Most of my trucks are Arrma but I do have a xmaxx and I never really used it until I put a hobbywing 1100kv combo in it and some new wheels. Now it feels alive like it should. It does need alot of upgrades when it comes to the electronics, gears and wheels.
I m surprised you didn't talk about the Traxxas Maxx 1/10. half the price of X maxx. Close to 1/8 scale size. comes with TSM. 60Mph on 4S. the ultimate durable RC to date.
They are great but they are just not worth money in UK sadly tax and delivery just make this a bad deal. 999 dollars excluding US tax makes it doable …but is still questionable as price wise as a lot of out of the box upgrades are required … I won’t even bother with servo out of the box… great video…thanks
The XMax is a dream. Especially with the U.S. economy in the toilet. However, I will own one. Until then, I'll keep right on bashing with my Hosim 9125. Excellent 1/12 (They say 1/10, but...) truck even though it's brushed. It does however, have two motors! I love it!!

Plastic breakage in normal use, defective batteries and other things, too many to list, in addition to rude customer support, impolite and who treated me like a fool. I have been in this hobby for 30 years, almost everything has passed through my hands in it and I can assure you that as long as Traxxas does not change its qualities, its business model and its ridiculous prices, I am not going to return to it. I also say that if there are people who like the brand, they should just enjoy it and let others enjoy theirs.

@@valuerc2664 There is no perfect brand, sir. I couldn't recommend one in particular because they all make excellent models and in all of them you can find some "but". This is something very personal that must be experienced in person before deciding.
Great choices there as the MT10 and DR8 are both superb. MT10 is solid out of the box albeit the arms can break so getting the replacement ones by RPM is a smart move. DR8 is pretty solid too. The rear suspension mounts and rear shock tower can break and bend respectively so upgrading to the aluminium ones is wise.
The xmaxx is god. Ive never had more fun. From the upper peninsula of michigan to the beaches of florida. Going with my udr and xmaxx was a great decision. Driving in salt water, not so much.
When I look at the numerous 100-200 cars I have. And I look at my xmaxx. I’d rather have the xmaxx than moSt of my budget ones together. (Not my 3 brushed wltoys - 144001 and the purple car and the buggy)

Traxxas is just a damn rip off atm, and yes the MT10 is soooo much better anyway. Also, don't forget the £500 - £1000 you will need to spend on upgrades!! Mental
I have an upgraded Xmaxx with 1/5 electronics and other goodies. I also have an Outcast 8s and EXB K8S with upgrades too. I love all 3 of them. For what I used to do (about 26ft high jumps are rare for me now) the Xmaxx can take it. The Arrma 8s trucks can take it too . Is the Xmaxx durable? Yes, but it's got weak points that you upgrade with time. I love mine. I'm currently running 35/50 gearing and it's very fast with the Max 5 and 1100kv 5687 motor. Great video as usual. Cheers. My biggest trucks are these ones that I like to film the best. I really like them more than my smaller trucks. Hehe
That DR8 has always caught my eye. Truly love the XMaxx, don't think I'll ever sell it. Superb video! Love just watching the XMaxx slide around and power through💪

Keen to see the servo replacement, what did you go for? Is there a video on the channel showing this? The plastic gears in my X-Maxx stripped after 2 runs from new. Replaced with the metal servo gears and so far so good (about a dozen runs since).
Went for a Savox in the end with the official Traxxas standard size servo adapter. Didn't think to video as its been done before by lots of other channels. The new one is nice and punchy. No idea why traxxas sent out a 1000+ Car with a plastic geared servo.
Body looks awesome, my servo died the 1st day of use, they did check it out to be faulty and it was replaced under warranty, so I'm ok with that, my fans are still fine, and still pretty much stock except M2C extended hubs, tires & Wheels...but as you said I use my 10th scale MAXX most of the time....but XMAXX is pretty awesome!!!
Worst part about the X-Maxx are the sintered gears, should be cnc machined gears imo. The servo is straight up bad and the ESC is unreliable. Love My X-Maxx tho with MMX8S/1100kV!!

Hell yes it was worth it ….. I grew up poor and could never have what other kids have . Until recently when I had enough money for myself to spoil myself I got one after decades of wanting a remote control car I got me one . Brought the lil kid out of me and the experience was well worth it . Only people with privileged lives would say it’s boring cuz they had everything growing up and are ungrateful .
My issue with this video is that the alternatives aren't comparable with the XMaxx. It's a different class/scale as the others. A traxxas maxx or stampede is more comparable to the others. I have a XMaxx as well as many other types and size of RCs. The fun is what you make of it. My onroad cars are a blast, so are my crawlers and short course trucks. As long as you accept the vehicles for what they are and not try to bash something that's not meant to be, you should be able to have fun with whatever you like.

The x-max literally is the only thing keeping Traxxas alive and the part's availability I have owned at least six different tracks vehicles and have not been impressed by any of them except for the rustler 4x4 VXL is the best one
I think the XMaxx is waaaaay over-rated. It's nowhere near durable enough to be "King" of the bashers. To be king, you have to be durable. I've seen too many videos and read too many stories about all the stuff that breaks on the XMaxx. I was going to get one until I saw that I'll get to spend another $500 to upgrade all the parts that will break. No thanks.
you can get an rc collection with 1000eur but almost everyone admits its a very good rc with huge body. i dont want any rc that size because it limits the places i can use it and ts too serious for something i just use for a little fun. i also have motorbikes and many bikers i know spend tens of thousands on exotic bikes capable of 350plus kmh and stupid fast accelerations sometimes to use the bikes once in a blue moon and not capable of using 20%of the bikes potential. if they have the money and really want it, why not?! i am too racional when buying 'toys' or vehicles and would never make such investments but thats me. also, it depends where you live. for exhample, 1000eur in Portugal is 30% more than minimal wage but in england is probably half of it.
Definitely if you have the budget for the truck and 2 4s packs then why not. Its very easy to work on and parts are everywhere. Just bear in mind it's a very large truck 😎👍
So is the XMAXX worth the money? $1000 is a huge amount of money but not necessary to have fun in this hobby! losi mtxl is 1/5 scale which dwarfs xmax. This is a bit larger then 1/8 Kyosho Usa-1. Xmax is close to 1/7, more like 1/6 scale. If the Xmax came with actually monster truck styled Tires and a body that isn't cartoon ish, I would be so happy.

Check out the traxxas wireless link module (tra6511). Can go into controller settings and set max turn. Stop the oversteer and burning out servos

An alternative to a G Wagon isn't a Jimny though is it? It's just smaller and cheaper. Whats a 1/6 scale alternative that even comes close?
