When finishing this edit I felt like it was missing something and it just hit me.. The Sony A7C II is honestly inspiring to use for this type of photography. Specially the image quality you can get out of it. But once you see your composition with those Fuji film some.. you’re like “OH”.
Love a new Cam video. As a Sony shooter, for my little pet portrait business, I couldn't agree more. The Sony is a fantastic tool but it never inspires me to shoot. I didnt click with the x100v and it's 35mm fixed lens. I'm more of a 50mm guy and love my xt3 with a 50mm equivalent lens. There's just something about the Fujis that feels special
Couldn’t agree with you more I run the X-E4 and the A7C and the Fuji will always “motivate” me more to go shoot the scene for what it is, truly capturing the moment and mood. The Sony doesn’t make me get out of bed and shoot. BUT the Sony does give me that Full Frame power and crispy images I crave, and with some quick edits in Lightroom you get a masterful pic! It’s tough because I love both cameras systems for different reasons. Fuji just tugs at my heart strings though and will always hold a special place!
it feels a little bit forced and not suited to the content on screen though IMO, like i get style and preference, but dude is standing at a regular interesection and the camera and shaking plus music makes feel like it's out of the newest Jason Bourne movie... Also the anamorphic lens flare is again, completely overkill and distracting... dude has potential though, seems nice, but i feel like a more laid back editing approach would fit his personality 100% more
Perhaps the Nikon Zf is a good choice for you as you like both the retro look and flippy screen. Though it's a heavy camera specially if you want to add the optional grip
i’m an X-T5 guy. It’s like a mini A7RV in my opinion but with the Fuji film simulation. Plus you have 40 mega pixel and the latest autofocus. I actually sold my X100v because of the X-T5.
I've got the x100vi on preorder and I'm debating maybe getting the xt5 with a 16-80mm lense instead for the versatility of subjects you can shoot, but I'm not sure
@@inhardwarewetrust3057 Honestly, get the X-T5, its actually available to buy at retail price (discounted in my country atm) and you can use so many of the great, small prime lenses. Camera won't be much bigger as the X100 series isn't pocketable anyway as often claimed. I've still got my X100T and I love it, but decided on a XT5 instead of a X100v/ X100vi due to availability.
I just came across your channel and god damn i love everything about it. The quality and i mean the overall quality is crazy high. - the audio - the editing - the framing - the flow Amazing work.
I love the contrasting opinion I have about the A7CII/A7CR. Everything I love about those cameras are what you love about the Fuji’s! It inspires me to get out and shoot. Goes to show how important it is to find the right camera for you individually! Great video man!
Dude I kept thinking of you while filming haha!!! And now as I’m typing this I’m realizing I should have freakin gave you a shoutout. Cause you show how it can be used in the same way. But the question is, do you wish Sony had film sims?
@@cammackey all good brother! I agree with what you said about Tyler’s video. Being able to import film simulation profiles is the biggest thing that Sony cameras need to really be able to compete. I believe it will come eventually. Personally it doesn’t bother me all that much since editing the photos is just as fun as actually going out and shooting. It’s so rewarding when the edit comes out how you envisioned while out shooting!
@cammackey there is now Sony film simulations using the picture profiles. A guy Veresdenialex started playing with it and they are pretty incredible. I'd love to see you review them. Truly a game changer for Sony cameras.
Hello. I've seen a video about these simulations for Sony. Did you try them? And are they easy to implement to the camera, and you don't have to fiddle a lot to get them good? @@CrispyFloat
I love the look of the Fuji but the complaining about the photos being boring on the A7C II when the photo actually is just a parking lot is a bit too much
You missed the point.. cause that same “boring” photo thru the Fuji viewfinder looked amazing. Also, this is an art form. I’m sure I would have opinions about your boring work as well cause we’re all different artist.
Well it borders on wanting the camera to make uninteresting things look interesting. Also since you brought up myself, I love nature and I live in Hawaii so I don't like to put a heavy filter on my images. I prefer a camera that represents reality (at least as a baseline), and you would consider that boring haha. Also I have never taken a photo of a motel parking lot in mid day and thought that it would be interesting with any camera so we just different bro @@cammackey
15:41 - "If I have to choose" Your eyes were stuck on the X100V 😜 I own it and I agree with your statement. It inspires you to go out and shoot. Love my X100V ❤
I've had every X100 including the v. But I switched from the X100v to the A7cii because of the autofocus. Sony's AF is unmatched but it's always been Fuji's Achilles heel. Also, I only shoot RAW so I don't care about the colors SOOC. Yes, the X100v is a lot more fun to use but IQ is the bottom line. If an image is out of focus or just not sharp, it doesn't matter how much fun I had making it. Just my 2¢. PS - I love your channel. Keep up the great work!
