    I have this machine
    I named her Grandma
    .. bc she is the oldest machine I own. I use her daily hemming jeans, replace zippers in heavy coats, or leather work. She is lovely to work with.

    I love antique and vintage sewing machines, especially the industrials. Among the dozens of sewing machines I have, I have two 31-15 and love them. I have my eye out for a 95-10 and now maybe even a 111W155 with a walking foot! Thank you for sharing. :-)

      Thanks. Be careful because once you start collecting the Industrial machines, it's hard to stop. :) Save everyone you can!

    Hi, I just bought this model sewing machine for 400.00 dollars.
    Working with a table and motor with lots of attachments and presser feet.
    It also came with a separate bobbin winder with lots of bobbins.
    With a light and 2x Thread holder. I installed a servo motor on it.
    Which slowed it down a lot! The old motor is a beast and weighs a ton.
    Now to clean it up and start sewing.
    Thanks for sharing, hope to see more videos on this machine.

      sounds like you got a great deal! Servos are the way to go on these unless you're a professional that uses it 12 hours a day. I'll see if I can do more videos on it. Thanks

    Thanks for the video. I was just given the 151 (walking needle model) that my parents bought back in 1964. They bought it to do upholstery in the garage to pay for dr and hospital bills for my upcoming birth. I am dusting it off and getting it serviced so I can use it myself

    I watched your video and suggest you might want to reconsider calling the 111w155 a walking foot. It is actually a compound feed machine. The needle and inner foot move in unison with the needle in the goods. A walking foot has the inner and out feet moving when the needle is not in the goods. There are 4 types of feed , Drop feed like all domestic machines, needle feed meaning the needle moves rearward with only an out pressure foot holding the goods down but the cloth moving rearward with the needle in the goods, compound feed like the 111w155 and then the walking foot machines the fabric is actually moved by alternating feet but the movement is actually occurring with the needle out of the goods.

I've been doing leather work a couple of years sewing everything by hand so I am very excited at the possibility to start machine stitching. Can you guide me to videos or even better make a couple, thanks again, Doc

    I just bought this sewing machine and wondering what presser feet you recommend for leather? The one it came with is leaving marks on the top of the tanned leather. Thanks!

    • @derekdoeschannel
      @derekdoeschannel  8 місяців тому

      You might need to get a teflon foot for it as these will leave marks in softer leather. I'm not that up on all the choices out there, but do a search on them and I bet some will pop up!

    Hello! We have an older industrial singer with the #w1165243. It looks very similar to the one in this video. We use it to work on our boat canvas. We changed color of thread and now having difficulty loading the bobbin. Do you have a video on how to load the bobbin? If not, could you make one? Thank you for your assistance!

    • @derekdoeschannel
      @derekdoeschannel  Рік тому

      Hi Try flipping the bobbin from what you are currently putting it in. Also did you do anything to the needle? It might be backwards. Did you wind the bobbin on the machine, it might be too loose or tight?

    • @BethEbeling

      We did not wind it on that sewing machine, but on another.

    • @BethEbeling

    • @BethEbeling
      @BethEbeling Рік тому +1

      Yeah...we figured it out! We bought empty bobbins and they were bigger, causing the thread to snag.
      Should let you know what a great deal we got this sewing machine. Got it at an auction, with the stand, for $35!

    How do you adjust tension on the W series machines?

    • @derekdoeschannel
      @derekdoeschannel  Рік тому

      you can adjust the tension through a few ways. How you wrap your thread through the posts at the top, and on the sides and also just using the tension discs on the front of the machine would be the easiest.
