The Deseret News once claimed that C.S. Lewis was the top-most quoted non-Mormon in general conference. Turns out, they're wrong. So who is it?

I read Mere Christianity years ago and it made a profound influence in me. It was great. Some members of the Church, either have closed minds to anything written by "non-Mormons," or they think it a tragedy that they did not accept the Gospel. If C.S. Lewis had joined the Church, he would not have been able to influence the myriads of people that he did. There are many people who are influencing others for good, who do not join the Church because that is not their mission in life, They are doing exactly what they agreed to do before they came to earth. I am excited to hear about your new book series!

I like the book idea, it was interesting when you were reading the excerpt out of the critical thinking book it reminded me of how being raised LDS was at home & in church lessons and meetings. We are not taught to think we are taught to obey and follow.

@@rickfowlks7296you say that as if those 2 things are diametrically opposed, when they actually go more hand in hand. Brigham said the *FIRST* principle was obedience. He never said the second principle was blindly following. In fact in D&C 9 we are told to study it out in our minds.
At the same time there are circumstances where we are asked to obey and act on faith (or as you would say, “blindly follow”). I promise you the children of Israel who looked upon the fiery serpent and lived, were grateful they obediently acted in faith while those who criticized them for “blindly following” died thereafter.

It’s Nelson who had an issue , us being called anything than using the “full name of the church”, not LDS, not Mormons etc. he wanted it changed over 25 yrs ago and then President Hinkley put Russel in his place as wanting to change the emphasis used as MORMONS at the time. Nelson left his office that day with his tail between his legs with Hirt feelings. Loved how Hinkley thought being called a Mormon was no big deal, and why should we fear the name… bit Nelson has made it his mission to out do everything Hinkley did, push for the name, trying to out do Hinkley in temple building . It’s almost seems vengeful ! Loved President Hinkley, probably my favorite Prophet

….. has nothing to do with outdoing Hinckley haha if you listened to Nelson’s talk about this topic, it’s purely to emphasize “Jesus Christ” more. People think Mormons aren’t Christians, (which, whatever think what you want) but many people think Mormons don’t have anything to do with Jesus. It’s to promote Jesus name, and the fact that Jesus leads the church

Love your new books. Short to the point books and videos that make a memorable truth a teaching lesson, easily understood works best. Such as "As a Man Thinketh" James Allen, H. Verlan Andersen "Many Are Called", Norman Vincent Peale. G.K. Chesterton “Without education, we are in a horrible and deadly danger of taking educated people seriously.” “Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive" C S Lewis. “Question Everything” Socrates.

I figured $1 a month for tithing preserves the very act of it and that i have paid way more than adequate-overpaid- and the yearly correct and heart-felt answer to my bishop is “yes”, still, although my contributions were challenged and questioned by the Bishopric and the finance secretary. Salvation is in the Heart between two people, my God and myself.

Of course all who are involved in handling money at the ward level it’s all held in confidence…🙄🙄🙄, and then when they are rotated out every 2-5 years, then a new batch to “hold in confidence “.