Agreed, for client work! But for personal work.. I don’t mind more “errors”, keeps it feeling human. But def for like high end fashion work.. Sony all the way.
@@cammackeyi was just leaving the house fora fun roadtrip. IN MY 2022 BRONCO!! HAH!! Wondering if I should grab the a7c with the 40mm or the X100v or the X-e4. Your video popped up!!!! Michael Neumann One World Productions. Oh I think I saw your x100v on ebay with that skin!!!
I might be biased but honestly, I've been shooting for years with my XT-3 for weddings and I dont struggle with autofocus at all, sure other brands are way more advanced, but still I dont see this problem in real life, and I imagine that the XH2 autofocus is way ahead of the XT3, so I always find it funny this whole debate about autofocus, maybe you're doing sports events and you need a faster AF
@@catbread2585My XT3 was horrible. I even tested it on a tripod in controlled light and it couldnt grab my wifes eye with Fujis best lenses. I determined it was a lemon, moved to Canon, and its lightyears better.
The best camera you can have is the one that inspires you to use it. The one you can’t wait to use and makes everything look amazing. If the pictures look too clinical and perfect it doesn’t resonate with me either, it’s like life it isn’t perfect you need that grittiness like a sun bleached desert oasis that has lost its glamour look. Time gone by and taken its toll on things can be very sexy in my opinion. Love the way you convey that through your pictures and videos.
This was fun to watch. Thank you. I’ve shot Fuji WAY more than Sony but a lot of my shooting is family, kids, travel … and being able to just aim the camera, compose and KNOW focus will be on-point is so valuable to me. The A7Cii does that and it’s so easy to shoot/control one-handed. Some of my shots are landscape and the 33 FF sensor > 40 crop sensor for this IMO… from my use. Fuji did it right with the X-T5 though.. light and nimble!
I was SO SURE about getting the Sony A7cii for christmas.. but now I'm TORN!! Please someone help me ! Should I just get the Fujifilm x100v??? or the Lumix s9? Lumix Siix? Ugh SO MANY OPTIONS
Agree. Still keeping my Sony a74. Like the fitment in my big hands. Full frame look. But my x100. Is perfect small. The look of the photos. It’s a great combo setup.
I have a x100v and just bought a a7cii. I agree with the Sony being boring. Had to order your Sony film presets to help give it a nicer look😊. Great video
I love my X-T5, but I have to say- it's interesting that I think you're the only photographer I've seen that would actually want a swivel screen on it! 😂 I haven't used a swivel screen yet, so I don't know where I stand on the issue, but I genuinely appreciate your honesty on that ❤
You perfectly summarized the difference between shooting with Sony and Fuji. I have had several of each, and the number of times I would randomly pull over to get a photo of a tree or a cool old house or a bunch of dogs by a fence or just random sh1t with the Fuji was so, so much higher. The Sony A7III and A7c, such amazing cameras, but even with old manual lenses I just... didn't feel it. I couldn't get the soul in the shots. Even shots of my kids with amazing sony glass, just near perfect images.. but bland, whereas I still go back to look at some of the ones I had taken of them with the old X100S. I just sold the rest of my Sony kit and will be picking up an XT5 with the 27 to rediscover the joy. Thanks for your content. love it.
Great stuff! Currently on the fence with the XT4, XT5, and A7Cii...I just can't decide which way I want to go. Currently rocking the X-E2 & Sony a7iii...But I am looking to trade in the a7iii. What to do..what to do..
1:40 but you can have film simulations with the Sony :) you just have to add a LUT that converts SLOG3 to whatever film you want and it can shoot JPEG or HIF with baked in film sim. :)
It’s so interesting you said it inspires you to find the frame… I just did a shoot with the a7rv and the xt5! With the xt5 I worked to really properly get and frame the shot that looked good in camera. Where that was just not the experience with the a7rv. I mean I was flat out hunting for perfect compositions and with the Sony I was just machine gunning away with my model!??? Duuudde There really is something to this!?? Also I didn’t think I would like the tilt screen on the xt5 over the articulating screen. But now that I am use to it I think it actually ads to the feeling of framing up the shot 😊 much better.
