this full frame is better” I am sick of “full frame mindset” 😂

If you’re adding huge lenses to these bodies, I believe u should just get the a74. You’re not really saving that much space.
If an a7c II is a marketing hype then what the fuck is literally everything Fuji makes? Its just a pocket version of the a7 cameras thats all.
