It is the very next scene yes. I have one criticism about it though, why did it need 3 senior officers to set up the forcefield. Why couldn't Riker have messaged Data and Data did everything else? He has proved he can do everything from his console and he would have been more than capable of setting up the field.
This episode was pretty good watching it when it aired because I couldn't figure out who was the enemy kinda like the movie devil while they were in the elevator and each person trying to figure out who is the evil one
This was an excellent episode. I thought it was going to be much more straightforward in that i assumed they had been taken prisoner for information they had that their captors were trying to get out of them after breaking them down.

well yeah I thought the Naussican was the bad guy only to find out the sweet innocent looking cadet was the bad ass there in the end
Because of this episode I was mislead into thinking Bolians had hair on top their heads just as often as everyone else in Star Trek.

It was actually a very forgettable episode... They could've become valuable members of Starfleet.
I only remembered that there was one jerk alien who couldn't eat the food and that it was an elaborate experiment. The rest: forgotten.