Bro. You are UA-cam, Photographer and Cinematographer excellence personified! I appreciate your thoughtful, easily understood explanations without the over-the-top, camera manufacturer fanboy embellishment. You're the reason I purchased the X100V last year. Long time subscriber... Keep Killing It!
XT3 & Fujicron's currently. It's the best all-round set up for me for price, speed, colour, quality BUT I take far less images than I used to when I owned the X100T. However, I will be needing a landscape setup when I move to the country so mulling over getting the new X100 as my everyday camera and a 50r as my day trip camera.
Great video, thanks. Poor A7C ii lol.. From my experience, Sony's A7siii sensor has the 'magic' - similar to Fuji. I rented an a7C ii and used together with the zv e1 to kinda compare. White balances between the two always off - they seem harder to mach than you'd think with the different sensors. Super different colors too - A7c ii always has a green tint to it too and appears 'bland. Reminds me of the A7iii image, which I always struggled with..More magenta and pleasing to my eyes with the zve1/a7s iii. As you stated though, its more of an 'it' factor. A7s iii sensor did something so right, still haven't found another image from Sony I like more. Didn't think I would dislike the a7c ii as much as I do. The colors in general (beyond the green tint) just arn't doing it for me at all.
Awesome video. Happy New Year and cheers to another year of creativity. I feel the same way about my X100V. The experience is what it's all about. I took a pass on the XT5 but what i'm really excited for is the XPro4. I'm hoping it has all the vintage charm of the the X100V but with interchangeable lenses. Fingers crossed.
Long time Sony shooter but always liked the idea of the X100 as it reminds me of my old Leica M3. I took a close look at the X100 at 6:36 vs the Sony A7C at 6:40 with a screen capture. The Fuji saturates the picture more and also isn't as sharp making for a more dream like feeling. This slight off focus also makes part of the station's chipped paint less harsh adding to the feeling of nostalgia. Sort of like using a linoleum lens to photograph an aging painted lady.
I own both the X-T5 and X100V, and I've never done so much photography in a month than I did in a year before. the look, the feel, the tactile sensation of operating them, the image quality, the colors, the simulations, even the lenses feel good on the hand. You just.... CRAVE to go out with them, over, and over, and over again. They make you want to keep experiencing them.
@@kiezkerry3 personally any of the X100 series, or any fixed lens digital rangefinder for that matter. Not having a choice in the lens and being stuck with what you have lets you focus entirely on your actual photography, skills, etc. It at least was a great learning platform for me before I grabbed an X-T5, I'd have felt really overwhelmed had I done it the other way around.
This video made me remember my old days as I had a Sony A7II, but I was using my Fujifilm X-E1 more than it just because of a better photography experience. Thank you for this video !!
I mean, I'm still rocking the xt4 and that has a full swivel screen, 26mp sensor though, but I totally feel everything you are saying. it's my perfect middle ground and I feel it's the perfect starting point for someone that wants to get into this kind of photography and video. as always, good work man.
Recently bought an X-T50 and the Fuji 27mm f2.8 lens. That's definitely become my go-to lens for travel because of it's useful 40mm equivalent focal length and compact size. I also love the aperture ring on the lens. Add in Fuji film simulations and I am kind of understanding why some people love Fuji so much.
Have you tried to modify the creative profile: VV+, C+2, HL+2, SH+2, F+5, SAT+2, SHARP+4, SHARPR+2, Clarifty+4, AutoWB: AB:A1,GM:G1 I also use the sigma 35mm f2 dgdn comtemporary with the promist 10%. Output SOOC is much like the Fuji XT5 Kodak64 simulation.
I’ve tried everything. Nothing gets a consistent nostalgic feeling in a Sony. It’s not just about twisting the WB into weird hues and adjusting contrast. The Fuji sims are shifting individual hues, tweaking the film curve, and adding hue shifts throughout the contrast
Thanks for this video, i just sold my A7IV. And I am like, should I get small body and use my lenses, but I am not pro... i want to have fun...will get myself fuji x100vi. Cheers
Are there a number of Sony lenses now with the aperture ring? That's something I love about Fugi. Did you say that was a 40mm lense? Is it a g-master? A general purpose e-mount zoom with aperture ring (28-75) would be great.
Thanks for the video. Very happy with my A7CII and A7CR but still own my X-E3 and it’s 24 Mpixels because I like interchangeable lenses but the 27mm lives on it mostly. With my A7C bodies I tend to use a variety of Sigma I-Series glass all at F/2. I’m just a stills shooter though with all of the cameras. Would like to see Sony or Sigma create a 28mm full frame lens for these cameras.
@@bennieferinga9609 Actually already own the Sony FE 28mm f/2 but it really is not up to modern GM or even G standards for a full frame. I do use it on an APS-C body as a good but not even very good 40mm equivalent. No aperture ring on it like I have on almost every other modern Sony and now Sigma I- Series lenses.
I’m a Fuji shooter. I used to shoot Sony, A6400 and ZV-1. Switched to X-T4, and recently got X100V. I get SO MUCH more fun with Fuji. (BTW, 95% of the time I shoot with vintage Canon FD lenses with Metabones speedbooster.) Your video kinda explained to me why I like my XT-4 + vintage FD lenses set up. I’m getting to realize “what type of picture” do I like to create. Like, “Sabotage (2014)” ‘s last gunfight scene. “The good The bad and The ugly( 1966)” Angel Eyes’ “When I’m paid, I always follow my job through.” scene “Sicario” “Time to meet the God” scene. Thanks so much for making these videos. I’m a huge fan.
X100V or the XE4 with a 23 F2 lens (35mm equivalent)?? That's my biggest question? I am planning to buy one as an edc fun travel camera, but I can't decide... I also own the FX3 and A7IV but I use them for work.
There is a way to add film simulations on Sony cameras using the picture profiles. I use them on my zv1f, they come out really nice so I can imagine they look 1000x times better with a ff camera and better glass
This is why I shoot fuji. Gone through each of the BIG three, and there's something quaint about Fuji that really fits from my ideas, to feel, to simply how I see colour; and it's slap-bang.
Curious if you’ve played around with the Sony “creative looks” on newer cameras like the a7cii. They may not be a match for Fuji’s film simulations, but are vastly improved compared to filters on older Sony cameras. The FL and IN looks are especially good I think and can be improved through tweaking.
I have and they do nothing for me personally. I just end up putting it back to normal cause I find them so pointless. Sony makes some of the best cameras, they just need to work on the inspiration side of the art now!
The camera that motivates you most to take pictures, but the pictures of which are looked at the least.. is that the best or worst of cameras? I guess it all depends on how you look at “taking pictures” and “having taken pictures”, doesn’t it?
As someone older, we only used those because it’s what was the best at the time. The Sony image now is way better and you can mess with it more in post to get whatever you want
Totally agree with your final thoughts. For those who work with large and complex cameras all the time, a fixed lens invites you to slow down and enjoy the essentials of photography. New suscriber here! Greetings from Chile
@@cammackey i like 35mm mostly so I think I will give a shot for the 40mm because that is the closest to 35mm and have a bit more compression than the 24mm. Thank you! I love your videos keep it going! 🤘🏾
I used to use LUTs for stills in my Sony a6400. I don't know if was meant to be used that way, but there was nothing preventing me from shooting stills in Picture Profile 11, where I had Slog2, and then in Lightroom I had my LUT's imported as Color Profiles. Bit of a hack, but it worked. But I would LOVE a simple straightforward in camera option to shoot stills with LUTs, bake it in the JPEG etc.
The Sony A7CII in this video (and other Sonys) CAN use user LUTS in camera directly as you said. But that means the user has to do the work and find appropriate LUTS versus what FUJI does, so officially HIGH QUALITY Luts for different LOOKS BY SONY would be welcome and I don't understand why Its taken so long.
So I'm surprised you didn't consider something in the Fugi E series. You have a range finder and can change lenses. Hopefully they will continue to upgrade features.
Great video! For the flip-out screen you could always get a X-T4. It‘s a great camera although the autofocus could be better. I shoot with a Canon R6 II for a lot of my work-related stuff but for most of my personal work I shoot with my Fuji X-T2,3,4. Great cameras and a lot of fun. They just make you wanna shoot.
@@Eyeofkamau Yeah but if you use it mainly for photography it doesn't matter. I have also seen a side-by-side comparison between the X-H2s and X-T4 where F-Log2 is actually worse than F-Log1. Haven't compared it myself though.
@@Eyeofkamau You are right. But from what I understand he would like the flip-out screen even more although to be fair, he mentions F-Log2 specifically and the 40-MP sensor as two great things about the X-T5.
I liked the review, liked the scenes. But I totally disagreed with you XT5 analysis, I adore the backscreen as it is. Flipping screens are irritating when you use your screen as a viewfinder, because your view would be next to the camera and not in line with your subject. For me a flipscreen would have been a dealbreaker. I respect your opinion, but I thought your vlog was perfect without the xt5 as your vlogcamera!
Just curious about your thoughts on megapixels for your personal work. I get that higher megapixels are good sometimes if you have certain types of clients, but would love to know if you think 20 ish megapixels will be enough for you.
I actually love the XT5 for video. I don't Vlog, so I have no use for a flip out screen. For street scenes or B roll, I enjoy the discreetness of not having the flip out. Waste-finder type viewing with that type of video works well for me. That said, the A7Rv type screen should be the standard now! Oh and I agree about the Sony...they have amazing tech, but have no soul.
Longtime fuji user who picked up an a7c used when the mkii came out. I miss the joystick desperately and actually missed more shots on the sony, but the improvement in low light performance is dramatic. Shooting in aperture priority is much better on fuji, though, as i have a button assigned for iso/min shutter speed combinations. But i still cant get over the huge difference in low light performance.
Have you tried the xh2s ? It may not be a7c quality but it is best out of any Fuji I have used, in fact paired with the right glass it is fantastic, AF is still not Sony standard though but high iso when processed in C1 is great 👍 not overly impressed with my xh2 and xt5 as much though 🤦♂️🤷🏼♂️
Well if I had to choose from those 3 for stills, it would be the XT5. Easily. But I chose the Nikon Zf as ‘my’ camera. Lumix S5ii & S1H for video work. Early days, but the Zf for me is capturing the feeling I used to get from Fuji X100’s, XE’s and X Pro’s, just more capable than all of them.
Debating between a7c II or a7 IV I don’t care about cII only having one sd card slot. Which do you think would be best in the long run to grow into it (amateur skill right now) will use for photography and video
many many hate the swivel screen which is why they went back to what is on the X-T5. When shooting photos, I find it INCREDIBLY slow to deploy for a quick high or low angle have to swivel and flip vs just quickly angling the screen
I have a Sony A7riii and Fuji X100S. Like you said, Sony is better in every way, but I still take more photos with my Fuji because it inspires me more with the the film simulations and design.
Look forward to your take on the x100vi. This video certainly influenced my preorder, as I’ve been looking for a lowkey camera to get into photography with. The new video features & IBIS made it a no brainer
I rent the Xt5 to use it on my recent vacation, came back home and sold all of my sony gear. Yes Sony is great don't get me wrong, they have great autofocus and just a beast of a workhorse. But I found myself feeling like I needed more. I opt to go with two Xt5 bodies and the Xh2S for my videos and I'm very happy . I was a bit nervous when people mentioned about the autofocus on the Fuji. Went on my trip and my hit rate was about 95% to me that's still well above what I had expected. Love the colors it makes editing so easy at times I just retouch the skin and leave it as it because of how nice it looks right out of the camera.
Thanks for another banger of a video. You definitely go out of your way to tell the story in a cinematic way. You mentioned the X-H2s being amazing for video. I recently picked up one, but can’t seem to find any updated videos on best settings for specifically video shooting (most videos on UA-cam seem to be made around the time of this camera launch, and things have changed like software updates to focus) Could you do a video, in your excellent storytelling way, showing specific settings for different use cases ( ie. day/vs night shooting)? I do believe that video would get tons of views. Lastly, many of us are new to the Fuji platform. ALL the videos I’ve seen on video settings for the X-H2s JUST show what settings they’re using, but NOT what to set up FIRST. Like do we go into manual mode first….set up overall settings for the camera that become like the master settings, then go to another area on PASM dial to dial in presets for C1-7? Like not even Fuji has best practices on this. It’s frustrating. Most books, long videos etc are primarily focused on photogs. Thanks for the consideration. Cheers 🍻 2024

Thank you and agree. Older but Xt3 and a6700. Sony look on back screen is a little off but the image is neutral and the video is beautiful but the fuji look is fun and the controls are nicer.
Great video. Love the cinematography in this and the colors. I own the XS-20 and it's basically a mini xh2s with a few concessions for it's tiny size but it does have the flippy screen.
Great video, very inspirational - I understand your pain - for the last eight years I have used two cameras - a Leica X typ 113 and a Nikon Df. The X is Leica's closest version of the Fuji X100 series, and the Df is just another thing altogether. I am now thinking of resurrecting my Route 66 trip from here in the UK that has been on my bucket list since before the covid era.
I spent a lot of time comparing the Sony A7C and the Fuji XT-4 … I went with Fuji, I couldn’t get over Sony’s small viewfinder…nothing has changed with their latest… couldn’t do it and at the end of the day I love my Fuji
I own all the newer Fuji camera body’s XH2 , XH2s , XT5, but it seems like a good fit for this video to compare would have been the XS20 because it’s between the xt5 and the x100v as far as features plus it has a flip out screen and it shoots open gate with interchangeable lenses. Amazing cinematography with all your videos but especially this one great work

@@CrispyFloatthose picture profile settings are a game changer but It would be nice if it was on Sony natively
I recently sold both of my X100Vs to get the XT5 and a couple of the “FUJICRON” lenses.
Very happy with my decision.
Do you miss the integrated flash from the x100? I’m thinking about selling my x100v as well.
@@nikparra99 I don’t. I rarely used it. When I do need flash I have the EF-X20 flash to put on it.
15:41 - "If I have to choose" Your eyes were stuck on the X100V 😜
I own it and I agree with your statement. It inspires you to go out and shoot. Love my X100V ❤
The X100V will always be my favorite child haha
When you’re watching a video about cameras, becoming more intrigued with what camera the video itself was shot on.
^ this!!!! =)
99% of the time this is my thought
I can’t believe how much your video made me want to go out and take photos. I’m so glad I found your channel!!
I use the XH2’s and they are generally great but the AF is STILL not where it should be at compared to other brands.
👏
0:23 the transition is🔥🔥. Also what film simulation are you using the most?
Classic Neg! For some of the XT5 edits tho I used Nostalgic Neg, it’s climbing its way to the top of my fav list haha
The X100V. Liberation through limitation. Love it.
The quality of your film making is amazing budd
Agree. Still keeping my Sony a74. Like the fitment in my big hands. Full frame look. But my x100. Is perfect small. The look of the photos. It’s a great combo setup.
Yeah the A7RV is still my work horse!
I have a x100v and just bought a a7cii. I agree with the Sony being boring. Had to order your Sony film presets to help give it a nicer look😊. Great video
oh my... The quality of the cinematography as a youtube video is next level!!! Kudos!
I love my X-T5, but I have to say- it's interesting that I think you're the only photographer I've seen that would actually want a swivel screen on it! 😂 I haven't used a swivel screen yet, so I don't know where I stand on the issue, but I genuinely appreciate your honesty on that ❤
Well I think I’m more of a filmmaker at this point honestly haha so that might explain it 😂
I would’ve loved the xt4 swivel screen so count that as 2! 😅
Happy new year bro! Completely agree the Sonys are better in a lot of ways but just boring for photos! The x100v hits different
Im a bit confused about LUTS on the Sony A7cii. So it only has LUTS for video? Or photo as well? Cool comparisons!
1:40 but you can have film simulations with the Sony :) you just have to add a LUT that converts SLOG3 to whatever film you want and it can shoot JPEG or HIF with baked in film sim. :)
The A7CII doesn’t even have LUT support tho?
Thanks for the info! Will have to look this up!!
@@cammackeyhey cam, it does have LUT support. Is it not possible for photos?
@@ericrjennings nope
It’s so interesting you said it inspires you to find the frame… I just did a shoot with the a7rv and the xt5! With the xt5 I worked to really properly get and frame the shot that looked good in camera. Where that was just not the experience with the a7rv.
I mean I was flat out hunting for perfect compositions and with the Sony I was just machine gunning away with my model!??? Duuudde
There really is something to this!??
They make you want to keep experiencing them.
what do you think is the better beginner camera?
@@kiezkerry3 personally any of the X100 series, or any fixed lens digital rangefinder for that matter.
Not having a choice in the lens and being stuck with what you have lets you focus entirely on your actual photography, skills, etc.
It at least was a great learning platform for me before I grabbed an X-T5, I'd have felt really overwhelmed had I done it the other way around.
This video made me remember my old days as I had a Sony A7II, but I was using my Fujifilm X-E1 more than it just because of a better photography experience.
Thank you for this video !!
What anamorphic lenses did you use for this? There’s some serious pincushion distortion.
Stay tuned.

Need to try out the xs20 it’s A baby xh2s small body flip out screen 26mp
Have you tried to modify the creative profile:
VV+,
C+2,
HL+2,
SH+2,
F+5,
SAT+2,
SHARP+4,
SHARPR+2,
Clarifty+4,
AutoWB: AB:A1,GM:G1
I also use the sigma 35mm f2 dgdn comtemporary with the promist 10%.
XH2s, XT5, XS20 is my main stack. Then X100V and X Pro 2. I have a Fuji issue. 🤣. Swing through 🌵 man 💯
Thanks for this video, i just sold my A7IV.
A general purpose e-mount zoom with aperture ring (28-75) would be great.
what do you think about the new x100vi, especially in a battle with the xt5?
Zero clue, Fuji doesn’t send me anything lol
Thanks for the video. Very happy with my A7CII and A7CR but still own my X-E3 and it’s 24 Mpixels because I like interchangeable lenses but the 27mm lives on it mostly. With my A7C bodies I tend to use a variety of Sigma I-Series glass all at F/2. I’m just a stills shooter though with all of the cameras. Would like to see Sony or Sigma create a 28mm full frame lens for these cameras.
There is a Sony 28mm f2 lens. It's a couple of years since it was introduced, but it's supposedly a good and small lens. Check it out.
What are your go to Fuji film sims? I’ve been using a Kodak recipes but I find it’s a little too yellow at least indoors. I do like the Kodak B&W one.
All those Kodak recipes look nothing like Kodak haha. But usually classic neg, but I’ve been reallyyyy loving nostalgic neg

I’m a Fuji shooter.
I used to shoot Sony, A6400 and ZV-1.
Switched to X-T4, and recently got X100V.
I get SO MUCH more fun with Fuji.
(BTW, 95% of the time I shoot with vintage Canon FD lenses with Metabones speedbooster.)
Your video kinda explained to me why I like my XT-4 + vintage FD lenses set up.
I’m getting to realize “what type of picture” do I like to create.
Like, “Sabotage (2014)” ‘s last gunfight scene.
“The good The bad and The ugly( 1966)” Angel Eyes’ “When I’m paid, I always follow my job through.” scene
“Sicario” “Time to meet the God” scene.
Thanks so much for making these videos.
I’m a huge fan.
I’m moving from a6400 to XT5. I hate the colors on Sony. So bland.
X100V or the XE4 with a 23 F2 lens (35mm equivalent)?? That's my biggest question? I am planning to buy one as an edc fun travel camera, but I can't decide... I also own the FX3 and A7IV but I use them for work.
personally.. the X100V
There is a way to add film simulations on Sony cameras using the picture profiles. I use them on my zv1f, they come out really nice so I can imagine they look 1000x times better with a ff camera and better glass
I’ve tried them, they sadly look nothing like actual film or Fujifilm sims. I think LUT support in stills mode will be out only options
Once you get bitten by the FUJI film simulation bug, it hard to let go! FUJI is an ART camera. Next level down to earth vid!
This is why I shoot fuji.
Gone through each of the BIG three, and there's something quaint about Fuji that really fits from my ideas, to feel, to simply how I see colour; and it's slap-bang.
I hate the swivel out screen as a stills photographer
As an a7iv owner and Sony shooter since 6 years, I want to get a smaller EDC but can't decide which one to get? a7cii or XT5 or upcoming X100VI
Always such a cool vibe Cam! 🔥 Any overheating with the a7C II? p.s. LOVE that shot at 13:20 with your pup!
I’ve only seen the temp thing come on once when I was filming a super long head talking take
Loved this. Photography with soul. How do you fill the whole of my iPhone screen? As someone said to me in France “you have the eye of St German “
Sometimes more quality isn’t better
Totally agree with your final thoughts. For those who work with large and complex cameras all the time, a fixed lens invites you to slow down and enjoy the essentials of photography.
New suscriber here!
Greetings from Chile
Would you say the 40mm or the 24mm G lens is better for the A7C for an every day camera like the fujifilm x100v? -To document life and adventures
Depends on what you like brutha. Dont let anyone tell you there’s a rule for which lens to use. If you like 24mm, use it. I personally like 40mm
But I would LOVE a simple straightforward in camera option to shoot stills with LUTs, bake it in the JPEG etc.
as far as I know panasonic with it's S5 ii and now G9 ii are the only ones to have this feature. I'm hoping it trickles down to small bodies
Hopefully they will continue to upgrade features.
great video as always!!!
This is why every camera needs a screen like Sony A7RV
Just curious about your thoughts on megapixels for your personal work. I get that higher megapixels are good sometimes if you have certain types of clients, but would love to know if you think 20 ish megapixels will be enough for you.
20mp is def enough for me! BUT I like having mroe hahaha. 40mp is perfection for me tho. Mainly because I like to do a LOT of cropping in post.
What do you think about the x100vi? Basically a xt5
What are the best cameras you recommend me for portrait and weddingphotography
Well if I had to choose from those 3 for stills, it would be the XT5. Easily. But I chose the Nikon Zf as ‘my’ camera. Lumix S5ii & S1H for video work. Early days, but the Zf for me is capturing the feeling I used to get from Fuji X100’s, XE’s and X Pro’s, just more capable than all of them.
Oh and paired with the 40mm f2, a focal length that is somehow just right for me and preferable over 35 or 50.
Imagine if we could jsut have all of those cameras in one or two bodies from the same company haha
Debating between a7c II or a7 IV
I don’t care about cII only having one sd card slot.
Which do you think would be best in the long run to grow into it (amateur skill right now) will use for photography and video
a7cII for travel, a7IV for work
many many hate the swivel screen which is why they went back to what is on the X-T5. When shooting photos, I find it INCREDIBLY slow to deploy for a quick high or low angle have to swivel and flip vs just quickly angling the screen
This is why every camera needs the Sony a7rv screen
I have a Sony A7riii and Fuji X100S. Like you said, Sony is better in every way, but I still take more photos with my Fuji because it inspires me more with the the film simulations and design.
What camera strap is that? Looks like it has the Peak Design clip but its a leather strap, would love to get one for my Fuji
Clever Supply Co!
Love the visual style and the subtle camera movements.. good job 🎉
Have you used in camera LUTS/YOUR LUTS on the Sony for PHOTOS? as a kind of "film Recipe" Filter type as Fuji?
Would you prefer if the new X100 camera in the series has the 40mp sensor or the stacked 26mp sensor?
40mp!!
Have the XT 5 a Film simulation filter like the
x100v??
What is this aspect ratio?? I love that it fills my screen
2.35:1
Bro I love your video and your outfit. you mentioned the X-H2S. does that one have overheating issues? because i heard the sony c7II doesn't.
Super cool videos! Really appreciate your work man.
Also I wish Fuji would make 27mm f1.4ish. The world would be perfect🤩
Thanks for another banger of a video. You definitely go out of your way to tell the story in a cinematic way. You mentioned the X-H2s being amazing for video. I recently picked up one, but can’t seem to find any updated videos on best settings for specifically video shooting (most videos on UA-cam seem to be made around the time of this camera launch, and things have changed like software updates to focus)
Could you do a video, in your excellent storytelling way, showing specific settings for different use cases ( ie. day/vs night shooting)? I do believe that video would get tons of views.
Lastly, many of us are new to the Fuji platform. ALL the videos I’ve seen on video settings for the X-H2s JUST show what settings they’re using, but NOT what to set up FIRST. Like do we go into manual mode first….set up overall settings for the camera that become like the master settings, then go to another area on PASM dial to dial in presets for C1-7? Like not even Fuji has best practices on this. It’s frustrating. Most books, long videos etc are primarily focused on photogs. Thanks for the consideration. Cheers 🍻 2024
I think i have your answer brutha..
You’re over thinking it. The Fuji system is very simple. Def put it into manual mode and start from there.
@@cammackey 😂🤣😎 ahh I see. That’s it! That’s the piece of information I was missing! Thank you so much for this informative reply. I think you’d like the Nikon Zf. All the benefits of the X-T5 and A7cii in one package.
Thank you and agree. Older but Xt3 and a6700. Sony look on back screen is a little off but the image is neutral and the video is beautiful but the fuji look is fun and the controls are nicer.
EXACTLY. I like owning both systems personally.
You can turn off the touch screen on the Xt-5
Thanks you for this video! I am in this exact dilemma currently but with X100VI instead. And i am still confused!
leaning towards the xh2 for client work, a used one is cheaper than a7c ii
Great video. Love the cinematography in this and the colors. I own the XS-20 and it's basically a mini xh2s with a few concessions for it's tiny size but it does have the flippy screen.
The newer Fuji lenses are great- especially the 18 and 33 - 18/1.4, 23/1.4, 33/1.4, and 56/1.2. Also, Viltrox has some nice lenses.
IM personally not a fan of their newer lenses, they're too clean for my taste.
Someone going from xt5 to a7c2. The autofocus is better on Sony but the viewfinder is trash on Sony a7c
Amazing cinematography with all your videos but especially this one great work
I think your camera would be the XPRO 2 or 3 with that 27mm lens. Just use that.
Hi Cam, do you use Angelbird in all your cameras now?
Yup! Even my SD cards.
Do you have as much fun shooting photo on the XH2s?
I do not. I was using it to film for a few months and enjoyed the process tho. But for stills.. no sadly
